That''s great Synn. Have you thought about making a weight loss time line. I'm going to do that today. What you do is project ahead, for example say you want to be 200 by March 31 then you put that weight there and a little prize/incentive listed too. That way you can visualize where you're going. Just a thought and something I'm going to try. It's amazing how counting calories, eating healthy foods and exercise does the trick! Good luck. I'm here for you

Tiredoffat you must of read my mind. I was just thinking yesterday that this site needs some changes. I knew that because you started this one that you were the one to talk to. I got on and you had already had it going. Your something else! Thanks for being here. I think its a great idea and we need to start fresh and set some goals. I already set my goal for the 5lb. end of Feb.. According to the book from Dr. Phil this is an important step, time line. I think my prize will be a new spring outfit. Well the last few days have been tough but now I feel ready. All those female problems really took a toll on me. Oh sometimes life has to throw in a few monkey wrenches. Something that worked for me before is a 10 day new habit starting something and keeping it up daily. Maybe for an example mine was using the stairs at work v.s. the elevator. It worked before I knew it that became my routine. Synn I look forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with you. Every little change makes a difference. I am on my last part of Dr. Phil and will hopefully finish it up tonight. Has anyone heard of the Abs Diet? It was in the Prevention Magazine and got great reviews. I may try to get it from the library. Well take care everyone and keep up the good work! I am going to get to the gym today and get my hair trimmed too! New me starting today!!! Hah Hah!
I am also going to drink my water and eat only healthy. Going to stay at 1500 or less today!

Hi--

I'm trying to recover from a very tiring and aggravating few weeks! I haven't been able to focus on my eating, and I injured my back so I haven't been working out (although it's much better today). At least I haven't been inhaling ice cream or bourbon the way I might have a few months ago, so I guess I'm learning how to be a little less self-destructive.

I'm still a few pounds off my Valentines Day goal, so I would be up for a new short-term challenge. It's good to hear all of your 'voices' speaking so honestly and positively! Must run, will be back tomorrow. I promise!

Lightbulb I'm Baaaaaaaaack!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry to have disappeared for such a long time. It hurt me more
than it did you (gee, where have we heard that phrase?).

I've gained the weight I lost back. I'm up to 169 now. I didn't want to
post till I caught up with your posts.

Julie, I'm glad you're well and it sounds like we have both been through
some "stuff". I'm back with my tail between my legs.

I have started taking a water exercise class once a week.I've been going for 3 weeks. It's such a great gentle/hard form of exercise. I've also done a few turns at the gym pumping iron--about 10 lbs. It's pretty humbling.

Well, I'm ready to get with the program again. This extra weight hurts my feet!!!!!I know that when I can feel the fat on the top of my feet shake when I walk barefoot, it's time to drop some weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I felt so much energy with the diet I had before Christmas.

I'm comforted that you are all still here. Thanks for being so consistant and for keeping this thread going.

I think I'll spend the next Christmas season in a prison camp.

I'll understand if you all shun me for awhile.

I'm so impressed with all your exercise and good attitudes.

It's good to be back,
Roll

Judy glad your feeling better. When we get sick or have problems it seems to take its toll on every area of our life. We are all glad that your with us and hang in there I know things will get better.
Rollmdl my dear friend there isn'[t a soul on this site that would ever look at you differently because you had some problems and left for awhile. We are just going to be excited that you are back. Now give yourself a big hug from me! Welcome back! For whatever reasons you left for awhile are your business and if you decide to share them we will listen but thats up to you not us. We are here to support you as always and we need your support as well. I am sorry for your hard time but as far as wt. loss goes knowing what caused you to gain is important. I have read that taking control and learning what triggers our eating is important knowledge. At least you have returned and that is a good step in the right direction. I recently got a book Tiredoffat was checking out The Ultimate Weight Solutions by Dr. Phil. I got it from the library so free is good huh? Anyways some of it I just skipped through but some of it is really interesting and has helped me focus a bit. I would reccomend it to others to ck. it out. One thing I am really doing is kind of what Tiredoffat said setting a time line , a goal. By setting the goals I seem to have more confidence in making it all happen. I had a set back myself sick etc. For awhile I didn't use the scale some of us can live with out it . I need it for a ck. and balance at least once a week. As I go on I learn more about what makes me tick. The thing about weight loss, health and lifestlye changes its very individualized. Tips and ideas we share are all wonderful sources of information. So keep in mind your not alone we are all on this boat together. We can do this and we are so glad to have you all on here!!!!!!!!!! Tiredoffat is talking of starting a new thread also. We are ready to spring into Spring!
Tiredoffat any more thought on the new thread? We would have to post something to let our friends know where we went to. Wouldn't want to lose anyone along the way!
Hope your doing well. I started just doing my intake in a note book for right now. Pre planned days around 1500 cal. w/ 3 workouts at least per wk. goal still 5lbs. by 2/28 we'll see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lightbulb Good morning

Thanks for your kind and welcoming words, Carol.

I'm thinking that my morning check-ins need to be brief. I'll have more time to post in the evening.

My food plan for today.
Breakfast: berry non-fat yogurt smoothie
lunch: chicken almond salad
snack: dried white nectarines
dinner: mostly vegetable beef stew

Thank you all.
Love,
Roll

Hi all. Welcome back Roll. Shun you - are you kidding! It's great to see an old friend return. With all the reading I've been doing about weight loss - turns in the path are a natural part of the journey. It's not a straight path!!!!! I'm just happy you've returned. How's your daughter?

Carol, thanks for the consistent feedback and support. The spring outfit sounds like a great outfit. I'm glad you like the Dr. Phil book. I find myself going back to it. It's very interesting what he has to say about strength training and how it reshapes your body and really helps with weight loss. I'm going to explore that when I have a little extra time. Until then I'm going to stick to the exercise and 1500 cals. I bagged all my clothes that are bigger than size 12 - and then I had to go out and buy a few new things. I must say it feels great!!!!! Now it's time to really get into the next part of the journey - the next 20lbs. Here goes. Glad you're all here for to journey with me.

Have a great night.

Hi, Roll--I'm glad that you're here. Let she who is without sin cast the first doughnut....

I'm talking to myself a lot, trying to get at whatever it is that's keeping me from building up some momentum lately. In the meantime, I'm going to focus on not eating once I've had my dinner and dessert, and on moving my body every day, which means aerobics or walking on the days I don't make it to the gym. So far today I've been EPP: protein smoothie for breakfast, apple and pecans for AM snack, salad w/chicken for lunch, protein bar for PM snack.

Have a good night--judy

Hello everyone. Well the doctors office called today about my bloodwork from last wk. Seems that it was off and my thyroid levels were messed up and lack of iron. I am still waiting to hear what their going to do. They sent it all over to my primary from GYN. I get so fed up sometimes with thinking I am eating good an not losing much. Well just maybe my thyroid is out of wack. Now I have a real excuse! Now isn't that something? Oh well already had surgery on that many years ago prob. just a medicine adjustment. But the bloodwork also showed some other problems with my iron levels. Boy I thought I eat so many veggies how could that be out of wack? Oh well I guess thats for those guys with the degrees to figure out its a waiting game for me to hear from them. Meanwhile I will continue on my journey to try and be healthy. Tonight I had a nice dinner with my grandson whom is 8 the hubby was ill with a virus. So he and I had cajun pork chops and stir fry veggies in a bit of olive oil and garlic, soy sauce. The veggies were all fresh they were tasty. I haven't had a evening snack maybe I will have a mango. Well talk to you all soon and take care stay healthy! Tiredoffat I agree with you about the turns in the road to changes. Making the changes in the long road make the difference. Which Dr. Phil did you read? I missed the strength training section?

Lightbulb good evening

Hi all,
Well, I tracked my food intake today and came up with 1630 calories.
I'm so appreciative of your support. I am planning on going to the gym
tomorrow. I know that the combination of being clear about what and how much I am
eating and exercise will be what helps me to take this
weight off.

I stopped posting because I was so overwhelmed with my life. I know
that taking care of myself physically helps me to deal with the pitfalls and challenges of life.

I'd better get to bed. A lack of sleep is one of my eating triggers.

That Dr. Phil book sounds pretty inspirational. Is it the newest one? I've seen it at Costco. Maybe I'll try to get ahold of one.

Take care, all.

Rollmdl I'm not sure if its the newest one or not that Dr. Phil has written. I just got it at the library and figure I will write down important info. to ck back on. I am glad you had a good day and hope your exercise will help you feel good and energized. I didn't realize how much I looked forward to the exercise until I didn't do it. I try to fit in at least 40 min. and shoot for a bit higher changing my routine a bit helps. I guess it makes sense according to some people I have chatted with to do cardio first then add in a bit of extra's. Good luck.
I am going to write up my intake now and I will enter in the calories later on. I am off to exercise this afternoon. It is snowing here this morning. I think I will put in for an hour of personnel time this afternoon. That way I can go to the gym right after a meeting. Take care all and we can do this!

Lightbulb quick check in

HI All,
I'm on track with my food so far today.

Had a Chinese Chicken salad for breakfast.

I'm up to 650 cals so far.
I'm doing office work today and am feeling anxious--like I want
to eat some comfort food. I had a cup of baby carrots. I'm thinking
that those crunchy carrots are more appropriate for anger management.
Oatmeal might be in line for a snack later on.

Thanks for listening. I know I sound a little wacky today. I'm just having
that "been away too long" adjustment period.

Thanks for listening,

Roll

Hi, like all of you I think I need to start checking in again. I just can't seem to get the momentum to stick to healthy eating. I'm exhausted but next week I have a week off and not a lot of plans so I think I'll be able to catch up. Here's a not too healthy eating day - but at least checking in will help me to stay on track.

exercise - 3.5 miles treadmill, avg 5.0 (good workout - hard!)
breakfast - cereal/milk (lots of fiber, skin milk) 260
snack - apple
lunch - salad w/egg and cheese (200)
here's the weak time 4:00, Cliff bar, yogurt w/peanuts (700)
dinner three pancakes and veggie chile - 700
total 1960 that's it for the day - too high, but not the worst.
I really want a new spring outfit and I want to hit my goal.
Thanks for being here everyone, I think I'm getting back in the routine.

Well, it sounds like everyone is doing great. Dr. Phil is great, I have one of his books about fixing yourself (don't remember the name anymore) and I read it a while ago...and oddly enough it helped for a short time and then all fizzled out of my brain. Maybe I should dig it out an read it again.
Other than that I tend to read Shape (subscription), Woman's World (buy it religiously) and Cooking Light (another subscription) for inspiration and new ideas as well as all the things we share here in the forums.
Example, I have read multiple studies lately that say coconut oil can help you lose weight rather than gain it as thought previously (natural=bad was the thought for many many moons). So you all know I will be sharing that info and many other little tips and tricks that I come across each day, week, month, or year....but again I cannot wait to start back up, just getting rid of the junk this week (three more days, as I start back up on Monday).
Hope everyone has a great weekend, and looking forward to Monday!
