meowee, I like what you said about it only being ONE day - and that things will get better!

(It didn't sound like whining to me - just stating the obvious - we all feel disappointed once in awhile)

Hope it is a beautifully sunny day for you tomorrow!

HI all! I tried writing yesterday and had a nice long message but when I hit the button to send it, the screen went blank, a message came on that said "invalid entry", and all was lost. I was so mad ... I had tried to respond with names like some of you do and I was so proud of myself. Then I lost it (literally and figuratively!).

Anyway, I'm here to join everyone else is saying hello to Hyacinth, Molly, and Marsha and to welcome you to "us". We're all people who know what it is to lose it and start again ... and we're here to try to help those times of "losing it" become fewer and fewer.

It seems like quite a few of us have issues with arthritis that keep us from exercising like we should ... but I'm finding that every other day is working for me and that my joints have a day to recover. I should probably be working on my upper body the other day so that I get a workout everyday of some sort. But it has been four years since I exercised regularly so I'm doing pretty well to be moving at all! The bunion surgery that I had over three years ago and never fully recovered from (and still have pain from) stops me from really throwing myself into anything ... it just hurts too badly. But I am doing something and that, along with the diet, I hope will get me back into a size 14 (from an 18). I'd love to be a 12 but I'm not going to set unrealistic goals for myself ... I even threw away the size 14 clothes thinking that if I got there I'd want to buy all new stuff. I still have the size 16 stuff, just waiting for the chance to be worn comfortably again. I can't wait!

Blessings, Joan

Joan, I have that "poof - it's gone!' thing happen on occasion to me too and just go ballistic and/or want to cry - lol! It always seems to happen to my best (IMO) posts too!

I was just considering this morning about keeping some old shorts I had that are now smaller than my current size and I too thought the same thing you did: why not consider buying some NEW things when I reach a smaller size?

I think this is all tied into the same old issues of not giving myself any "props" and thinking I can't get anything new, or treat myself or whatever - like self-esteem issues maybe. (So previously I guess I let food reward me instead - eek!)

Anyway, Goodwill is going to get those shorts :-) Me, I'll be going into Sports Authority, hopefully by the end of Feb to buy a new pair in just the right size.

Default Well now I HAVE to do this...

...and of course I want to, but it was just kind of interesting that this is in my horoscope for the month of Febuary:

"With a new moon in your sector of preventative health measures, you may make a renewed vow to work out more at the gym at the start of February. Perhaps a desire to wear your favorite skinny jeans, thin silk leggings, or tiny resort bikini has propelled you to hit the track or sign up for spinning and kickboxing classes. No matter what the motivator, start in the first week of February when four planets in your health sector will act like fairy godmothers to light the way to the results you're after."

Can you believe it???!!!

No tiny bikinis for me, but maybe a tiny housecoat?

Kind of cool to have the extra boost from the astrological world

Just had to share,
Hyacinth, a Virgo

Welcome ladies! I too gave all my baggie clothes away. That way I know I can't go back up. I only have three pairs of pants that fit so I can't gain can only go down!!!!!

I sure have felt your pain. Plateaus are from the d that is for sure. Can be so discouraging! I love the advice here. I am not going to focus on that scale we are more than a number. Focus on the wonderful benefits we have achieved. Maybe we should list some of our non scale victories here. Like being able to climb the stairs without being winded. Rings being too large.

My arms are my worst feature so I am going to try your arm things. Thanks for posting that and good for you that you can wear sleevless stuff!!!

Stay cozy up there in Canada!

Enjoy this DAY!!!!

Hi All,

Just a quick check in. It Was WW weigh-in day, scale said I gained 1 pound. No big deal, my scales are off by .8 compared to WW. I'm going to report my Monday morning weigh in only. I got into my size 4X slacks today, without the pockets gapping. YEAH for me!
I had a really good day, stayed within my points and I exercised as well. It's Feb, and things can only get better, spring is just around the corner.

Have a good night.

oH my gosh... i LOST THREE POUNDS!!!
I know it doesn't sound like much, but I was so thrilled!!

This weelk was the first time I put myself on a regimen of similar foods per meal. (I don't do well with choices)

Anyway, I have kept up my exercise (duh, you know me) but maybe, just maybe I can make food into what it is supposed to be and not such an obsession 9Gosh I love to eat!)

Reggie: That burns a ton doing that kind of work, but don't forget lifting - even gallons of milk until you tricep burns. Try it!

Lisa: Have a ball - and don't ruin your trip ove a few lbs. You family loves you and doesn't see you like you see yourself - just don't let a bad day put you in a bad frame of mind for your trip. Hang in and have a blast!

Joan,

Keep up with your exercise too - I know each workout seems *boring* and tedious but try something every day. I wish I could do the trampoline, but I pee my pants. hehee.

Luflic (purple pansy) Have a super day tomorrow. You can do it - This is an important forum for me, I think - I wish I could get to know everyone better to remember all your personal stories, but I am trying girls!!

3 carrots for 3 lbs. I can't believe it!

Daily Exercise tip?

MUSIC!!! It puts me in the zone. I know you all have your favoirte tunes that give you the push. Burn those CD's and get movin ladies - you won't regret it!

*hugs*

Sara

Cheryl just remember all the weight you have lost so far, you might just have a little water retention. Next time you will see a loss. l had a good day yesterday, until bedtime and must confess l had a nutty buddy. Oh well today is another day. Have a super day gang. Beth

Default hi

Good morning all,
and to the new members, Molly and Hyacinth! glad to have you aboard!

Molly, We do have a lot of good years left, and we have to work to make sure that they are good ones! You have a lot of conditions that make it hard to do the exercises, but they all benefit from exercise too. Just take it easy and build up.

Hyacinth, Love the name! You are taking the first step in taking controle of your diet! Cleaning the fridge and kitchen of "junk". If it's not there you can't eat it! Stocking healthy food is the first part of the plan!

Lisa, I know what you mean about the "saging bra straps" I'm short too, 5'1". They make a strap that goes across the back to hold them in place. I saw them at Penny's. I'm going to try them. It's so annoying!!

Jill, Don't you feel like a new woman when you get your hair done? I can tell when my patients are getting better, they start worrying about their hair!

Marsha, Where are you going to on vacation? By March you should have lost a lot of weight. And eating oatmeal is really a good way to start the day. Of course I doctor it up so much it barley resembles oatmeal. I use cinnamon (stabalizes blood sugar), raisins, flax seed, and sprinkle it with nuts.

Laurie, I see you're cleaning the junk out too! I think that's a necessity!

Luflic, We all fall off the wagon from time to time, we just have to get up and get back on!

Linda, My hot flashes are almost gone. Only have an occasional one now! I don't take estrogen. It gave me migraine headaches!

Gail, Yum, I love peppers. do you make stuffed peppers too? I try to have a couple of meatless meals a week.

Reggie, You Rock!

Sara, You CAN do this! Count those other times as just practice!

Cheryl, It's all one day at a time. Don't look at the big picture, just get up each morning and make it the best one ever. You were able to fit into your "small pants". That proves you're losing. sometimes that scale lies! I don't have but 2 sizes of clothes. I won't buy over a certain size. I'm afraid if I do I will jsut keep going up. Of course, at times I have noting to wear! But it keeps me in check.

Carol, It's too cold for me to walk outside too! I have artharitis also and would get stiff as a board! I either go to the mall or use my treadmill! That was one of the best purchases I ever made!

Joan You lost 3 pounds! That is awsome! We all have a love affair with food going on or we wouldn't be here! But it dosn't love us back so it's time to controle it!

Fail to plan, plan to fail!

Go make it a good day, Freda

Default Day Two of Atkins!

Day One of Atkins (aka: yesterday) went great!! I'm following the plan to the letter - that is my commitment to myself - to do the Atkins Induction for the month of Feb.

I also worked out with my trainer yesterday (a reg. scheduled session).

I'm taking it one day at a time and saying the serenity prayer.

In techincal news, am planning to weigh myself on Fridays and Mondays. NEXT month I'll focus a little more on numbers, but this month I just want to work on having a focus (Atkins) and not going off task. What I mean is that even if I lose nothing, I will be thrilled that I did the program as I said I would. That in and of itself will be a great accomplishment as I have had a lot of distractions this past year. I'm guessing you all understand this!!

Best wishes for a good day for everyone here!

Good Morning Chicks & Reggie!

Wish I had the memory and time to address everyone individually this morning....one thing's for certain; I sure did enjoy reading ya'll's posts!

I too have tossed most of my fat(ter) clothes with the hope that I'll never wear them again. I'm back on-plan with smaller portions now that everyone is gone...so hopefully there will be some results this week! Am off to Wally-Mart when I finish this and will pick up the weights for those burning arm exercises!! YAY!

My haircut came out great, but the color is pretty wild for this ol' gal! My hairdresser is a maniac so I never know what I'll look like when I leave there! You definitely have to be adventuresome to go have Dennis do your hair. LOL It's a little too Lucy-Red for me, but I had lotsa highlights too....so after a few days when the initial pigment begins to fade, it'll be good. In the meantime, don't be surprised if I get picked up by a Latino Hunk (ala Ricky Ricardo) at Wally-Mart! HAHAHAHA Hope he's young and has money. Boy!? What WAS in my oatmeal this morning??!!

Anyway...sounds like everyone is in good spirits and staying on track. We just have to keep on keepin' on, don't we Girls! Reggie's waaay ahead of us and our best drill-sargeant and cheerleader. Thanks, Reg

Lisa.....YOU CRUISE in a couple of days....can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. Have a wonderful time and savor each lucious bite and sip of champagne! When you return, we'll all be here to help you get back on your plan

Make it a good day everyone....and remember to ask yourself.....What do you REALLY want....when you open that pantry or refrigerator or look at that menu!

Love you Guys!

Happy Groundhog Day . . .

The radio just told me that Wiarton Willy (Ontario) and Shubenacadie Sam (NS) did not see their shadows. What about your local rodent? Somehow I think winter will continue for at least six more weeks anyway.

Yesterday's blizzard only left us with 14 to 15 inches of snow which is not a lot by our usual standards (although I don't know how they determine what actually fell when it came down sideways). I've got spots at the front of the house that are almost bare and at the back it's at least 3 feet in places. Now the long range forecast is saying 50 degrees and rain again on Saturday/Sunday. Weird

Well, got to get going again. Just wanted to wish everyone a great day. See you soon.

Good morning, all --

Sara, three pounds IS a lot! Congratulations, and I hope the downward trend continues!!

Special good morning to dear Freda, who always has a kind word for everyone!!! Hope your weather improves and you can get outside. I agree, I love the treadmill. Mine broke a couple of years ago, but I do have a gym membership, so I just drag my tush over there.

Marsha, you said that you were having trouble with portion sizes. I don't know how the WW program works, but on Sonoma, I divide my 9" plate into quarters: 1/4 protein, 1/4 vegies, 1/4 grains (which usually equates to 1/2 cup), 1/4 fruit for lunch and dinner. Learning to eyeball what a correct portion is has really helped me, especially when I've been in a restaurant. Perhaps this will help you?

Laurie
