  • Hi!!

I am continuing to workout - but the food is still anissue. I didn't do as well as yesterday, but still felt better than my previous eating habits. The one bad habit at a time may be the key for me. I had one bit of my protein bar and thanks to you LM - I thought about it.Cool

My husband is a terrible food pusher - and really wants me to stay fat. I don't know why. It is inice to have a man who loves me so much but - I can't zip my pants, so it is still discouraging.

Reggie!! Awesome. And the same goes for all you losers!! I will weigh in on Monday. I saw a photo of myself and it was hard today... but I also agree that this is a new lifetime goal - no more bathing suit panic. I am over that one...

I only got the carrot top today, but will try tomorrow. We have a dinner party so... I hope I can do this!

ENOUGH'S EXERCISE TIP OF THE DAY!

I do all upper body on MWF. Think of body parts (biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, chest) Now this is simplistic but put a weight in your hand and do each body part until you can't do another one - you know that burning feeling? That is what you are looking for. Why weight train? Your muscle burns more lard, girls. So... (yes here it is) you can eat more, so you aren't as hungry. It doesn't take me long to do this AT ALL! 20 min of aerobics, and MWF upper body! Try it.

    Love and kisses,

Sara (your obsessive compulsive exercise friend who can't stop bingeing but she is trying really hard)
  • Hi

Jill...What a wonderful tribute to your father's memory with so many to come and honor his life. Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your DD.

Luflic.... On your 1 pound loss. Keep up the good work.

Joan....1/2 pound sounds good to me, and by Monday it could be a pound or more. WhoooooHooooo!!!

The rest of you sound like you are all doing great as well with keeping up on your exercising and staying OP. We can do this!!

Today, my husband and I went to Fargo for some shopping. Had lunch at Qdoba Mexican Grill. I thought I did pretty good by ordering a Chicken Burrito without cheese and sour cream, and the Tortilla Soup without sour cream and cheese. I never saw their nutritional pamplet till I was leaving. I just about had a heart attack when I saw the Burrito was 590 calories. That was 12 points and the soup was 5 points. Needless to say, dinner was a Lean Cusine at 6 points and a salad. So I stayed within my points. Next time I go there, it will be a Tortilla Soup Trio. Comes with a chicken soft taco, tortilla soup with no cheese, sour cream or tortilla strips and a drink. Total calories are 360 or 7 points. Still feel good that I didn't go over my points and I wasn't tempted to add the cheese or sour cream.

Hope you all have a great weekend, I know I will.

Enough....You've inspired me! I am going to get some weights today. What size do you suggest for these exercises??

I know you will soon be able to control your binges....planning is the key for me. If I have snacks available that are on-plan, I will eat them. If I don't...well....you know.
  • No more excuses, no more moaning and groaning. I want to live a longer, healthier and more active life.

If I had stayed at my starting weight of 335, I know my life right now would be miserable. After the loss of 77 pounds my BP is down over 30 points, I no longer am tired all the time and I'm actually enjoying life again.

My thoughts are that every time I pass up that second dessert or second helping, I get to spend an extra week with my grandson. That is a great trade off for me.

Everyone stay focused on your life to be. It's hard admittedly to get started on a program, but a lot easier to stay on track once you do.

Everyone have a great weekend and keep LOSING.

  • Hi everyone. Tough week for my plan here. I really need to learn to make time for my workout. Eating wasn't too bad, but didn't get my Movin' in.

Congrats to this weeks losers. You inspired me not to give up completely, thanks.

I made a cool little poster of the first paragraph of the last post, with the additions of "No Whining, I Can do it--Each day is a clean slate, and I am a strong woman!"

I need to see visual positive reinforcement when the scale isnt moving!!
  • Jill .. I'm not an expert on exercise by any stretch of the imagination ... but I have used weights in exercising of all sorts. And I believe you should start small with more reps ... like 1, 2, or 3 pound weights. You might work up to 5pound but you need to be careful when starting out and building up your muscles (not causing them to snap!). They're pretty cheap but you probably need to head for a sports store ... I don't think Target has them, but who knows, they surprise me sometimes.

I didn't do so well on the exercising this week either ... I'd been getting it in every other day and for some reason haven't done it since Tuesday. But, that's OK ... I'll get to it today. I'm tired of kicking myself for failures ... there's enough of that going around ... so you just get started again.

Bye for now ... hope we're all losing! Joan
  • Hi dear friends!

Reggie, you are doing so great. Congratulations on your progress. I'm sure you do feel better after 77 pound loss. Hurray for you, keep on my friend!

lillygrace, You and I are in the same boat as far as exercising goes. The last time I lost 93 pounds without exercising, but my muscles were never tight. So I know you can loose and not exercise, but I also know that exercise is a big factor in general all around good health. I hope to do more of it as my arthritis allows me to.

Bunti, yes, each day is a new day ( or clean slate which ever you prefer). My motto is NO GUILT, and move on. After so many tries I realize now that I am not a perfect person, so my weight loss will never be perfect all the time. The key is to be more on than off! If anyone else can be perfect I am happy for you. I just know "ME" and I'm not always what I wish I could be. Keep at it ok.

Cheryl... I know what you mean about those hidden calories in resturant food. I've done the same thing. I think I'm being pretty good only to find out I am way over points. YUCK!

flsunbaked... Good idea to plan your snacks ahead. It does work. I find it works best for me to try to save enough points that I can have 2nd. on a planned snack. Helps me to space it out throughout my day.

Enough...You are so lucky to be able to motivate yourself to exercise. I just wrestle with it all the time. I guess we all have our strong points, and our weak points. Exercising is mine. I will try to do better, keep encouraging us friend.

I have office work to do for church tomorrow, so I better say bye for a little while. Keep it up everyone you are special to me.
  • Hi Everyone

Well, I am still at work because we decided to trade in husbands 2005 Double Cab Tundra for a 2006 4Runner 4X4 He only has 3800 miles on the truck but because it is so darn big we/he does not like it. We are having the huge sale and the lease rate is crazy low we thought what the heck Actually we have had his truck a whole year and never took it any where because it was always so hard to park. I think we will like this 4Runner better.
Well I have not really cheated, they fed us Panda Express for lunch and I had a very small plate with veggies and chicken. I also did 2 miles on the treadmill this morning, now if I can just hang in there a few more days because it won't be long till we cruise

Sounds like everyone else is doing well, Have a Great Weekend
  • Good Morning Chicks & Reggie

DD is still here and yesterday I fell off-plan a little, but not too much. She wanted to go to Steak & Shake (also one of my favorites) so I had a single with no cheese & no mayo and lots of veggies. I ate both pieces of my bun, but only about 10 of those skinny fries. Not too bad....but then I came home & had about 6 pieces of dark Dove chocolate. DD will be here til tomorrow, when I must send her back to her little family in Wyoming. They need her. Her hubby is so good, but is almost at wits end trying to take care of almost 2 and almost 4 year olds without her!

Today we will eat lunch out, visit some friends and shop a little.

Looks like ya'll are really doing well....Lisa....you CRUISE NEXT WEEKEND!! Lucky You!!! Have a wonderful time!!!

I think I'll get some little barbells to do those arm exercises while I watch TV....my arms are the worst, so maybe that will help tone them a little.

My hope for this week is NO GAIN....with all the eating out and stress of my Dad and all. I'll be checking in tomorrow with my report.

    Have a great Sunday Everyone!
  • Atlantic Canada checking in again.
Wow, this board is busy. Love it, love it.

Enjoy that new vehicle, Laffin. That just another type of NSV and we all need those. I think you put it well, Enough when you mentioned that food was still a problem. I honestly don't think it will ever stop being a problem. We all have things that really trigger us. Like Cheryl mentioning the word 'tortilla'. I'm now salivating at the thought of nachos with salsa and cream cheese. Oh Lydia Mae, I relate to your arthritis. I use a cane for extra stability . . . except when I'm pushing a shopping cart. Love going to stores with carts.

Speaking of NSVs, I think Reggie really hit it. The NSVs are what really count, gang. Things like spending more time with family and friends, feeling healthier, clothing that fits again, occasional compliments from friends. The scale is just a mechanical device. Sometimes it gives good numbers and sometimes those numbers don't look as good. Always remember that each of us is so very much more than just a number.

Well, I'd better get dinner on the table. There's a pork tenderloin in my slow cooker and it smells soooo good. At least it's driving the nacho thoughts away.

Here's wishing everybody an NSV day tomorrow.
  • Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Didn't have time to post last night, we gave our foster daughter a surprise Birthday Party. She was surprised. I made sloppy joes, cole slaw, chips, cake, and fat free frozen yogurt. I had a very small piece of cake and 1/2 cup of yogurt. I'm happy that I used all my points without going over. I even counted out 11 baked chips, and didn't touch the regular chips, which I LOVE. Points mean everything this time around. I have no intention of putting pounds back on, that I worked so hard to get off.

Have a good week. I'll be back tomorrow and catch up reading the other posts.

    Cheryl
  • New here!
Hi everyone, I am new here as well as new in my weight loss journey. I can use all the help and encouragement I can get. I am very much lacking in the will power department. I would love to find a buddy (and new friend) who wants to keep in touch on a regular basis.

I started WW and have already lost 16lbs. My only problem has been exercise. I have severe arthritis in both knees so exercise is difficult. But must find some form of movement to get this body going!

I hope to hear back from anyone, cause it will be so much fun to do this "with" someone than by myself. Luck to everyone on this journey!

    Carla

  • Hi Carla!
It's good to have you onboard. Sounds like you're off to a good start in your weight loss efforts.

Too bad there's no such thing as a "willpower" pill...right? Sometimes I have it and sometimes I don't, hence many years of yo-yo dieting. But I keep on trying and trying....This time I am trying to eat healthy for life, so I can enjoy a healthy life!

So far this year, I have eaten very healthy...but have not exercised much. So there is still room for lots of improvement. This forum is great for motivation and encouragement, and reading about all the exercise some of the ladies (and guys) do may get me moving more yet!
  • to everyone ~ I'm not so good at remembering names, I guess it is something that comes within the territory of being over 50.

I haven't posted for sometime, but been reading the posts daily. So nice to see that more and more are joining our group.

Belated Happy birthday Joan. Nice to know that you've had a good day.

Congratulations to all who have lost weight.

I weigh in on saturdays, but I decided to post on mondays, like most of us do.
Actually, there is nothing exciting to write about, I did not lose any weight last week. Most of the time I've been eating according to my plan, and been exercising daily and yet it did not seem to help in any way. OK, I've been cheating occasionally, nothing major really.
I can look on the bright side ~ that I did not gain any weight!

Guess, I need to try harder.

I hope, everyone else is doing better than me.
    Have a great day everyone...
  • Good Morning
Carla.... Glad you found us. We are here for you, so hop on board. We are all going to be Fit and Fabulous in our 50's.

Elyn...Hey girl, you are doing great. So you didn't loose any weight this time, you are building muscle with all the exercising you are doing. I'm sure next week you will see a loss, beside, look on the bright side You didn't gain either.

I'm happy to report that my scales said 342.6 this morning for a total loss of 13.1 pounds. I have made and passed my Valentines Day goal I set for myself. I'm ordering the new bras for my reward. Now to see how much more I can loose by Feb 14 before I set a new goal for St Particks Day.
Well my friends, I check back later. Have a wonderful day.
