Hello everybody. Happy Tuesday Night to all my favorite busters of sugar!!!
I had a good day of eating today. Hope you did too! It's nice getting into bed and night and knowing you did a great job that day. I got a nice little compliment today. One of our consultants was in this morning. I hadn't seen her since before the December holidays. The first words out of her mouth were, "You look thin! You've lost weight." Wow, what a great way to start the day. I wish I could bottle that and take a swig whenever I get down in the dumps.
I'm so sorry I can't address each of you. I spent a bit of time on the chat tonight, but can't stay up any longer. Must hit the sack.
Just a quick note to BOB---How is Skeeter? Is he feeling better? I missed that show about a family from Johnson City! Wow, I wonder how they did. Was that the one where people got pissed because it was supposedly making fun of them and their rural ways.
Good night all. I will try to catch up with you tomorrow night. Hang in there, gang!!!
Ok, here I am back in action just in time! What is this about a family from Johnson City doing a Beverly Hillbillies? No way, there aren't people like that from here. I've lived here for 34.5 years and we are just a normal place. We have a Uni, 6 Mc D's, a few hundred traffic lights, a Mall, etc - everybody has electricity and the only unpaved roads are private driveways, and those are rare.
Are they serious??? Really? Shame on them!
Ok, back to SB. I am back on the meat. I didn't lose squat in Feb and I went overhoard on the carbs. I just couldn't keep eating plate after plate of veggies, and I am insulin resistant and have tough time with carbs. I did find though I can do a fabulous job at Veggie SB for maintenance! I'm okay with it.
I didn't mean to be away for so long. Been a long haul at work lately, and got caught up in site-stuff. I don't get here too often, and it is usually at the end of the week and I can't keep up with the weekly thread by that point.
Hello Ladies,
I have truly missed all of you. I have a lot of catching up to do. When you cannot do what you need to do, it is really hard to catch up. My daughters are doing fine. The one who had surgery is recovering quite well. She wanted to stay with mama, so I had kiddies galore! WHEW!! What energy they have. I had a 9 yr. old, a 4 yr. old, a 2 1/2 yr. old and a 3 months old baby to care for. Boy was that a job. Making baby bottles, changing diapers and cooking for the whole gang. But I am so happy that I was here to help. I hadn't had that much to hit me at the same time. The youngest daughter finally got moved last Sunday. I am still recovering . I still managed to stay OP.
I appreciate all of you for cheering me on. I will be back tomorrow to catch up some more. I am drinking the water and getting the fiber.
{{{{{XOXOX}}}}} @<-----
A very grateful heart for all of you!!!
Ljunel (slim and healthy)
P.S. I'm an eagle now, for real. I am learning how to soar thru and go above adversity.
Okay gang-- day three down. No sugar withdrawls, but then I have been on PP for a long time. If you wouldn't mind, I would like to post just todays menu, and see what you all think. I want to do this right.
Breakfast: 1 serving Oatmeal (not instant) with 1/4 c 2% milk, 1/2 c plain yogurt flavored with SF Torani syrup, (this is not fat free yet, as I am trying to use up what I had from PP.) 1 c decafe, black.
Lunch: 1/8 of a med. sized cantaloupe, (1/2 hour before) 1 small bowl of homemade ham and pinto beans.
Snack at 4:00: Orange
Dinner: 4 oz of baked ham, salad (romaine, 1 gr onion, 1 lrg mushroom, 8 grape tomatoes) with SB mustard vinegarette, 1/2 cup green beans. SF Jello.
If anyone can see a problem here please let me know. I think it might be alot of pork, but I baked a ham to take to my Mom's on Saturday, and am just trying to use it up. (Hence the ham and beans.)
Now for a couple of the questions I warned you were coming. I found some Fructose in the diet food section at the local grocery store. Is this what you all are using in the recipes that I have seen here? They have packets, or a granular.
I have some Atkin's bars in my freezer from the PP days. Do you think it would hurt to eat one every once in awhile as a meal replacement?
Do I need to go back to using all fat free products?
I found a SG 100% whole wheat bread finally, but one of the ingredients is High Fructose Corn Syrup. But it is only 1 sugar per slice. Is this okay?
Do I need to limit my coffee intake if it is decafe?
Monet: So far I haven't found the triscuits yet, but I did buy a box today. I got the fat free.... was that the right ones? If not dh will eat them.
You guys are great, and sorry I am taking up so much time with all of these questions. The book really is not to informative on some of these areas. I will go back to reading everything I can find on this site.
Well, WIW still has me at 171, but it's midcycle and I know I get bloated at this time. At least I'm not weighing more!
Had a great OP day yesterday. Lots of fruits and veggies, usually something I don't do everyday. Probably a few too many triscuits, but at least I ate legal. Lots of water too!
I'll be getting my exercise shoveling today. We've had about 4 inches of snow overnight with about another 4 to come. Almost every flight at the airport has been cancelled cause they just can't keep the runways clear. Tonight is supposed to get real cold again. Very weird weather.
WELCOME TEENSY--I think I'm right when I say that you have to be careful about FF products because they tend to have more sugars than regular-to make up for the flavor (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Read the labels.
I'm not confident enough to answer more of your questions, but there will be someone who can. Keep asking questions--you are probably asking about something someone else wants to know as well.
Gotta go get the munchkin breakfast. It's gonna take a lot longer to walk to school.
Just a quuick Hello!
I am off to the races. Have to go the derm, then to the gym. Oh what a feeling, it's been a while!!! To all of you have a wonderful day and remember to drink the water. I am talking to myself, too. I will be back later to do an update. Have to go now, to face the snow. Later...
We had a lively chat last night--it was fun to talk to everyone. I was a little short on getting 64 oz of water yesterday but am already drinking. Let's eat the way that will make us feel good we wake up tomorrow.
Despite a week of super clean eating, gallons of water, 4 weight workouts and 5 cardio session, I am at exactly the same weight as last week. And no hormonal blips to blame. I'm starting to get really annoyed, but there doesn't seem to be much alternative. I really don't think after all this time that I'm building muscle as fast as losing fat- that was true a year ago, but the muscle growth really slows dow. I'm just not losing fat any more, no matter what I do.
Teensy: Not that my track record is much good lately, but I avoided ANYTHING that listed high fructose corn syrup, even if the sugar grams were under 3. As for your menu, I would add a protein to breakfast- yogurt is an incomplete protein, tho better than none. As Zanne said, often the fat free products have more sugar and salt added to make them taste ok. Read the labels, don't just assume FF is good for you. The Bars are pretty crappy sources of protein, (gelatin = animal hooves), but an occassional one won't hurt you except give you a craving for sweet stuff. Your tongue doesn't know the difference between sugar and spenda or malitol. Hope that helps.
Zanne- How wonderful you are adopting a baby girl! Hope all goes smoothly and quickly.
And I don't like the metal monster this morning. I tend to be higher when I first get up and drop a bit as the morning wears on...so I will not officially report until later. (of course, if I am up, I deserve it...I got into the SB legal cookies yesterday, and over did it.)
I got a phone call last night from a lady at church. She wanted to ask me a question about our lunch meeting today, here at my house! Oh my gosh! I had totally forgotten! Now I have to clean and cook for the meeting. I don't feel like it either. The hardest thing to deal with is all my daughters jigsaw puzzles on the dining room table. She wants to put puzzle saver on them, and ran out. There are four of them! Two are already saved, but need a second coat, and two are not done at all. How can I serve lunch to four ladies over two big jigsaw puzzles? sigh. And WHAT am I going to fix? Right now, I am leaning towards shrimp egg foo yung....
I think I must be losing my mind. I let my sixteen year old daughter take my digital camera to school. I will be so happy when she gets home tonight and hands it back to me! I must have been having a brain poot, or something.
TEENSY: You menu looks pretty good to me. Do make sure you are drinking a lot of water to flush the salt out from the ham though! I use granulated fructose for some things. I think I need to be careful with it though, cause it could become addictive. I do better if I stay away from all sweets, or sweet substitutes. I think that depends on the individual though. You don't need to go back to fat free everything. Keep an eye on the fat, and don't use full fat dairy if you can help it, but don't obsess about it. Zanne is right...often the ff products are loaded with starches and stuff you don't want. Read the labels, and keep the sugars under 3. That bread would be ok. There is not enough of the corn syrup in it to raise the sugars about 3, so it will not have much of an effect on your blood sugar. If you concentrate on fresh fruits and veggies and lean proteins, you will do fine.
AGAPE: Good to see you back! You sure had your hands full with the kidlets! Glad your daughter is recovering nicely.
ZANNE: Wow, four more inches? I really wanted to see snow this year, but of course we did not get any! Next year, it will snow at the most inconvenient time! I just can't imagine what it would be like to get inches and inches of snow! Its been so long! (I grew up in the Chicago area...and we had some good ones! Only closed school once though. That was when there was a blizzard with about 36 inches over night! )
LIN: I enjoyed chatting with you some last night. Tell me something- how do you feel on Synthroid? Do you feel like it has helped, or do you feel the same as before? How long have you been taking it? I took it only about a year, before I changed doctors. The first thing mine did was change me over to Unithroid. The next change was to Armour, then he eventually decided that my problem was T4 to T3 conversion, so he put me back on Unithroid and added a special formula of T3. I finally started feeling better on Armour, but I am even better on the present stuff. It seems though that the more thyroid hormones I take, the lazier my thyroid becomes. (I am sure that is a reflection on its owner! haha!) Anyway, if you want more info, check out the articles on Dr. Mercola's web site. There was a new one in his newsletter today.
JENNIFER: I am insulin resistant too. My doctor put me on glucophage to help combat it. Everyone else who takes it drops weight, but not me! sigh. It think it is helping, just not as quickly as I would like. I find the biggest help for my insulin resistance is exercise. I had read that, but I can see a big difference when I walk at a moderate pace for a longer period of time. You will have to tell me what you find that works for you. Sometimes, I feel like it is too much to try and overcome..but then the alternative is NOT acceptable to me!
QUILT: Good morning! Did you get up at five and walk on your TM? I wish I could do that in the mornings! This morning, Tom got up at six, and I did not even notice. I had been up several times during the night, and was sound asleep. When my alarm went off at 6:30, I wanted to throw it across the room! I had FINALLY gotten into a good sleep and the dang alarm goes off. It was probably my fault though. I took my glucophage with a glass of milk at about nine thirty. It lowers your blood sugar, and hypoglycemia can cause insomnia. At least I have something to blame it on! Hope you have a terrific day!
LDBLOND: Sorry you missed chat! It was a rocking ride! I could not keep up! I am sure it was cause I was so tired! Is Fiber One legal? I will have to check it out. I bought oats to make my own granola yesterday. I really like cereal for breakfast, but there are not a lot of choices.
ACW: Good to see you in chat last night. Sorry I was so dull. I was just too tired to keep up! The screen kept beeping and jumping! It was almost funny....
MONET: Hello, dear! You know you really shouldn't talk to yourself. It makes you look old. Keep out of those cookies, and go clean before your company comes!
I am sorry that I missed chat yesterday...and posting! I was very busy at work, along with when I got home I fixed dinner, cleaned up and headed to bed...I was out like a light before 9:00 pm ever chimed by.... I have gained weight!!! I don't understand, though I am going to bring it up to the doctor on March 13th...I have gained over 10 pounds and I have done nothing but stick to being 100% OP, no overeating, been drinking water and decaf tea, not a lot of artificial sweeteners either...maybe too much salt...or maybe to many legal starchy carbs? Plus I have been exercising - so I am a bit down about that but not giving up....this is normal for me...though it is not a normal thing...
Hope the scale is good to everyone today. For me I stayed the same. I'll take it (guess I really don't have a choice do i?)
Sorry I missed chat last night. I tried to post my exercises on the board and my DSL wouldn't work. Don't know what is wrong with that. Just didn't feel like fooling around with it so I just dug into the beads and worked on them for 2 hours. Boy you don't have to worry about eating or drinking while you are doing beads. Busy hands.
I was a little short on my water yesterday. Only got about 50 oz in. Will do better today.
Fixed Bob's Black and bleu chicken last nite and boy the spices I used were soo salty. We could hardly eat it. I had bought this Zatarins (sp) creole spice in NO to put in bloody mary's and had never uesd it to cook with. So I didn't know it was that salty. My rings won't budge today so I know I am retaining a lot of water. I will have to drink extra today.
Did get my 3 miles walk in last nite and my workout done. I was pooped too. It didn't help on the scale today but maybe next week. I am determined to have a 100% OP week and weekend and to see a change ont he scale next week.
Lent has arrived and since I have "given up" all the things I could possibly give up being on SB, I think my "sacrafice will be to not eat after dinner and to stay 100% OP during lent. I hope I can do it.
Kim, What a nice compliment. That you give you a good boost. Keep up the good work.
Jennifer, glad you are back, just drop in when you can.
Agape, sounds like you were hopping. That is a lot of kiddos to take care of. So glad you managed to stay OP through all of that.
Zanne, Staying the same is ok. Much better than a gain. (I stayed the same again this week too). I can't believe you got all that snow and more to come. I though we had it bad. I don't think I could live there with all that snow and cold. Yes you will be getting your exercise shoveling all that.
Linworth, Yes it does feel good to have a OP day. I was a little short on the water too yesterday. Have to make up for it today. Have a good one.
Mel, I think our bodies hoold on to the fat for awhile before it will drop any. Does that make sense. Didn't you lose last week? Your body probably hasn't adjusted to the loss yet. Keep doing great and it will come. I'm telling myself that anyway.
Monet, throw a tablecloth over the puzzles, no one will ever notice. How about those Bulldogs beeting those Gators last night. Thanks.
Speaking of Gators, anyone heard from GatorGal?
Teensybean, Welcome to our board. You can get all your questions answered here. Someone will help you out. You have done awesome losing 81 pounds and I'm sure you will get those next 30 off too.
Bob, Yes I liked the joke. Someone has sent it to me a few days before you posted. Just forgot to mention it. You know I'm 50 now, CRS. Glad you and Kate are enjoying the water exercises. Are you still going to TOPS? I made your black and bleu chicken last night. I loved the cheese flavor but I used Zataran's creole seasoning I got in NO and I guess I used too much b/c is was so salty. DH couldn't hardly eat it and he drank 3 glasses of milk. I guess I will have to find some different spices to use.
Sugarless, Just jump back in here.Get the EAst Yourself Slim book or reread the SB book. You have some different motivation now with your MIL so maybe that will help. Just decide what you really want. To get rid of that fat or continue on as is? You have to make your own choices. Good luck We are here to help and support you.
ACW, glad to hear from you. Hope you can join us more often.
IDblond, glad you corrected your mistake and got right back on track. That is important.
Tranquil, I hate that you have gained 10 lbs for no reason. I sure hope your Dr can find the solution. I know it is depressing, but if you hadn't been OP it could be 20 lbs. Hang in there, things will have to change. Maybe journaling will help you figure out something. Hugs.
Hello! Just a quick WIW report. I was up 1.5 pound today. I truly didn't think I would be able to hold that loss from last week. Anyways, my total is minus 8 and I will be happy about that. My goal for next week is to be back down that 1.5 and be at my lowest for this year again. Of course, I would do a cartwheel if I could hit that 10 pound mark.
Just one quick response,
JENNIFER---I went to Milligan for 4 straight years so I know Johnson City like the back of my hand. I truly don't think there are any "beverly hillbillies" there either. But I have to say that the mall in JC leaves MUCH to be desired. My hubby and I went back for a visit last fall and we stayed across the street from the mall. It hasn't grown much in the 20 years since I've been there. BTW, do you ever eat at the Ridgewood??? Oh my gosh, splendid!!!
I hope you are all pleased with the results of the metal monster today. Personally, I'm continuing to abstain from getting on it but have to say I'm thrilled with the way my eating has been and that alone is good for me. Also, instead of being on the scale I'm using a measuring tape instead, at least at this time.
Didn't feel like walking today but got out there and did my 4.5 miles. Didn't do much jogging, just don't seem to have the lung capacity I did before, not to mention, it's hotter than all **** out there!!! This gives me my 3 days for the current weekly challenge!!!! I have to say, it was a productive session in the way that when I was about a half mile from the house I found....a matching hubcap to the one I lost!!!! I came home, drove back and got it. Now, I have 2 full sets of hubcaps for the van! Oh, the little things that make me happy
The water challenge, I did very well with that yesterday. Got in at least 90 ounces of water. Going to do it again today!!!!!
I want to thank all of you who joined me in the chat room last night, there were quite a number of us! It was so fun to talk to you all and even ACW joined us all the way from New Zealand!!!!!
ELI is off today and I think his nephew and GF are going to Key West. I don't care to go there so I think we may just do our usual. Hoping someone can p/u the kids for me today, totally forgot to tell them this was a possibility.
Did anyone check out the Tuesday Tips sight I posted? Any thoughts?
COUNTRY, glad you like challenges, I think if everyone agrees, we can continue doing a new one weekly, though after a while, I'm going to need everyones ideas.
TRISH, wouldn't I love to go with you to Vegas!! BUT alas, I can't Check out CIRCUS CIRCUS, my parents always stay there and find it to be a good deal. ELI and I stay outside of Vegas at THE GOLDSTRIKE which is really reasonable. We always rent a car. Thank goodness you can take 4 years to pay, I'd be dying if I had to pay that.
FILLISE, will have to check out those TULIP TREES!
MONET, spring, it's summer here already!
HEART, what detox thing are you actually following? I mean, where did it come from? Deer sausage? Do you make this yourself?
ZANNE, I just think it's so cool to be adopting another baby. I wish you and DH all the luck in the world and hope things go very smoothly for you all. Hope you feel better. Will keep you informed should we decide to make the trip to CA.
ROSALIE, hitting the urination station is good, but I hate when it happens at night!!!!!
SOL, hope you land a good job close to home!!! I had to laugh with the visions of dog vs man! Sugars and Flours book? I missed that somewhere. More info PLEASE!!!
CHRIS, I love TJ's and there are lots of options there, so you should have no trouble finding great SB related stuff! I can give you a list of what I like from there if you want.
TEENSY Glad you've decided to join us! I wouldn't bother getting the new book, I wans't impressed at all and there wasn't anything really new at all, just another way for them to make a buck! Never heard of SB FOR LIFE, what is that about? Try to find a copy of MICHEL MONTIGNAC'S book, EAT YOURSELF SLIM at your local library if you can-a good read and where the SB idea came from. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have, we're all happy to throw out our 2 cents worth of advice!
BOB, or shall I now call you BATHING BEAUTY?? That's great about the pool, keep up the good work. I watched some of MBA, probably watch just to see what happens next week.
Will have to p/u where I've left off later-have to get ready before the day wastes away.

Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the
stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:
Monday - Blue
Tuesday - Green
Thursday - Red
Friday - White
Saturday- Yellow.
So if today was Thursday, you would want a red twist tie - not
white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go
alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday through
Saturday.
Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in
the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and
even the one with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something
new.
It was nice to chat with several of you last night. Sorry I didn't have more time to get better acquainted with some of our newbies.
I am excited to report that I am down to 210, my all time low on SB.
I haven't seen this weight in more years than I can remember. I am really motivated to staying OP as I have two events this summer that I want to be much thinner for: A family reunion and a 30 year high school reunion. Can't believe it has really been 30 years??
Drinking at least 64 oz of water has been much easier since I've been using a large mug on my desk. It is a lot easier than counting how many cups I've had. I also use a straw which I think is helpful also.
Hope there a many more losers today and hugs to those that didn't attain what they had hoped this week.
Have to get some work done now...........will check back later.
