Thanks Jenny

By the way, anyone has a trusted ground chicken recipe for phase I? I have thawed some ground chicken and have no clue what to cook with it!

I'm wondering though, the protein is a rice/pea/soy blend. Is this the wrong type of protein for this diet? I'm on day 4, yesterday I was starving all day, but got on the scale this morning hoping to be 149lbs, and was 148...YAY....and yes, I'm one of those compulsive weigher's, gotta do it every morning...keeps me on track.
The numbers definitely fit protocol. There's really no requirement for what kind of protein you're consuming, so it doesn't matter if it's whey or pea or soy. Whatever you like and can tolerate. Personally, of all the protein powders I've tried (and I've tried 5 or 6), I like Quest the best. It has a nice, smooth consistency and great flavor. Some people think it's too sweet but that's not a problem for me.

__________

Quest chips: I'm not a big fan. I'll buy a package if I'm out and need protein and didn't bring food with me, but otherwise, I'd rather have protein pretzels. I used the Quest BBQ flavor to grind up for meatloaf filler, and that worked great.

Congrats, Sandra! You skipped a whole "decade" in week 1
They are not - far from it actually. They are 8 carbs with 4 g dietary fiber so only 4 net carbs - Nosh away

After re-reading the Phase 1 sheet again, I noticed that the previous time I did a restricted every day, this time I'm going to go without the restricted for a few weeks and see how I do. Good luck to all of you going into the holidays. I'm going to try to be 100% for Thanksgiving, but I know Christmas is going to be a cheat day. But, I own it, and will live with the ramifications. Every day is a new day to be perfect. LOL.
Hi Stanski-
I too am back- I lost 50+ pounds in 2012 and did not phase out correctly either- and I gained it all back- been back on phase one half a$$ed for about 2 months but strictly for two weeks. As of this morning, down 14 pounds!!! Yippee!! There are two things I am doing different this time- I am having a restricted snack once a day sometimes- I had no restricted packets at all last time.i love the dill pickle zippers ( 15 carbs) and if you eat them one at a time, it lasts a long time. Also if I want something sweet instead I will sometimes have the peanut butter soy puffs ( 11 carbs) Jenny told me about quest protein crisps- ( 5 carbs) - I like the sea salt flavor and I have those every other night for my third packet so I am not doing restricted every day. Other than those, I use the ideal protein products as for me they are superior in taste to any other supplement and if I have to cut out so many things, I am going to enjoy what I can have! I don't weigh in with the coach this time- doing it myself which is fine as I am pretty sure I have it all memorized. The person/ chiropractor who sells the product is able to sell to me because she has my health record on file( lame but whatever) also, two weeks ago after doing absolutely no excersise, I started walking on the treadmill for an hour and doing some arm weights three days a week and doing Zumba twice a week. Feeling good- me doing Zumba isn't pretty- kinda looks like the chicken dance but I sweat like crazy and am going to try to stick with it. Welcome back- post often, it helps us all!

It's good "game day" food, when everyone around me is chowing down on snacks I can fit in and stay OP.
I like the salt and vinegar too- my only problem with them is there isn't enough in a bag!!! but they certainly are another tool to help with the crunchy fix- thanks again Jenny!

I hope to see my lowest number (193) soon and hopefully on to the goal of 175.
Way to gothere definitely are benefits to the accountability of the same person weighing you on the same scale each week! I use ideal protein products too- I just like them better than others I have tried. Way to go- post often on your progress- it helps me and I do get excited for all of my virtual friends and their successes!!!!!!!!

Default Peanut Butter Waffle with Peanut Butter Syrup!

I have just a few minutes as I have to take my friend to the airport, and it will be slow going as we got a bunch of snow overnight and it is still coming down pretty hard.

But, I just wanted to quickly share...I just made a peanut butter waffle (Quest Peanut Butter Protein powder) with WF peanut butte/maple syrup combined (base recipes in Janeva's cookbook) and it was just great.
I made it the other day with the multi-purpose but I think I'll save that for breads as the sweetness of the flavored powder definitely took it up a notch.

I am one of those who weigh themselves everyday even though I know I shouldn't, but this is what keeps me going and I've been doing this since forever, so no chance to stop now, and the good news is.... As of today, I lost 11 pounds already! So I did it! Exactly like the first time, I did lose 11 pounds the first week.

I'm so happy, I am going to stick to this, I'm sure this time.
Way to go!!!!!! getting through that first week it at least half the battle- getting past that " well I will start tomorrow" day after day. Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! So much success this week on the reboots! Everyone is doing awesome!

I am down 2.4# this week, bringing my total down to 14.6#. I am THIS close to getting out of the 150's and hitting the milestone of 15# lost. Possibly by my mid-week check...

Glad you guys are liking the Quest products. I love them and will likely continue to use them after P1. The protein powders just taste so great, either as shakes or as baked goods. I have been doing some experimenting with the multi-purpose powder, I'll let you know how it goes. It makes incredible "bread" products, but I am working on making them into more sweet items by using extract flavorings. I made key lime cakes last night, but there was something missing from the recipe. They tasted fine enough to eat, but not as good as just making it from the flavored protein powder. I will have another opportunity at lunch today to try again If I ever get the recipe spot on, I will post and share!

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Lots of holiday prep and food shopping going on around my house today. Company arrives on Tuesday, so lots to do.

Jenny - way to go on the weigh-in! I read your plan for holidays in regards to the program. I just don't trust myself to get right back so being as close as I am, I am going to stay OP on Thanksgiving (I'll probably just boost my calorie intake by a few hundred calories but stay in ketosis) hoping that I have reached goal and transitioned by Christmas. I weigh-in on Monday so that will give me a better idea if I can make it. I am due for a 4-5 pound drop so if that happens, I can do it.

I feel really good - I must be dropping inches now or it is just more noticeable. I am also proud of myself this week for staying OP. My friends were in town this week and we went to three of my favorite restaurants, and I had my Quest cookies 2 of the times and plain chicken with green vegetable for the other and that was at an Italian restaurant!

I did get the Crockpot French Dip Au Jus from Janeva's recipe book in the crockpot. It will be ready around 6:30 so can't wait to try it. If I don't like it, I"ll just have my peanut butter waffles for dinner - I wouldn't mind at all
On a side note, I was surprised to find so much inconsistent nutritional data on beef chuck roast - the calorie and fat count varied widely. I went with the same site I always do but not sure that I am confident in the macros - 1 oz (28 grams) 35 cal, 1 fat, 6 protein. I am going to have 4 oz with the roll I am making to account for 8 oz dinner protein.

French dip came out very good. I wish the au jus was a bit more salty. I'll adjust it next time - it seems that recipe is a low sodium one or something like it.
Setting my waffle maker on max for 4.5 minutes made the roll perfectly. It held together as a roll but was soft enough that it didn't break when I folded it (I put the meat on like an open faced sandwich and then folded it to dip it in the au jus. And, as you guys said, the multi-purpose Quest powder worked great for it.

I have found a great idea at least for me! I used WF sweet cream (coffee creamer) instead of skim milk for the batter and really liked that. It will be especially great for waffles. I got both sweet cream and french vanilla as my replacement for vanilla protein or skim milk as liquid for the batter. Can't wait to make my breakfast waffle tomorrow with it!

Default Thanksgiving Menu

I just planned my menu for Thanksgiving.

Here is what I am having:
B: From Janeva Cookbook - Pumpkin Bread (I'll modify the recipe a bit to use alternatives - Quest Vanilla powder with liquid Stevia pumpkin and Healthsmart Oatmeal. I'll substitute WF sweet cream instead of skim milk and vanilla drink liquid).
L: Quest Cookie with Healthsmart Hot Chocolate
D: 6 oz Turkey
IP Gravy by using 1/2 packet of Chicken Soup with 3 oz of water
"Mashed Potatoes" - Made with 2 c cauliflower and 1/2 packet of IP chicken soup (remainder from the gravy recipe) and 2 tsp olive oil (I may use my sweat cream here too).
"Cranberry" Jelly - 2 c Rhubarb with WF Raspberry fruit spread with Knox plain gelatin
S (Dessert): Pumpkin Free Pumpkin Pie - Quest Vanilla with liquid Stevia pumpkin with pumpkin pie spice - it will come out a pudding consistency but I will try a little less water to get it a little firmer. I have tried using the gelatin mix with the Quest powder to get like a pie filling and it was an epic fail. Not sure if my idea was a bad one or if my ratios were off.

Macros for the day:
964 calories, 162 g Protein (67%), 20 g Fat (19%), 35 g Carb (14%)

Last year was very boring for me. For dinner, I had 8 oz turkey, 2 c broccoli with olive oil and a chocolate pudding cup for dessert.
I am looking so much more forward to this year and feeling good that I am able to create a meal that I can partake in a modified version of traditional foods and feeling good that this will not adversely affect my diet efforts.

I weigh-in tomorrow and I don't anticipate altering this plan regardless of what the scale shows.

Ro- I also made the French dip this weekend, but I haven't had a chance to have it yet! Although I did try a bite and I loved it. It's funny that you thought it needed more salt, my first impression was that the teaspoon of added salt is completely unnecessary

I typically do not have an issue jumping off plan for a day or a meal and getting right back on track, so I am not really worried about Thanksgiving. It actually keeps me more in line knowing that I have a special cheat coming up. I know it will take time to work off that day and could very well be a week until I start losing again, but to me, it is worth it.

I have been totally digging making the rolls with the added onion powder and garlic powder. It is my now my go to.

I also haven't had a chance to try a modified recipe using the multi-purpose. This weekend has been extremely busy and I have been just relying on the basics. Also, we ate out a few times, and even though I stayed OP, it is just not the same as making your own food. I am glad that I am back to routine tomorrow.

Hope you all had a good weekend!
