Well, I hope WIW is better for you guys than it was for me. I'm up a pound. Not sure why, but I'm sure there's a reason. I do know I've been eating too many starchy carbs, so I'm going to seriously try and cut those down. I'm sure it's the old portion size thing. I know for some reason I'm really swelled up, too (rings are tight), so I'll keep pounding back the water and try to cut back on the sodium. I made some sausage last night and it was pretty salty now that I think about it. It was a different kind than I normally use. I did get my water in yesterday (82 ounces), so it might have been worse if it hadn't been for Debbie's challenge.

Sorry I missed chat last night, sounds like you guys had a great time. The time was interfering with the Longhorns basketball game, though. Nothing personal, but I do have my priorities. If we can hang on, we may be looking at a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament!! Go Horns!!!!! Jackie, this could get interesting.

Susan - Our neighbor has a tulip tree and it's beautiful. Our redbud is starting to bloom and I think our mountain laurel is finally going to bloom this year. I love the way they smell. This one is right outside my kitchen window.

Heartmom - I feel for you having a sick husband. Mine finally went to the doctor yesterday and he has a sinus infection. They can be the biggest babies when they're sick.

Rosalie - I must have missed something. Where are you going?

Sol - Good luck with the interview. That would be great to have something with less of a drive. How's MS State doing this year? I haven't been keeping up with them as much as I did last year. I was cracking up reading your post about Vince and Vixen. I could just picture them out in the rain, Vince with his ever so stern look and Vixen, just being the princess.

Jackie - Sounds like you're having fun with the beads thing. See, if you'd have come to Orlando when we were all there, you could have had all of us working on them. Of course, after the wine we drank, no telling what they would have looked like (no names, but you girls know who you are, Wendy and Sonya).

Monet - Yikes, 3 of them in braces! Fortunately, my oldest son, just had to have a palatal spreader when he was about 6 and that fixed his problems. No braces for him and he has beautiful teeth. Since Seth's permanent teeth started coming in, we've known that this was coming. Good luck with the lunch today.

Quilter - Don't ya just love those comments!!

Teensy - I agree about adding some protein to your breakfast. I find that I make much better choices through the day if I do that. I've never used fructose because the only kind I can find is the stuff that's made from corn or something like that. I've had the protein bars on occasion, in case of emergency and not suffered in ill effects from them but after I'd been on SB for a while, they just tasted too sweet and awful for me. I wish someone would make one in a non-sweet flavor, like nacho cheese Dorito flavor or something like that.

Sabrina - Hang in there girl.

Debbie - Have fun with Eli today. I know why you don't want to go to Key West, could it be there's no Ole Ole there?

Wendy - Congrats on the loss!!

Well, hope everyone has better luck than me with the scale. If not, you're in good company.

    See ya later.

    Trish
  • Good Morning Everyone

Checking in for WIW. There are no changes here, the same as last week at 199.5. Still guzzling down the water trying to get in the 64 ozs. As long as I remember to fill the glass as soon as it is emptied I do o.k. I can't drink it when it is too cold so have to leave it out for a while then I can more easily guzzle down a full glass.

Going to have a busy day again. My second load of laundry is drying. I'm going to make some pizzas to-day to freeze. Want to leave some easy meals for my ds while I am away. Then have to get out to the bank and the library and maybe the bookstore. Need to find some reading material for while I am away.

Fillise - The worst month here for snow is usually January although we often get it in March and sometimes even early April. We had another storm last night and have 4- 6 inches again. I'm really ticked off with it all but what can we do. Have to go out later this morning and have loads to clean off my van. Luckily I have someone come to plough the driveway but have to shovel the steps and porch. I can add that to my exercise for the day. . I usually enjoy the first snowfall of the winter but by now I am sick and tired of it. Can't wait to get away from it all.

Jack-K - I am not going to London this time but to Spain and Portugal. We are flying to Madrid then taking a bus tour around the two countries. Didn't have quite so many potty trips last night.

Solshine - Glad to hear you are moving around a bit better. Sorry that interview didn't go too well. Hope you find something soon closer to home that you will be happy with.

Deb - I missed the TT site you posted. Will have to go back and check it later.

Gotta run. Sorry I can't talk to you all.

    Marie.

Fighting getting discouraged. Working hard..I mean sweating my tail off. Eating well and getting my water in. Weight is still up. Not TOM or anything. Oh well...giving it one more week. I can at least pretend it's muscle.

My son is visiting so this is gonna have to be a short one.

Deb...maybe the challenges could include something on an emotional level also....like finding something good about ourselves first thing when we look in the mirror...or something like that.

WTG to everyone for just trying..losing..gaining..staying the same..it's all in the journey. Hang in there and enjoy the ride. Life is a blessing.

    Love,
    Crystle

  • Morning all!

Welcome teensy!! Yay hurrah for new people.

About the bars - I dont like the low carb ones - the sugar alcohols and glycerin cause me problems (set off cravings, cause stalls, etc) What I decided to do for quick bars is I make my own (Ill post the recipe as soon as I find it) or Im doing zone bars (yes I know they are much higher in sugar than what is desirable - and they fit 40-30-30 which is closer to what Im following) Id rather have the _occasional_ sugar than the fake chemical stuffs.

As fas as WIW Im at 255.5 Which isnt a loss for me but it I did lose what I gained on my bender from last week ( i was up to 261 at one point) . I was on a low dose of steroids too recently.. and its gonna take a bit for all of that to get out of my system.

For the exercise challenge.. MOnday I went to Curves, yesterday was INTENSE yoga (intense for me but I got my big bum/tummy into the "plow" with the aide of a roller YAY ME YAY ME FIRST TIME EVER)

I do have a question. For medical reasons I have to be on an extreme dose of antihistmines. Like Extreme. (I have a severe case of urticarea/angiodema (read this as hives/joint swelling) caused by physical pressure (aka everything from pushing down on a knife to cut meat to walking on hard floors - lets not even get into the exercise stuff because I am supposed to banned from it - HAH I REFUSE!!)

So - any ideas on what I can do to counteract the sleepies? The pharmacist said she doesnt expect me to adapt to it and switching meds is not an option. (been on eneough to finally figure that out) For now I am letting myself sleep the extra hours and consuming a massive amount of coffee.

I have had this urticarea before. IT sucks. And its just a part of my life. I have been to docs both here and in chicago. They say its a rare thing. I have accepted it. I just have to live *with* it and not against it.

I guess I went off on a rant.. I need help to stay awake!!!!!

You all are such an inspiration. Have a wonderful day!
  • Ashes, Ashes, nothing but Ashes
Morning all--I hope all you wild things are ready to buckle down and get serious! I guess I have to fess up to being the wildest of them all.

I got on the scale this morning and I have gained almost 40 pounds from my all time low. I wanted to cry. I knew it was bad but it has just gotten out of control. None of my clothes fit me well and I feel miserable inside my skin. The acid reflux is back with a vengence and on top of it all this morning I saw on the Today show that sugar impaires your memory! It must because I sure seem to have forgotten everything I spent two and a hlf years doing! So needles to say I'm going to spend Lent repenting from "Fat the last six months." I just hope I can make it.

I'm going to need all of you to help me along the way. I'll try to be there for you as well. So far this morning Op--and orange and oatmeal with milk, agave, and cinammon for b-fast. I also had a tsp. of PB to add some extra protein to b-fast.

Monet-How do you have sunshine???? Send it this way. I drove down a street near my church yesterday and noticed that the dogwoods are really heavy with buds--they should be gorgeous if we don't have anyome really cold spells!

Heart--DH isn't going to have to have his tonsils out is he???? Then you'll have a third "child" in the house! WTG on the detox!

Zanne--I'd love to hear more about your adoption process. I've thought about doing that myself, so I'm interested in hearing what the process is like. Good luck!

Sol--Thanks for the link to the chicken recipe! I'll get it when I finish posting. I'll let you know when we are going to be in the St. Pete area. I'd love to see you!!!!! And princess!!!! Ok--and Vince (he seems to be the board sweetie)!

Serene--good to hear from you--say hello when you can--you know we love to see you here! Congrats on your all time low--whoohooo!

Jackie--the trip was fun, unfortunatly the dirty floors were still here when I got back (Just what DOES Belle do all day when I'm away??)

Coleen--Welcome! That's awesome--an 81 lb loss!!!! This is a great board and we are happy you have joined us!

BOB--I'm glad you are close--I'll let you know when we decide on our plans! I LOVE fresh seafood and know you will never lead me astray ;-)

Sugarless--I'm starting back too--so I'll be there with you if you want! There's no other way but to just do it--one day at at time. I think it is very important not to worry about more than one day--that can get overwhelming. If you need to take it one hour at a time!

Agape--Welcome back--whew it sounds like you have had you hand full with all them kiddies! Good for you for staying OP!

Mel--Have you considered the idea that you might have lost all the fat your body can stand to lose? I seem to remember that your BMI is excellent, a body needs some fat on it--maybe yours if fighting not to go below a certain level????? I'm just wondering.

Tranquil==stop it now before it gets to over 10 lbs! trust me--do not let this get out of hand!

    Deb--Dungeon Mistress--punish me now!!!!

Marie--I'll be sending springtime thoughts your way!!! That first snowfall is pretty, but it sure gets old fast!

I haven't been able to make it all the way through the list yet, but I've got to get ready for a meeting. Have a good day everyone. As a true attonement for my sins I'm going to list me weight and fully acknowledge how bad it has gotten. Oy!

  • I'm sad to see many of you feeling discouraged about problems with losing weight. Wish I had just the right words to give you encouragement besides to hang in there and don't give up.

Maybe this funny will give you a little smile for today.

Subject: If the shoe fits...some funnies...

    1) If you love something, set it free. If it comes
back, it will always be yours. If it doesn't come
back, it was never yours to begin with. But, if it
just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff,
eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money,
and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it
free....... You either married it or gave birth to it.

    2) Reason to smile: Every 7 minutes of every day,
someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring.

    3) My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves
    completely.

    4) The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear
    tight shoes.

    5) The nice part about living in a small town: When
you don't know what you're doing, someone else always
    does.

    6) Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along
    came today.

    7) Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I
    regain consciousness.

    8) Amazing! ! You hang something in your closet for a
while and it shrinks two sizes!

    9) They keep telling us to get in touch with our
bodies. Mine isn't all that communicative but I heard
from it the other day after I said, "Body, how'd you
like to go to the six o'clock class in vigorous
toning?" Clear as a bell my body said, "Listen
    fatty....do it and die."

    10) I read this article that said the typical symptoms
of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and
driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of
    a perfect day.

Send this to seven bright women you know and make
their day!!! Or at least make them laugh a little...

    Ya-Ya Sisterhood
  • Good afternoon all.
Just finished walking on the treadmill and thought I would stick my head in and say hi before I start on my little one's b-day cake. They say we might get a little sun Friday and then back to the clouds for who knows how long. Praise God for the treadmill or I would never get to walk this season.

((Susan)) we are with you each step of the way. Sounds like you started your day off to a great start. Breakfast is my worst time of the day..it's either nothing or something on the run while I'm cooking or on the puter.

Thanks for the laughs Wendy. It a treasure to find a smile when you least expect one...

WELCOME Teensy! 81 pounds is awesome. You will love the support and encouragment here. These guys are the BEST.

I tell ya'll what..it seems like it's always time to feed this crew. Outta here to make some lunch and that cake. My kids get to pick their dinner for their birthday. Yesterday my oldest had his b-day dinner early and tonight is Tator's turn....he wants hamburgers and corn on the cob. His dad almost had me making streaks...you cannot say steak around my little one...he loves em. Not this time of the year.....prices are through the roof. Later all.

    Love,
    Crystle
  • Just finished up from lunch with the ladies. I made the Shrimp Egg Foo Yung. They liked it, and I did not have any of the white rice, or gravy. I ate mine plain. I am such a good girl! I dislocated my arm patting myself on the back! (just kidding!)

As soon as I finished lunch, I got a raging headache. I guess I am going to take a nap. I hope I can get on the treadmill this afternoon. The way I feel right now, I would probably hurl....

FILLISE: We are here for you. Don't beat yourself up. We all have setbacks, and at least you are fessing up, and going to DO something about it! I hate thinking about all the times I screwed up and regained... Lets not do that again. Why don't you plan a day to come to Atlanta and visit? We can hit Harry's Whole Foods, and the HFS that I found that is pretty cool.

Ok..gotta go lay down. This headache is getting on my nerves!
  • Hi everyone!

Some of you may remember me. I was here about 5 months ago as Sheann. When I came back I had to add an "e" at the end of my name to be able to post. Anyway, I had to cancel my internet service for a while and was not able to get all of your encouragement. I did pretty good until the holidays. I got down to 254. Now I'm back up to 270 as of today. That is not a good thing. I figured that since I have internet service again that I would come back and try again. Everyone here is so awsome.

There are a few new names since I was here last. Hi!!! I really missed all of you. You are all like good friends.

Anyway, I guess this is WIW so here is what I'm starting at today. No messing around this time.

  • I took a 45 minute nap. My head seems a bit better. That is good, since I really don't want to be sick tonight. We have our small group meeting from church, and tonight we are going out to eat. I love the vacation from cooking, even for one night! And there is no way the husband can refuse to go!

SHEANNE: Welcome back! Glad you could get internet again and rejoin us! Its amazing how fast the pounds come back on, and how long it seems to take them off! This time, that isn't going to happen! Right? Jump on the wagon and fasten the seat belt! You are not alone!
  • Hi Ladies,

I have a bid going in in an hour and I may not get back to post so I thought I had better do it now. The board has been busy today.

Deb, Got to laugh at you finding that hubcap on your walk. You are amazing. Glad you got out there and walked. I was thinking about you and your walking last night. Maybe on the days you do yoga you could skip your walk. 90 oz??? wow your system must be in shock. It probably thinks you are drowning.

Bob, are those hints for real? If so I'm printing it out and going out to buy a few of those products. I have known abut the bread thing. Mom had it posted on the fridge years ago. Always used it.

Serene, I am so excited for you reaching a new low. I almost jumped out of my seat! WTG girl. Keep up the good work and you will look mavalous at that 30 yr reunion. (Don't feel bad it's 32 for me). Add some lemon and ice cubes to that water. Makes it delish. Liked the joke, but I can relate to many of them.

Trish, keep drinking and that pound will go away. Yes this could get interesting. I take my Wildcats very seriously. I just wished I had gotten those beads in Jan. We just got them and now it's a rush job. You did give me an idea though, I'll have a bead party, get out the wine and see what happens.

Rosalie, you are still under that 200 mark and that is something to be proud of. Sounds like you are doing more work just so you can go on vacation. Don't push too hard. Spain and Portugal sound more exciting than London anyway. Have a wonderful time.

Country, you said it yourself, This is a journey and soemtimes there are detours, bumps in the roads and breakdowns. We just keep on going. We will eventually get there some faster than others. We will prevail. So you have to give it more than one more week. Hang in there {{{{HUGS}}}} Now stay out of that b-day cake and don't eat that corn. We are watching!!

Renee, Sorry you didn't lose but at least you have lost from your binge. Never have heard of your disease. Can't really offer any advice. Sounds like you are trying to deal with it. I think that is most of the battle. I have RA and refuse to let it dictate my life. Plus losing 96 pounds has helped it tremendously. Maybe losign wt will help your too.

Fillise, when I read your post my heart just broke for you. I had no idea from yoru posts that you had gained alot back. You know where to come to and you have taken that first big step. We are here for you and you for us. Let's do this. Hey you give everything up on SB so there's nothing left to give up for Lent so I think your committment is a good one. I think I would be afraid to cheat on the Lord.

Monet, you were so good at lunch you should pat yourself on the back. Hope you are feeling better.

Sheanne, welcome back. At least you knew where to come. You can do this. It is even fun. We're here to help all we can. Just take one day at a time.

Going out for dinner. It was going to be tuna sandwiches at home. Yuk! So we will go get some fish and salad and veggie. Go to grocery and workout and then do beads.

Hope you all have a great evening.

  • Wednesday
Rosalie-Europe sounds nice. It will be warm too, right?

Meesh-good to talk to you last night. I am sorry but don't know the answer to your question=I was going to suggest coffee and exercise and sleep. I guess you are doing all that. WTG on losing the "bender weight."

Fillise-We are here to help you. Maybe your Lenten reflections will help you find your motivation. It is so hard to relose weight--I know because I've been working on it for months now. I'm so ready to lose too, with the spring flowers and warmer temps. Maybe you could pick a pair of pants that you want to get into and use that as your measure. Just a thought.

    Serene-Loved the yaya funnies.

Country-It sounds like your kids will have happy birthdays. Hamburgers and corn sound great to me.

Monet-What did you do with the puzzles? Did you post the recipe for the egg foo yung? You were asking me how i felt on synthroid-- I do not notice my thyroid medicine at all. I think I get a headache if I forget it though. But I am having a hard time losing weight. Other than that I feel good. Does T4 have to be prescribed by a doc? I'll check out Dr. Mercola.

Welcome Sheanne and Teensy!!!! Jump right in with the rest of us.

Teensy-I don't eat any FF products. I eat real dressings and sour cream, lite mayo, real butter, real
Triscuits, but just watch my portion size. The bread sounds great--3 grams a sugar per serving is the most you should eat.

Jackie-The charms sound so cute--how many did you do in 2 hours? Does the princess like them? I had to laugh when you called your dd that. We love our kids, but they aren't perfect, right? You are doing so great with your exercise!!

BOB-I'm glad you like your water exercise. Is this in warm water? And againm thanks for the funnies.

Jennifer and Kim-My dh went to King College and his dad worked there for years. So I have spent lots of time in Eastern Tenn. I think Milligan was one of King's rivals in sports too. It is beautiful there. Bristol seems to be economically depressed--I hope they can recover. I love all the lakes. I have learned a lot from the mountain women in dh's family--they are survivors and know so much about living.

Mel-Sorry about wiw. I have no idea why you wouldn't lose on that regimen. Maybe you need to shake things up a bit, like a different kind of cardio. I love the weight site you sent and have been using it to plan my lifting. Thanks again.

I better go get something done.
  • Monet--I feel your pain. I have a strong history of migraines on my Dad's side, plus my mom got one every month without fail. I'm doubly cursed. I remember suggesting to my doctor that decapitation would be very effective. He said it was a little extreme. Excedrin Extra-Strength will blast it to Kingdom Come.
  • still in the game...super busy at work. I have TOM right now. ugh. trying not to cheat and drinking lots of water. if i don't cheat I usually see a significant drop in weight right after..lower than before TOM. Next weigh in I'll be below 150 again. congrats to the losahs! have to go into a meeting!
  • QUICKIE BEFORE WE LEAVE FOR THE POOL

JACKIE...play with the spices...I just throw is a lot of different things...I can NEVER have enough bleu cheese...I bought some stilton the other day..talk about strong...
YES, those tips weren't a joke...they really work....I printed them as well...on the fridge they go!

JENNIFER....KIM....being a MOUNTAIN GIRL myself, sometime I get offended about the HILLBILY thing...but then I just take a deep breath!
The Senator from N GA is on a mission to get this show stopped because of them playing the area as such...
I love JC...don't leave out RICHARD A'S...is it still around? My Nephew used to talk about the football players going all the time when he played ball there..of course, they weren't supposed to be there
I love THE FIREHOUSE BBQ...is it still open?

SUSAN....MONET....we won't go to CAPT BRIANS....it's here in SARASOTA...I'll got up and meet Susan because that will be easier.

SUSAN....don't fret my friend...I discovered PANERRA BREAD ASIAGO BAGELS..... ....I've been on a bread binge and have gained...My LENT promise will be to give up bread and stuff like that...it's the only way I can lose! My Dr told me that bread of ANY KIND is like GLUE in the VEINS!!!!

I've got to go for now...but I"LL be BACK!!!!

JACKIE...no I haven'T given up TOPS, but I can't go while we're doing this pool thing....I'll be going back after 8 more trips to the pool...
