  • Confused. . .
Confused might not even be the right word, as you may know, I work Monday thru Friday, 8-4 as a 9-1-1 dispatcher. Mostly I do admin work, scheduling, payroll, homeland security, those types of duties. Also DD goes to school 8 blocks away, 8-2:30, so works out pretty good right?? Well today my boss comes in and tells me I'm getting 'moved' to dispatch/40 hrs week. Still okay right but I have to 'fill in' open positions due to the union contract as no one else is being 'moved' which basically means I have to now take the part-time shifts which consist of Friday thru Monday (I'll be working all weekends) and still have to do a 'double' somewhere to make the 40 hours. My boss says he will work with me to fill the shifts I want due to my seniority but there's no way I guess around the weekend stuff and the double shift. . . I don't know, still trying to work-it out in my head (thus confused). Still will bring DD here Tuesday thru Thursday for school, which means I will actually be driving 7 days a week, twice a day for 3 of those days and no 'day-off' to sleep in or just lounge around with a nice !!! Suppose to be 'streamlining' according to the 'powers that be' but I don't know. . . I'm just confused, somewhat upset, aggravated, - let's see what other words I can fit in here. . .and this job doesn't even pay enough to keep the lights on! (hence the 2nd job I recently took) but there are NO jobs in this county, no industry, etc. It sucks, - would like to know where Pres. Bush is looking when he says the economy is doing good, - well not here! Just remember me. . .

Anna - Welcome. Sounds like you've got a good starting place with the Lord. I, like Sue, am single so I'll not try to give you advice but EZ and Wilma sure seem right-on, the only thing I might add is "LISTEN", I mean really listen, most of us don't, not only to your spouse but for God's guidance for you both, prayers for you dear. . .

Sue - Glad to see you're back. Has your surgery been scheduled? Maybe it's all for the best with the promotion, etc. as you said, you wouldn't want to be off that long after just starting in a new position, - not that you couldn't, - it would just be hard for everyone I'm sure. By the way, - are we getting pictures???

Wilma - I'm so glad you enjoyed your time off and it does only take a few hours back to work to wish you had more!! I don't have any time off scheduled until mid-April, no plans, just spring break for DD and thought I would spend a few days with her, - now due to change of schedule it might be days I'm off anyway. . . who knows???

EZ - We have had it going back and forth pretty good over football I guess. What predictions have you heard for this weekend? Mostly I've heard Saints over Bears due to the 'surge' they're on with getting over Katrina, back on the home field, etc., although some have said Bears have the better special teams and defense which will take them through. Haven't heard much talk on the Colts and Pats, most everyone here loves the Pats due to Troy Brown (Marshall grad) even though they've made the trip several times recently. . . . I guess we'll just have to wait until Sunday now won't we????

Gotta fly, just nice knowing you guys are here, had to talk to someone, - hope everyone is having a great day. "This is a day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Hugs & prayers - Margie
  • Hi there!
Thanks Margie! I am scheduled for surgery on 6/6/07 I start medifast (protein shake ) on 2/12 and last time I talked to surgeon he said it would be 450 calories a day... no food. That will be fun but will be worth it in the end... I still have to get my pics developed but I will post some from vacation as soon as I can.. I plan On doing a before pic and doing a journal as I go through the process. I am hoping if I loose fast enough he will move my surgery date up. If not means I will be off for almost all of june and july...
The bummer with the job was its a big raise in pay about $10,000 on base, and I am more qualified then the person who was promoted. I really feel it was because of the surgery but I did ask the Lord to with hold it if it was not were he wanted me, so there must be a better reason then I know as to why... maybe just so I can relax well recovering, because I have awsome staff and everything will be fine while I am out in my current position. He does know best. Prayers that your position goes back to what it was, bummer working every weekend, and no real days off. Not to mention being forced to do a double- know what that is like because if we have a call in sometimes it results in mandatory overtime coverage when voluntary coverage cannot be found. Prayers!!! Well going to go watch the tube.. have an awesome day hi to everyone else...
  • It's Saturday morning and I'm up before 8:00. What's up with that? DH had a men's breakfast to go to and he is in charge of the food so he was a little nervous about that. He's not an expert like Gary is!! Anyway, he's off for the morning and the DS is going to be going soon too. I have the house to myself for the whole morning. What will I do? I think I'm going to do my crossword puzzle and watch my favorite Saturday TV show. Then I just might clean my new bathroom. I found a recipe that is supposed to be exactly like the Suppe Tosacana made at Olive Garden and I'm going to try that today.

I trust eveyone is doing well. I am eating better these days and actually find time to exercise once in a while. My challenge with DH seems to have dwindled away. He works such long hours and has not the time to exercise.

Well, off to get my coffee. Have a wonderful weekend!
  • Hey Wilma,
You'll have to let us know how that recipe turns out and share! I have a recipe for Olive Garden Pasta Fagioli... not sure if it tastes like theirs since I've never eaten it there...but it's yummy!!! In fact, I'll be making some for a ladies night out fellowship at my house Tuesday night (will make it tomorrow because it's better after a day or so...).... it's soup and salad night.... yum!

  • HI LADIES

I am laying low right now so I don't say anything stupid. Amanda is having her make-up done here at the house by a gal. She is having her engagement pictures done today at the beach in La Jolla. If she likes what the girl is doing then she will use her for the wedding with her and the bridesmaids. My sister in law is doing my ex-wifes hair, the girls (my girls Angie, Amanda and Lara) also have their own person, but with all the girls and ladies needing "ATTENTION" that morning the job has to be split up. I just don't want to be asked my opinion and say the wrong thing!! If you know what I mean...I just took a peek and she is GORGEOUS!! I will try to get Angie to take a picture. The sun is just starting to peek out, so it should be pretty on the coast.

Angie and I went for breakfast this morning with her ex and Lara. Lara heads back to New York today for her second semester. Amanda starts her second semester of her graduate school on Monday, her bosses have been so cool about her schooling. One day a week she goes to work from 6-9...then school then back to work from 3-5...they told her last week to just work from home on that day...way cool for her.

gotta go....that "BOY" is here to pick her up and they need the computer for mapquest..........be back tonight.
  • I'm back. Angie went for a massage while I took a nap during a basketball game. We went looking at Lowes this afternoon for lights that will work when we finish the shuffleboard court, did some supply shopping at Staples then over to Chili's for dinner. Of course Ryan and Nicole came by while we were gone, they are starting to figure out that even though we are always home...they should call to make sure! the mutts were happy to see them though.

WILMA~ IT IS STARTING TO WARM UP HERE, SURE WAS BRUTAL FOR MOST OF THE WEEK... STOP LAUGHING IN THE 30'S IS COLD FOR US!! SORRY ABOUT THE CHALLENGE, SEEMS TO GO THAT WAY FOR ME TOO. I AM FINE WITH A PROGRAM OF EXERCISE AS LONG A I AM SLOW AT WORK OR HAVE NOTHING TO DO IN THE AFTERNOONS! FORGET ABOUT THAT "EXTRA EFFORT"...NOT HAPPENING HERE! THE SOUP SOUNDS GOOD. WE WENT TO SOUP PLANTATION LAST NIGHT, CALLED FRESH TOMATOES IN OTHER STATES I THINK, JUST LOVE THEIR CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP BUT I HAVE NEVER FOUND A COPY CAT RECIPE OF IT. SOOO GOOD! YEP! I'M YOUR GUY FOR BREAKFAST IF YOU LIKE RUNNY EGGS AND BURNT TOAST! I AM SURE YOUR HUSBAND DID FINE, HE HAS THE BIG GUY ON HIS SIDE! ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR WEEK-END.

REBA~ WE LIKE OLIVE GARDEN ALSO. I ALWAYS SWITCH IT UP WHEN I AM THERE, NEVER THE SAME MEAL. WE DON'T GO OFTEN THOUGH BECAUSE WE HAVE OUR "OWN" LITTLE ITALIAN PLACE WE REALLY LIKE. ENJOY YOUR WOMENS FELLOWSHIP MEETING.

AUNT SUE~ LOVE TO HAVE PICTURES OF THE BEFORE AND AFTER. YOU ARE GOING TO BE FINE. SORRY ABOUT THE PAY DIFFERENCE, THAT IS A LOT OF CASHOLA...BUT AS WE SAID...AND AS HARD AS IT IS FOR US TO UNDERSTAND, HE DOES KNOW BEST. MAYBE ANOTHER TIME WILL BE BETTER FOR THAT JOB...OR EVEN A BETTER ONE! AS CHRISTIANS WE KNOW IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY...BUT...I KNOW THAT I ALWAYS COULD USE A LITTLE MORE I SENT SOME SUNSHINE BACK WITH LARA ON THE PLANE TODAY, YOU SHOULD HAVE IT BY TOMORROW! GO AHEAD AND SENT THE EXTRA UP TO WILMA

MARGIE ~ MAN THAT REALLY STINKS ABOUT THE JOB HOURS. THEY DO SOUND CONFUSING, SO HARD TO SCHEDULE WITH KIDS TOO AND THEIR SCHOOL, DANCES, SPORTS, ETC. I CALLED IN THE OTHER NIGHT FOR PIZZA, HAD A BIG TIP FOR YOU ALSO, GUESS YOU NEVER GOT THE MESSAGE. I WILL PRAY FOR THE RIGHT JOB AND HOURS TO WORK OUT FOR YOU...WE SHOULD ALL GET TOGETHER FOR YOU AND SUE...MAYBE WE COULD START OUR OWN BUSINESS! WILMA COULD BE IN CHARGE, I HEAR SHE IS PRETTY BOSSY!
I AM GOING TO ROOT FOR YOUR BEARS TOMORROW, JUST NOT SURE IF THEY HAVE ENOUGH TO OVERCOME THE KATRINA FACTOR AND THE SAINTS. I WON'T BE TOO UNHAPPY TO SEE DREW BREES MAKE THE SUPERBOWL THOUGH. HERE IS HOPING PEYTON MANNING AND TONY DUNGY BREAK THE STIGMA OF "CAN'T WIN A BIG ONE" AND ARE OFF TO THE SUPER BOWL. SHOULD BE A GOOD ONE, WHATEVER TEAMS MAKE IT. HOW IS THE TENNIS GOING? HERE IS A NEW ONE FROM ME (IN INDY BLUE!) MY DAUGHTER AND I MADE LAST NIGHT...QUICK AND EASY:

INGRDIENTS: 1 POUND SPAGHETTI ~ 1 LARGE HEAD OF BROCCOLI ~ ONE QUARTER CUP OLIVE OIL ~ 2-3 GARLIC CLOVES, THINLY SLICED ~ SMALL ONION ~ HALF TEASPOON KOSHER SALT (IF YOU HAVE IT, REG. SALT WORKS TOO) ONE HALF ROTISSERIE CHICKEN, MEAT SHREDDED ~ FRESHLY GROUND BLACK PEPPER AND A HALF (I LIKE A LITTLE MORE) TEASPOON OF RED PEPPER FLAKES.

CUT BROCCOLI INTO SMALL SLICES AND FLORETS ~ CUT GARLIC INTO THIN SLICES ~ DICE ONION ~ WHILE SPAGHETTI IS COOKING (RESERVE A HALF CUP OF WATER AFTER COOKING) COOK BROCCOLI, ONION AND GARLIC WITH HALF THE SALT AND HALF THE OIL UNTIL GARLIC IS SLIGHTLY BROWN AND BROCCOLI IS FORK TENDER ABOUT 4 OR 5 MINUTES. ADD COOKED PASTA AND SHREDDED CHICKEN WITH A HALF CUP OF RESERVED WATER FROM THE PASTA AND THE REMAINING SALT WITH A FEW GRINDS OF BLACK PEPPER ~ COOK UNTIL HEATED THROUGH 3-5 MINUTES. ADD THE RED PEPPER AND TOSS WELL ~ DRIZZLE WITH REMAINING OLIVE OIL AND SERVE.

THIS IS VERY GOOD AND LIGHT! NOT SURE ON CALORIES BUT IT CAN'T BE TOO BAD...RIGHT?
  • Sue! Hey I Saw You Just Posted...will Try Again With The "heat"!
