Welcome Sarah Ann, So nice to have you aboard! This is a great bunch of people (Reggie, notice I said people, not ladies, for a change). Make yourself at home here and visit often! Yes, it does get harder to lose, but that doesn't mean we can't. We just have to work a little harder. And then make sure it stays off!!! We've got a "pinkie Swear" going to continue to post after we get to goal. Keeping the group together! Hope you'll join us.

Gail, YeaH!!!!! That is awsome! If you don't want it, i'll take it! I haven't heard the new "walk the Line" CD. But i'm a country music fan from way back. I haven't seen the movie yet either. How about you? It's really supposed to be good. I wasn't too shure about Reese playing the part of June but they say she nailed it!

I'm doing great so far today, but you know that night time is NOT my time!!! What is the worse time for you and your hardest temptations? How do you manage them?

Freda

Jill I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I didn't say that in my post because I hadn't read back far enough. Sounds like a wonderful person !

Good afternoon, all!

Sarah and Helen, This is a great site with fabulous people, so I hope you'll visit often. It's great to have a place where you can get encouragement and unconditional support!

Luflic, I'm really enjoying the Sonoma plan. I haven't had sugar cravings in over 3 weeks (I started on January 1st, and am a confirmed chocoholic). I have a lot more energy and am much more clear-headed than I was when I was eating poorly, so I'm hoping this time the new habits will stick! Over the weekend I read a couple of articles that also stress the same principles as Sonoma: portion control (including one article that even suggested dividing your plate into 4ths, which is what happens on Wave 2 of Sonoma), no refined sugar or white flour, increasing your intake of foods such as olive oil, almonds, blueberries, etc. that have proven to be healthy, etc. I'm enjoying cooking again and using herbs and spices, not heavy sauces, to prepare our meals. My son is even tolerating some of the new recipes!

I lost another 3 lbs. last week, and made it to the gym 4 times. My goal was 5 times, but by Friday I was just beat, so skipped it. I did, however, walk a mile around the high school track on Saturday while my son was playing in a baseball game, so that counts for something.

To those of you who lost this week, CONGRATULATIONS. To those who didn't lose or even gained, don't give up -- this will be a better week.

Reggie, you are amazing! No way am I going out for Mexican food right now! And, how you manage to stay away from the bar snacks in the CLF lounge each night is truly awe-inspiring!

Jill, it was wonderful talking to you this morning! You're handling everything so wonderfully, and remembering the happy memories you had with your dad! That will continue to be a great comfort to you, I know.

Laurie

Jill, so sorry to hear that your Dad passed away. You and your family are in my prayers.
I understand very well the pain of losing a parent; my Dad passed away 5 months ago, a month after he turned 81. It was very difficult to let him go, but I'm sure he was ready to rest in peace.

to all the new guys, we're all happy to have you around.

To all who have lost, congratulations

To those who did not lost, no worries, I'm sure it will come.
We just have to persevere, and be patient.

Reggie, yay~ 5 pounds. How do you do it man?

Lisa, when are you going to upload pictures of your new dresses? I'm sure everyone would love to see them.

I have just ordered the Sonoma book, I miss my red wine, I would like to see how I can I can incorporate it in my diet and hopefully still lose weight.
I have been reading the posts in the Sonoma Diet section, and it seems like most of them are losing weight only on the first week. However, I've read that it explains clearly "portion control", which is my downfall~ my portions are way to BIGGGGGG...

Good Afternoon Everyone

Jill, How are you doing Hope you are hanging in there.

Congrats to all those that did loose today and Freda don;t worry that you did not loose. I am sure next week there will be a loss. Besides Just the fact you are posting means you care about losing and you will.

So far today I have been very good. I walked 2 miles this morning not sure if I will get back on the treadmill any more today or not. As for tomorrow and the treadmill since I have to leave my house by 6:50 to make an early meeting here at work I will be lucky to get in 1 mile and tomorrow night we are going out to dinner for a friends Birthday. I had one of the really good LC Panini's for lunch it was the Southwest Chicken and I had some carrot with it. Tonight sincw Tom does not get off work till 6:30 rather than cook we decided to definitely go to Applebee's so I can be really good.

OK as far as the dresses I think you will probably just have to wait till after my cruise to see them I doubt I will have the time to take pictures of them before we leave but I will definitely post pictures once we get home.
I am anxious to weigh on Thursday because this morning when I got dresses I put on a pair of dresses pants that felt really loose so if anything I am loosing inches.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Freda,

I like my night time snacks also, so I've been having them, and still losing weight (just a pound or two a week but still a loss).

I've been having a vitalicious muffin top with fruit and cool whip. Weight watchers has some delicious desserts also. or you could have a mini bag of popcorn, or any other snack that is about 200 calories or less.

I look forward to a snack during the evening when I'm watching TV or reading so I like to plan so I can afford calorie-wise to have one. I know some recommend that you don't eat after a certain hour, but I am also a night owl, so maybe that's why I can eat a late evening snack without it hurting my diet.

Or if you think you've eaten too much during the day to indulge in a snack, you could at least have some sugar free jello with a little dab of cool whip.
I like the sugar free jello cups that are only 10 calories.

So far during this diet, I haven't bought any angel food cake, because I'm trying to eat healthy food, but angel food cake with strawberries is a delicious low fat snack.

I think we need to have a food plan that works for us individually, and not totally deprive ourselves of what we love best, in order to stay on a healthy diet forever! (In my case, it's sweets!)

Anyway, that's what I do, and so far it's working for me.

Liz,

I too have a small Zoo Two toy poodles, 1 cat who really is the ruler of the house, a tank of fish and 3 parrots, (Umbrella Cockatoo, Lessor Sulfurcrest Cockatoo and a Green Cheek Conure) sounds like we have a very similair zoo It also sounds like you came to the right place. We are all here to help. Some of us have short term goals and some have long term goals but we all have the same struggles with our weight and want to do something about it.

Sarah Ann and Liz to the Chicken
Coop! Can't call it a hen house since we have a rooster. We have a great bunch of people here, who really care about each other.

Freda and Luflic...Your building muscle, I know that you both will show a loss next week.

Reggie... on your 5 lb loss. Sound like you are back on track.

Gail.... Way to go on your 1 1/2 lb loss. WoooHoooo

Well people, I had a good day. I stayed within my points and got my exercising in. Don't know if it will last or not. On my way home tonight, I hit a large deer. Thank the Lord, I missed the other two, but I didn't see the third one till it was too late. My husband and I were hoping we would make it through this winter without hitting one. And we swore if we hit one this year, we would take it home and call the game warden. To big for me to load, and venison sounds pretty good.
According to my scales this morning, I weighed 344.0, for a total loss of 11.7 pounds since Jan 3rd. I'm so proud of myself. Looks like I will meet my goal of 12 lbs by Valentine's Day.
Have a good evening.

Cheryl

Welcome Liz, glad you're here!

Cheryl, hope that deer didn't mess up your car too badly. I know hitting a deer can be dangerous.

Wow, you've almost reached your Valentine's Day goal...and it's way way early! That should encourage you to keep up the good work. Who knows what your weight loss will actually be by Feb 14?!

Welcome to all our newcomers ... I never dreamed there were so many of "us" out there.

I turned 55 today AND it's Monday! So, I wasn't too sure about weighing in ... I've eaten out three times this past week and I was not at all sure what to expect. But I lost 1/2 pound ... not a lot but something. I have often gotten discouraged because the loss is not what I think it should be ... this time I am just grateful for anything. I know that eating out stretches my ability to stay on the path ... and I did splurge some ... but I didn't go overboard.

So, congratulations to everyone for just being here ... and wanting to lose. I think that is the hard part and knowing that we are all heading in the same direction is encouraging.

I don't know about setting a goal for Valentine's Day but it's probably worth a try. I need to lose 68 overall and I've lost 5 ... so maybe another 5?

Congratulations to all of this weeks losers. I weigh myself on Sunday mornings so I'll let you know how I get along.

That Sonoma plan sounds a lot like the GI Diet (GI stands for Glycemic Index) which is very popular over here in Great Britain at the moment. They recommend 'portion control' but I'm not great at deciding which is an 'average' portion so I'm using it in conjunction with counting calories. I'm not sure I'm losing any weight - but at least I'm not hungry!

I don't know what to do about exercise - I've always walked my dogs a couple of hours each day and I don't have much time to spare to do more. (At least the dogs are slim!!) I'm trying to speed up my pace and I'm 'thinking' about attempting to run some of it but I'll probably never get further than thinking about it.

Enough!

It's nice to welcome a fellow Hoosier!

Most of us have done this so many times, and you're right...enough is enough.

It's time to get healthy, and take control of what's been controling us.

You've come to the right place to get lots of encouragement, support and tips on your last and longest weight loss journey.

Gail
