Happy Valentines Day everyone.

Ellen 02-15-2010 12:23 AM

Hello everyone! I can't believe I have not been on since Thursday! Tom was off Friday and Saturday and today and will be off tomorrow too...he tends to be distracting when he is around and I don't get to everything I usually do online.

We have been listening to a book on tape together...he wanted to play it while surfing online the other night here in the office, and it got me hooked on it too. It is a about a runner, called Born To Run and his progression from an injured runner to barefoot runner and about the tribe in Mexico that is made up of the best runners in the world. Anyway, I am getting interested in trying a couch to 5k program again....in my vibram five fingers. ;)

The sleep study went ok. Its hard to sleep in a strange place all wired up. I had leads to seven places on my head alone. I did not stop breathing as much as I expected they would find, but my oxygen levels drop a lot during sleep due to shallow breathing. I am not sure what that all means, but will find out when the doctor calls to discuss the results and his recommendations. If it is severe enough, they may want me to use oxygen at night. Weird!

I made an Indian feast last night...it was SO yummy! Tonight was rather simple. I just did not feel much like eating.

Oh, and I got in a 30 minute walk with Tom. We had about 3 or 4 inches of snow, but it has melted enough to get out and walk now. :)

 Gotta go to bed! Good night!

CountryMom4Him 02-15-2010 10:20 AM

Good morning

How are ya'll today? I"m good. Eating was okay enough over the weekend. My weight is up a bit but I'm guessing hormones. :) Finally got off my lazy hiney and made the bread. It came out great but as always we ate almost the whole loaf as it came out the oven so I put another sponge to rising last night and have another loaf rising this morning to share with my mom.

The other night I did opt for the frijitas. My son cooked them on the grill and they were SO tasty.

I appreciate all the nice comments about my cooking.

Valentines was nice. We didn't do anything special but we spent time together which is a blessing.

Don't know that I agree with today's daily tip but I know that it works for some. My daugther stayed tiny eating this way until the baby.

Daily email tip:
Six Meals A Day Is The Best Way
Just because we've been raised to eat three big meals a day doesn't mean it's the right way. Research shows the best way to keep your metabolism revved up is to eat small, frequent meals. When you wake up, enjoy a balanced breakfast. Within a few hours, enjoy a mid-morning snack. Come lunchtime, treat yourself to a sandwich and soup or a burger and side salad. By 3:00 or 4:00, you'll be ready for an afternoon snack. Dinner should consist of a protein, a healthy carb and a vegetable. If you get hungry following supper, indulge in a smart dessert like fruit.

Hope ya'll have a SUPER day. ((Everybody))

God bless,
Crystle

Good morning. I did fine over the week end. I hope I lose this week. Its snowing a bit here and has snowed in the night. Can't wait for spring. LOL. Have to be sure and get on the treadmill today. Think I might make a taco soup for dinner.

Ellen- Great walking even when it snowed. It must have been nice having Tom home for a few days. Makes for a change. Are you going for water aerobics today? I've never tasted indian food and would love to.

Crystle- Thats great your bread turned out. And theres nothing like hot bread out of the oven. How cool is that your son cooking... Maybe you'll go down in weight by Wed.

Going to go make breakfast. Check back later.

Ellen 02-15-2010 02:24 PM

Afternoon! Just got back from a 30 minute walk with Tom. We ran a little and tried to talk about form and what the best one is. Using what we have learned from the book on tape, I ran about half a minute. It felt, well, FUN. I don't have the endurance to do it long, but I don't think I would hurt anymore than I do walking. Its something to work up to! It is cold here, but at least the sun is shining. The second sleet/snow fall they were predicting did not happen. Now the forecast calls for sunny or partly sunny all week. Too bad the temps are still in the 30's to 40's all week. I am kind of ready for some 50's and 60's. Yes, yes, I am a wimp.

Lunch was a delicata squash, a spoonful of almond butter, and water. Dinner will be at small group from church tonight. The hostess is making a chicken and rice soup. I am supposed to take cornbread. They asked if I wanted to bring gluten free stuff, but I don't want to make gluten free cornbread without eggs, so I am just going to make some nice muffins and not worry about being gluten free or egg free...I just won't eat any.

So this book on running is really interesting. To train, the author was trying to emulate the greatest runners in the world- the Tarahumara
tribe from Chihhuahua Mexico- who eat mostly corn, beans, and chia seeds. He was having a hard time losing weight, even while running ten or twenty miles a day until he switched up his menus and started eating salad for breakfast! I am going to try this and let you know how it goes! :)

Ok, off to do chores ! :grouphug: will check in later!

Morning ladies:

I had a very busy weekend and I was off on yesterday. We has a great baby shower for my niece at a great place (her mom gave her a sit down dinner shower it was wonderful the guest loved it and we had great food.) She had 2 tables of gifts. I had a house full of guest again because family members came from out of town.

My eating was okay over the weekend but not perfect. I had a great time celebrating. I will see what happens on the scale tomorrow. I'm not going to worry one way or the other. I walked on the treadmill this weekend and yesterday. Have a great day everyone.

Solly 02-16-2010 12:07 PM

Hi ladies, just a quick check-in.

We got about 4+" of snow yesterday and I have been working non-stop on a proposal and also a bid today. Eating has been horrible. Not looking forward to the scale tomorrow. Plus we ate out pizza for Valentines Day and my birthday and then DH took me out last night and all we could get were appetizers due to the weather. So, not good eating.

Toni, I hope you get a good report tomorrow, you deserve it. Please quit sending us snow. We are expecting more this Friday and St and then again next Monday. I am so tired of this stuff.

Ellen, I heard you all got snow also. At least your's melted away. Ours will be here until June. God job on adding some running. I need to send you a PM about your gluten intolerance.

Mercee, good idea not to worry about the scale. Life happens. Good job with your exercise though.

Crystle, I think we will have fajitas tonight. I was supposed to have bunco, but that got cancelled due to the weather. Your bread sounds wonderful. I can smell it from here. I would have problems not eating the entire loaf.

Got to get busy with this bid. Have a great day.

Howdeeee

Good afternoon. It is SO cold. Compared to others I know that it is warm but I'm so cold natured. My husband and I always tease about it. I told him it is not fair, I'm a big girl so I'm suppose to always be hot. :)

My mom came up with an idea for the bread so I'm fixing to cook another loaf loaded with flax seed and ground pecans. She suggested walnuts but I hid them from myself. The loaf with flax seed came out great. I'm hoping to find some unsalted sunflower seeds to try at some point. Eating has been okay. Yesterday it was mostly bread. I'd sneak a bite here and there but calorie wise under my daily.

Daily email tip:

Who Says It's Not Easy Eating Green
Go green. Load up sandwiches and salads with plenty of garden variety vegetables. Add fresh spinach leaves to compliment your ham and cheese sandwich or top your salad with broccoli, celery and other popular greens. Green fruits and vegetables lower your risk of cancer, prevent degenerative eye diseases and strengthen bones and teeth. Avocados, artichokes, celery, cabbage and watercress are all low-calorie, health-enhancing staples that bring plenty of flavor to the table.

Solly...I am not looking forward to the scales tomorrow either. I'd eat at least half the loaf if my boys weren't so quick..LOL They can get half of it gone before it even begins to cool down. They don't like to wait to cut it.

Ellen...awesome running a bit. I can't hardly get my bootie outside to walk much less run.

Mercee...I think we lose more weight sometimes when we don't worry about the scales. Stress alone can keep the pounds on us. When you are walking like you are doing and eating well for the most part it will pay off.

Toni...taco soup sounds so good. I know you've posted before but I'd love it if you'd private message me or share here so I can save this time.

Okay missing ladies....COME BACK!! ((HUGGZZ))

Hope and pray ya'll have a super day.

God bless,
Crystle

Happy Birthday Dear Solly..... :bday2you:

Howdy all. Glad tomorrow is Wed. and I can weigh in. Lose or not I just want my week in. Then DH and I are going out of town to do some shopping and get away for the day. I've been staying in and we both need out of here. Eating has been fine. I'm out of fresh veggies so need to pick up some while I'm out. Guess I'm making a meatloaf tonight with brown rice and green beans.

Solly- We're supposed to get snow Friday and Sat. and theres snow on the ground here now. Steve is taking me out for mexican food tomorrow for a belated Valentines day. Hope the scale is easy on you.

Mercee- Good girl on walking on the treadmill. Keep the good work up.

Ellen- That sounds like a great book your listening too. Thats wild eating salad at breakfast. Would love to hear more about it. Your walk run sounds great.

Well I have leftover black bean soup for lunch so guess I'll go heat it.

Toni48 02-16-2010 01:43 PM

Crystle- We must have been posting at the same time. I would be eating that bread too. I'll post the recipe in a bit.

Toni48 02-16-2010 01:49 PM

Taco soup

1 lb hamburger
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp chili powder
1tsp cumin
2 cans rotel tomato's with green chili's
2 cans chicken broth (I used Beef Broth)
1 8 0z pkg cream cheese (I use the lower fat kind)
1/2 cup cream ( I use fat free cream)

brown hamburger and then add onion and cook until soft then add garlic chili powder and cumin add the tomatos and chicken broth bring to a boil then addd cream and cream cheese (I soften my cream cheese in the microwave and it will blend in better) simmer for about 30 min and then serve with sour cream and avacodo slices.

Ok, here is a quick update: The doctor from the sleep center reviewed my study. His assistant called yesterday afternoon. I was lulled into a false feeling of well being by what the tech said. Actually, from what the report said, I hardly breathe at all when I am asleep. I had 128 events in an hour...or one every 30 seconds. No wonder I am so tired all the time, and can't lose weight! I have to go back for a follow up study to fit me with a cpap machine...the only option for treatment open for such severe apnea. As a nurse friend of mine said to me, I am lucky to wake up in the morning. So, I am kind of wrapped up in dealing with this. My hubby has sleep apnea, even though he has no risk factors, and could not tolerate a cpap..I am a bit concerned about whether I will be able to. I am praying by God's grace, I will take to it with no problem.

SOLLY: Happy Birthday! :balloons:

CountryMom4Him 02-16-2010 04:42 PM

Good afternoon

Happy Birthday Solly...I didn't realize today was your special day. I hope it is full of all that is good.
.
Toni...thank you so much for the recipe. It sounds wonderful.

Ellen...praying the cpac works out for you. My baby sister had to use one for a while. When she lost her weight she was able to not use it anymore. I hope that holds true for you too.

Let me just tell ya'll, the pecans add an awesome flavor. :)

Better get moving and walk off some of this fresh bread..LOL

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Toni48 02-16-2010 05:19 PM

I just watched Dr. Oz it was so good. It was all about weight. Does anyone else watch him?

CountryMom4Him 02-16-2010 07:23 PM

Oz watcher

Toni I watch Dr. Oz also. I record him so I can watch the parts I want...LOL And I forgot to tell you great minds think alike. We are having meatloaf also.

Jess and I had some work to do outside so I picked some fresh carrots, beets and swiss chard to go with it. I'm also gonna make some couscous. Robert would prefer I make potatoes but I'm gonna try to get out of making them.

Love,
Crystle
