Good afternoon.
It is so nice today. The front door is open and the fresh air is coming in stirring up the smells coming from the oven. :) My youngest turned 13 yesterday and I made him a chocolate cake. I did eat a bit but not too much. Frosting well, that's another story. I did dip in the frosting. :dizzy: Dinner was yummy. My step dad surprised me with sushi. It was smoked salmon and I just knew I wasn't going to be able to eat it but I kept an open mind and it was good. That was the first time I ever liked salmon other than canned salmon. I LOVE salmon patties.
My neighbors were out on their 4-wheelers at 8:30 this morning. Not a sound to wake up to. :) Daily Email Tip: Words of Weight-Loss Wisdom Create a motivational mantra. I am what I eat. Bigger isn't better. I'm in it to win it. Think of a saying that reflects your weight-loss journey and stick to it. When you wake up in the morning, state your mantra aloud. When you're feeling weak, recite your saying over and over. Let these words be inspirational enough to steer you away from unhealthy behaviors. Some motivational things I think of are: We are worth it. Food is not my idol. Aiming to be healthy. Ellen...how fun. I wish we had a farmers market closer to the house. Thank you so much for your kind words about Lilly. Solly...so glad to hear you are feeling better. Hope you are having a good day at the mission. Mercee...how scary. Praise God you are okay and were able to fix it. Toni...hope you are having a good weekend. ((Everybody)) God bless, Crystle |
Bread is EVIL
Okay that is a little harsh...LOL :) It is too hard to have self control when fresh whole wheat honey bread first comes out of the oven. Good thing my guys are greedier than I am. :) Robert was way happier with this bread than the sourdough. So I'll probably be making this one for a while. It will lose its novelty after a few loaves. :dizzy:
It is beyond beautiful outside. It is an amazing 68 degrees. I should be out there walking but I've been busy checking some things online. ((Everybody)) Hope ya'll are having an AWESOME day. God bless, Crystle |
La La La La
One is the loneliest number... :carrot: Hope the quiet board means everyone is having a super weekend. I'm having some quiet time with my coffee and hymns this morning so I thought I'd pop in and say howdy. So far it is a great day.
((Everybody)) Love and hugs, Crystle |
Sorry I've been missing in action. We got our new dryer hooked in Friday evening and have been washing and cleaning ever since. Everything is a mess so we've been busy. I didn't do well last night on eating Steve went and got us a pizza in town. It was not legal to eat. But today is another day.
Crystal- I would love to make some good whole wheat bread. Steve would be in heaven. LOL Its so beautiful today. Its already 60 here this morning. Can't wait till Steve gets up and I can get the windows opened. I hope we're going to barbecue this evening. I'm having my morning coffee and enjoying the quiet. Ellen-Hope your fish are still okay. I've forgotten what a three year old can get into. I bet he kept you on the run. Hope you're still sleeping good. And had a restful week end. Solly- How'd it go at the Mission. I hope you're still feeling better. Don't you just love this beautiful weather. Mercee- So glad you're safe and sound. That would be so dangerous. Hope you're having a good week end. Off to start my day. |
Hi ladies, Sorry I didn't get one this weekend. Saturday was a busy day and then I felt horrible again yesterday. All I could do to sit through church and then we had to go to the grocery. I hit the couch to watch the ballgame until half time. Then I forced myself to clean. I wanted to get outside but I just didn't feel up to it. Finally I took the dog for a walk and I sat outside with him for awhile. Fixed dinner and hit the couch until bed time. I slept all night (which is totally unheard of with me) and feel better today. I probably should have taken a nap yeterday but I didn't want to waste a beautiful day.
Hope everyone had a beautiful weekend too. Hopefully I am back on track today with my eating and exercising. I had a protein shake for breakfast and I brought my gym clothes. I want to get home and take a walk as it is supposed to be in the 60's today so I might do tht and either go to the gym after dinner. Hopefully, we will be able to get our new treadmill in the basement tonight. Right now it is sitting in the garage. Ellen, sounds like you are getting used to your mask. I am a mouth breather so I would have trouble keeping mine closed. Hope you had fun keeping your GS. I love it when mine speds the night. Crystle, I love your new pic. I assume that is your hubby. He reminds me of someone, but I can't figure it out right now. Handsome guy. Get out and walk off that icing and cake so you don't have to pay for it WIW. I like your tip, I think that is a good thing to do. I think mine will be " I want to fit into a pair of skinny jeans" ha-ha. Nothibng like hot fresh baked bread, yum! Toni, glad you got your dryer hooked up. Luckily, my Dh does the laundry so I don't fool with it much. But we have a front loader and I love them. Things happen, sometimes you can't cook and pizza is a quick and easy option. So the best thing to do is do portion control and not go overboard. So easy for me to say rather than do. But we need to learn that as situations will arise in our life like that and we need to know how to handle them. Yes, it was a beautiful weekend here also. I beleive the rain is coming though. Off to do some work, I will try to check back later. I need to go log in my food. I haven't done that for awhile. |
Good morning. I stayed up way to late last night. Darn its so easy to slip into those old sleep patterns of staying up late. And I've got a ton of cleaning to do today. Oh well maybe a nap this afternoon. Hope my food scale would hurry and get here. I can tell my portions are getting bigger. Had such a nice week end I'm kind of sorry its over. We barbecued and also watched the movie 2012. While having a beautiful breeze blowing in the windows.
Crystle- Love the picture of Robert and you. He's a good looking man. And you two look like you belong together. Are you making more of that good home baked bread today? Solly- How awful you're not over the bug you have. Maybe this week it will go away. Hope you get to go to the gym. Your treadmill is so close. Almost to the basement. Lets have a good week...... Be back later. Off to finish my coffee and the news. |
good morning
Sitting here drinking my first cup of coffee. We had a rough sleeping night last night. The cat kept trying to get in the door. It was thundering. So I'm a bit on the slow side this morning but at least I'm moving. :) We tried the whole wheat orzo last night and it was really good. The first whole wheat product I've preferred over white. The scales are still on the high side so I'll probably have to update my ticker Wed.
Email Tip: The Importance of Being Hydrated Drink up. Throughout your workout, your body can burn up to a liter in water. These fluids must be replaced in order to prevent dehydration. To avoid getting heat stroke, stay hydrated. Consume a cup of water for every 15 minutes you exercise...at the very least. Experts also suggest that endurance athletes replenish their fluids with sports drinks that fuel the muscles and replace electrolytes that are lost through sweat. I need to get back to drinking water. Solly...thank you. Yes, that is my husband. When he grows his hair out I'll have to share another picture. He is SO blond headed and has a ton of hair. He just shaves it because he likes the look. I'm so sorry that this illness is still hanging around. Hopefully with the good nights rest you were able to shake it. It is great that you were able to sleep all night. Toni..yippee on getting your dryer. Now that you are all caught up you'll be able to enjoy it a lot more. Pizza sounds good. I was wanting some junk food last night. Hubby offered to take us out but we came home and had fish instead. I ate way too much of the sides. Ellen..the Swai we were talking about the other day is sometimes sold as Basa or panga but is not either. Heb sells it as: Pangasius. Which is the first part is its scientific name. All our missing in action...miss you guys. ((hugzz)) God bless, Crystle |
More..LOL
Toni...Hey lady we were posting at the same time. Thanks for your kind word about my sweetie. We are night owls also so it makes getting up and getting moving really hard. Last week were we up until after two in the morning. That really throws my days off. Tonight I will probably have to make another loaf of sourdough. Jessie is on his third piece of toast. Aww...to be young and have a racing metabolism. He is tall and skinny. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. Maybe the week will also be great. ((hugzz))

A tip on fruit....
This is informative! We all think eating fruit means just buying fruit, cutting it up and popping it into our mouths. It's not that easy. It's important to know how and when to eat fruit. What's the correct way to eat fruit? IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUIT AFTER A MEAL! FRUIT SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. Eating fruit like that plays a major role in detoxifying your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.. FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread, then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it's prevented from doing so. In the meantime, the whole meal rots and ferments, and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach, and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil. Eat your fruit on an empty stomach, or before your meal! You've heard people complain: Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc. This will not happen if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. Fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas. Hence, you bloat! Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all of these will NOT happen if you eat fruit on an empty stomach. There's no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruit becomes alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruit, you have the Secret of Beauty, Longevity, Health, Energy, Happiness and normal weight. When you need to drink fruit juice drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't drink juice that has been heated. Don't eat cooked fruit; you don't get the nutrients at all. You get only the taste. Cooking destroys all of the vitamins. Eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit-fast to cleanse your body. Eat fruit and drink fruit juice for just 3 days, and you will be surprised when your friends say how radiant you look! KIWI: Tiny but mighty, and a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange! AN APPLE a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C, thereby helping to lower the risk of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke. STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals. 2 - 4 ORANGES oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones, and reduce the risk of colon cancer. WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. Also a key source of lycopene, the cancer-fighting oxidant. Also found in watermelon: Vitamin C & Potassium. GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene, good for your eyes. Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this? For those who like to drink cold water, this applies to you. It's nice to have a cold drink after a meal, however, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you've just consumed, which slows digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal. HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they're asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Be careful, and be aware. The more we know, the better our chance to survive. A cardiologist said if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life. It can even be your life! |
Good morning, everyone! After a night or two that went well, I hit a brick wall on Friday night and I have not recovered from it. In order for the therapy to work, you HAVE to keep your mouth closed. I have found myself breathing through my mouth more and more lately, and am considering going to a mask for the cpap that covers my mouth as well. I think I may be able to get used to it now that I have worn the nasal one for a few nights and can relax with it. I feel like I have jet lag, but I have read on Sleep Apnea forums that this is normal. It may take a few weeks for my body to catch up. All I know is that I am sick and tired of thinking about my breathing.
Eating has been ok, not stellar but nothing really bad. Unfortunately, my blood sugar levels are not responding, and so I feel rather frustrated. My blood pressure levels are a little improved..so I am hanging on to that. I need to wait another week before I get the medical company that oversees my cpap therapy to check my levels and see if I am improving in sleep events. I guess any improvement should be good when you are as bad off as I was. I went to water aerobics yesterday morning. I felt rather wiped out by it, but I was glad I went. Tonight is my oil painting class. I am trying to muster up some enthusiasm for it. I have to carry something over for dinner as Tom is going to meet me there after work. His office is very close to the studio, so it will be nice to spend a few minutes with him before class. COUNTRY: I like that mantra idea...I think mine should be "slow and steady wins the race" :) SOLLY: Eating fruit like that was a big part of the original Sugarbusters. I guess most of us have forgotten that..... That is all I have energy for. If things improve as the day wears on, I will come back. :grouphug: |
Morning ladies:
I had a very busy weekend. Friday night my husband and i went to dinner with friends to celebrate a birthday. Saturday my job had a big fundraiser which is a night of work for me. I got home at 11:45p.m. Sunday was church and a concert. Monday was a day off from work . I worked out last night and I will see what tomorrow brings for weigh-in. Solly- I hope you feel better soon. I also remember from the sugarbusters book hat you should eat fruit at least an hour before meals or something like that. Country- Enjoy the nice weather you are having. We are suppose to get to the mid 50's this week. Ellen- I pray you get some much need rest. Not getting enough sleep affect so many things in our life. Toni- I spent all yesterday washing since I wasn't home all weekend. Hope you got caught up. I have one load left. I use to be a terrible night owl. Now I try to get to bed by 11:00pm. (that is early for me) LOL Have a great day ladies. I am pooped and back to work. |
Good afternoon
Thanks for the fruit tips Solly. Great reminder. I'm not a good fruit eater. I love veggie and I don't dislike fruit I just don't reach for it. Eating has been on the mostly healthy side but way too large of portions. I pushed away part of my breakfast this morning. I told hubby I have got to get in the habit of quitting when I'm full not finishing just because it taste so good. That is so hard I love love love food. :D
Ellen...I hope you get good results when you get retested. Praying that you begin to get sweet sleep that is restorative and refreshing. Merce...glad your weather is starting to warm up also. I think it really helps our energy levels. Toni...hope you are having a super day. ((Everybody)) Email Tip: Visit Your Co-workers in Person In the age of instant messenger and email, it's become almost commonplace to spend the entire day at your desk. When you need to speak with a co-worker, modern technology has made it so that you never have to leave your seat. Before you fire off an IM or pick up that phone, why not walk down the hall or up the stairs and talk to that person face to face? This will give you an opportunity to stretch and also burn a few calories in the interim. Love and hugs, Crystle |
Hello all. Getting started late today. Just ate a small grilled cheese sand. on rye bread for lunch and a late breakfast. It rained here hard last night.
Solly- I think the tip on the fruit is great. It really made me think about when I eat fruit. Thanks for printing it. Crystle- I have so much trouble with portion control. Be glad when my new scale gets here. Ellen- Oh my gosh I have trouble mouth breathing too. I can't imagine what you're going through. I hope it works out soon for you. So you can get some regular sleep. Mercee-Wow you've been a busy bee. You need some rest. LOL Got to run. Enjoy the day. |
Good afternoon ladies,
Just geting here as we had a bid going in. Well my treadmill is sitting in my dining room. 4 men could not get it downstairs. It doesn't fit. I can't believe it. Now they want $150.00 to gome out and take it down and put it dowstairs and then back together. My DH may know someone that can do that. Geez. I did get a good mile walk in last night. It is supposed to rain here soon. Plus we have to go to the funeral home again. My Son-in-law's grandma passed away. He was very close her. Ellen, I sure hope you can get some quality sleep tonight and get that mask situated once and for all. Sweet dreams. Mercee, Sounds like you had one busy weekend. I'm sure you got lots of exercise with all that running around. Toni, it hasn't started raining here yet, but it is getting more and more cloudier. Crystle, I like most fruits, but I'm lke you, I don't reach for them. Now I am not a BIG veggie eater. I'm also like you with eating what's in front of me. I see it, I think I should eat it all. OK I'm worn out today and still have a full night ahead of me. Hopefully I will be on early before I go to the funeral. Have a great night. |
Good morning, a quick check in before I have to leave for the funeral.
I really liked what I weighed this morning. 183-184. After the shock I got off and realized someone had messed up the scale. i keep it set up 7 lbs. When i weighed at the gym I was always 7 lbs different from mine so I figured mine was wrong. So I added 4 lbs to 188. That makes me down 3 lbs. I don't see how, but I will take it. We had the baby all night and I had to get him off to daycare today. So I am worn out before my day started. Hopefully tonight I will have time to walk on the :tread: Hope everyone has great results on the metal monster. I will check in later. |
