We are safe, but we did not win at the casino. But we didnt lose either. DH had a good machine and he had fun. On the way home we stopped at McDonalds. I had a McChicken, he had a McDouble and we split a large fry. So no casino the rest of the week.
You made me hungry for a ham sandwich. Tomorrow i will buy some deli baked ham and pumpernickle bread and have a ham sandwich.
I hope I dont toss and turn again tonight. I want sleep.
Carol Sue I'm glad your time to casino went well today although you didn't win.
My day went well although we had to come home so I didn't get everything I wanted to buy. because I had to cut my shopping short because issues. This turned out okay. We got Taco Bell and then I saw Dr. Westman on FB and he was giving an article away free on 10 tips for keto dieting. His woe keto is so much easier and I really like eating the way he says to eat. I made a copy of it because I want DH to actually read it and see how I want to eat.
I have food I need to help DH eat since he needs to watch his bs himself. As I've said, he isn't the one who eats bread, I am. I have a lot of activity next week with CT Scan and lab and a perm and an infusion. There isn't anything I want to eat for Christmas that I can't have doing keto so I plan to start next week after my lab. Dr. Westman says have bloodwork done and I get bloodwork every 3 weeks so this should be interesting to see how well this goes.
Today's eating went very well today. The carbs were down in the 80s and calories 1059.
I woke up ready to start on Westman's way of doing keto, although I just call it low carb. Although I don't have to track, I am choosing to do so. I will have 3 meals to get the calories and protein that I need. No special rules except for using the 10 tips on the article of Dr. Westman. I will look up more of his info and may even join his group even if I have to pay. One of the tips he gives is to eat what you can afford to eat and not to worry about the purity of the food that a lot of keto groups push. I appreciate this very much. I will share more as I go along. Today menu plan calories 1050, carbs 43, fat 55 and protein 96. Another thing I like about Dr. Westman is that I don't have to aim at eating more fat because he says you have enough fat on your body that you need to get rid of.
DH will be surprised because I have changed the menu today. We will have pan fried codfish fillets instead of lasagna. I've been having so many potty issues lately and I think he will have no problem with my plan change today.

Sleep was ok but not great. My battery died in my Fitbit so i have no record of how long or how well i slept. ive come to rely on that information. Silly, I know.
Scale is up to 179 but thats probably because I ate McDonalds when we came home and I dont usually eat at night. Eating at night also causes me to have poor sleep.
I hope your new eating plan helps you. I know Dr Westman is well respected and his eating plan is healthy.I dont always eat low carb because I try to work with what DH wants to eat. I do the best I can but I never go as low as 20 grams of carb. I think you will do well.
Carol Sue I'm not going to try to eat only 20 grams of carbs either, but I will try to keep them under 50 g if at all possible. I have the same deal of eating with DH especially on Takeout days, but even Dr. Westman says if you find yourself eating sugar (which represents a day or meal off to me) then just get right back OP the next meal or snack. He says he has followed this woe for 25 yrs as well as others so I feel like it is safe.
I will keep the dairy in my plan so those will contribute to my carbs so that won't make it easy for me to actually do keto. I call my woe low carb. I saw Dr. Westman say something on YouTube that some people call this Dirty Keto. I guess those are what he calls the carb police which he says you don't have to listen to. He says don't worry if the foods are processed and names some of the foods that I like such as link sausages. I would like to eat some of that in scrambled eggs. So I intend to do as he says and make up my own plan with a list of the foods that I like that are lc friendly and go for it. I've got food I can make it with until we go for my Scan and lab Monday. I figure we can go to the store and get what I need then.
I think I will start doing the cooking again. DH can have the kitchen to make his salad and I can cook the protein and veggies while he eats it. Today while I cook dinner, I will also cook up a batch of chicken leg quarters I found inthe freezer. They need to be cooked before they get freezer burned. Evidently DH closed it up and didn't let the air out before he closed it up.
It is strange, but I am excited about getting on this woe. I'm looking forward to it.

Yes,I think your plan is good. This is how I ate when i first started low carb in my early 20s. I started when Dr Atkins book first came out. That firstbook actually fell apart. I wore it out and probably threw it away. I have a new copy now and some of his newer books. I never followed it or any diet exactly but i kept protein high and carbs low. My diet was mostly protein and vegetables. I know I considered sausage links as protein and fat and never considered that they contained carb. I dont think the small amounts of carb that sneak in really count.
i spent the morning paying bills. For some reason i keep getting locked out of DHs phone account and it wont let me change my password. I called them but they were no help. They just said the account will unlock tomorrow. I like paying things online. I might have to change that payment to mail.
Im not hungry because I ate a big breakfast but DH wants dinner. I dont know what to do. We dont like the same foods. I didnt go to the store for ham so I didnt get my ham sandwich, but I'm no longer craving it.

Step sons inlaws were on their way to a doctors appointment and his MIL fell and was badly injured. They thought her shoulder was broken but its juust badly bruised. Shefell on her face and the bones around her eye socket are broken. She was transferred to a trauma center in Pittsburgh. DIL is the only child nearby. Her two sisters live out of state. The inlaws live in the mountains a couple hours away from us, and they are expecting a huge snowstorm overnight so her Dad will probably stay at step sons if he can. He is in his 80s and is an insulin dependant diabetic. His meds are probably at home and her mother takes care of him, testing blood sugar and injecting insulin. One off my biggest fears is falling. DH just doesnt understand why so many people need walkers, etc. This woman didnt use one. I dont know how she fell, if she tripped on uneven sidewalk or something else. It wasnt icy. She fell forward and hit her head and face. Please pray for her. Her name is Janet.

I slept ok but was tossing and turning praying for Janet and George. Christmas will not be the same this year for them. Also,I feel bad about a 64 year old woman near us who went missing 2 days ago. They think she fell down a sink hole that opened up in an abandoned mine shaft. They dont expect to find her alive. Its hard on the family when these things happen. It makes me count my blessings.
Scale is down 1.6 to 177.4. So happy to see it go down even that little bit. I have to continue to work toward that.
Good nights sleep and woke up ready to get up. I have to try to start getting up early the rest of the week to get ready of having to get up early next week for appointments, etc. I need to get up early for Sunday to start the 24 hr urine test that has to be turned in Monday morning very early because of the CT Scan.
Weight is up but I think that isn't unusual when switching to low carb. However, FBG was 99 this morning. So that is a good thing. I am thinking about changing my weighing to once a week or even every 3 weeks when I go for treatment.
Carol Sue I am so sorry about the missing woman and your step son's inlaws. That will make Christmas hard for family members. I think about all those people who lost homes, family members and some lost most of their family members in the 2 hurricanes we had. I thought of the family of the insurance ceo who was murdered yesterday and them to have to see all this of him being shot on tv. Just so much evil going on these days. My heart and prayers go out to all these people.
Diet plan is going well. I have my plan for today. Had my eggs, bacon and cheese breakfast and actually enjoyed it. I made extra bacon for a snack if I need it. I am cooking pork tenderloin steaks today and will have a small amount of broccoli with that along with my Jello with SF cool whip. The cod fish fillet I had yesterday was very small. DH had bought it at Sam's and they used to be a really good size probably a 4 to 5 oz fillet. With the economy being as it is, these fillet probably weren't even 2 oz. We were hungry later so I ate slices of thin sliced ham. I hope this will change in the future.

I couldnt findd my tester this morning and thought I left it in the car. Turned out it was in the bathroom and my extra one is missing. So I didnt test this miorning until after I had eaten so we wont get into that. I used that number to know how much med to take. I keep my extra tester on the table next to my chair and its missing.
DH wants LaChoy Chicken Chow Mein for dinner. It is,quick and easy but very high carb, so I'll try to eat light, maybe cook some vegetables with it. I want to keep my weight going down.
Did I mention we got snow overnight? 1-2 inches. Rusty. goes out in it like he doesnt even care! Poor doggy!
Everything went good today. The interesting thing that I suddenly realized is that the acid reflux is gone doing low carb. I just listened to Dr. Berry saying that 80% of it went away when he started eating keto and totally gone since he has been on carnivore. I've also read that the autoimmune system improves when eating this way.

I havent had acid reflux for years but I take a Pepcid at bedtime each night. I call what i do semi low carb. Scale is up .2 to 177.8. Sleep was poor. It took hours for me to fall asleep so I didnt get much sleep. When i finally fell asleep I dreamed I was shopping at Dollar Tree. I havent been there in ages. There was a certain thing I was looking for but I couldnt find it.

The problem I have with doing low carb all the time is DH changes the plan. Today we are eating tv dinners. I know we need to use them so I guess it will be January before I get to actually doing low carb. That is okay as long as I don't have potty issues and my FBG stays low. Dr. Westman says some people slowly enter into keto and I'm not doing keto. I just want to do low carb.
Carol Sue I'm glad they found the body of the missing woman, but sorry for her family. I have to wonder what she experienced before she actually died. I have been wondering about Janet. I wonder how they treat her broken bones in her face. That has to be really painful, DS and I both had falls where we hit our face, but thank God we had nothing broken.
I sleep good every night, but I think it is because I'm so cozy in the warm bed. I notice when it is cold in the living room and I'm covered with my Snuggies, that once I'm nice and warm that I fall asleep. My weight is up to 163.6 lbs, but FBG was 102 and bp was excellent. I dream but never remember what I dream.
This is a quite Friday for me this week. I called oncology and asked about having lab work after my CT Scan explaining that they always do labs before the CT Scan. I don't know if the stuff I drink for the scan will affect my blood draw. They changed it so I will get it done before I go in for the scan. That will all be done Monday.

Trish,I dont know why i dont sleep better. Before my heart valve procedure i fell asleep in my recliner every day and since then i never do, even if i close my eyes and try. I seem to sleep best after DH gets up in the morning., even if its a short time. I just didnt seem to be tired enough to fall asleep when i went to bed. Maybe i go to bed too early.
