oatmeal is not that close to oat bran. This is from the Dukan website
http://www.dukandiet.com/The-Dukan-Diet/Oat-Bran

I would keep looking to see if you can find it - not sure where you are but all the supermarkets here carry it along with places like Sprouts, Sunflower, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc.

What is the difference between oat bran and oatmeal?

Oat bran contains about 50% more fiber and soluble fiber than oatmeal, making it more effective at lowering cholesterol and helping digestion. It also has more protein, calcium, iron, thiamin, phosphorus, riboflavin, magnesium, and zinc.

The main structural difference is that oatmeal (typically rolled oats) is whole grain, while oat bran is just the bran of the oat.

Finally, because oat bran is creamier (due to the finer texture of the product), it satiates hunger more than oatmeal.

Wondering if i should give it a few more days on attack, or just go on to cruise and hope for the best.
Welcome!!

I did an extra day of Attack - not really planned but I hadn't organized myself well enough to have my veggies ready! lol! I think it's fine to add a day or two if you want to maximize your Attack loss and get off to a great start on Cruise.

I had probably my closest to being off plan. At a family holiday dinner, I had some stuffed cabbage (unstuffed really, as that is so much easier to make). It had a couple of tbs of matzo meal and a couple of tbs of rice, but that was spread out over 3 lbs of meat and I was comfortable considering it a tolerated food given the tiny amounts. Plus there was about 1/4 cup sugar, but again that was for the entire dish. I only had two meatballs (ping pong ball sized) and a bit of cabbage and sauce. My serving was probably less than 1/20th of the total dish, so these were truly miniscule amounts. And I felt AWFUL the next day, on a PP day. I really think I went through a mini-Induction flu because as nominal as the amounts were, it was the only non-oat bran carbs and sugar I've had. I ended up eating an extra gallette and staying PP for the day, but it's definitely enough to make me stick completely on plan and not try 99 44/100 again! lol!

I still consider it as an on plan day because the amounts were within tolerated food amounts, but I am just not going to bother again!

Thanks for the info on oat bran vs oat meal. My office is near a couple of really good grocery stores that seem to carry every specialty kind of item. I am in South Mississippi and grits is the breakfast item of choice here. Some do eat oatmeal but I can bet not one person I know has heard of oat bran or thinks it is the same as oat meal.

Disaster. Had friends round last night and decided it would be a great idea to bake a whole bunch of goodies for them (i love to bake, and love to be a good hostess). Of course the plan was, that i wouldnt have any (last day of attack) and lets just say the plan failed. Only up by 0.1kg this morning but cant help but wonder if it will catch up in the days ahead.

Has anyone started the attack all over again pretty much straight away? Can you do too much 'attacking'? Sigh.

Hi Jen
Not sure about "too much attack" but I went off plan on Saturday (WHICH WAS PLANNED!) because we went to friends for dinner. However the carb was buckwheat noodles which I don't think are THAT bad. But then there was dessert (small slice) and cheese.
I simply went PP again yesterday and sticking to the existing diet. OK I won't lose 2lbs this week BUT I had a nice evening with our friends, and I'm not looking for overnight results but a long term weight loss. Hopefully I simply won't gain weight this week.

bythegraceofGod: There isn't any Oat Bran to be found in my area so I ended up ordering it online.

JenBear: I don't know about "too" much Attacking either but I know I love that stage the most...I seem to be able to do it with ease but when I add vegie's I think I start slipping into old habits. OR it could be I just don't like the extra cooking.

I have always taken vitamins/Minerals so I don't worry much about what I miss in foods.

Flora37: BUT I had a nice evening with our friends, and I'm not looking for overnight results but a long term weight loss. Hopefully I simply won't gain weight this week. I so agree.

Last week was a disaster dieting wise...I had FIVE lunches with clients due to my job. Plus three evening meetings so I didn't get to exercise those nights.
AND I didn't get enough water at least two days so my scale will not make me happy this week BUT I did spend a wonderful Saturday on a Paddle Boat on the St. Croux river with friends so it was all worth the little set back I will have.

I look at it as "being a normal thin person" because there are always times when you eat too much or too fatty foods and you have to adjust and move on.

This week does look like a "back on track" week....

I can't personally agree that I'm not looking for a "quick" weight loss. My goal in this is to reach Conso as soon as I can so that I can enjoy my Celebration meals and the other additions to my eating guilt free and (hopefully!!!) maintaining my new weight. Obviously, it's all relative of course, as losing ~100 lbs never happens overnight! But I am trying to stay completely on plan because I know at some point, I will run out of steam to stick like glue and it's a race to the finish line to hopefully be at my goal by the time that happens! lol!

But of course, people need to do what works for them and the things in their life, and I think it's much better to get back on track than it is to give up entirely.

It's been a disastrous 2 weeks here due to vacations and loads of birthdays. Still, my backslide hasn't been as bad as I hoped. I liked what you said, Samadhi, about being normal. I think with some extra Attack Days and strict Cruising, I'll be back to where I was in no time flat. I also plan on beefing up on my asparagus consumption. I swear that works great. If only it was in season.
All in all, I enjoyed being able to have some wine on my birthday and have a little bit of cake on my daughter's first birthday. It's worth the extra attacking!

I've been going back through seeing what I've missed in the past couple of weeks. I saw where MandyTy27 had some wonderful-sounding pork tenderloin and pumpkin mousse recipes. Mandy, did you ever post? I went to your profile hoping to find an email address, but no dice. They both sound fantastic!

Thanks everyone for the comments, i did a lot of searching and read somewhere that if you muck up on the attack phase you need to start all over again (whereas cruise its 'ok' to slip up now and again as its usually unavoidable) so i went back on the attack yesterday and this morning have lost another 0.4kh, so looks like im back on track Phew!!

My first day of attack and so far so good. Had a boiled egg for breakfast, some sugar free, fat free yogurt around 11:00, a can of tuna and some sugar free sweet relish. About to have some turkey slices with fat free cream cheese/jalapeno spread. I have a mediterranean chicken dish going in the crockpot so I will eat the chicken for supper. Going to stop on my way home and try to find the oat bran and may mix that in with some more yogurt if I am hungry this evening. Wish me luck with the scale fairy in the morning. I only have 15 pounds to lose so hopefully it won't take very long.

Just thought I would share, as I have just made a lovely thai butternut squash soup.
1 shallot, 1 stick of lemongrass, 1 courgette (zucchini), 1 seeded yellow chilli, 3 sweet chillies, 1 tiny butternut squash (from my garden), dash of 0% fat skimmed milk, splash of lime juice. Chopped up all the veg, then cooked it a little in a pan stirring to prevent burning/sticking, then put it in a blender to chop down, then added the milk, blended again, then added lime juice, blended again. Then heated in a pan, season and serve... I added some chopped chicken breast on top. YUM. Ideal for a PV day. This made 2 portions so the rest in the fridge for later.

I'm finding thai spices a great way to spice up PP and PV days. Lemongrass and chillis are so tasty.
