HI GALS ~

Just having my , finished the sports pages. Angie and I were going out for breakfast but she decided since we went out Thursday night for my "free" birthday dinner and we had take-out mexican food last night, maybe we should "back off" from the extra calories (she means ME! )

Work is picking up for me, had 3 pretty good days last week and next week should be decent. Here in construction you just never know, it is usually pretty good, but we do hit "slows" in the economy like everyone else. Luckily, the slow periods don't hurt me as bad as some of my friends, I can miss a few days from time to time without much financial strain, some of them can't. Of course any time off for too long can "spank" me pretty good too We have 2 big projects coming up soon, delays from rain has hurt the schedule a little. Normal stuff.

My son and his wife have been getting advice from us on a situation that has come up in their lives. Tough times are starting for some people with the economy and my dil's mom and dad have been hit by the drop in home loans. They are on the verge of losing their home...sad for them...but they want to know if the kids want to take it over. It is a nice track home but needs some work, mostly cosmetic stuff. It is in a nice area close to the beach so you get that "ocean smell and breeze". The BIG problem is that it is over a half million dollars (like all track homes in our area) It has actually dropped in "value" like most homes around here too in the last year, but there is still some equity in it. I think it is a good idea...but...it's hard to "sell" your kids on house payments of $2,500 a month! They really want to do it...I just want them to really "think" it through. That is a big chunk of their money each month to southern California

I just wonder...if they will be able to afford the "grandkids" that I have planned!

Angie has bell practice this morning then we will go to church tonight since she plays during service. She is out walking the dogs, an easy half hour for her training, yesterday was a 2 miler with them. She is running a 5K tomorrow, I will probably go watch...no training here for me...boy is she

ROSEBUD ~ Thank you for the work prayers. You need to get yourself a digital camera, then you can save them in the computer, print them off the disk and even post them for us. I had fish and chips for my free dinner at the IRISH PUB Keep up the walking

AUNT SUE ~ I am really trying to send the it is just so hard with the increase in postage rates coming As I posted to Rosebud, I had fish and chips. Angie usually makes corned beef and cabbage for for St. Patrick's Day...the only time we have it during the year. Have a GREAT time with Kristie this week-end...SHOP til you DROP! if that's what you gals do P.S. I won't mention it..but it is supposed to be 70 to 80 degrees here this week-end...sorry...but hey! come for a visit!

KELLIA ~

HAEYU14~ Do you have a name you would like to share with us? Or did I miss it? AH ~ those 5th graders! I remember when Angie used to teach them years ago...she had to "move up?" to 6th graders...after she went to 8th graders (she hated that!...brats!) she says, for her, 6th is best. Enjoy your time with your sister and if you blow it on your points...just shake it off and jump back on! One day is not a big deal! in the big picture.

WILMA ~ Sorry to hear your nose is red Years ago, 1968, the barbershop my dad went to (I NEVER! CUT MY HAIR back then ) hired a women to cut hair, now my dad usually had his hair "normal" lentgh in the winter, then did the flat top thing for the summer, well he started to get his haircut OFTEN because of the massage this gal did on his head! I remember he would pay my sister $$$ just to comb his hair over and over while he sat in his recliner. She did it for years until he passed away... he just loved it. I had a great birthday. Can't wait to see pics of the new "do" curly

Well, I guess I didn't share my birthday gifts with you...must have left that over in General Chatter somewhere...if you ever venture over there you may see a different side of me..maybe not so good! But you know me, I just like to have fun. But boy it sure shows how much I need church!!

Last Sunday the kids came over for dinner, Angie made one of my favorite easy dinners. Grilled chicken breasts on good buns with lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheddar cheese, guacamole and honey mustard dressing...I just love those sandwiches. Then as I mentioned we went to the pub for the ~ free week of your birthday Thursday ~ dinner. I had fish and chips and Angie got a guacamole burger. Ryan and Nicole gave me a book on USC Football, Amanda and Zac gave me some of my favorite rootbeer and an assortment of popcorn and Angie bought me an mp3 player and a box set of George Strait CD's...I had an awesome birthday. All my 3FC friends here in Christian Encouragers and General Chatter really made it special!

Have a great week-end! WORSHIP ~ where you can!

Talking Great News ! !

Just wanted to bop in and say 'hi' especially to all the newbies, - boy this thread has really picked up, I've been reading here and there as I can, haven't had a chance to post but this am had three pages to catch up on !!! Glad to hear everyone is doing well, for the most part as we all seem to have a few aches and pain, colds, etc. Loved the pics EZ & Sue, keep 'em coming. When I find the disk to our digital I'll try to post a few myself.

Well the Great News is that I GOT THE JOB!!! I left my previous employment at 9-1-1 last Monday and began the new job on Tuesday. I am the deputy clerk-treasurer of the county library system and it's GREAT!!! Learning a lot of new stuff this week, back to good hours (7:30 - 4:00 monday thru friday, no weekends, holidays, midnights, etc.), some great co-workers and my boss is a wonderful man, retired from the school system and overflowing with information. I actually took his job as he moved up and he want me to learn it ASAP as he needs a vacation in a real bad way! Kept my retirement benefits, health, vacation, sick, you know all that and also a nice little raise. Maybe I'll be able to quit the 2nd job (EZ - better get that pizza order in just in case!), although the pizza joint has been real good to me letting me work whenever and whatever hours I can. At the library there's a lot of work, paying bills one week and doing payroll the next (55 employees), room to move up and can stay there until I retire!! I Love It !!!

Weather here is strange this week, had a day in the upper 50's, now this am woke up and there's about an inch of snow on the ground. Also had crocuses (sp?) blooming yesterday and LOTS of perennials poking their heads out of the ground. Now the bird feeders are full of my feathered friends looking for some grubb during the snow.

Keep posting, and I'll try to catch up more soon. Prayers are coming at ya! Hugs & prayers - Margie

Default Good Morning!

It is absolutely freezing here today. Manitoba has the most erratic temperatures! It's -30C here today and it's supposed to be 4C by Thursday. Spring can't come fast enough! Gary, you asked what kind of flowers I plant. I usually do the most hardy in our climate. I love petunias and snapdragons. I do a few little post with other types. I found a small climber called Purple Bells which I love and try to find a flower that matches it in colour. right now it's hard to imagine flowers anywhere. We have 3 feet of snow in the back yard!!

Margie: So good to hear from you again. Congratulations on the job! It sounds ideal for you and the hours are perfect!

Rosebud: WTG with the walking! You'll increase your time as you get more fit.

Sue: Hope you had a good weekend with Kristie.

Kellia: Welcome here! You're going to find a great bunch of people here. Very supportive!

Time to get out in that cold. Have a great day!

Default Good Afternoon ... all!

Hi Everyone: Seems like I have been so busy lately; but we've been staying in (cocooning) cuz of the terrible cold and storms here. My pc has been acting up; not catching all those darn tribalfusion spams ... man, are they annoying or what? Gonna have to have a talk with my spam-fighting programs ... they're not doing their job right!

100 PERCENT ME ... do you have a little nickname that you would like us to call you? When I put in my moniker, I had no idea that I would have to enter it everytime I came in (wished I had made it shorter) LOL! I tried to use Rosebud, but it was taken already.

MARGB ... congrats on that great job at the library; sounds fab!
SUE ... glad everything's going well for you; enjoy your little trip.
WILMA ... feel for ya; we have the same problem here ... brrrrrrrr!!!
GARY ... nice long post there; every now and then I see ya, when you're posting in the other forums I do the same; plus a little lurking too!
HAEYU & KELLI ... hope to see you post a little more ...

Staying OP pretty good; but, my walking and my informal exercise program is going much better thanks to Heather's March Madness Exercise thread. I have added back my CHAIR AEROBICS (for those with leg/knee problems), hand-weights, walking, RTM's (for stretching and toning). Heather says heavy housework counts too!

Just wanted to check in; gotta go get dinner on; so, take care all and have a great week ~ your fellow encourager ... Rosebud.

Hi there. I feel like I've been gone for ages instead of a couple days. I probably forgot to share my name. Sorry, Gary... My name is Lena.

My sister is currently here, and actually is here at school with me too. I think I'm doing okay staying on track. I don't remember if I shared on this thread or not that I am a little concerned about keeping on my eatting/exercise plan while she's here. I need to amp up the exercise a little, but the eatting is doing okay. I'm even introducing my sister to healthier meal ideas. She loved my banana wrap so much that she's planning on making them at school to eat between classes.

I'll be out tomorrow, back on friday, then gone again until monday. (grrr not having internet at the house).

Take care everyone. And to those of you still in a snow filled area... you have my condolences. It's still a little cool here too... we're only predicted to get mid 70's today. Tomorrow when the sis and I go to epcot it's supposed to be upper 70's so I'll probably end up with a sunburn.

Cool It's Wonderful Wednesday ...

Hi Everybody ... nice to hear from everyone again; now we know Haeyu's name is LENA. I didn't realize that you don't have the internet at home; that does make it more difficult, but every other day or few days is good too. Seems everybody is kinda busy right now; that's good for March.

Re: EXERCISE THREAD ... we predict how many minutes of exercise we think we can do for the month; and then we try to match or beat it. Since it's my first try, I'm going for 373 total. As of yesterday, was already a third way there. LENA, maybe you would like to try it??? BTW, how do you make those banana wraps???

Living in Florida and California does have it's advantages ... no snow and warm weather even in March ... you lucky ducks! It's during these months that Vancouver looks really appealing ... but it's so far away.

SUE ~ have fun on your trip
WILMA ~ have a nice week
GARY ~ glad work is going OK
KELLI & 100% ~ hope all is well; come back soon
LENA ~ see ya Friday ...
MARGB ~ have a good week at your new job
REBAR ~ hope you are well; and you're in my prayers

Oh ya ... daylight savings time begins this weekend; clock's forward in spring ~ thanx Sue. That's great; means another hour of daylight and beautiful sunshine; which we've been lucky enough to have for the last two days ... yeah!!!

Well, not much news here right now; once again, gotta go and get dinner on, cuz I wanna keep DH happy and healthy. So, take care all ~ your fellow encourager ... Rosebud.

Cool Had a Thrilling Thursday ...

Hi everyone ... was another beautiful, sunny day; although there were some cold winds. Went to town for our weekly shopping day, lunch out (it was healthy ~ not to worry); and picked up some ski poles to try a new activity called " SKI-WALKING".

Heard about it on the net somewhere; well, I went for 50 minutes and loved it. It's very easy cuz you don't need skis or special boots or anything; just the poles which give you stability and momentum. It sure gives a work-out to your arms though. I think I might just pay tomorrow for a little too much enthusiasm; but just the same, I really liked it. I used to do cross-country when I was younger and slimmer; now I get the same feel without hurting myself ~ LOL!

REBA ~ sorry to hear you have to have surgery; but will be praying for you all the way through it. I always thought that there was a longer recovery from gallbladder surgery than 3 days; but every situation is different, I guess; and they sure are changing how they do things these days; so, God Bless ...

Well, had a very exhausting day; gonna flop into bed tonight, and will sleep well too, no doubt. Take care everyone; you're in my prayers, as always ~ your fellow encourager ... Rosebud.

Well... I put my sister on the plane home this morning. It was nice having her here and we did lots of fun things... but I'm a little afraid of weigh in on sunday. I just feel like I didn't do very well, even though I know I did well with my food. (except for the 1/4 of a strawberry shortcake at strawberry festival... but that was a special event) I guess we'll see.

Rosebud... Banana wraps are such a fun snack/meal! You take a med. tortilla (about 8 in across I think) and cover it with peanut butter. Then you put two or 3 leaves of lettuce (I use iceburg b/c it's crunchy). then you wrap the entire thing around a banana. then you enjoy! It's a protein, a fruit, a vegetable, and a carb, and is very filling. I can go 3 hrs w/o having to eat anything else.

Where do I find the exercise thread? And how do we estimate? Is it the time we're putting in? Or the amount of times we go out? I need more details.

I'll check in w/ everyone on monday w/ an update on the weigh in.
