Well, I did good on my first day of attack during the day but last night when I got home I was so hungry. I ended up eating a piece of pizza and some blueberry bread and figured I would just have to do an extra day of attack. I am only supposed to do 3 so one more day won't kill me.

But when I got up this morning I had lost 2.5 pounds. I am thinking maybe I can just do low low carb during the day and eat normal food within reason for supper. I am going to try my best to be good all day cause I know most of what I lost was water weight but I will take what I can get. 14 pounds to go.

Hi all! Having an uphill week. Can't seem to budge past 24lbs lost and this last couple days I seem to be moving up and down 2-3lbs. I'm trying really hard not to get frustrated. I think part of it is due to my time of the month? I've read that can impact the loss. I'm hoping it resolves itself and in the meantime I'm sticking to my plan.

So the mousse recipe still needs work- I wasn't in love with it. But here's the pork tenderloin:

PAN-SEARED PORK TENDERLOIN WITH MUSTARD AND HERBS
SERVES 4

INGREDIENTS
One pork tenderloin, about 1-1/2 pounds
1-2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste (I didn't use the salt)
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1 teaspoon dried or rubbed sage leaves
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Oil to coat pan (then wipe out excess)

Preheat oven to 400° F. If necessary, remove any of the silver skin from the pork. Rub the mustard all over the meat, then season all over with the salt, pepper, thyme, sage and garlic. Heat a medium ovenproof skillet over high heat. Add the oil, then the roast, browning on all sides, about 2 minutes per side. Place the skillet in the oven and roast until the meat registers an internal temperature of 145°, 10-15 minutes or to your desired doneness. Remove meat from skillet and tent loosely with foil. Let rest about 10 minutes. Cut the pork into thick slices and serve.

After removing the pork from the pan, add in some more dijon, cracked pepper, and a good splash of milk. Heat over low-medium heat and whisk well scraping up the browned bits. This makes a great pan sauce to pour over the finished pork.

I served this with roasted asparagus. Hope you enjoy it!

Feeling slightly glum today. Had to go 'off plan' again last night due to dinner at my mother-in-laws - who doesnt really take "I am on a diet" for an answer.
I tried to control the damage with small portions, but at the end of the day - i had no control over what was served to me so trying not to beat myself up about it. I mean - am i really going to go months without going to family dinners?

I think its just upsetting because this was my second attempt at attack, both times i have mucked it up. Perhaps its time to move to cruise and accept i am going to have a slow journey ahead (after 9 days of attack i have only lost 900grams) I wish i could have pulled a bigger number during this first phase, but oh well. Will keep going, and fight through the urge to give up - as i always have before.

How is everyone else going?

Jen
It would be easier if you could do a pure (no family dinners) attack phase and then have a PV day in cruise when you have to go to family dinners. Avoid the carbs and gravy etc and it is easier to stay on plan.
Have you any hormone imbalance issues? Dukan says to sort these before the diet because of the likelihood of slow weight loss otherwise. 900g seems a very little amount during attack to me - but perhaps you don't have much to lose? Perhaps have a look at the final section of his book about this.
I am losing 2lbs a week on cruise, but only 1lb this week because we went to a fancy dinner party and I succumbed to the cheese course.. but it's still a loss and like you I can't just avoid going out (until April 2012 in my case)

re: going out

I go out but not as often as some people, I guess. I stay on plan and eat veggies and meat or fish. If I am in a restaurant, I will order it grilled but at someone's house, even when it's in a sauce, I will eat a little bit but focus more on the veggies or salad instead.

I look at my reasons for going out and they are to spend time with family or friends and I try to not make eating the focus of it. I have been known to go home and eat more on plan food if I wasn't able to eat enough while out, but that's not too often, fortunately.

I am working with a very long time frame here - hope to be in Conso by March or April (or at the latest, no later than my 1 year anniversary on Dukan next May), I also want to make sure that stays a realistic time frame. A big part of what gets me through is knowing that this phase is temporary and that when I get to Conso, I do get to start having Celebration meals and all the rest of it, and won't be trying to be so strict all the time. I think I can make it through until the spring, but I don't know that I have the ability to stay on Cruise longer than that, so I really want to be at my Conso goal by that point. I guess it's just a different outlook - I want to get to that goal so badly and be able to move on with the rest of my life that I am more willing to turn my life a bit upside down for a year.

I have to travel for work three days next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which means eating out for three days - three meals a day. I can't really pack my food because I am traveling with other employees and they would think it odd if I wasn't with them at meal time.

I have found that if I make my plate look messy and picked through no one says anything about not eating what's on my plate.

I am going to make enough galette's for the days I am gone and sliced turkey. Oh and yogurt... that will help me stay "basically" on plan.

I find that having to eat out often has helped me learn to eat better when I am out. I make sure I have a "snack" before I go if I am worried about the choices I will have, but otherwise saying "I don't like that" has worked great when in resturants. On Dukan I seem to have way more will power and determination than I have ever had before for anything.

I am having the same experience - the longer I do this, the easier it gets. I am amazed because I have never had this experience before but I am just not tempted to eat the off-plan foods. Whether I'm home, at a restaurant or at someone's house, I can look at them, I can even think "oh, that looks good, I really like that!" but still be fine knowing that I am not having it, at least not now.

Some people say that they lose their taste for sweets, junk food, etc. And I really don't think I have - I guess I'll know for sure once I do try to eat some of it again. For now, the concept of all of it still sounds good and I look forward to when I can enjoy it all again. But I also feel like I will have a very different approach and I won't get into a habit of eating ice cream or candy every day, but I'll be able to have it as a treat every now and then, thoroughly enjoy it guilt free and then go back to my normal way of eating.

The thing I think about the most is what my "normal" will look like. I realize it is going to be more varied than right now, but I feel a little bit uneasy because I think it will be a process of figuring out where the borders will need to be.

Thanks Flora for the comments. You are absolutely right on all counts - i do have hormone issues (PCOS) and i dont have a huge amount to lose (probably 10kg) I think i will try again with the attack and ensure i have no family dinners booked (this week it was somewhat unavoidable)
I put on 0.3 this morning, so i think that it has definitely caught up.
I am going to try with as little dairy as possible. I have PCOS, which means dairy is a bit of a no no - so maybe thats where i am going wrong. I just figured for the attack since i already have limited options i would allow myself to include a bit here and there for variety.

So this weekend i will do a couple of days of cruise then maybe start attack AGAIN next week, this time will work i just know it!

hope everyone is having a good weekend! Nasty weather here today - it's cold and we are getting rain mixed with a bit of snow. So much for any outdoor activities!

SNOW...nasty four letter word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This weekend has been nice and peaceful...

However, I haven't felt hungrey at all and haven't eaten much.

WE are family here so ..... I do have huge issues with "elimination". I never have been good at it and now with this diet it is even less. I know I am eating less and protien stays in my stomach longer but it does worry me.

Nothing is working...I do walk 30 min a day and have tried some "help" but nothing is working. I don't know if I really need to worry or if I worry because of what I "think" should be happening.

Hope everyone is having a great Dukan weekend.

Samadhi -

Is it a problem because you are uncomfortable physically or just because you think it should be more often?

If you are uncomfortable, then definitely keep trying things to help - fiber supplements, Colace, etc. But if it's just because you think it should be more frequent, then try not to worry about it.
