  • hi all ...

sorry about the previous note ... I was trying to figure out how you all did so many cute little smilies in the middle of your notes. I can't say I've got it but at least for this one, I'm in the place where the smilies are. That's not the greatest sentence I've ever written ... but hey, I'm looking at a bunch of little round heads making faces at me.

Anyway, my husband was trying to help me at the same time we were deciding what to have for dinner. I'm baking spaghetti squash to make something that sounded really good and counts as a vegetable ... mixed with parmesan cheese and ricotta cheese . The only problem is that you have to good the squash first and let it cool before you can mix it with the other ingredients and then you ahve to cook it again. So it will have to wait until later. We settled on "mock french toast" which really isn't toast at all ... probably more egg than anything but you can put SF syrup on it so why not pretend?

I can't get back onto the other track so I'll just respond without being able to remember who was having trouble with the signature tracker. THe only way I've been able to change it was to go into the edit signature portion of your profile and go down to the part that has three numbers on it ... I cant remember the order but one is for your current weight or pounds to lose, the second is for your goal, and the third is for your beginning weight or pounds. Then hit save and it should be there. It took me many tries to get it to work (almost made me crazy ) and I almost gave up but it finally did work for me.

Then, of course, I hit a plateau and haven't been able to move it since! But I'm still working at it.

Well, I can hardly wait to see if this little smilie experiment worked.

bye for now! have a great weekend! Joan
  • [COLOR="Blue"]Hi to Everyone,

Hyacinth....Day 10 on Atkins...You go girl! I also have a problem of wanting to snack at night. I try not to eat anything after 8, but sometimes I do. I now have some WW mini bars that are only one point, plus lots of fresh fruit and vegtables cut up and ready to eat, but there are times I REALLY need something sweet.

Jill...Yeah!! Smaller pants always feels wonderful.

Janet...Going for a sailboat ride sounds wonderful. Watching whales, even better. Enjoy your weather.

I'm happy to report that I have been good, still have points left if I need a snack later on. Cleaned house today, but didn't get any exercise in except for mopping floors, and I consider that exercise. Should of went out and shovel the porch off, but with the wind, thought it would be a worthless cause. The snow will still be there in the morning, unless by some miracle we get a heat wave over night.

Have a great weekend, and I'll try to check in later.

Thank you Joan, it was me that couldn't seem to get the tracker to take the revised numbers. I appreciate the great instruction!!! I'll try them this weekend.

Thanks for the encouragement Cheryl and the same to you also - It sounds like you had a very good day!

Me too as far as trying to cut it down at night - I've been having herbal tea with some splenda in it to try satisfy any before-bed food cravings. Right now since I'm on Atkins Induction I can't have any fruit, so the tea helps.

Good luck with your program too

  • Hello everyone . . . I'm still out here.

The last couple of days have been really weird. You know what they tell you to do when life hands you a bunch of lemons . . . well, I seem to have misplaced my lemonade recipe at the moment. Oh well, I'm sure it will turn up soon. Nothing keeps me down for long.

Hyacinth . . . if you're still having problems with your tracker, look at Suzanne's post under "announcements and forum help" . . . third "sticky" from the top is about setting up and changing trackers. Good luck

Thanks for telling me about the "no Pudge" site, Gail. They tell me that both of the major grocery chains in Atlantic Canada carry their products, but when I went and checked . . . zippo!

Anyway, I'm not going to get too upset about it. From the sounds of things (from reading the "no Pudge" site), the product is fat free but I'll bet it is still full of sugar. For a diabetic that is a bigger concern than fat. A little sugar is OK but most brownie recipes have more sugar than flour. . . that's not a "little".

I just came across a brownie recipe based on tofu. Wow, doesn't that sound yummy Maybe I'll try it . . . someday (but probably not too soon). Can youtell that I'm not a tofu lover?

Anyway, I shall close for now. Will be back when I'm in a better mood. In the meantime, I wish everone a great day.
  • Freda ~ yes, the beach is a perfect place for AM and evening walk, even during winter especially on the days when we have sunshine and during summer, sometimes there is daylight till almost 10PM. However when we have a storm, then, it gets more windy by the beach.

Linda ~ yes, it is beautiful by the beach, and we also have the woods and the hills in the area, so I actually should be able to get a good exercise by just walking but I'm so LAZZZZZY, it is so cooooold and it takes some time to put on so much layer of clothing.

Quote: Girlieyorkie, I haven't been to Denmark yet, I very much want to go. It was always described by my Dad as pretty idyllic....except the winter weather.
Bunti ~ yes it is pretty idyllic, I have uploaded a picture of our house in my profile,(taken from our boat) you can check it out if you want, and yes our winter is not that great, we tend to get more rain rather than snow, except this year. I love it when it snows.

Cheryl ~ don't worry about the gain, and I see that you're back on the wagon again, so they will come off again. We just all have to persevere, and be patient ~~

And with my patience and perseverance, I'm happy to report that after 2 weeks of plateau, I finally lost 3 pounds, yay! Ok, actually it is only 2.8 pounds, but it is soooo close to 3 pounds, so I guess I'll round it off and move my tracker 3 steps. What do you think girls?
So now my BMI is down to 29.53, and I have crossed over the line from obesity to overweight. Never thought in my life that I would be happy just to be overweight. However, I'm still on the higher end, so I still have a looooong way to go.

    Have a great weekend everyone~
  • WOW!!

Elyn your house looks great. What a lovely location. How long have you been there?

Thanks everyone for the encouragement... you guys are the best! Regarding Pilates. I will check the internet sites and our local bookstore. We don't have Walmart or Target, or for that matter any chain stores but Costco here. Thank goodness though, that we have Curves.

Seem to be doing better with the healthy food plan. I keep using the Flylady Mantra."You are not behind, jump in where you are!"

Have a terrific weekend ladies, and Reggie. Linda, hope you find that lemonade recipe..sending good thoughts your direction.

    See yall later..
  • Elyn,

I looked at the photo of your home; what a lovely place to live! Do you ever get homesick for the good ol USA and any family you might have left behind?

Way to go on your 3 pound loss!!! I sure would like to be in the overweight column on those BMI charts also. Obese sounds so much worse for some reason.
  • No Pudge Brownies
Elyn...Your home is lovely and so close to the ocean, how you must love it! I moved from the west coast to North Dakota and miss the ocean soooo much. Whooo Hoooo on breaking your plateau. 3 pounds is Grrreat!!

Hyacinth....I tried a cup of herbal tea lastnight, took care of my craving and also relaxed me. Got a pertty good night of sleep. Think I'll have a cup of herbal before bed from now on.

    Linda...Here's a recipe for brownies

    No Pudge Brownies

    3/4 cups flour
1/4 cups plus 2TB cocoa powder
    1/2 cup splenda
    1/4 tsp baking soda
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
    3 egg whites
    1 tsp vanilla

Combine dry ingredients. Stir in applesauce, egg whites and vanilla. Spray an 8" baking pan with cooking spray. Spread batter evenly in pan. Bake in a pre heated oven at 350 for 20 minutes.

    16 servings = 1 point
    8 servings = 2 points

I haven't made these yet, but I have tried the No pudge in the box. I cut a pan of brownies, put into baggies and freeze. Take out as I need a treat.

I'm having a great day so far. Got the house and the computer to myself for the day Had a 3 point breakfast of cheese egg beaters, with 1/3 cup of soy crumbles, mushrooms, red onion and a tangelo. The scramble was really good. I know it might sound wierd, but lately I have been having a can of Preogresso soup for breakfast. It's only 4 points for a can, and we are big soup eaters, but homemade soups can be high in points, so this keeps me from over indulging in something that I love.
I'll try to check back later with all of you. Have a great Saturday, the sun is shining here. Yeah!!!

    Cheryl
  • Wow, Cheryl, thanks a bunch. I'm definitely going to try that recipe. Sounds great. Although I don't know if it can really be any good . . . I mean, after all, there's no tofu??? As you can probably tell, my mood is improving. I'm so glad you are all here. It really helps.

We are (were, since it is now almost 7:30 pm) having a gorgeous, sunny day, too. We are supposed to have another blizzzzard tonight and tomorrow. We'll see.

See you later, everybody, keep up all the good work.
  • Cheryl . . . Where did you find that brownie recipe? Because unless there is a missing ingredient or two, I only calculate 8 to 9 points for the whole pan. Which, of course, is good news, but a little hard to believe. Maybe they calculated a bunch of added nuts but didn't list them. That would add up quickly. Or. . . maybe I'm missing something in my calculation???
  • Linda....I forgot along with the 1/2 cup splenda, there is also 1/2 cup sugar. I found the recipe on Diet weight loss Community. Scroll down to the Weight Watchers recipe, click Desserts. It's the first one.

    Cheryl
  • Thanks, Cheryl. That is definitely the missing 8 points. You know, I might try it with all (or almost all) Splenda just to see what happens. I'll let you know.

    See you soon.
  • Hi everyone - just got back from exercising with my daughter!! that brownie recipe sounds awesome!!

    Janet
  • Trackers
Thanks Joan and Meowee for the advice on how to change my tracker - I finally got it figured out with your help

Not many designs were available so mine's kind of ugly right now - lol! But at least it reflects the correct numbers. Tomorrow is my weigh-in day so I thought I should practice today at REVISING the numbers (I hope I hope I hope!)

Off to eat my omlet, good thing I really like eggs...
