Hi hi everyone! I'm all new and such but I'm just gonna go ahead and jump right in here

I was wondering... is anyone else doing this diet whilst having an implant for birth control (like Implanon) or doing it on birth control in general?

I ask because I got the implant a bit over a year ago and I didn't have a period that entire time then half way through my attack phase the period came back. And haven't stopped. At all.

Like, I legitimately haven't stopped bleeding (and not just regular bleeding, HEAVY hardcore, insanely black and clotted bleeding) since then. Not even for one day. Just constant bleeding. By my diary that was over three weeks ago. I'm not really worried because maybe my body is just trying to catch up for all the missed periods that I had or something but it is quite annoying to be constantly cramping and emotional XD

Just curious if anyone else noticed a change in their menstrual cycles after starting? Like I said, I'm not too worried, but I have stopped losing weight. Which is sad because I lost a good 20+ lbs on my attack phase and now I'm just stuck at 245lbs for three weeks.

is it possible that the implant came out?

I have a Mirena, which I think is a bit different than an implanon, but I have not noticed any change in my cycle since I started Dukan in May.

In any case, I would definitely talk to your doctor about this.

Hmm... I don't think it has come out because it's under my skin. I mean, they put implanon in your arm and I can poke and feel that it's still there.

However, it is possible that it may have stopped working or the effects of it have lessened. I'll probably go to a docotor the next time I can because, whether I'm concerned or not, let's face it... It's not exactly normal to bleed for as long as I have.

That aside, I completely forgot to say (in my introduction thread) you deserve some SERIOUS congratulations for losing 50lbs! I mean, really, that's impressive. And it was really nice to hear, by the way, that there is someone else out there hiking the long journey to a final product in 2013. I've been vaguely freaking out because, though I embarked on this journey with my husband and his family, I have a lot more weight to lose than they do. My husband has already finished to his true weight and is moving on to consolidation and his parents have cracked and broken the diet so severely at a wedding that they've given up. I have a massive amount of will power but it's a bit... daunting... the idea of being alone on a diet so strict.

Twinny, I didn't realize it went in your arm, I thought it was another kind of IUD! lol! So yeah, I think you'd know if it came out of you!! But I still think you should check with your doctor because that much bleeding is definitely not good.

And thanks for the congrats - I am just so incredibly happy with how well Dukan works for me AND how easy it has been for me to stay on plan. I don't mind that it will be a 2 year process before getting to Stabilization because maintaining a weight loss is always my down fall anyway. And just getting to Conso will be such an accomplishment plus it will be great to be able to add back in all the different foods you can have then but to still have a lot of structure so I won't be as likely to gain it back. And 2013 is coming no matter what we do, so we may as well be thinner and fitter and healthy and happy when it gets here!

I still haven't figured a goal but using 100 lbs as a round number, and hoping to get there by next April (my birthday is my target to try and move to Conso even though I am not sure what number I am hoping for on the scale!), I am looking at the end of August 2013 to get through Conso.

And I plan to be here posting away on 3fc all along the way!

Welcome Twinny, I'm in the UK too - in Sussex.

I can't help about the cycle stuff as I had my ovaries removed in May, and am on HRT. I was worried that I would find it tough to lose weight because of my history of PCOS but actually dukan is working well for me so far. I would go see your GP!

I am also on this journey until 2013 (January 2013 I think lol).
Certainly predicted to be on cruise phase until 10 April 2012.
I'm dieting alone - the rest of the family are not, and i am cooking their meals which can be tough but I am determined to keep going with this. I am pleased that I am starting to see small results.

Awww, you guys! <3 And yay for a fellow Englander! I'm legitimately really glad that I decided to join this site now- just so I can converse with you fine people.

I have decided, after long deliberation, that I should go to see a doctor. I've just returned for my second year at uni and it has been CHAOS. I'm just going to pop to the walk-in clinic and see if they can get me sorted out and on my way to a single-honours/joint-honours mixer for my department. Excitement all around!

April, I think 100lbs is an excellent goal! It has a nice sense of epicness about it and is a lovely, round number. You're much braver than I, you know. I don't have the confidence to lose 100lbs, I'm afraid.

I mean, I've been pretty chunky for as long as I can remember. I'm worried, in a sick, twisted way, that I'll forget myself if I lose too much weight. Because, like I said in my bio, I've always been really, really happy with the way I look. I just have health issues :/ What if one day I look in the mirror after reaching my goal weight and I don't even know who the person looking back at me is?

OH my, did that bring up emotion in me. What if being at my goal means I am a person I don't like - TOO confident, TOO "out there"????? One of those people I try to avoid becaue the "think they are all that"!!!!

I think that one of the good things about losing weight is that it does not happen overnight, so you won't suddenly look in the mirror one day and be a person who is 50 or 100 lbs thinner. Esp. when you are doing this for health reasons (my main motivation too), what I expect to see is a fit, active, healthy person who happens to also be much thinner.

But I don't know that I'll ever be "thin" - part of not knowing what my final goal will be is that a big factor for me will be when it gets too hard to stick completely to Dukan and then I'll know it's time to move to Conso. My true weight on the website is actually 180 lbs. I suspect I won't actually be where I want to be at that point, and not just what I look like but what I'll be able to do physically and how I'll feel. But on the other hand, if it all of a sudden turns into a struggle for every pound, then I'll know I'm done with Cruise - maybe to try again another time and see what happens then.

I am curious how much low fat/fat free yogurt can you have a day during the attack phase? I am thinking that would make this diet a lot easier to be able to eat yogurt with some meat for a meal.

April:I guess, yeah, that weight loss is a nice, gradual thing. So I will have time to slowly ease in to my new body. But... the paranoia is still there >.< I mean, I got my husband with this body, and it's one he really loves. What if this new one causes a rift between us? I know he wants me to be healthy and such, but the paranoia continues regardless.

Samadhi:April's right about us easing in. I guess we're just going to have to take it as it comes and hope for the best. Glad to know I'm not the only one worried about it, though. I've been getting the general "Omfg, are you crazy? Being thin is WAY better!" response from my friends which isn't particularly supportive :/

bythegraceofGod:If I remember correctly, you are allowed a fair amount of fat free yoghurt as long as it isn't fruit based. I mean, don't go over-board with it, fruit free or not, but you shouldn't be worried about having more than one go at it.

as long is it's sugar free and fat free, you can have a fair amount. I think it's a quart mentioned in the book? So it's not truly unlimited, but as much as most people would reasonably want to eat. And esp. at the beginning, eat whatever you want to eat that is on plan - getting used to it all is much more important IMO than worrying about a specific limit.

the thing about this is do you really feel you are worth less due to your current weight? And do you judge other overweight people as being worth less?

If yes, then that's a bigger problem than just adjusting to your new size, although I don't mean to sound dismissive - it's a reality for many people including me that we judge ourselves by our appearance, including (maybe especially) our weight. But at least for me, I don't judge other people negatively and assume they are arrogant if they are thin - not unless they specifically do and say things to show that they are. (I can think of a specific example of someone I know who would always hone in on whatever negative she could find about someone, and with someone heavy, it would be about their weight, but if it wasn't that, she'd find something else!).

I'd like to think that I will be the same person, only thinner (and fitter and healthier!) and I think that my experience of being overweight for 40 years will have changed who I am permanently so that I would not ever become one of those arrogant people!

Hi everyone,
I am new to the diet, been on attack 4 days (today is my 5th) and havent really lost as much weight as i had hoped. According to the tracker on the Dukan website i should have lost 1.4kg in 4 days of attack, but i have only lost 0.6kg - almost half!

Wondering if i should give it a few more days on attack, or just go on to cruise and hope for the best.

I am thinking of starting Monday and am looking at things to eat those first 3 days. (only need 3 attack days). I could not find oat bran but read where someone substituted oatmeal instead. The carbs and calories were nearly the same. I made up about 1 and a half tablespoons of instant oatmeal and then mixed it with plain fat free yogurt. Then mixed in a couple packets of splenda and just a drop of vanilla. It was really yummy. I could do without the vanilla and it needs to sit in the fridge to get really cold but it was very good. will make a good addition to breakfast or a snack.
