Good afternoon

We just got back from town. Robert may have found me a treadmill. He won't commit until I get a chance to look at it. :) Not a lot to chat about this afternoon, mostly because I'm kinda grouchy. But I did wanna pop in and see how everyone is doing. ((Everybody))

Toni...hope you feel better soon.

Mercee...thanks so much for your good wishes for Robert. I have faith but I'm a little off balance when he isn't feeling well. I just want it to happen yesterday. :)

Solly...WTG at the gym. I should be walking now but you see where I am.

Ellen...thanks for the recipe. Zachary might like the brussel sprouts roasted. He really dislikes them and the only way so far I've found is to cut them in half and let them caramelize in the fry pan. He actually called the cabbage good last night, a miracle.

Tech...hope you aren't getting the nasty winter weather I've been hearing about.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Can't sleep again tonight. I really hate these nights..... I walked with a friend yesterday...(Thurs) she came over with her five year old son and my grandson happened to be over. The boys ran the whole way. Oh to have that kind of energy!

SOLLY: Wow, $80 sounds like a lot! I would be VERY happy if I could sell them for $30.
COUNTRY: I hope you are over the grumps. That would be awesome if you can get the treadmill!

TONI: Oh, do take it easy and I hope you feel better soon!

Mercee: Hope you are well!

NURSEDEE: Are you feeling better? Been worrying about how you are...

TECH:  Hey, did you ever find a place to get that Thai stuff near you?

Ok, off to try and sleep. . Night.

Happy Friday

I know I am ready for the weekend. No plans but to relax. My youngest is out of town for the weekend, DH is hunting tomorrow swo I guess I will hook up with my eldest and GS and go shopping or something. Unless we get a bunch of snow, which they keep changing hour to hour, station to station. At least it is on the weekend and DH can take us anywhere we would need to go. I have a hair appt but ca always change that.
Sunday we are celebrating by DD's birthday. I can't beleive my baby will be 30. I feel really old.

Toni, I am sorry you are feeling bad. Hope today is better for you. Did you all get any snow yet. They are saying around 6:00 tonight it will hit.

Crystle, I am happy that you may get a new :tread: I hope your mood has improved and you are feeling better.

Mercee, I watched the end of the BL last night also. That lady on the red team sure is a trouble maker. But of course they have to have 1 every year to make it exciting.

Ellen, Sorry you can't sleep. That just ruins you whole day. Are you still selling things on Etsy?

Nursedee, hope you are feeling better today.

Off to log my food. I'll check back l

Ellen 01-29-2010 10:19 AM

Morning! I finally got back in bed last night around 1:30...and fell asleep soon after. Tom woke me at 8 to make his lunch as I had asked him to. That is not great, but seven hours is better than the night before!

Tonight we will have our grandson here while his parents go to a party near us. They just bought a house that is about 45 minutes away, so we don't see them as often anymore. Yesterday, my son in law dropped my daughter at work, then came over here with my grandson and spent the better part of the day. He was very helpful doing some chores for me, while I played with the boy. It was nice, and I love seeing my grandson.

Tomorrow night we have a birthday party to go to for Tom's boss' three year old son. We are taking our grandson with as the party is at one of those inflatable jumping thing places. Our grandson LOVES those places...should be an interesting night.

Sunday is our granddaughter's first birthday party here. I just need to clean and make the cake. They are doing all the food. Lets hope they are planning on doing all the clean up too...though I am not confident that is the case! I need to head out to the grocery store to get what I need to make the cake soon. I need just about every essential too...I have been waiting for payday! I  payday so much I could kiss it!

SOLLY: I hope you have a good weekend! They have been calling for frozen precipitation here. I am hoping they change it to just rain..but sunshine and warm temperatures would be even more welcome!

CountryMom4Him 01-29-2010 11:05 AM

Good Morning

I'm over myself today. :) Too many blessing to whine over the things that don't go my way. It is cold and rainy outside today so no walking. It's hard to believe it's only six weeks until our first spring planting. I'm already looking forward to fresh green beans. I need to start some seedlings indoors pretty soon also.

Buffalo spaghetti came out great last night. I used one pound and it is going to end up making two meals. I did add extras like whole mushrooms and black olives. That helps give it more texture. My hubby likes a really thick sauce.

The boys new school came in and they seem very excited to start it. That is after the initial moans and groans..LOL Jess is a senior this year. I'm so proud of him. School hasn't been easy for him but he has persevered.

Today's email tip:

Save Calories At Meals
Drink a glass of water before you eat. Many times we go into a meal feeling famished. Consuming eight ounces of water 30 minutes before you sit down to eat works wonders. The water fills you up and you won't be as hungry when your meal is served. In turn, you'll be less likely to overeat. Water eases cravings and controls hunger without costing you any calories.

An oldie but goodie. I need to start drinking water period. When I first started eating this way I drank water water and more water. I truly think it made the biggest difference yet I can not seem to make it habit. Another think I used to do was NOT eat after 8. The night time munchies is the hardest habit for me to break. I think for me even eating legal foods late at night is a hindrance to success.

You ladies truly are the best and I'm so glad to have a place to come and share our struggles and victories. I'm looking forward to lots victories. :)

Those who are feeling poorly you are in my prayers. May you recover quickly. ((hugzz))

Gotta make a quick phone call. I'm be back later.

God bless,
Crystle

Where the heck as the week gone to?

We had lake effect snow yesterday (actually the night before) and got a quick 6 inches overnight. The kids had a two-hour delay, which i hate because it totally screws up my schedule. I had a two haircuts just outside of town and when I got to their road, it hadn't been plowed yet! So, I turned down the road and aimed in the middle of the trees on either side of the road and hoped i was in the middle. :fr: But $35 is $35.

I took the money to the store and bought some boneless pork chops. I put them in my slow cooker with some onion, garlic, lemon, cumin, cinnamon, oregano, cilantro and olive oil. once it was cooked down, I spread it on a cookie sheet and broiled it so it browned up. Then we put it on some (yes, illegal) corn tortillas with some lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Derek called it Carnetas. I called it frikken YUMMY! I had three. Not totally legal with the corn tortillas, but I can do worse!!

I didnt' walk with Leslie yesterday because of everyone being home sporadically. Shelley has midterm exams and since the am test was cancelled due to the delay, she didn't have to go in till 1pm, Kyle had to be in at 10:30...had to work in my haircuts and save time for brushing off snow and crappy roads. Derek just stayed home (which is why I had wheels). Then I had a haircut come to my house at 3:30. Confusing day.

I do need to get out and walk still. I've been harvesting crops on Farmville and selling fish on Fishville on Facebook. We have been all changing our profile picture to a celebrity we have been told we look like. I used Farrah Fawcett. I haven't gotten that since about the early 90's, but I did get it a lot, once upon a time. LOL I attached the picture I used. I had the hair down pat! LOL

Okay...off to walk...replies later...

Mercee 01-29-2010 12:05 PM

Morning ladies:

I have a very busy day at work going on. I just wanted to stop in and say HI. I am doing well and staying OP. This weekend I am going out with my family for dinner to celebrate my B-day. Have a great day and weekend if I don't get back.

techwife 01-29-2010 01:35 PM

Breakfast was the usual...Kashi, 1/2 banana, nsa orange juice and coffee

Walking with leslie was very sweaty

Lunch was a turkey sandwich on WW rounds with lots of lettuce and tomatoes and easy on the mustard...lots of water...and a 1/4 cantaloupe.

Replies will still have to be later. Shelley just got home from school after her two midterm exams. We're going to watch a movie...I'm hoping it involves either Edward or Harry Potter.

I have a good tip. It sort of goes along with Crystle's tip.

Hungry or Thirsty?

Some cravings for food are actually thirst in disguise, says nutritionist and life coach Jonny Bowden, PhD, CNS. Since most of us walk around underhydrated, half the time what we perceive as hunger is really thirst. When a craving hits, you can test if it's hunger or thirst by drinking a couple glasses of water, preferably with a slice of lemon, then waiting a few minutes to see if you're still hungry.

Crystle, glad you mood improved. Someties we just can't help ourselves.

Mercee, enjoyyour birthday dinner.

Tech, I guess you all are more equipped or better at riving in 6" of snow than we are here. Our whole city about shuts down.

Toni48 01-29-2010 02:45 PM

Howdy ho from snowy Missouri. It started snowing here about 8 this morning and hasn't stopped. Glad I don't have to go out today. Ate oatmeal, toast and OJ for breakfast/lunch. I also got some boiled eggs done for snacking later. Tonight will be stir fried brown rice with leftover pork and maybe the rest of my brussel sprouts.

Solly- I hope you have a good week end and don't get this snow we're getting but I'm thinking you're going to get it. So it might be a good time to stay in.

Crystle- Oh boy I hope it works out that you get the treadmill. Wow what is buffalo spaghetti, it sounds yummy. I'm with you and the water. I just plain need to drink more of it.

Tech-Wow you're doing so good with the Leslie CD. Keep up the good work. Your dinner sounds so good. Sometimes you just have to break loose.

Mercee- Howdy, hope you're having a good day.

Ellen- Hope you get a little nap today. What a wonderful time you're having with your Grandson. He'll have a ball at the party. What kind of cake are you making?

Think its about time for a little nap.

techwife 01-29-2010 03:25 PM

Toni: I need to boil some eggs for snacking. They're so good. How much snow have you gotten?

Solly: Lake effect snow is a lot lighter and fluffier than standard snow. Its like styrofoam peanuts, but a LOT of them. Problem is when the wind picks up and then you can't see where you're going. It's like driving in a glass of milk and THAT's scary! :fr:

Mercee:  Back atcha!!

Crystle: I hear ya with the too many blessings to whine thing. I have LOTS I could whine about, but if I look around, i have lots to be thankful for, too.

Ellen: I think of you every time I open my cupboard and see the cans you sent me. Not that I don't love them...I made your recipe and i was the only one that liked it. I loved it, in fact. I'll have to makeit for lunch since I'm the only one around here for lunch. But, no, I'm lucky to buy apples around here, much less Thai food. LOL

Shelley just had me watching Touched by an Angel with her. We've been DVRing the episodes and I'm surprised at how many episodes I hadn't seen! She LOVES that show...she was just a baby when it was on at first and I used to watch it when she went to bed. Now I'm rediscovering one of my favorites and bawling my eyes out with her at the end of almost every episode. Its as bad (in a good way) as Little House on the Prairie.

Okay...I'll be back later.

good morning saturday to everyone,

i have had a fair week, missed weigh in wednesday because i had weigh in monday at the doctor's office. he was happy about the weight loss, 25 pounds since i had seen him last in sept. still trying to adjust my diabetic meds, am trying metformin again, hope it doesn't make me sick like last time.

santa brought a wii and wii fit plus, so i am trying, my 17 year old is exercising with me. too cold to walk outside, these temps in the teens and below are toooo cold for this former florida girl.

Good afternoon

Howdy. Not a lot going on because it is so cold here. We did have a yummy breakfast. It was asparagus, broccoli, tomato, onion, pepper and bell pepper in a whole wheat tortilla with a fried egg busted on top. Very filling. I'm trying really hard to feed my hubby healthier foods with less salt to help lower his blood pressure. Not being able to exercise has been hard on him. He hasn't gained much weight on the scales but he feels like he is losing muscle tone.

Toni...the buffalo spaghetti was made with a pound of buffalo and two 28 ounce cans of crushed tomato, one 6 ounce tomato paste and a little can of tomato sauce. My guys are big eaters so I only ended up with 7 servings. If I had made more than a pound of pasta I would have gotten two meals out of it. Last night I served it mostly saucy because I was being lazy. :)

Happy...awesome on your 25 pounds and working out with the wii. You'll have to let us know if it's any fun and how you feel after doing it a while.

Tech...I would be so scared driving in all that snow. Then again I don't drive now unless I have to. :)

Solly...loved your tip. It is a really good one to remember especially this time of year when my drinking is almost nil.

Mercee...hope you are having a super b-day celebration.

Ellen..can't wait to hear all about the party. I'm sure it will be perfect. Just being with family and friends is such a blessing.

NurseDee, Bob, Scrappinhut, ((hugzz))

Robert is restless so I need to get.

God bless,
Crystle

Good Saturday afternoon. We're snowed in here a bit. Lovely white deep snow. The county brought a plow down early this morning and plowed our hill so hopefully tomorrow hubby will try to get out in our 4x4. It snow all day yesterday and most of the night. The moon was full and beautiful. Just love it. Had cherrios for breakfast. Need to start thinking of lunch soon. Then tonight I think I'll make some spanish rice with brown rice and hamburger for dinner. Haven't decieded what to have on the side.

Happy- Thats great you're doing so good. Tell us about the wii fit?

Crystle- Thank you for the recipe. Buffalo is so lean and healthy. Your breakfast was amazing.

Kris- Hope you're having a good OP week end.
