Well for lunch I had salad, squash, baked sweet potato and a piece of steak...big lunch! Tonight I am going to walk and I plan to do at least 1.5-2.0 miles! A good 40 minute walk....putting son on rollerblades so I don't have to hear complaining I will walk this water right off!!!!!!! Not planning to go off program with new weight gain, I know it is just my system acting up.... going to watch the salt intake for the next few days and see if that might be it...

Congrats to all losers! I am ready to head out of this office and get ready for my walk....

Good Afternoon to all-- WIW day, I didn't lose anything, but am having TOM. Hoping this will mean a couple pounds lower when I finish up. This one took me by surprise, so one good thing was that I didn't have any PMS symptoms.

THANK YOU TO ALL FOR THE WARM WELCOMES!!

Zanne-- New snow this morning huh? Here in the Pacific Northwest we have had the mildest winter in 8 years. Hardly any snow. But the wind is blowing 40 MPH today. There goes my walk. Guess I really shouldn't worry....I definitely won't blow away.

Jackie-- Would love to see your beading. I have a cousin who used to do some beautiful work. Now with her nursing job and 3 boys, doesn't seem to find the time. Understandable!!

Monet-- Glad your lunch went well. And I am patting you on the back also. Way to go!! I don't even like my dh to use my digital camera!!!

Debelli--Thanks for getting me here. Don't know why I can't from the main site. Still only takes me to last weeks post.

Trish--Took your advice, and added eggs to my breakfast this morning. Are bacon and sausage allowed in moderation? By the way...how much oatmeal do I eat? I only used 1/3 of a cup because I wasn't sure. Thought I saw somewhere on this site, that it could be a cup???

Fillise-- Hang in there. Jump back on and know that we are here to help. I have been there and done that!! This time I swear is the last time. It is just too hard to have to lose it all again.

Country--Happy Birthday to your kids. Hope their day is extra special for them.

Sheanne--Welcome back, I am new here, but plan to be here for a long time. Will enjoy getting to know you.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. Dh is going in for a Myelogram. He has some pinched nerves in his back. They are planning surgery, but wanted to have this done first so that they can see more than the MRI showed. He has been in alot of pain since November. Hoping this will take care of it. So it will probably be late by the time I can get on here. Most of you seem to be EST, so will be in bed by the time I get back on here tonight.

QUICKIE...

I got MICHAEL to allow me on the computer for 5 lousy minutes, but I guess it's better than nothing. He has a big project to finish before tomorrow morning. After he leaves for school tomorrow the computer will be FREE, FREE, FREE AT LAST!!! He's headed to Orlando til Saturday for a French competition with school.

Didn't get to go up to Broward today, ELI'S car started to overheat. Had to fill it up with water and head home. Wasn't all that bad, at least we got to go to SHORTY'S for lunch!! Time for him to start really looking for a new car though-bad timing though, no $$$$

Will have to catch up tomorrow morning!!!

Well, my headache was too bad to go to small group. Tom went on without me, and my daughter decided at the last minute to go to a youth group meeting at church. I am sitting here munching on veggies and dip. I took three ibuprofens, and the headache is better. I was bummed to miss dinner out...

I have over 100oz of water in already today. Will probably top 125oz before bed, minimum.

LIN: It worked out perfectly at lunch...one of the ladies is newly pregnant and was not feeling so hot, so she did not come. There was only three of us, and that was a perfect number for the kitchen table! I did not have to deal with the puzzles at all! Hooray! Eventually I am going to have to though, right? Well, my motto is never do today what can be put off until tomorrow! Oh no! I just realized my mother in law (aka Mrs. Clean!) is coming Saturday morning for three days! Boy am *I* in trouble!

TRANQ: Hey, I can empathize with you on the mysterious inability to lose. In the past month, I have kept up the exercise, eaten well, and if I have lost three pounds, I will be surprised! I go to the doctor on the 18th, and I hope I can have at least 6 off by then. That will be one pound a week since my last visit. I am doing the same things as last month, when I lost ten in four weeks! I don't get it!

JACK: Just what are you doing with the beads? And you are making 1500 of them? Are you having that many people at the wedding? (gasp!)

COUNTRY: You are really going to town on that treadmill! You inspired me to add ten minutes yesterday. When I was finished, I felt kind of shakey. Is that how you felt?

TEENSY: I just realized she did not give me that digital camera back! I am going to go rifle through her book bag and find it!

MEL: I am sorry you are not losing like you would like. I can relate...and nothing is more frustrating to be doing everything like you should and not see any results.

DEB: Awful nice of Michael to let you use the computer for a few minutes! Glad you will have it all to yourself tomorrow! I remember when we had three kids, and one computer. We were at each others throats all the time! I am rather thankful that I am married to a computer geek, and produced another one. James made our computers for us which was probably a 50% savings...

Sorry, but my WIW post has to be shortened (my daughter is in a play that starts in 45 min)

Fillise (and any others that can relate): Lent will be a time for us both to renew our spirit and faith, but also a time for us to GET BUSY with SB! I too have regained because my brain went numb (or something). Personally I went in to a to heck with it all mode, but now I'm trying to turn it around. It is a DAILY battle with me! In fact, I'm back up 2lbs this week because I told myself that I could handle eating sweets at my daughter's birthday party last weekend and I haven't totally come back under control, even today I had herb bread with my salad. The next six weeks will be our detox, and time to reinvest in an investment that gave us ourselves back in the first place.

Fiber One is totally SB legal...for those who asked, even the DM herself eats it!

Good Nite.

I'm back from dinner. Had grilled fish, cole slaw and broccoli. And 1 fried green tomato. And lots of water. I got my 64 oz in.

Jackie-Were you always this motivated or is the wedding helping you? What color are your charms?

Quiv-How great to be in the 140's. Hang in there and don't snack--won't it be great to see a lower weight next week!!

BOB-OMG how I love Panera. I gain weight just walking in there. They do have a couple of good salads but the bread is to die for.

Kim--I LOVE the Ridgewood. The best BBQ in the country, don't you think?

Monet-Oh no not a mil--is she judgmental?

Deb-Sorry about the car. Cars are just too expensive to buy and keep up. Look forward to seeing more of you after Michael leaves.

Hi guys,
I'm really excited that I made it through my second day!
And I had a cake order and did not take one single bite.
Well truthfully its not that tempting, I would rather have some....
Ok i'm gonna stop there.

I am looking for instant yeast.....I can't seem to find it. Its the kind you can add straight to the flour...I want to make some WW pizza dough. Hopefully I can find it at TJ's.

OK
signing off for the night!

Hey Ladies,
I really did it today...total OP today, no mess up. I have yet to get another scale. I kinda quit weighting when I was doing Atkins because one week you could lose 10 lbs and the next 2 weeks nothing at all. We also did the measuring thing because muscle weights more than fat. I will be working out tomorrow, I have to caught up with you guys. If I don't make it to the gym, I will walk on the TM.

Hang in there ladies we can and will do this, ours is victory over anything. Was up late last nite and had to get up early this morning, so I'm sleepy now.

Goodnite all!

Greetings, all!

It was suggested that I come over here to post, so I hope I'm in the right place and not intruding inappropriately.

I'm new to all of this, and still working on getting it all down pat, so I'm a little neurotic about "slips" and so forth.

I guess what I'm wondering about is this: How to handle restaurants? I understand it's easy to ask if something has sugar in it, and once you know what kinds of bread to eat (not much in a restaurant) it isn't too tough, but I've had these problems:

1) I had a vegetable and rice dish with a brown sauce in it. I asked for brown rice and got white, but couldn't tell it was white until I'd eaten quite a bit and thought about it, and everyone was looking at me funny because I was making such a big deal about determining if it was white or brown. I suppose there isn't a good way to avoid that, but it was annoying.

2) The next day, I went to a veggie restaurant and got a wonderful faux meatloaf, no sugar added. As I was eating it, I noted a few stray corn kernels in it, not mentioned in the menu. How in the world can I possibly remember to ask about corn?

So both of these things make me wonder: If I accidentally have a few grains of white rice, or a few kernels of corn (the meatloaf was 99.9% not corn), is this going to screw things up for me? Should I just never order that faux-meatloaf again, or is it sometimes okay if a little "illegal" leaks in?

And finally, what does one ask about in a restaurant other than "does that have added sugar" to avoid such instances in the future?

Thanks much, and looking forward to hearing back from some of you.

Best,
Kitt

Good Thursday Morning,

Hope everyone is chipper and ready to face the day. I'm today. Stayed up too late watching BBall last nite.

Had a busy night, went to dinner (and I'm proud to say stayed 100% OP. Had broailed fish, kale and a salad and WATER). Watched DH eat O rings and fried fish. Then off to the grocery to stock up. I now have fruit Yeah! Teh hoem to workout and just in time to watch the Wildcats blow out Vandy. Worked on beads for 3 hours.

Today will be busy with boxing up some old files. Keeps me from eating.

Bob, 190 oz of water? Is that a typo? Are you drinking the pool water? That doesn't count

Tranquil, that was a big lunch but a good one. Better to have it early in the day. Good for you having a plan to get that wt off.

Teensybean, I eat NSA bacon and sausage all the time. Never hurt me. Oatmeal is 1/2 cup uncooked. Regular oats not instant. Prayers for your DH test and pending surgery.

Deb, Good luck to Michael in his French competition. Sure he will do well. Bummer on Eli's car ruining your day. Hope you found something else to do.

Monet sorry your headache spoiled your dinner out. Hope you are feeling better. No No not 1500 people at the wedding. We are making wine glass charms and each person will get 4. There is about 360 people invited.

IDblond, hope the play turned out well. Like your thoughts on Lent.

Linworth, the wedding is part of my motivation but not all of it. My health was suffering and I got scared. Plus I was ashamed for my DH to see me like that. I really don't know what got a hold of me this time, but I hope I never lose it. We are using 5 different colored large beads which will dangle off the ring in the middle and then corresponding small colored beads on each side of the big bead.

Chris, WTG on avoiding that cake. That's not my downfall either, but I will say that DD had some cupcake batter last night that I could have stuck my finger in in a heartbeat,

Agape, Congrats on your OP day. Let's do it again today.

Kitt, Welcome to our board. Youare not intruding we love to have you join us. This is a great place for support and friendship. On the restaurant thing, I usually get steak, salad and veggies, or chicken and the same. I don't normally eat meatloaf out. I guess you could pick around the corn. I wouldn't think any restaurant would have legal breads or brown rice or legal pasta. Those things you need to avoid eating out. Good luck.

Have a great day everyone. Be back later.

Jackie

Good Thursday Morning All

Getting a later start than I thought I would today. Got in my walk, a sloooow walk at that, took me over an hour to do my 4.5 miles, but heck, sure is better than not doing it at all. It's so flippin hot out there, probably will break a record set back 40 years ago of 88 degrees! If this is any indication of what's to come this summer, we'll all be better off going to ****!!!! Anyhow, I've fulfilled the exercise challenge already this week AND I was able to get in more than 64oz of water as well, so I'm good to go!

Not much going on with me to tell so I'm going to jump right on in with where I left off with replies...

SUGARLESS, glad to see you back but sorry to hear your having a rough time with this WOE. I find that it's hard for most people to cheat and get right back on track, esp. at the beginning of this WOE. I personally to this day find it extremely difficult to get back on track if I fall off the wagon, but somehow, I do find my way back, just not as soon as I'd like. My suggestion would be to take each day hour by hour. Get through each hour until you've gotten through the day. Get past the first three days and you should be okay, I find those first 3 days to be the hardest. As for your DM, she can follow this WOE with doing minimal cooking-I don't cook and I do just fine. There's lots of prepared items or foods she can make really quick and easy. Maybe, if you're inclined you could make a dish and then give her a portion to stick in the freezer for future eating? Like the CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE, which freezes well and can easily be doubled. That's great you are going to the water class, sounds like fun!

MONET, I like eating pb&j. What jelly are you using, or did you make it yourself? How did the lunch you forgot about go yesterday?

QUILTER, that women who noticed your weight loss must of made you feel like you were on clound nine

JENNIFER, glad to see you back. You had me wondering for a while, what the heck a UNI was. Had to think about it for a minute, though I finally did get it! Remember, you can make meat in a dish go a lonngggg way if you want to, esp. when you like beans!

AGAPE, wow, not only did you have a housefull there, but boy, were they all keeping you busy. Isn't it nice to have babies around, esp. when you know you can give them back to their parents? I love taking my nieces out but happy to know I can take them right home when they start acting up.

TEENSY, thanks for posting your menu, I think it always helps to see what others are eating! Okay, here's my 2 cents my new friend....if you currently like the yogurt you are using, stick with it. It doesn't have to be FF at all. Now, to the bigger picture, I'm going to say you aren't eating enough. This is just as bad as eating too much. Unless you take calcium supplements you aren't getting enough calcium and also from looking, not enough fiber, though probably lots more than most people are. Not enough veggies but I have no room to talk, I don't either. Basically, all around, you aren't getting enough of all the foods you should be. This is my idea from reading your journal. I personally don't use fructose as it's corn based, but I do believe other may, in small amounts. Can't comment about the Atkins bars since I don't know the ingredients, but if they are SB LEGAL I would say it's a better alternative than junk food if you need one in a case of emergency, like to keep it in the car. Better to eat a meal if you're able! No to having to use FF products. This is NOT a no-fat WOE. SB recommends you should have approx. 30% of your daily calories come from fat (40% from carbs and 30% from protein) though you can lower this a bit if you wish. You NEED fat in your diet, just have to make sure it's the good fats. Keep saturated fats to 10% of your intake. The bread would be considered SB LEGAL as far as how it falls under the 3grams rule. What brand is it? Coffee is fine, esp. when it's decaf and REALLY OKAY IF IT'S STARBUCKS!!! Okay, just had to plug them for ELI'S sake! I mean, you are in SB COUNTRY!!!! Do you have a TJ's near you? How about a HFS (health food store)? Keep asking those questions, this is a learning experience and we're all happy to try and help!

ZANNE, sounds like you are definitely getting in that exercise. I'm hoping they get the airports taken care of as ELI's sister is suppose to come sometime early next week to visit and she'll be flying out of Toronto.

MEL, exactly how much more weight do you want to lose? Are you sure you're eating enough?

TRANQUIL, up 10lbs since when? Are things stressful at work, if so, that could be a problem. Stress caused me to gain 6lbs in a matter of a week twice! I'm sure with you eating OP 100% that gain is NOT fat. PLUS, with the exercising, you are building muscle, so do take that in to consideration.

JACKK, you'll have to post a picture of your handy work with those beads, not to mention a picture of yourself holding one up! (hint, hint). Good luck with your lent challenge!!! Nah, will walk and do the yoga. The yoga is so easy it just doesn't feel like I'm doing exercise. Not sure if I will say that as we start doing more and more poses, but for now, it's easy. Yes, my system is wondering what it's done to deserve such an abundance of water lately-already got half of it in for the day today!!!

CHRIS, kudos for getting through your second day. Keep it up and it will be smoother sailing. Okay, MONET should be able to answer your question intelligently, among other from this baord, about the yeast, but I would think it would be the yeasts they sell in the stores in the small packets, wouldn't it???

BOB, will have to try the Elmers glue idea! Def. going to try the Listerene for the grout!!!!! Can't say I'll try the one for the burnt tongue though What site did you get those from? THANKS FOR POSTING THEM!!!

SERENE, CONGRATULATIONS ON HITTING A NEW ALL TIME LOW!!!! That's wonderful news to hear! Keep up the great work!!!!

TRISH, up a pound isn't so bad, easy to take care of, not to worry, besides, it doesn't help nun anyhow! Def. no OLE OLE down in the KEYS. No, the reasons was I just don't like the drive there. B-O-R-I-N-G plus it's far and there's really nothing I want to do down there. PLUS, they wanted to go to the beach and you know, this woman does NOT have that word in her personal vocabulary!

ROSALIE, pizzas, did you mention pizza?? I wish I like to cook, I'd try my hand at making one, but I think I don't attempt it because I think it will get tossed in the garbage as my one and only attempt at one did so long ago. When are you leaving?

COUNTRY, I like the idea of that challenge. Will have to keep that one on a list to use for future challenges. THANKS!

MEESH, will have to ask what the PLOW pose is if I can remember. I wish I could comment on what you could do to get over the sleepiness from the meds you are taking, but I don't have a clue about meds and how they react in situations, BUT, we do have MELF and BIGK who are both nurses who could possibly shed some light on this for you, though BIGK hasn't been on in a while due to moving, but possibly MELF, or maybe someone else on the board who's experienced this. Have you checked out the web for possible answers?

FILLISE, you KNOW we are here for you, always have been, always will be! I will try to give you a call this weekend, if you'll be in. I know it's hard to see those numbers being up as they are, but sometimes it happens and we just have to pick ourselves up and dust oursevles off and get back on track. You've done it before and you'll do it again. Think of this as a learning experience of what NOT to do next time. We've all been there!!! No need for punishment, guidance is more the key along with some friendship and understanding.

SHEANNE, WELCOME BACK! Glad to see you are back on track and with us once again!

KITT, Definitely in the right place! Don't worry, all of this board stuff will come to you easily, not hard, just takes a time or two of posting to get it down. Restaurants can be a problem but if you ask questions that of course helps. I wouldn't worry about the little things. What you need to know that's very important on this WOE is this. If you pair up a low GI food with a high GI food you will get a moderate GI food. Meaning, that faux-meatloaf, even though it had some corn, isn't going to hurt you. When I eat out I usually won't eat something that I'm not sure what's in it, but if I were to do so I'd basically tell them, "can you please tell me if there's any sugars of any kind or white flour in this meal, as I'm highly allergice to it." Usually, the server will go back and ask whoever prepared the food, or look at the container from where it's coming from if it's a prepared food to see as they sure don't need a lawsuit on their hands from someone who is REALLY allergic to a food and not telling them, like those allergic to peanuts! Sometimes, as in the case of what I experienced on VD at Macaroni Grill, I ordered stuffed mushrooms. Read the ingredients listed on the menu, nothing I couldn't have, didn't even list breadcrumbs. They bring it out and it's topped with some teryiaki sweet sauce. I sent it back and didn't eat, no where was this listed on the menu and I double checked as we were walking out. Needless to say, I did complain to corporate office-wonder if this will be changed on the menu. Anyhow, you do the best you can and don't worry to the point you don't enjoy your meal. I'd be more concerned about portions.

WOW! Caught up, or at least I think I have. If I missed anyone, it's not intentional. Have to go get ready to go volunteer at the ministry today before I go get Lauren from school. Tonight suppose to go out to dinner with everyone but it's going to be late as ELI's son doesn't get out of work til 7pm. It's too late for me and I really don't want to eat so late, so may not go, or go just to be social. Depends on what time his nephew and GF come back as well.

Will get some recipes posted later this afternoon - promise!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Default Good morning.

The sun is peeping through the clouds this morning. At least we know the sun does still exist. What a blessing to get up and get moving this morning. Finished my treadmill and need to get some water in...I sweat like a little

Way to go Monet...yep I can relate to that shaky feeling. I've added 3 to 5 minutes to kinda slow down before I get off. It helps a lot. I had a headache last night also. Sure hope you are feeling better today.

Teensy...thanks for the b-day wishes for my kids. They loved dinner and the cake. It was a double heart with the jello poured over the top. My oldest will get his gifts closer to his b-day but my little loved his. My heart just swells when he gets happy over a pair of sneakers. He loves what ever you give him. Totally loving little boy...then again I am a little biased.

Deb...wtg on getting out there. In that kind of heat I think you are doing great. Are you getting my emails? I sent you a couple of graphics about a week ago.

Jack-k....hope the fingers are feeling better today. Are ya'll almost done making the charms?

WELCOME Kitt!

Gotta run and grab some water and a snack.

Love,
Crystle
