Flora, Congrats! I can't wait to see that kind of progress myself!
Well this morning I'm up 2lbs but that's because of AF... which apparently was the cause of me eating 1/2 an entire dark chocolate bar last night! So far today I'm staying OP. I feel very very good on this diet, for the first time on any plan, ever.
Michelle - keep it up!
I used to suffer with PCOS (until major operation to remove ovaries last year) and that is when I put on all the weight.
I have had a few difficult days on Dukan but stay on plan 95% of the time and don't go crazy when I make a conscious decision to be off plan (if we go to dinner at friends etc). I have managed to avoid bread, biscuits, chocolate completely!
Flora x
Thanks for all the comments re induction flu. It was awful - but only lasted that 1 day. I forced myself to eat a vanilla yoghurt and then some grilled chicken breast for lunch which made me feel a wee bit better, but the day still sucked. So pleased to have not totally freaked out and eaten a muesli bar like i did the last time it happened (Best tasting muesli bar in my life by the way!)
I am loving this way of eating, and now that i am past the induction flu i feel
100% 'in the zone' i have no cravings and not even tempted by a certain tub of (my partner's) butterscotch and honeycomb icecream sitting dormant in my freezer, now thats progress believe ME!
I am on a steady downward slide on the scale now too, which is such a wonderful feeling it makes all the misery from a few days ago absolutely worth it.
So happy to see everyone's continued success! I myself have not had much, I lost 8lbs during attack phase and have gone up and down since then to settle back at the 8lbs down. I did have a few cheat days (again, wine and one brownie) so I expected this week would not be good but I have been back on track the last three days with no cheats at all, plenty of water and am still yo-yoing .6lbs up and down.
I do eat more fish and shellfish then chicken/turkey/beef and although in theory this is suppose to be better for you I am wondering if that may be part of the issue. Does anyone on these boards perhaps get more protein from fish/shellfish and have a similiar experience?
I did also watch to make sure I didn't overdo it on the veggies as a few of you mentioned that could be a hindrance but is the veggies days that I drop weight and after the protein days that I jump back up.
CanuckJ: I have only had chicken, turkey and egg whites. Basically because I was a vegetarian for many years and haven't been able to cross over to beef and pork. I haven't had fish because I am not good at preparing it
Life happens and I choose to participate so I have eaten things I "shouldn't" for maximum weight loss (like wine ), catered food at weddings, work related lunch's....but I am plugging along.
MOST important to me is that I find it easy to follow this way of eating so I haven't QUIT!!!!
Hm. Posted a long hello and the site ate it.
So to be briefer:
I'm on day 4 of Attack, last day Pierre says, although I have 64lbs to lose to get to my true weight. 243 days of Cruise to go!
I'm enjoying it so far, lost 4.2lbs in 3 days. I know it's water but I was bloating so badly that I'm grateful.
I've only read page 1 of this thread, I'll go back read some more. I just wanted to say, Hello. Can I join?
Canuck - I don't think there should be an issue with having primarily fish and shellfish (well, except maybe for your wallet! lol!). I would say to hang in there, and see what happens after a full week of being completely on plan.
I'm still fighting with the scale myself - I'm fine with food but haven't been as diligent with exercise as I need to be. Hopefully, I can get myself back on track again this weekend and start seeing downward progress again - right now, I'm still working on getting back to my ticker weight. But the weird thing is that my weight went up, I was assuming PMS and I still feel bloated and awful but TOM just will not start. ugh.
Well I slacked on exercise this week. Didn't move my butt at all. The scale showed me who is boss with just a 1/2 lb down this week. Pfffft. So I learned a good lesson and proved how much the exercise is helping! Back on the treadmill I go!
Rosinante - I have read the book and I did sign up for coaching. I don't really regret either but I can't say I'd recommend them. Ok, I would suggest the book because it's a great introduction but there are so many sites and blogs online with people who are going through this that I've found those much more helpful. The US Dukan site isn't so great and the coaching feels very robotic and like a form letter. Though- I have yet to ask for help or send an email to the team asking for support so maybe I'll do that and see what I get back. If you spend a solid amount of time reading up on blogs and chat sites and read the book, I'd say save your money and don't get the coaching.
And if anyone is interested in seeing what emails and things I have via coaching, let me know and I'll send it on or post it. I can send a list of my favorite Dukan related sites too!
Mandy - I'd be very interested in hearing more about what the coaching is like!
Rosinante - I highly recommend the book. I really like the level of detail he goes into, more than you get on any of the websites I've seen. It's not just more detail about what to do on the plan, but also some explanation behind it all. I also find the book very motivating and have re-read it (bits and pieces) many times now.
Thanks.
I've got the book and I'm running some offline notes and putting Marshall Brain's blogthoughts alongside. I liked his style. It was really funny yesterday - we both "regained" 0.2lbs at the same stage of Attack!
I registered online and the site told me to stick with Attack for 4 days, so today I get veggies, woohoo!
Oh yes, and I lost 1.8lbs, making a total of 6 in the 4-day Attack. Not bad. ;D
I'm down to just over a lb above my prior low, from being almost 4 lbs up last week. Hopefully a little further progress by official WI tomorrow and maybe I will be within a pound. I still don't really know exactly where the increase came from but hopefully I'll be moving on to new lows soon.
While this isn't a stall exactly, I'm going to take advantage of the fact that it's the weekend and then I am taking a couple of days off work Monday and Tuesday to do closet purging. So I'm going to do my version of two-a-days and work out for at least an hour each day, around 30 minutes at a time. I already did a WATP 2 mile this morning and I'll do some Wii cardio boxing later. That's in addition to normal weekend activities which will include a fair amount of incidental walking today.
I'm hoping that since Dukan advises 60 minutes of walking for four days to break a stall, this will be enough to get me safely over the hump past where I was and keep me back on my way to losing "new weight" (as opposed to making up for lost ground). Whether it was TOM related or whatever, clearly my body was finally resisting losing weight and hopefully this gets me back on track.
