Tiff and Calluna - awesome weigh-ins. Congrats!

Lisha - if I followed the nutrition guidelines in NROL, I would be at about 3000 daily calories. I honestly don't think it's written for women who have a significant amount of weight to lose. After lots of angst and outside reading, I decided to just stick with my normal calorie restriction method, but shift to eating most of my carbs (and lots of protein) to immediately after lifting. I am currently experimenting a bit with intermittent fasting, but don't know yet if it's going to be something I want to do long-term.

I have whey powder. I use it occasionally. Most of the advice I have read says real food is better. But the protein shakes can be quite convenient. And I don't worry a whole lot about losing muscle. As far as I understand, heavy people have lots of muscle from carrying all that weight around. My goal with exercise and lifting is to maintain as much lean muscle as possible. But I think I can be healthy and toned even if I lose some of my current muscle.

Lauriedawn it sounds like we are in the same boat. I agree with everything you wrote except the fasting. I am going to continue with activtrax for now. It will increase my weights. Hopefully by the time I loose at least 50 more lbs I will feel more confident in the weight room. Thats when I am going to do new rules. Until the I will get more fit.

Calluna congrats and I hope to follow you soon.

I weighted myself early this morning. DH was leaving for a trip. Then I got on the scale again before breakfast and it was down 1.5lbs. WTF. I rezeroed and tried again and got 3 more 246/247/246.5. Earlier it had been 248. So I have kept the 246.5 and we will see what happens tomorrow.

Well some of you ladies are moving right along. When I got on the scale Monday I weighed 247.8 down exactly one pound. I just started fall semester and my brain is already fried. I have to get it together or I'm probably going to another week with just a one pound loss.

Tiff! Thanks for the congrats! As it happens, I won't be able to weigh in on my own scale tomorrow (my usual weigh in day), so I adjusted my weigh in day to today!

AND I AM OUTTA HERE! 239.8. Not a big loss, and not low enough to ensure I won't be back, but happy nonetheless. But I will miss y'all. Hope to reconvene the group soon on the next thread!

I am down another pound, so 244 today. Hopefully I can be in the 230's by the end of next week. Fingers crossed.

Tiff you are so close. Just a day or two for you.

Almost half way there the 240s are trying to hang out with me a little too long, but I weighed in today at 245.6.

Hi guys! I generally post in another forum, but have found that everyone there is nearly at goal weight! I will still keep up with them too, but want to be able to relate to the gals going through my tough times right now! Mind if I join you while you are here?

February 28--doctors appt. March 1st--diet! I had reached well over 300, and just knew it was time! Time to do something, anything really!

Since then I have maintained a 10 pound loss each month. I don't know who it was, but someone on 3FC said they couldn't lose 100 pounds, but they could lose 10 many times. That was my inspiration to make it my personal goal as well.

I'm where I "need" to be for this month. October 1st scale just has to show me less than 249. 248 this morning.

I have eaten a Subway salad for lunch EVERY weekday during my entire journey. My job ends next month, so that will end too. I plan to continue the salad routine at home.

This week I have used our elliptical a couple of times, and was pleasently surprised that I was really able to use it for 20 minutes! Last time I tried (quite some time ago) I thought I was going to die after 5 minutes! I think I'll try to incorporate that into my daily routine. Not that I am so busy--more like lazy!

2times2much congratulations on the weight you have lost so far. I like 10lbs many times. I have many more 10lbs to go. This group seems quiet right now.

I started July 27. I dont know why I decided that day. I think the final straw was seeing pictures of myself. I was and am horrified. So I knew I needed to make a change. I found an online calorie counter and started changing my eating habbits.

I started by drinking more water. I had a few liter bottles of Diet Coke and filled them with water. Drinking more water made me less hungry and not as tired. I stopped drinking Diet Coke (Huge for me) and later in the week coffee. I did not need them to get through the day.

I started walking in a local park while my kid were in summer camp. I struggled to walk a mile each day. The next week I started back at the Y. Walking each day. The next week I started strength training and Zumba. Yesterday I walked 4.5miles in 90min. It's nice to see my endurance improving.

It's been 4wks and I have lost 21lbs. I lost 1.5lbs today. I know some of this is water weight that i was holding from strenght training. I had gained a pound yesterday. So really i am down half a pound. I am good with that.
I know this will take until next year.

Thanks for the compliment!

Lisha, you are really rocking the weight loss! Good for you! And the walking, Y, and Zumba!! I tried Zumba once. Thought I was gonna die!

I like the 10 # a month deal, because if I can get it off early on in the month, I have some wiggle room for weekends, camping, dinner out... So really for the last half of the month I try to get ahead a little for the next month. Feels like cheating, and it's working for me so far! First time in my life I have weighed less than DH. (Of course, I fattened him up a bit! )

I drink pop at lunch. I moved all the pop at home out to our 4 season room, in a different refrigerator. Now it's not very convenient to go get it, so I generally drink 0 calorie Powerade, or Mio.
