Well done everyone and welcome to the new people here!

I am doing the thin dance today - lost 3lbs this week!!! I'm so pleased. This week seems to have been easier somehow. I think I am just getting used to it and also obsessing less about being on a diet.

Isn't that just the BEST!!!

I am not sure what causes this "control" but am loving it....

I had my first day of not being 100% on plan yesterday. I ate some pistachio nuts and a couple of fun sized bags of m&m's. I just checked the package and 3 fun size bags are 220 calories, so this was only about 150. I've been having awful PMS and I decided that it just wasn't worth trying "eat around" these cravings because I've tried that in the past (pre-Dukan) and it didn't work.

I actually feel good this morning - I was a little nervous about how my body would react but no problems and I slept really well. I think maybe I needed a little bit of extra fat or something? But I actually do feel better than I have for a while. I've been having a very stressful time the past week so I've been sleeping poorly and this was the first night that I slept solidly.

I hope it doesn't have a terrible impact on the scale, but with all the bloating, I've already been up for the week anyway and this was only .2 higher than yesterday.

Back on track today!

April- my PMS was terrible this month and my saving grace was sugar free jello or sugar free pudding with a dollop of fat free cool whip.

Before Dukan I've never had anything sugar free and while the pudding and cool whip are not 100% on plan, as long as I don't go overboard they haven't hurt my progress. I was a professional baker and dessert was a huge part of my life and there are times when the sweet monster must be fed!

I'm down 30lbs as of this morning! Really excited about my steady progress! Have a great weekend everyone!

April Snow - don't worry about being off plan for one snack. I think you are doing brilliantly and sometimes you do have to listen to your body! Hope the PMS is better.

Mandy 30lbs is brilliant. I have not got that far yet but I will!!!

Hi all, I'm thinking about starting the Dukan. Been on low carb "lifestyle changes" before with mediocre results. Is there anything you know now that you wish you would have known before starting Dukan?

Will plan and start this week. Thanks!!

Celtic girl,

Bad breath is the only thing - plus the COST of this diet. You will eat more meat than normal - and it is more expensive than carbs.

I'd say, be prepared!

Always have protein snacks available. FF yogurt, for example. SF jello, for the sweet attack. Some roasted chicken in the fridge. etc. If you pack lunch to work, always pack a bit extra for emergencies. When I first started, I've packed 4 containers (well, small containers), breakfast, lunch, and 2 snacks. Now I only pack three - 1 snack (yogurt), for I'm filled pretty fast, nowadays...

what LittleBlueCat said - BE PREPARED! Have some on plan food available all the time, so that you can eat whenever you are hungry but still be on plan.

Drink LOTS of water.

I found that taking good vitamins, including potassium/magnesium/calcium helped me make it through the Attack phase without "induction flu" like I've had when I've done low carb in the past.

the daily exercise makes a big difference.

Anyone get headaches the first few days of Attack Phase? I don't know if it's from the diet or something else but this morning it was like a freight train hit me. An Excedrin and a whole pot of coffee cured me, lol (I'm not normally a coffee drinker so it wasn't withdrawal).

Also, my proteins are tasting kind of bland. I've been cheating with barbecue sauce. I know he has recipes in the book but I work full time and am also a grad student at night, so packaged dipping sauces would really help. Can I use lowfat mayo? I already use mustard. Any other advice? Thanks

April - this 'induction flu' you speak of, is something i hadnt heard of but something i must certainly be going through right now. I feel like pure misery, have the chills, headaches, nausea - thinking about eating anything (even drinking water) makes me want to gag! And exercise? Flippin forget about it! I can barely walk from one side of the house to the other i have so little energy. For those who have had this happen to them - how long will it last?

My experience is that's your body "detoxing" from the carbs and sugars. Take a tsp. of noniodized salt. This helps with the headache. Should only last a few days, but everyone is different. Good luck!

I started Monday and am already down 4.1 lbs. I know it's mostly fluid, but it's absolutely a motivator!
