Hi- I've been trying to reboot fora year now. Lots of stress the past year.
I'm having a hard time sticking to one " restricted ". Or even 2. I've missed being on 3fc. My stats are wrong. I've pretty much regained 45 lbs. my husband is supportive but extended family is not. I actually got in big trouble for not eating/drinking off plan stuff at a party after my granddaughter's christening. I'm not kidding. I also am on thyroid meds for HShimotos. Hugs to you!

Dee - this is one of the best diets for us hypothyroid folk. Sorry you got "in trouble" but a slice of advice - the only person you can control is you. I understand as I used to be the ultimate "people pleaser" but as I've aged I've learned people's reactions / problems are not mine and I refuse to take them as my own. There are always going to be family politics but trust me, people will back off when they realize they can't get under your skin. It may even mean "loving from a distance" (I have some very interesting in-laws...)
Look forward to seeing you posts! Please also come join the 2015 group

What kinds of things are you eating for your meat and veggies this time around???

The same as last time. Chicken, turkey and eggs for meat (occasional beef). Veggies is mostly salad type veggies (as I am not really a fan of cooked vegetables)- lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, celery, onion... My vegetable intake pretty much consists of a very large salad at both lunch and dinner.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Beth. I needed the reminder that the only person I can control is me - and I'm not good at that in the food department these days! I will be put to the test again on Dec. 5 at granddaughter's first bday party. I also have borderline type 2 diabetes so I need to take care of myself - no matter what. I am a food addict. have to stay on track and watch the "restricted" IP snacks. I can find anything to overeat!

I am making some new things today. Kind of excited about it.
I have never used a slow cooker before. I was scanning the internet and found a Greek Chicken recipe and a chicken recipe for the slow cooker so I decided to combine the two - make the Greek chicken in the slow cooker. I am excited to try it. I have my chicken marinating now.

Also, I found a recipe for Faux Apple Crisp. I won't make the crisp part, just the "apples", which are made with zucchini. I have struck out in the past trying to make something similar with chayote squash so I hope this comes out better.
I have the WF apple butter that I never found a use for and it is in this recipe so hoping that the combination of a different vegetable and different flavorings makes it more enjoyable than the one with chayote squash. I may even use WF caramel dip in the recipe. Anyhow, I will make that tonight as well.

And, while I was out shopping I found the vegetable spiraletti which will be even easier for me to make zucchini pasta. I was using the veggetti but had been looking for the spiraletti in stores for a while and saw it at Target today for the first time so I picked one up. It is good timing because I bought a bunch of zucchini yesterday.

I hope my recipes come out well!
But, I thought I would pass this onto you. I just mentioned to my sister-in-law that if nothing else, this diet has taught me 3 things about meal preparation that no diet has ever taught me before: 1) different cooking techniques 2) recipes that I never would have thought of before and 3) uses for vegetables that would never have dawned on me. I think I have eaten like 10 vegetables on this diet that I had never tried before (or for a couple of them even knew existed!).

Well lost a couple more pounds. Continued to walk at fitness center on treadmill daily this week until I went to a Zumba class last night!!! That kicked my a$$! It hurt to lift a pen today so no gym today but will get back after it tomorrow -
JENNY- I got the protein crisps today- not bad for 5 carbs. Still LOVE the dill pickle zippers but am going to try not eating them every day. Also am taking a probiotic -2 at night as that was recommended with the yoli diet- it really helps with the constipation that this diet can cause- just an FYI if anyone having issues. Have a great weekend everyone and post! It is nice to hear others success and struggle stories.

Hey rebooters! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Official weigh in today and I lost another 1.4#. I was sweating it this week because the scale was just not moving this week. Finally on Thursday it started to move, but it was stressful. 12.2# down total in 6 weeks, which makes me so happy.

I am hoping to get to 150 by Thanksgiving (12 days). I am not planning on staying OP on Thanksgiving, so if I can get to 150 by then, and then get back there the week after Thanksgiving, that would work out pretty great.

Determined- glad you liked the chips. I think they are a really good unrestricted snack. Plus it really fills that salty, crunchy craving. I also do probiotics, but I do them (1) first thing in the am, (1) 30 min. before lunch and (1) 30 min. before dinner. I agree, they really help keep things moving.

Ro- how did the recipes turn out? I am interested in the greek chicken recipe

Just awesome. Next time I will marinate the chicken even longer (over night) and use even more spices such as oregano and garlic but it was so moist! I think I'll check it at the 2.5 hour mark too vs 3 hours. It required so very little for me to do other than to remember to turn it off after 3 hours. I loved it so much that I just got home from Costco where I bought a slow cooker with a timer and temperature gauge. Mine didn't have either of those.

And, I know you said you were particularly interested in the chicken, but I have to tell you that I was just in love with the apple pie filling...OMG. I swear to you that if we did a taste test with one made with apple and the other zucchini, you could not have guessed which was zucchini. I believe it had to do with the fact that I modified the recipe to really bring out the apple flavor but every bite was better than the last. I wanted to lick the dish at the end I love green apples. When not following IP, I eat one every day so this satisfied that for me.

I started checking around this morning for more recipes and I found one by sugarfreemom.com. She has a recipe for slow cooker lava cake - that got me thinking of a P1 compliant one with quest chocolate powder. I am going to try that within next few days. I was also looking for a sugar free tomato sauce as I prepare for transition, and I found what seems like an easy recipe on her site. So, I wound up ordering both her cookbooks because she has given me such good ideas.

Tonight, I am going to make the cabbage steaks with my remaining turkey meatballs. It should be interesting as I have never tried cabbage. We'll see but Beth and HIS got me intrigued with their reactions to it.
Tomorrow night, I am going to repeat the Faux Apple Crisp but this time I am going to add Healthsmart Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal as a crumble on the top. I think that will be another great addition.
In case you are interested, for the "apple" filling, I used lemon, imitation butter extract, apple extract, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and WF apple butter with 1 packet of Stevia. It made such a nice glaze. SOOOOO much better than the last time I tried making that with chayote squash. And, the baking directions in the recipe were spot on - 400 degrees for 40 minutes was perfect for 2 cups zucchini.

Other than steamed broccoli (my favorite veggie any day of the week), zucchini apples were probably my primary veggie on P1. I bet I had them, with oatmeal, at least three times a week for all 5 months on the program.

That's good to know, HIS, because all those extras is out of character for me which is why I am not eating it today. I don't use added sweeteners or extracts except occasionally. I am worried about it slowing my progress if I consume it too frequently. I assume you used a similar mix - lemon, sweetener, possibly an extract and flavoring.

I love steamed broccoli too - didn't even eat it 5 years ago.

Default Here I am again...

Hi Everyone! What a great thread for all of us rebooters out there. I am back after two years away from IP. I got to my goal almost two years ago and then found out I was pregnant. Here I am back to lose 40lbs of baby weight. But this time I have two kids and a husband who isn't working atm, so I will be doing the alternative method. Which makes me slightly sad, but I'm done being this heavy and want a new start for the new year and spring. Plus I miss how much energy I had eating so well! I need that energy for my kids and life! Anyway, I will be reading through this thread for ideas as well as others for success for the alternative IP programs. Just wanted to say hi to everyone! Life is about ups and downs especially with weight for me. So cheers to everyone going through the re-boot! I ordered some Protidiet stuff that should get here by the end of the week which I will be officially starting then. Until then I will be eating clean to prepare for the first couple of hard IP days ahead. Best of luck to everyone!

Ro- if you could post the chicken recipe, that would be awesome.

I just totally and completely splurged on a low carb BBQ sauce that I found on amazon. BBQ sauce has to be one of the biggest condiments that I miss when doing IP. Although it may not be totally compliant, I still use ketchup, though sparingly. But I could never find a BBQ sauce that I felt comfortable using when doing low carb.

But I was tooling around Amazon, and thought I would check out the low carb products. Well, I came across BBQ sauces and well, I knew right then and there I was splurging. My justification is that I am using alternative products this time around and therefore saving money not buying IP products.

The one I got is called Lynchburg Tennessee Whiskey Sweet & Mild. It only has 1 g carb per serving, 5 calories and it is low sodium too boot. Oh, and it is available for Prime. I am so excited to make either pulled chicken or pulled pork! And now that I have the Quest multi-purpose, there is a delicious sandwich in my future!
