I made it through the weekend without too much damage, I think. THe snack table had a few things that won me over but having the other snacks available was great. I still hesitated to get on the scales this morning because I haven't exercised for a week either ... and I know that is critical.
But I did weigh ... and I'm exactly the same. I am so glad for that because I have the kind of body that can gain 5 pounds over dinner ... and keep it! Anyway, I'm glad to report that the plateau remains! At least it didn't go up. And I need to get back to exercising ... this was such a crazy week, though, and I got home exhausted. I think like Meowee said, we have to make permanent lifestyle changes and that means when we blow it, either bigtime or just a little, we don't let it sidetrack us from getting back on the path. And, girlyorkie, I think we just have to stick to it through the plateaus ... cause if we don't they just become long periods of time where we stayed the same before we started back up. Better they should be before we start moving down the scale ... that's what I'm hoping for!
I hope the first day of work went well for Donna ... and that you found a way to wear the pants with shirt tucked in without feeling badly about it. I have a hard time finding stuff to wear that covers my rear end ... and even then I think I'm just fooling myself. It really isn't covered up at all ... oh, well.
I also had trouble with getting the website to come up ... but am glad that it seems to be back in service.
Well, I've got a lot to catch up on so I'd better go. Hope this week is a careful, thoughtful, happy, heathly one ... with good news next Monday because of it.
Finally!! I have had such a hard time getting back into this site, it was driving me nuts. As it is, I have to get in by way of the back door. At least I'm here now, and missed all of you over the weekend.
To all you that have lost weight this week. For those of us that didn't show a loss, hang in there! It will happen.
Jill...Love the picture of you and HH.
Sara and Beth...I also fell off the diet wagon. Had a pot luck/meeting to go to Friday night. I started off with good intention, took a salad to eat and my water bottle, but the desserts were a calling. I had a couple cookies. Then they had a raffle, and I won a large bag of M & M peanuts. I had some of them yesterday...And, yes they were sooooo good.
I was back on track this morning, and happy to report no cheats today.
I haven't exercised the last couple of days. Friday and Saturday I had to go to town, and it was so cold here with the wind chill, that I could hardly move. The cold really makes my knees stiff. Friday, we were -11 with the wind chill, and Saturday we were 11. Suppose to be a warm up to 30 tomorrow. So, I'll be up early and back to exercising either with Richard or WATP.
Hello!! I so missed everyone!! Jill thanks for the message, nice to know I was missed. I read somewhere that the first week in Feb is when people often "give up" on self imporovement goals set after the holidays. Not me, by golly. Although I had kind of a tough week this week, am jumping right back on my bandwagon! I have too.
We have had the flu at our house. First DH, then DS and then me. Ugh!! Fell right off the eating program, and exercise. Feel better today, so am jumping back on now. Dug out some Richard Simmons tapes to do on my alternate days from Curves, until the weather is such that I can get back to my walking.
Nice to see everyone is still posting.
Congrats to those who are losers this week, my mantra for this weeks is the words of Winston Churchill: "Never, never, never give up." (in my mind, never must be pronounced "nevah", and there must be a pause between each of the nevers.) That quote is the entire speech Churchill gave to the first graduating class at Oxford after WW2. He had been asked to impart his most important advice. Can you tell I have been in bed reading??
Hi there, fls (Jill) thanks for the welcome. You see I would never learn names if I didn't see them ALL the time. As it is, when someone mentions someone I have no idea who it is and have to go scrolling back looking for names. Oh well, I'm hopeless. I have a hard time remembering my own name! I wish everyone would wear name tags or something. Well, if anything could get me onto another thread it would be bikers! I love motorcycles, have barely been on one but just have always liked them. So, if you're into bikes, cool!
This looks to be a really hopping thread and I barely have time for the two I post on now...still, I may keep an eye out over here. It'd be nice to have another group to hang out with. I am close enough in age to join you all. I will be 47 in August, if I make it that far...the thought of being in my 50s is somehow not that unpleasant....still, it might be good if I had some friends in that age group instead of me always hanging out with people in their 20s! Yeah, boring I know.
So, tell me, Jill, do you ride at all, or are you always on the back? Do you have your own bike? And what kind is that, a Harley, right?
meowee -- Hi there and thanks for the welcome. Yes, as I wrote above, I'm very eligible for the thread I guess if you're counting 30somethings! Wow, what's this, you bit your mouth? Ouch!! Hope it heals soon.
Wow, there are just too many people! I'm going to sit back and try to assimilate slowly....but a big hello to everyone! Ask me any questions you like. Like I mentioned before, I'm from Pittsburgh but live in Tokyo and have been here for years and years! I'm single, have four cats and a horse and work at an English-language newspaper parttime as well as do a lot of other freelance language-related work, writing, translating, editing..and I cover a lot of the horse-racing scene here, both for local press and overseas, States, Hong Kong, England, Australia, depending on who has horses running here or is interested in a race or jockey here. I weigh around 72 kgs and am trying to get down to about 60, with muscle, maybe 58 or so. I'll do the conversion if you're not familiar with metric. I think I'm around 158 lbs now and my goal is around 128. I'm just over 5 feet so even 128 may be kind of heavy but I do a lot of exercise and have a lot of muscle, too much really I think...well, more on that later. I know this thread is about "losing it again" but I'm not sure I ever really lost it....the weight, I mean... I was down to 60 kg some years ago, but it was very unhealthy...I was smoking a ton! now I've been clean for over 15 years. I would like to get to 60 again though and yes, more than lose it again, just lose it period! once and for all. I am tired of procrastinating! That's all it really is, isn't it? I mean, we all know HOW to lose weight, so why don't we? For me, at least, it's just putting it off and putting it off, but for what? when I'm old and gray? So, gonna buckle down! This is it!!
Well, let me try to get to know you slowly...let's see, girlie, Bunti, Cheryl, lilly, Gail, merry..that's all I can handle now!!
Take care all!

I'm happy to read everyone's posts and see so many back after the weekend server change.
Bunti....so glad you're back with us after your flu...sounds like no one in your family escaped! We've had colds...but getting better now. Somehow I've managed to pretty much stay on-plan, but still not exercising, so no loss this week. I'm REALLY going to try to do SOMETHING today!
Red...maybe you can inspire those of us who just can't get motivated to exercise. How'd you get your muscle? Congrats on not smoking for so long...that's a habit I never had, thank God...I've got enough problems being addicted to FOOD! Your life in Toyko sounds fascinating! How'd you get to be living there? No, I don't ride my own bike...have given it some serious thought, but honestly, I'd feel isolated if I did. HH and I love to chat while we ride and enjoy the closeness of riding with me on the back. We have a 1999 Harley Ulta-Classic touring bike with a Lehman Trike conversion. I tried to upload a pic to this post, but it wouldn't let me.....so I uploaded it into my profile. You can go there to look if you'd like. Notice that I'm always hiding my bod behind HH. Yuk. Don't want to hide anymore!!
Cheryl....that would be MY luck; to win a darn bag of M & M's in a raffle!!! There's just an evil obstacle at every turn, isn't there!!
Well....let's all EAT HEALTHY and try to get our butts moving this week!

Jill, the bike looks REAL COOOOOLL .
You and your HH looks just as COOL.
Hi everybody . . . Just a quick Hello from Nova Scotia.
Another fine day and I've got things to do and places to go. . . why are there never enough hours in the day? Boy, the older we get the faster time passes. Now I ask you, is that fair.
Glad to see we are all still hanging in there. Have a great day, everyone. Talk to you again soom.
Hi Everyone, I'm usually on very early in the morning but I had to take my grandson to school today. I dropped him off and went on to the mall and got my walking in. Whew, sometimes i'm just glad to get it out of the way! I know it's necessary, and I miss it when I can't exercise, but it's BORING!
I had another good day yesterday, and a good start today. But I broke a cardinal rule, I didn't eat breakfast! Didn't have time this morning.
Joan, You did well on the retreat and it always helps to have an ali with you.
Donna, How was the first day of work? Hope every thing went well for you. That first day is always scary!!
Cheryl, I have luck just like you! I neve win anything, but if I did it would be food, and probally one of my favorites at that!
Bunti, Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Everyone in my family had that stomach virus except me! How it missed me I'll never know. I'm the one that catches everything! But a good time to catch up on the reading.
Welcome, REDBALOON! Hope you come back often. You sound like you have done so much traveling to so many exciting places!
Jill, Thanks for posting pictures of you and HH! Now we can put a face to a name. I would do that but I am so computer illiterate I just don't know how! And you have plenty enough time to lose some weight before vacation! Always good to have an added incentive!
I ate oatmeal this morning for breakfast - wooo wooo! I am craving chocolate - anyone know any good chocolate recipes, snacks, tips...? Its all the focus on Valentines and chocolate.
Hey Bunti - hope you feel better. I used to live in Anchorage. Have you lived in Juneau long?
Goal for today: stick to diet by eating breakfast, eat about every 3 hours, and go to the gym.
I borrowed this from someone else - but I sure like it "Put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walkin' cross the floor".
Here's what I do when I have to have chocolate....plus, it's OK to have a small piece of DARK chocolate every now and then!
1 sm pkg of FF, SF Jello chocolate instant pudding
1 cup of FF milk
1 cup of FF ricotta cheese
3 TB of cocoa powder
Whip it all up and eat it! It's like mousse!
Thanks for the picture compliments, Chicks!
AND here's my Big Announcement of the day:
I did 30 uninterrupted minutes of Pilates....no cheating....the whole tape. No Lie. WhooooooHooooo! One day under my belt. Just have to keep goin'!!!
I'm on day SEVEN of Atkins Induction and so far, each day is different. Hanging in there
One of my biggest challenges in these 7 days is getting my act together about B'fast! Today I had an early AM appointment and had to resort to cheese sticks to eat in the car - kind of a Ugh! But Cheese sticks were all I had handy and ready to go, otherwise I would have had to "skip' B'fast and I don't EVEN want to start going down that slippery slope.
Hi everyone! Surfdreams I have lived in Juneau for 13 years. I grew up in Sonoma County in California.( Freestone and Bodega Bay) I travel to Anchorage for work sometimes, and I have a son and daughter-in-law who live there. It seems like I always go in the winter. Not the best time to visit, I think.
Hyacinth, good for you, you're stickin' to it. You go girl!
Jill, that recipe sounds ummy! I will have to buy some riccotta and try it. I confess. I have some good 1/2 oz dark chocolate pieces stashed. THey save me if I am having an urge.
Freda, I miss exercising too, need to do it more. I sure wish I could remember names as well as you do.
Red, glad to have you here. Would love to hear more about Tokyo.
Donna, How was the job. Had fingers crossed and prayers for a good first day for you.
Cheryl, Sarah and Beth, I fell off the wagon too, but have climbed back on.
Joan, good job on the retreat.
Linda, Nice to see ya.
Well, off to bed. Work will be early tomorrow. Or at least it will seem so.
Girlieyorkie where in Denmark are you? My father was from the island of Bornholm.(Cant really spell it right, but I am sure you know where I mean)
Greetings All,
Couldn't get the computer to post yesterday, HH and DD were hogging it!!! Just a quick check in before I have to head to town. Today is WW weigh in day. Don't think I will have a loss with the cheats I have had this week. But, it is a new day, and I just start over if I fall off program. A month ago, if I would of cheated, it would of been a full blown eatting freenzy!!!! I'm proud to say, I haven't had a fast food burger, fries, chicken sandwich, egg Mcmuffin, anything fast food, unhealthy, except salad since I started Jan 3rd. Yeah for me!!!! I check back later.
Have a good one and make the most of it.
