Good afternoon

Howdy ya'll. It is beautiful outside. I'm hoping to get motivated and take a walk this afternoon. It was just too muddy yesterday. My laziness this winter is not my typical behavior. I think getting to the root of it will help me be more committed to walking and moving in general. I'm making some sourdough bread today with walnuts. The mill wouldn't work with the nuts so I just cut them in bits. It ought to be nice to get bits of nuts in each bite. Not sure what dinner is going to be. Thinking of cooking some fish, zucchini and one other thing maybe potato salad made with lite mayo.

Daily email tip:
Fill Up On Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Many people are unaware of the awesome powers of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are largely found in coldwater fish such as salmon, herring, mackerel and sardines. Flax and flax oil are the most popular botanical sources of omega-3. There are other sources of omega-3. However, it's important to understand why omega-3 fatty acids are so important to your heath. These polyunsaturated fatty acids found in oily fish and vegetable sources are only available through food. In other words, they can't be processed by the body. Consuming the recommended amount of omega-3 fatty acids is important to maintaining heart health, preventing cancer and other health-enhancing properties.

I just found out yesterday that Omega-3 fatty acids are heat sensitive so I'm going to be careful to not over cook my fish and add my ground flax seed after the food is done.

Toni..hey lady. Thanks for your encouragement. It's so hard to be battling the same weight all over again. At times I just want to not worry about it at all. I've been over weight my whole life except when I'm starving myself and I really don't want to go that route again. Doing it right is taking SO much longer and any little slip up seems to undo all the good. Being 45 doesn't help much. It seems like my waist is thicker and weight likes to stick around more than in my 30's. But no whines. We just gotta stick to our guns and be healthy, right? :)

Mercee...hope you feel better today. ((hugzz))

Ellen..Praying your get your machine in time to save the money. Awesome on the good blood pressure. We have been working on trying to bring down Roberts and it seems to be working. I think being able to get off all of the medicines for his finger is going to help a lot.

Solly...hope you aren't working too hard today and are feeling better.

Tech...I hope they don't close your park. We have several state parks and they are a great get away in the summer that doesn't cost too much and offer some super outdoor activities for kids that may not get outdoors otherwise. You would think the state would encourage tourism to their state parks as a way to make money to keep the parks open.

HappyNow..I know you said you peek in so I want to make sure and let you know we are thinking about you and looking forward to when you post again. When someone is missing the board is lacking. Everybody adds a little flavor. :)

NurseDee...Where or where are you? Busy with schooling the kiddos? Hope you are feeling better and coming back soon. You have the gift of encouragement.

Beth..what happened? Come back.

Bob...you tease us with coming back and hid again...COME BACK ((hugzz))

Scrappinhut...are you still around? Come visit.

Well, I need to facebook and then get my tooty off of this thing. If I am not careful hours are gone before I know it.

((Everybody)) Remember, it is about being strong and healthy. We all want good enjoyable lives and that starts with a happy healthy body. There is no such thing as failure because we are going to keep on keeping on.

God bless,
Crystle

Feeling good

Howdy again. It is so quiet in here. I'm not sure if I should post or wait until there are some other posts. I feel like a board hog....snort snort..LOL :) Just came in from a wonderful walk. It's only 58 but it doesn't feel cold at all after all the colder days. Wrapped my sweater around my waist rolled up my sleeves and walked at a pretty fast clip. My friends little girl walked with me and chatted making time fly. She did have to take one pet the cat break and one break to catch her breath. Not bad at all considering she is 7 and I walked two miles. It is amazing the ways that God smiles on us and blesses our days.

The walnut sour dough came out wonderful. Very tasty and the little chewy bits are nice. I need to eat lunch but it is getting late. I may just snack on some fruit and eat a nice dinner.

We are worth every effort that we put in and worth every effort we let slip by.

((Everybody))

God bless,
Crystle

Mercee 02-25-2010 04:19 PM

Hey Crystle- Glad you enjoyed your walk. You sound like me yesterday. I felt crazy posting because no one else hardly posted. LOL

CountryMom4Him 02-25-2010 08:34 PM

Stuffed

I am stuffed but it is a good stuffed. We had fish, zucchini and potato salad and a fresh salsa. :)

As much as I like to hear myself talk and admire my vast writing skills...not..LOL I sure wish I knew how to get more dialogue on the board. You ladies are so funny and encouraging. I can't get enough. :) Does that make me greedy? Part of my addictive personality?

All silliness aside I really do enjoy conversing with ya'll.

Mercee..Thank you. There was something about getting outside that really lifted my spirits. It even motivated me to plant some seeds for next month. I can't believe it's almost that time. In two to three weeks I'll have my spring garden planted if it stays dry enough to till. Right now it's a bit wet. My son Jessie planted the potatoes for me yesterday. We could get them planted because we actually plant them on top of the ground and cover them with hay. Hope you are having a nice evening.

((Everybody)) You all ROCK!

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Toni48 02-25-2010 09:59 PM

Dinner was good I made pork steaks with barbecue sauce in the oven tonight. I had it with slaw. It was so good. We've got a mess in the house getting ready for our stuff to be delivered. Our place is small and we had to move lots of the things around.

Crystle- sounds like you've had such a wonderful day. Your walk sounds so refreshing. I can't believe you got your potatoes planted. Its yet so cold here. The bread sounds so yummy. I made a loaf of whole wheat and flax bread a couple days ago and it looks so beautiful but I'm not crazy about how it tastes.

Mercee- How are you feeling?

CountryMom4Him 02-26-2010 10:38 AM

Good Morning

Howdy :) Just finished breakfast. It was a fried egg on walnut sour dough with a piece of fat free cheese. I like to toast the bread in a pan with olive oil...yum yum. The rain is moving in again so probably no walking. On a good note I get to see little man and he is 17 pounds so it's like toting a weight around. :)

Love today's tip since I can be speed racer when it comes to eating sometimes.

Chew, Chew Training
Chewing your food is the first step in the all-important digestion process. In order to digest food properly, your food must be broken down into a liquid form before it's swallowed. When you don't get the job done, large food particles that haven't been digested make an appearance in the stool. One expert actually encouraged that individuals chew 100 times before swallowing. While you don't need to go to that great length, it is important to chew your food in the name of better digestion.

Hope everyone is having a SUPER day. ((hugzz))

Well, the rain came before I even finished typing this. It's raining cats and dogs out there. It wouldn't be so bad if the driveway wasn't already so muddy. Awww country life. :) Wouldn't change it just gotta whine from time to time.

Toni...hope you have a blast with your new washer and dryer. It makes it so much easier to do our chores with good appliances. And I did have a super day yesterday. :carrot: Wish I could carry that good attitude with me everyday. Like the saying goes: Too blessed to be stressed.

Gotta get movin'.

God bless,
Crystle

Toni48 02-26-2010 10:49 AM

Morning Ladies. Just getting started around here. I'm just finishing up my coffee then off to make oatmeal.

Crystle- Have a good day playing with your Grandson. Its muddy here to, hope the rain stays away.

Talk to you all later.

Solly 02-26-2010 11:21 AM

Morning ladies. I am sick. I had to leave work yestrday and I hit the bed. I thought sure I would feel better today, but I don't. I am dizzy, nausus, and have a horrible headache. My cough is better, but I feel like crap. So I am at home again. I don't think I have ever missed 1 1/2 days of work in 37 years. I guess I am getting old. I'm glad I got online though, you all are so encouraging and doing so well. I really wanted to get back on track this week with eating and exercising but it is not happening. I've had some ww toast this morning and hot tea. My DD brought me some potato soup last night, but I was not up to eating it, so I guess that will be my lunch. I am supposed to work our fish fry tonight, but I am going to have to feel a lot better and tomorrow we are supposed to work a soup kitchen and I don't want to miss that. I get so much out of it. We are hoping to take some leftover food from this fish fry to them. We usually have lots of mac and cheese left and they could really use it. Surely tomorrow I will be better.

Ellen, what a great job you are doing. Your BP is great you are losing wt too. Hope you get your mask. I totally understand about getting everything in before you start over on your deductible. Keep pushing them.

Mercee, I sure hope you are not coming down with something. Sick really sucks. I am not used to this. I can't believe you did not walk on the :tread:, but sometimes we have to listen to our bodies. I'm sure you will be back walking by now.

Crystle, you are not a board hog. I love reading your posts. I'm glad that Robert's BP is getting better and he is getting off his meds. WTG getting such a good walk. What a sweet child walking with you and entertaining you. I think my GS weighs about the same as yours or a little more. Poor thing has an eye infection now and I am missing him so much, but I don't want him to get what I have either. Funny you have had 2 snow falls. I envy your warm temps.

Toni, have you got your washer & dryer yet? I bet you will love it. Are they front loaders? I need to get up and start some wash. I think I could do that. It is a beautiful sunny day here, cold but sunny. Unfortuntately they are calling for more snow this weekend. I sure hope this is the end of it.

Think I will jump off and look for some lunch. Maybe I will muster up some strength to dust. I get so board. Maybe I will get a book or something. Hope to check back sometime this weekend.

Mercee 02-26-2010 12:21 PM

Hello Ladies:

Busy day at work but I wanted to drop in and see how you're doing. I am feeling much better . The problem was I had to change my meds my glucose was getting to low. (What a change) from all the exercising I am doing. ( I did this per Dr.'s order) I hope in a few months if I keep it up I will be off meds. I guess I am moving in the right direction. I'm back to walking tonight. Yippee!! I feel like I am walking toward my health it is not just about the weight.

Solly- I hope you are feeling better soon. Please take care of yourself.

Crystle- I'm hope you enjoy your visit with you 17 lb. man. LOL

Toni- I hope you enjoy your new washer and dryer. Your dinner sounded good last night.

Gotta go. Have a great day everyone.

Ellen 02-26-2010 11:16 PM

I apologize for dropping off for a few days. I have just been at the end of my rope and not dealing well with stuff. I found out my insurance company is really uptight about the cpap machine. They have to review all the tests results and decide if the doctor is overreacting before they will approve it. I don't understand. Its not like folks are all eager to have a machine to use. No one wants it...even if they NEED it. They told me it would take four to seven business days to be approved! My husband wrote HR and told them he thought it was unacceptable. They actually are doing things to speed it up, but its too late to get it in before the deductible changes. I can't believe it worked out to be just a day or two too late! Grrrr. I now officially HATE my insurance company. They are the ONLY one that does this, according to the sleep doctor's coordinator. She had to send me to the one company they will accept that she really does not like working with because of poor service.

I went to water aerobics boot camp this morning. It was pretty good. The workout was great, but I am not sure I will go again. It costs more than the other classes, and I did not feel like it was something I could not do on my own. I can go anytime I want for $2 - and the regular classes cost $2, but boot camp is $5.

Tom and I went out for dinner tonight. I think I may have gotten some gluten in a gravy that was on the tamale Tom shared with me. I feel bloated, and very blah. I had two tacos and beans. And I ate some chips. Bad me! Their salsa was awesome.

I think I will head to bed. Well, not bed exactly. I have been sleeping in the recliner because I breathe better sitting up. I will be glad when I get the machine and get back to normal...

Oh, and I finally weighed after lunch today. I was up four pounds! :o I think it was because it was later, etc. etc. I actually weighed less on the doctor's scale when I went in for my lab results this afternoon. So, I am not going to claim a gain until I weigh in under the same conditions as I did last week.....

I had intended to do replies, but I am so tired right now, I can't. :grouphug: Will try tomorrow...

CountryMom4Him 02-27-2010 12:28 AM

Good evening

We just got in a bit ago and I'm wiped. Fixed dinner for hubby, cleaned the dishes, set up things for the morning and started some bread for tomorrow. I had a blast with little man. Hopefully tomorrow I will play with his pictures and get some uploaded to my facebook.

Solly..I am so sorry that you are feeling so poorly. Praying tomorrow is a new day and your strength and vigor is restored so you can help at the kitchen. ((hugzz)) Too cool your little man and mine are about the same size. Is yours teething yet? Mav is one drooly little man..LOL

Ellen...Gotta love insurance..errr They can be such a pain sometimes. I'm sure when you weight in the morning before eating you'll find that you've actually lost some weight.

Mercee..WTG on lowering your blood sugar.

((Everybody)) My PJ's are calling my name.

Good night and God bless,
Crystle

Good afternoon

Howdy. Not a lot going on. Just finished shooting with my honey. He is teaching me. :) Breakfast was another fried egg sandwich. I think tomorrow I will switch it up a bit.

I forgot to take something out for dinner so I better get on that. :)

((Everybody)) Hope you are having a great day.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

hi everyone,

finally feeling better after over 2 weeks of coughing and wheezing. went shopping with my 17 year old (just shoot me now!) on thursday , then out to dinner and a movie with my manfriend (we're too old to call him a boyfriend!) on friday. he had gotten me a box of sugar free chocolates for valentines, how sweet or rather unsweet! and i enjoyed the movie without buttery popcorn or my favorites, peanut m&m's.

in spite of eating comfort foods, soups, chicken and rice casseroles, some ice cream treats i did manage to stay the same on the scale. at old navy on thursday i fit into a pair of regular size 16 jeans! the last time i was a regular 16 and not a plus size in the big girls department was probably in 1985? yikes, look how much time i have wasted not eating right.....

hope everyone is doing well, and for those of you who are also diabetic, sugar free robitussin and sf halls cough drops were my friends for the last few weeks!

stay warm, waiting for some nice weather...

chris

how do i put a weight tracker on my profile? i am computer challenged!

Ellen 02-28-2010 09:45 PM

Hello everyone! The weekend has not been very restful. Tom decided he wanted to get a bunch of stuff done, and of course it involved me doing things. I just dragged all weekend. Hopefully once I get my sleep problems taken care of I can get more done. Funny how I coped so well before I knew there was some thing wrong with me...and now I just can't handle as much! Still no machine. I am hoping we get all the insurance stuff resolved tomorrow...

Eating has been good. Today I made a low carb crockpot dish- Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic. It was wonderful, but now the garlic is talking back... :)

Trader Joes had some new 85% dark chocolate in...oh MY! I am in love!

HAPPY: I think you have to have a certain number of posts before you can put a tracker in...but it is under User CP at the top of the page.
