thanks April, what is your go to food? Do you take your food when you go out? If not what you do eat? Sorry about the questions and anyone can answer them. I just want to make sure I have every avenue covered.
I like seeing my stats so I'll probably continue to track them I need to make sure that I don't over do it since I am very new with the Diet. I have slipped and given up so many times. I am hoping that this is the last time I make a change, that I stick to it and that it gets me to my goal (or his goal at least).
I keep oat bran, cinnamon and sweet and low at work, and every Monday I bring in a small container of milk. I have oat bran porridge for breakfast at work. Lunch is either homemade chicken soup with about 1.5 thighs worth of the meat, plus a big portion of broccoli on PV days, or I get low salt deli meat and have that either plan or with a couple of laughing cow cheese wedges and some cucumber slices for crunch, like a cracker. I also have a couple of hard boiled eggs or some deli meat as a snack about 4 pm. Supper is generally chicken, a steak or a salmon burger that I have with a cucumber garlic yogurt sauce. On PV days, I might have something sauteed zucchini that I simmer in marinara sauce and then I'll have the chicken with some sauce and bit of low fat mozzarella cheese. I sometimes have a sugar free jello as a snack at night, or if I am really hungry, I might have an extra serving of oat bran, but that's pretty rare.
Weekends, I make the gallettes -time to really enjoy them with a nice up of tea and some time to relax and the other meals are pretty much the same.
I do go out to eat maybe a couple of times a month, and will get either steak or salmon and some veggies, or a salad with grilled chicken or shrimp on it.
I could be more creative and every couple of weeks, I'll make something different, like a meatloaf. But I don't mind eating the same things over and over - and I've read that having a more limited menu actually works well for weight loss.
I definitely recommend to keep reading the book - every time I pick it up, I feel like I either learn something new that I didn't pick up on before, or I get reinforcement that I needed. I also find it helpful to read some of the various Dukan forums out there - even if you don't sign up for the coaching, I have been able to read some of the threads on the official site, and those are helpful. That's where I got the list of Tolerated foods I posted recently. Those are extra foods that you can have in very limited quantities, but which are helpful for getting a bit more variety into the plan, and make it feel less strict.
wow thanks a bunch, I appreciate it. I didn't want to read the Cruise phase until I get to it so I'll read that this evening since I'll be starting tomorrow, yay me
hey love2b150 - i literally just scrambled to eggs and added some chopped smoked salmon. didnt use butter or milk and it wasm't bad actually. dont know about cheese and turkey bacon tho!
Ok so day one complete and i think i spent most of the day running to the loo...... lol, damn water! Down 2lbs this morning so i am not going to complain! How does everyone else get thier oat bran in? I tried making the Galette, but it wasn't for me! So i had it mixed in some no fat, no sugar greek yoghurt with splenda. not bad at all! Anyone have any other ideas, as that may get boring pretty quickly!
it's very normal to pee a LOT when you first start a low carb plan. And hey, it's some extra exercise, right? lol!
for breakfast, sorry you didn't care for the gallette (but a little surprised too, because most people really like them!) Most days, I just make a little porridge out of mine. I take my 2 tbs of oat bran, add sweetener and a TON of cinnamon (tastes good and also supposed to be good for weight loss) and then add hot water. I let it all sit for a minute or so, and then add a splash of milk. It's not the most delicious thing I've ever eaten but it's fine, and it's fast, which is a positive thing too.
I forgot to answer about the turkey bacon and cheese. You have to check the nutritional info but as long as it's very low/no carb and low in fat, the turkey bacon is fine as long as the portions are small because of the sodium content in it.
The cheese should be no fat, but I will admit that I have a bit of low fat cheese a couple of times a week and it doesn't seem to slow my progress at all. But I think full fat cheese might, so I'm not willing to experiment with that and I like the low fat anyway. I have either low fat mozzarella cheese sticks - good because it's premeasured portion even though I then cut it up to use on top of a piece of chicken with some tomato sauce or about 3/4 oz of Jarlsberg lite - I weigh that as it's easy to go overboard when cutting off a chunk and that's plenty for flavor. Or you can have some of the light Laughing Cow wedges, those would melt into eggs nicely too.
OMG! How stupid am I? I just now realized that I'm still taking 1 1/2 TBS of Oat Bran! And I can have like, 2 TBS!! A whole week?! Oh well, at least I've noticed now, and I'll start tomorrow BTW, I fix mine almost like April's 1 sweetener packet, ton of cinnamon, but I don't use water at all, all skim milk. I like it creamy. And I noticed the difference in texture. It's nuttier if I combine everything right before I fix it. Or mushier if I pre-fix everything the night before, and let it sit and soak up the skim milk. The oat bran puffs up, and can get pretty thick, when you heat it up, chewier
Now, has anyone tried that, Shirataki noodles?? I've been to the Miracle Noodle website, and it looks delish. But cost quiet a bit, but I'm think it may help me stay on the wagon, because weekends, are my downfall, for some reason, I feel like I need to have rice, and lots of rice... That web site says their noodles are Calorie Free, Carb Free!! But I would love to hear some real life experience, before making a purchase.
Rennie - I log in daily on MyFitnessPal.com. I like it. And my calorie intake on work days, runs about 1000-1200. Weekends are my Downfall!!!
April - thanks for reminding me that I can have 2 TBS of Oat Bran in your earlier post. And thanks talking about the light Laughing Cow wedges I'm gonna pick up at least 2 packs to carry me through September.
Thanks Roxie, good job on the 2lbs yesterday I think I am a butter/margarine nut I love the way the eggs taste scrambled in it. I may have to experiment with the ICBINB spray in about a month or so. I have some Light Laugh Cow cheese also. I love the oat bran, I wish we could have more. I add cinnamon and Equal. I'm not a fan of the Galette either, a little chewy to me, but it works when I have run out of the door, just have to eat it fast. I use the bathroom a lot anyway, drives my husband nuts when we are out. I drink a ton of water also.
April I found low sodium turkey bacon at Walmart. I couldn't eat it at first because it was so salty. But when you add a half of a slice to 3 eggs, it taste like ham, not bad at all. Thanks again for the tips How much weight have you lost since you started Dukan?
Nancy, the people on another thread that I'm on have tried the noodles and didn't like it at all, so best of luck with it. Not sure if it was their preparation or not, they said it was gummy, pasty I think. Weekends are typically my issue also, but I think my best bet will be to make weekends PP days only especially since I am in and out a lot. I also log into MFP daily and my calories have gotten better but they are still not the 1400 my doctor told me to eat and not the 1450 that MFP says I should have.
Samadhi, I think my feet are a tad narrower since I started last year
Today I am up .6 to 171.6 yesterday was my first PV day and I didn't do any exercise so that may have something to do with it. We shall see
It's completely normal to see a slight increase in weight when you start your PV days, it's just your body adjusting to the slightly higher carb levels. I still see it on a weekly basis when I do my 3 PV days, and then it drops off and then the losses show during my PP days.
All the weight loss in my ticker is on Dukan - where I started 100 days ago today!
Like LittleBlueCat, I'd love it if someone would comment on shirataki noodles. I've read up on them and am a bit leery of the "fishy smell" that is a common complaint.
My husband and I are on week 4 of the diet (3rd week of cruise). Can't believe I'm 13 pounds down already. Still so grateful for all of the wonderful recipes I'm getting from this forum.
Final item: any other breastfeeding moms out there on Dukan? I'm starting to wean anyway, but it seems like my supply has just plummeted since getting on the diet train. Normal?
Me again. I did have a good dining experience at Joe's Crab Shack while on the attack phase. The crab pots are nothing but boiled seafood, so as long as you avoid the little potato and corn that's included, you're safe. Also, getting things simply steamed vs. one of their specialty boils helps. Sure, you'll get a good bit of sodium from the seafood, but otherwise it was a satisfying meal and I didn't feel freakish while out with my in-laws.
