Lisa Welcome. My journey if you have read any of my posts is a struggle with cancer and I struggle with weight as well. Drs don't want us losing weight, but I don't want to gain. My oncologist says to be sure to eat protein and fiber. This opens up some foods I've been eating that seems to be working against me rather than for me. I'm still working on how to do that without gaining.

Carol Sue Glad you are losing. I agree inching down is better than gaining. Thanks for the website. I have not seen that one and it comes just at the right time for me because my experiment of trying to work fiber into my diet plan. I saved it to read later.

My weight is back up to 164 this morning which tells me it is time to get back to a lower carb woe. My eating has been out of control this past week. I had a Protein shake for breakfast. I have decided that if I am going to eat at night that I need to switch things around and have a protein shake for breakfast so I get my protein up. Then have dinner and a protein snack in the evening. I will still work at doing all this within 8 hr eating window.

Our beef roast is cooking and it will be ready when DH is ready to eat. I will eat my yogurt for a snack this evening.

I talked to my son this morning and we decided that will be with DDIL Mom this year and they will plan to come here next year. So it will be just DH and me for Thanksgiving. I've decided what I will cook for us and be able to stay pretty much OP. I'm glad to have that settled so I don't have to think about it any more.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

I cook a turkey even if we go somewhere else for Thanksgiving dinner because we like to eat leftovers for days afterwards. I have always done that. Last year Walmart sold the leftover turkeys for 50¢ per pound. I bought one and froze lt and Son in law bought 2. They cooked one on the smoker last week and I guess the second one will be for Thanksgiving. They are still good as long as they were frozen. I will probably buy another one to freeze. Sometimes i cook one at Christmas, too. We really like roast turkey.

DH wanted to go to the casino. I heard him tell his brother he was going by himself, but he didn't. I dont want him to go alone because I would worry. We are rarely apart. I would go with him rather than have him go alone even though I don't want to. But I won't tell him that.

One time he went to Goodwill without me and the workers there were shocked. The only place we go without each other is when he goes out to play the lottery.

Good job Trish! You will work out that hunger thing! You always do!❤

Sleep was not good, but. 6 hours 10 minutes Fitbit rated it 63, fair.

Scale is down once again .6 to 180.4.
Today we go to Walmart. There are some things i want that I forgot last week. We have to figure out what we are going to do about milk. Sometimes when i want it to drink or put on cereal I do without so DH will have it for his coffee. I buy 2 half gallons, one skim and one 2%. I think I will need to buy more mid week so we never run out. Right now there is a tiny bit left, and I dont like to drink week old milk. DH will not use dry creamer. He uses milk and sugar but does not like flavored. I like my milk cold and fresh. I dont care if its skim or 2%, because i havent figured out which is best for weight loss. The mosst important thing to me right now is weight loss. Thats something else to research!😅

Carol Sue Good for you still going down with weight. I am actually sleeping better these days although my body has managed to adjust quickly. I slept without waking up to go pee until around 6:30 am. I go back to bed and woke up ready to get up at 8:30 am. That is good. I'm back to going to bed around 12:30 to 1 am.

Weight stayed the same and FBG and BP still good. I am hoping to get things turned around. Vegetable beef soup/stew is in the crockpot and I'm looking forward to it. I took some of the leftover potatoes and the meat and added a partial bag of a blend of veggies the local store sells called Mezla Guarcinion that is similar to Normandy veggies except smaller than baby cut version of Normandy blend plus it also has corn in it. The smaller cut is perfect for making homemade soup/stew.

I did eat my breakfast of raisin bran and FF Greek yogurt with a sl of SL toast. I will get my fiber up to 19 g today. I might work my fiber up to 20 g bur don't think my body will tolerate higher. I will drink a Protein shake this evening. I figure I am needing the iron in the raisins in the cereal. I think I'm going to enjoy the variety of food on this woe.

We need to go to Walmart and although I need to go pick up my prescription from the local store, but there are some foods I like better from Walmart. I like veggies from the local store, but Walmart has better selection of the cereals and other foods that this local store doesn't carry. For some reason they don't always carry my SLMG bread. It has to do with clientele in their area and they cater to them which is fine because I do like some of the things they eat, but not all of it is all that healthy. At least not for me.

Well, DH is up and I'm behind time. I haven't even done my formal exercises yet. I did spend time vacuuming with electric light sweeper and mopped the kitchen. Now I'll have to play catch up on the exercises.

Have a great day.

I read about milk and weight loss. Mostly it said if you count calories, skim is best. But 2%and whole milk have merits, too. Milk has a lot of nutrients that the body needs. As soon as we got home from Walmart I drank 2 cups. Mmmmmm, so good! I bought skim this time but will switch off to 2%,too. I drank only skim milk for years back when it was thin and watery. Now they add something to it to make it thicker and tastier. I think i will enter both skim and 2% into MFP and see how it affects my numbers.

DH went to the meat store and got ground beef and buns and came home and made hamburgers fot our dinner. Thats all we had, no sides. I wasnt really very hungry. He said they were very crowded. All i know is their meat department is great. All the meat looks fresh and good. They have a nice produce department, too. But its an expensive store. I used to do all my shopping there before I started shopping at Walmart.

Carol Sue The bigger local stores have a butcher and you can buy special cuts you want and one of them by Sams club has fresh fish cuts. The one I get my prescriptions just has meat cutters and they put out cuts of meat packaged and fish is frozen. They are higher priced than Walmart. The local store is known for TX beef whereas Walmart gets theirs from different places.

The soup was good but left me feeling bloated. Something I won't cook often any way. I love homemade hamburgers but DH doesn't so we get his McDs. Tomorrow he wants KFC because we will go to Walmart and it is close by.

Yes,this store has the meat cutters who cut and package the meat. They grind the meat and package it. I believe they dont add anything to it. I think Walmarts comes in prepackaged and they just put it out. The smaller local store 1 mile away also has meat cutters but their meat is not as nice. If you buy a package of ground beef it is sometimes brown in the middle. Their chicken is lower priced though so I buy it there often. The local store is the only one who carries the pasta sauce I like and the baked beans I like. Their deli, however, wont cut the deli meats the way you want it so DH wont buy it there. He likes it sliced thin and they say "this is what we have.". That store is expensive, too. When they have a sale the sale prices are good. We like shopping at Walmart because Aldi's, Target, and Goodwill are all together, along with Bob Evans, and our hairdresser. Its all about 5 miles from us.

Carol Sue Sorry you didn't sleep well. I slept pretty good although I did get up twice to go potty.

Weight stuck at 164... not going up or down. This is when I am tempted to change what I'm doing and either go back to lower carb or something else. I woke up this morning and after going to potty, I felt so light in my tummy. Something I haven't felt since I started working on eating more fiber. I honestly felt like I had a breakthrough so I will continue doing what I'm doing. I'm keeping my protein grams up to between low 80s to high 90s and actually got my fiber up to almost 20 grams yesterday. If this works as I've heard it does, I should start losing weight sometime in the near future. I think I will do this through the holidays to give it a good chance and see how it works. If it isn't doing what I want it to, then I will consider going low carb again. I guess I should be happy that I don't weigh 200+ any more and I am staying stable.

Exercises are all done for today. I didn't do the recumbent bike, but may do that later. For now I consider the walking a good substitute for the bike today. I started doing the squats etc that I used to do because I think my legs need them. I'm really working to get the circulation going strong in my legs.

I ordered some of those toe socks and will get them Thursday. I read they are good for balance. I hope they will make a pair of shoes I have feel better to my feet as well.

We are going to Sam's and then to Walmart. We have money on a card from the Advantage plan we are losiing in our area and we need to use it before the end of the year. I want to use it and forget it. We were supposed to be able to use it to other stores, but Walmart was the only place that took it. Since we will be there, we will be getting KFC today.

Have a good day.

Trish what kind of toe socks did you order? I never heard anything about helping balance. They must be different from mine. I would like something to help with balance.

I ate a big breakfast this morning, eggs, mushrooms, tomato and SL toast. Then I had potty issues the rest of the afternoon. When i went to Walmart they didnt have any SL white bread which is what i like. The white always sells out first. So I bought the Nickles 35. But last time i bought it, it went moldy quickly, and I havent bought it since. Since I usually only eat 1 slice a day it went moldy and i think the only way to prevent that is to leave the second half of the loaf in the freezer. The SL never went moldy. I quit buying the deli turkey so I dont make sandwiches anymore.

Im really tired. I cant wait to go to bed and its only 5:30.

Carol Sue I just bought a package of 4 white toe socks. When I looked them up online to see what they looked like there was an article that said they help with balance. I didn't see any advertised that way on Amazon. I just got cotton because I want to see if I like them or not. If I like them, I might order some warmer ones for wearing around the house. I'll see if I can find the article. I am looking at box toe shoes too. They are ugly but I think I need to be able to spread my toes. I've always worn the stylish type of shoes and think that was bad for my toes. I bought inserts for my Fashion shoes I bought from Amazon when I was still in the wheelchair. They are uncomfortable, but I think it is because my sock squeeze my toes together. Hopefully with the toe socks and the inserts those shoes will feel better.

Today has been a good day. We spent a lot of money today but then I told DH that we bought a lot of taxable items. Walmart didn't have the low calorie foods I wanted to cook for TD. I think I have to go to the bigger local store to get those items if I can even find them there. Kept calories just under 1400 calories. So I guess that was good.

I talked to DS and she said her kids are talking about doing Thanksgiving at her house and we could go if we wanted to, but DH doesn't want to go, but we both were really tired when I talked to her. Don't know if we will change our mind by then or not. Will have to see how we and she feels by then.

I'm tired tonight too. I could easily go to bed, but it is too early. Maybe we will both sleep good tonight.

Carol, oh my goodness, my problem is my aortic valve too. It doesn't close properly, I have some obstruction. I'm ok for now and I might always be ok. The heart doc monitors me ever 6 months.

I currently live in Washington State. I was born and raised in Ohio. I'm 57. My daughter is back home in Dayton. I miss her like crazy but I love Washington.

Trish, I'm very sorry about your cancer. It sounds like you are between a rock and a hard place with eating protein and fiber.

Today. the scale is down .8 to 180.0 If im very careful today, i should be back in the 170s tomorrow. Its hard to say because this drop was caused by potty issues I had last night and overnight.

Sleep wasnt great. i tossed and turned until 4 am then got up for the bathroom. Then fell back to deep sleep until 10 am which gave me 8 1/2 hours. I feel rested.

Trish I had a pair of toe socks years ago like yours, but that is not what i wear now. The ones i wear now are half socks that only cover the toes.

I hope this link works. I'm not good at posting links anymore

I might get some like yours to wear in winter with my boots and oxfords I wear when it snows and gets bitter cold.

Lisa, if you grew up in Ohio you know all about snow and cold. Do you get snow in Washington? I know you get rain!😩
