The only time I've gained weight so far at a WI was after I had something apparently salty (I didn't realize it contained so much salt...restaurant meal). So, I think I must be really sensitive to salt and the resulting water retention. I'm drinking more than the 64 oz of water a day, and still felt really bloated after that one meal. So, I'm hesitant to try the creamies. I'll definitely look for the chicken broth you recommend for cooking and just use the clear HNS to get the extra protein.
Creamies were never a problem to me - when I was 5 pounds from my goal I even started experimenting with having 2 a day with no adverse results. But water retention from salty restaurant meals has always been a problem for me since I started the diet. My family likes to go out to eat once on the weekend, and I found out early in the diet that I would retain water from the salt in the food. It would take 3 days before I would lose the water weight. One of the consultants recently told me that taking a fiber after the meal will help flush the water out - I haven't tried it yet, but will next time.

I'm not sure about the answer to your question, but you might try adding maple extract to them. I find that works for me.

I was still at the same weight on Sat when I went to WI. I lost a total of 11 lbs and 12 inches the first month, which is great considering how many times I got off track. I hope to see a greater loss this month. What is most any of you have lost in month. This morning my scale had 197.6, so I am happy but I know that it will not reflect on the MRC scale since I am always a few pound heavier there. I think switching to egg whites and laying off cheese has helped a lot.

The most that I have ever lost in a month was 15 and that was at the very beginning. I have been on a plateau of sorts recently and my average for the entire nine months I have been doing this is about 8 pounds per month.

I am nearly to the 70 pound board (past it on my home scale) and almost to my halfway point (73 pounds). I haven't signed a board in a LONG time and want to get past this.

Great job to all of you!!
You are doing great; just stay focused.... you are so close to that 1/2 way point!

Congrats with your weight loss! I too, being on the program for only 1 week am not tempted...I know it is only the beginning, but I am going into this with a very positive attitude. Everyone is doing so great!

I went on Sat for my WI---day 5 and I am down 10.5 lbs! I am very excited! I plan on trying to keep it up!

So I'm just over 2 weeks in (3 weeks if you count pre-conditioning) and I'm so fed up. I'm losing weight just fine (on MY scale I'm down 15.5 lbs with only 13 more lbs to lose) but I'm so cranky about the whole thing. I don't actually miss the food very much. What I miss is the social aspect I put around the food (actually...the drinking!). I turned down 4 happy hours this past week because I just can't stand not being able to have a martini. And did I mention I'm CRANKY? I've been snapping at my husband a lot lately and I feel sorry for myself for not being able to go out and have fun. Anyone else encountering this?

I keep telling the ladies at my center I ask questions because I need answers that will give me something to look forward to. When I get down to my goal weight, and they start introducing foods back in to my diet, if I go out and start drinking again (meaning 1 or 2 martini's on a Friday night...I'm not a heavy drinker or anything), will I just balloon up and regain weight or as long as it's in moderation I'll be fine?

I'm sick of being a social outcast because of this darn diet.

I'm sick of being a social outcast because of this darn diet.
I can understand the dilemma... I work in the medical field and am "expected" to attend dinners and social events at very upscale restaurants with very rich foods and lots of ETOH (Alcohol). The problem is, you cannot order off the menu in this setting and it would kill my diet in an instant. I have turned down many of these and still haven't figured out a way to get around the whole eating part of it so I can at least still hear the guest lecturer. The idea terrifies me so instead I just say no to everyone's dismay and am beginning to appear somewhat anti-social. I don't want to tell everyone "I can't, I'm on a diet" but have instead just been avoiding the invites, ho hum. I cannot tell you what would happen once you start having 1-2 drinks/week but I can say that you have reached your 1/2 way point very quickly and I've seen your posts and your desire to hit your goal so I know that you can stick with it a while longer to get there. Once you get to maintenance if you have a drink or 2 on Friday and warble off course on the scale, you just get right back on plan and drop those extra 1-2 lbs and keep going. If that is a part of your lifestyle you really enjoy, somehow you will find a way to make it work. 1-2 drinks is very reasonable once or twice a month. I have a dinner coming up that I am absolutely expected to attend in May so I plan to do just that, go, make my best choices, suffer the consequences and just get right back on track!! I would be interested to hear what the girls at the center would say about your q so keep me posted :0)

Been there!! I love, love chicken but eating it so often on this diet got even me sick of it! I was gagging it down for a while. I don't eat fish so I didn't have too many options. Have you tried bison? It tastes almost exactly like hamburger and I love it! It is a little more pricey than ground beef but it was well worth it to me. I don't think I would have made it to the end without it. Yes, they do have a veg plan. I think there is a thread here about it. You're doing great....don't give up!

My center didn't give me a pre-conditioning plan. They just said to cut down on caffeine and sugar and start drinking more water so I don't think you have to be quite as careful with pre-conditioning.

Fifteen pounds is great, but I know most people don't loose that much each month.

I was in the same boat as you last week, the 6 oz of meat was killing me. Kind of grossed me out! I used to be a vegetarian and went back to meat, so I thought the MRC Veg plan would be great for me. Wrong! You get to have more carb choices which is good; brown rice, whole wheat pasta etc. but your protien choices are horrible. You can still have eggs and cheese but mostly it is soy based products; beans are considered starch. It was really gross; Tofurkey soy deli slices etc- yuck! If you like these products though you might like the veg plan. Also, it is high in sodium so you tend to loose slower. If you have anymore questions about the veg plan just ask me, I still have the menu.
