I have 2 walkers also. The silver one belonged to my MIL. Medicare gave it to her but she wouldnt use it. She wanted to walk. So when she passed away in 2005 I took it in case i ever needed it. When DH broke his hip he tried to use it but it was too short for him so Medicare gave him a higher one. Then we bought a rollator at Goodwill with the 4 wheels, a seat and a storage compartment under the seat because I wanted it just in case. It was cheap, maybe $12-$15. We also bought a transport wheelchair. These are all in the basement.
DH is so weird about people using walkers. Also ,people who use the riding carts in the grocery store. He says "They need to get out and walk!". He feels that once you quit walking you lose the ability. He doesnt realize that these things help people be more independent. He should thank God that he is able to get around so well at 81. People have disabilities that you cant see. One time in Walmart I tried to ride one of those carts. I ran into a display and knocked it over.😅
I hope there is no problem with installing our garage door opener. DH installed the first one with no problem but that was 42 years ago and it was a Craftsman from Sears. The new one is Genie. The problem is we have a steel support beam in the garage and so we need a 6 ft bar and they come with an 8 ft bar. The first installer said it cant be cut. I just hope it can be installed. Im just a dumb woman but i asked DH why they couldnt use the bar from the old opener that is still there. The garage door can be opened and closed using the button on the wall inside. But the remote controls dont work and the key pad doesnt work. I dont know if it can be repaired. DH tried. I'm so afraid of him falling on the front steps if they are snowy or icy.
Trish,my bloodwork always includes cholesterol etc, and that has to be fasting. I dont know what would happen if I ate. I used to need to suck on a cough drop to fall asleep.. I bought sugar free. I know I did that once the night before blood work. It didnt contain sugar but they say eat nothing, not just sugar. I am only allowed water to take my meds.
When you used to fast until 3:00, did you eat again in the evening or did you do OMAD? I would like to do OMAD. But I like eggs too much to give up breakfast, and I'm really not crazy about meat or other dinner food. When I lived alone i rarely ate dinner. If i got hungry i would xxx eat eggs for dinner. I did a lot of IF back then, before I ev Sen heard of it. Back then fasting was bad for you and only done for religeous reasons. I felt if I didnt eat i would lose weight, and it worked. But i never told anyone i did it because they would be appalled! You have to eat 3 meals a day! That one timwe i fasted for 36 hours DH was so concerned. He just said You cant do that! Well I did it and I was fine! Its just my love of eggs that prevents me from morning fasting. Our local blood labs are right next to Bob Evans and another good restaurant, plus McDonalds so we eat breakfast right after blood draw. IfigotoQuestIhave no copay but my cardiologist likes me to go to QuickDraw because he gets results faster as it is part of the hospital. If I go there I have a $30 copay. Ihave to make an appointment at Quest but QuickDraw is walk in.There is another lab nearby but I've only gone there once.
Something is wrong with my tablet. BBL.
Sleep was ok. Fitbit battery went dead so it didnt record all my sleep. Scale stayed the same. 181.8.
Carol Sue Your DH is blessed not to have any major health problems at his age. We are the same age and if it wasn't for the cancer, I would consider my health very good for my age. Just as I am concerned about him being on icy/snow steps to enter your house, I do get concerned about his attitude about you using the walker. I am so thankful to have mine. I don't use it in the grocery store because I can use a cart and to me that is almost like using the walker. I hated it when I had to use the riding cart because it was difficult for me to get up and down when I needed something on higher shelves. I have always tried to help people when I see them on a riding cart and needs something higher they can't reach. It is interesting and sad to me that so many people will not help those people when they see them trying to reach something. I hope I don't sound nasty but I have to wonder which your DH would prefer for you to be able to get around with a walker or something happen to where you can't walk at all. I still don't like using the walker all the time and will spend my life trying to be able to finally use a cane, but walking with a walker is much better than having to use a wheelchair. I do like using the walker when I go for infusion because I take a neck pillow and bag with water, Protein shake etc and it is nice to have the space under the seat to carry them.
Lisa I like your way of using a trash bag on it to carry other things too. I might try that as well. DH might not like that but I would.
Weight this morning is back down to 160. I've decided the fiber woe must be working. I don't like it as much as low carb, but I read somewhere that my treatment medicine can cause colon problems so I figure that is why oncologist wants me eating fiber. So I will stick with it.
I haven't got all my lab reports yet, but from what I got so far, things seems to be stable. I've decided next time I have lab work at oncology that I won't fast to see how the results turn out. DH says the reason they are non-fasting labs is that they don't check cholesterol. The only time I have to fast for oncology is before I have CT Scan and they are always done in the morning.
Pork chops are for dinner today. My calories will be 1188 today.
Oh, Carol Sue, when I was fasting was when I was doing IE. Back then I would wait 5 to 6 hrs between meals. I always loved the rule... eat only when you are hungry, eat what you really want and eat as much as you need to satisfy you. I still like that rule, but it was spoiled for me when I wrote an IE group and they said it was dangerous to go so long without eating. Then I got on IE groups where they fussed at me for using IE as a woe to lose weight. As I write this. I feel like I still let other people's way of dieting/eating influence me. If I ate the way I like, I may not have ever had the problems I have had. Perhaps I should think about that.
Exercise all done for this week. It has really been a good week.

Trish, DH thinks like the old saying "If you dont use it,you lose it!". So if you dont walk you will lose the ability. He thinks he is helping me by making me walk. Maybe he is,but maybe not. I think it depends on why it is a oproblem for me. I have balance issues. Around the house i hold onto furniture and the walls. When I get out of my recliner there is nothing to hold onto. I keep thinking one of these days I will lose my balance and crash into the 60" TV. Remember the day I flew across the living room and landed face down in my recliner? That time I tripped on something. If the recliner wasnt there I would have gone thru the picture window. Better to use a walker.
I understand how IE is meant to stop binge eating. However, eating when hungry and stopping when satisfied is what I consider normal eating. In the past and sometimes now I do what i consider compulsive overeating. I dont binge eat, as eating a whole gallon of ice cream or a whole cake. But I go back for second helpings even when I'm no longer hungry. I do it because it tastes good. Or because I dont know when I'm going to have that item again. I have to convince myself that there will never be a time when I wont be able to have what I want to eat. Sometimes I eat as if there wont be food tomorrow.
Waiting 5 hours between meals also seems normal to me. You should be finished digesting a meal before you eat more. You dont put gas in your car when the tank is still full. That might be a poor example because you also dont wait til the tank is empty. I know for me, food tastes a lot better when I'm hungry. I agree that we each should choose our own eating plan rather than following someone else. Someone else plan might give us an idea to try to see if we get the same result.
When I lived with my mother I always ate dinner because she cooked it and it was good. when I lived alone I didnt cook dinner. That was it. I didnt want to cook for 1. So I was IF without knowing it. I just knew if I didnt eat I lost weight. I never considered the health effects of not eating. We know now that it isnt harmful if done properly. Some have fasted for weeks or months with no harmful effects. Our bodies live off of stored fats,of which we have plenty! When fasting for 5 days in the hospital they checked blood every day. One time they said potassium was low so they gave me an IV. 5 days without food and the only thing that was low was potassium? Day 6 I was allowed broth and jello. Day 7 I was given cream soups and pudding. Day 7 I was given oatmeal and a sandwich and sent home. I lost 15 lbs.
I dont know if I could fast for 5 days now. It was water only but I was not allowed to drink it. It was IV.
Trish, when I'm in Walmart and I cant reach something I look around for someone tall. If I cant find anyone I call DH and say "Help is needed in aisle 23.". Or whatever aisle. But there is usually someone around. Men love when you ask them to help you. We dont stay together in Walmart. DH started using a shopping cart when he broke his hip. He shops and gets automotive and hardware items, candy, and other things he wants. I get the things we need from grocery and pharmacy then we meet up by the checkouts and combine our carts.
DH takes pills for blood pressure. He had open heart surgery and a blocked carotid artery that they discovered when he went into the hospital for the broken hip. He has had several stents. At the time, I said that God had him fall and break his hip so these problems would be discovered. He does not get these type of things checked out. If he feels really bad he will go to the ER but he might have had a heart attack or stroke if he had not gone to the hospital for his hip. He is lucky he made it through the hip surgery the day before. He has pain in his hip from time to time but he cancelled his appointment for his check up. He also has a blockage in his other carotid artery but wont go back to get it checked. He cancelled that appointment, too.It makes me angry but what can I do? I cant make him go to the doctor and cant make him stop gambling. I cant control anything he does. I'm just glad he doesnt drink or smoke.
I'm just rattling on and on. I hope I'm not boring anyone!
Carol Sue I agree that eating when hungry and eating enough of what you really want to just be satisfied is normal eating as far as I am concerned. I actually believe if I went back to eating that way again that I would just automatically lose weight. Before I married DH#2, I had my own place. I taught kindergarten and food was actually free there although I could be around the food without getting hungry. I might have a time once in a while that I felt like I was going to be sick if I didn't eat anything and I would grab a bite of something off a kids tray that was being thrown out. But it was literally a bite. I ate OMAD because that was not only cheaper but I wasn't hungry until evening. I would make myself a homemade hamburger with few fries and drink a glass of milk. My eating started when I married and we lived with his grandparents until we got our own place. Cooking for us and 3 kids, I gradually began eating 3 meals a day and as usual when I ate "normal", I gained weight.
I would really love to get back to IE woe again. I honestly think that tracking is not too good for me because I try to eat the way we are told to eat is healthy, but I'm not sure the experts "normal healthy" just may not be healthy for me. I know it isn't normal for me. I am blessed because DH is not like either of my 1st 2 hubbies when it comes to eating. He was never one who ate 3 "normal" meals a day. He eats the main meal we have together and then he eats his cauliflower before he goes to bed at 4am every night. So I can easily eat or not eat other than that one meal.
I had potty issues today and finally too Imodium. It was my fault as I ate way too much fiber which I know I can't do plus I had a diet ice cream and I'm sure it was made with sugar alcohol that I know tears up my stomach. Maybe it will help me get back down to 159 lbs where I was on Nov 1st.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After writing what I wrote about how I ate when I did IE, I've decided to stop tracking and go back to doing IE again the way I ate when I married DH and we lived in SC. No more following other people's woe rules. DH DD and her family lived with us. I asked her how she ate because she was so thin. She said "When I'm hungry I eat. If I'm not hungry, I don't eat." She said she didn't eat just because it was mealtime. That is how I ate for years when I was young. I know I will have my main meal with DH but will only eat other meals or snacks when hungry. We know fasting is healthy and good for us so that is how I want to eat from now on. Carol Sue, I agree that food tastes a lot better when we are hungry. One thing I remember that helped me go longer without hunger was drinking water. Will see how it goes.

Sleep was ok. 5 1/2 hours. I think maybe my fitbit isnt picking up all my sleep. I just woke up at 8:30 but it shows me sleeping til 5 but not falling back to sleep.
Scale up to 183.
Trish, I sem to eat following DH WOE and he believes in 3 meals a day. He doesnt eat much at each meal. If he eats something i like I end up eating some of it, even if im not hungry. Thats what i did yesterday. I was up over 1400 calories and I know thats too much for me. I have to stay below 1200. Im so into tracking I know i wont quit. I need the record of what i eat. The calories on MFP are not correct because they show wildly different numbers for 3-4 of the same food, like meatloaf or chili. It depends on your ingredients.and the size of your serving. But it gives me an estimate and that works for me. Im eating enough to maintain, not lose.
We have to go to Walmart today not Tomorrow because we have to have milk and a couple other things.
Carol Sue I can't get away from tracking either. I do like knowing what I'm eating. For one thing it makes it easier to see how some foods affect my FBG, BP and weight. Plus it helps me keep doing my exercises because I track that as well. So I won't be giving that up. I will stick with 2 or 3 meals a day and really work harder at keeping calories down around 1200 or less most days to save cals for takeout foods.
Weight was 160 today. Scale tried to go down to 159 but just couldn't stay there. I went over on sodium yesterday and it showed on the scale. FBG was 107 and BP 106/59. So that is good.
I've heard you should eat a variety of foods and not to eat the same foods all the time, but I don't think is true. Not for me any way. I had my eggs, bacon and toast with my coffee for breakfast. My dinner will always be a variety of foods. Today will be cod fish and veggies and diet pudding for dessert. If I am hungry for something later, I will have a fiber cereal with Greek yogurt. I've pretty much decided this woe will be my own plan from now on. I really like my eggs and bacon for breakfast and can work in some fiber cereal that I like in the evening. I read somewhere you shouldn't eat anything 5 hrs before going to bed. I can do this and stop eating 6 hrs before I go to bed at 1 am. This week I will do only 5 days of exercise because I don't exercise the day I go for infusion.
Carol Sue is your stepdaughter doing Thanksgiving at her home? I've decided that we will stay home. DH doesn't want to go anywhere so I will get the food I want to cook for Thanksgiving. The main thing I do want is my dressing. I've decided to make it with cornbread and SLMG bread. I think the bread will make it healthier. I will be cooking either a whole chicken or leg quarters instead of a turkey. Will have to see what DH wants to go with it.
Got my toe socks and I love them and I think they are helping my balance. I am able to walk around the house without my walker. So I think these will help me so that perhaps I can eventually use my walker just when out in public and eventually go to the cane. I will try them with my fashion shoes (doesn't look fashionable to me) when we go to the store Tuesday. The next thing is to check out getting box toe sneakers.
Have a blessed Sunday.

Srtep daughter is hosting Thanksgiving and it up to 10 people so far. She has a lot of room. Onectime i made cornbread dressing with sausage and nobody ate it. They are used to the old style bread stuffing inside the turkey. I would like it made with SL bread.
I like certain foods better than others and like to eat the, same things. I think I get a variety of nutrients. Right now im enjoying cooked carrots andcauliflower.
We didnt go to Walmart because DH is watching the game. We will go after its over.
Lisa, I don't take trash out. He does. When we married, his Mother lived with us until she passed away and she informed him one day that taking the trash out ever since. He has no problem with me using the walker. However, you using a trash bag just made me realize that I might could put a smaller trash type or even grocery bag on my walker to carry things. Especially when going to oncology for my infusions.
Carol Sue I had a sister-in-law who was born and raised in Washington state. She always made cornbread dressings because that is what our inlaws liked, but one time she made a bread dressing with oysters that was to die for. My Mama always made a huge batch of dressing made with half cornbread and half bread. I think DH family must have had bread dressing, but I'm not sure because he doesn't like it at all. So this year I will make it the way I want it either just cornbread or a cornbread/SLMG mixture. He does like giblet gravy but I won't have a chicken or turkey to get them so we will just have turkey gravy out of a jar.

I never learned to make homemade gravy so I either use jarred,or powdered in a packet. For Thankssgiving I always used jarred Heinz. When DH and i eat leftover turkey we make it with mushroom soup. I never tried to make gravy because DH doesnt like homemade gravy. His mothers was terrible.
My mother used to make bread stuffing ng with oysters. I made it once but didnt tell DH because he wouldnt have eaten it. My step son wont eat any stuffing. I love it.
If I ever have to take out the garbage I will use my rollator walker.
I forgot how terrible it is shopping at Walmart on Sunday evening. They had no mushrooms except brown ones and a few heads of lettuce barely bigger than an apple. I forgot to take my list so there were a few things I forgot. I almost put my list in my pocket but then decided to go to the bathroom then I forgot the list.
Lisa, my husband is the one who doesnt want me to use my walker. For anything. I guess he will be the one who has to get it in and out of the car.
There are people coming to step daughters who will not eat stuffing cooked inside the turkey. So she brings a casserole of dressing that her family will eat. Dressing in a casserole is mostly a southern thing. Most northerners make stuffing inside the turkey. Thats the only way DH and I have had it. I will eat either one.
Carol Sue I was taught to make a huge pan of dressing and put some of it in the turkey. DH grandmother put it in and all around the turkey. Everybody in my family and his family loved their dressing so we always made sure we made a lot of it.
I never can get my gravy thick enough for DH. DH#2 liked the giblet dressing made thin so it was easy to do. Most of the time I use the Heinze or store brand of gravy.
I'm proud of myself tonight. My calories ended up being 1190 and 3 meals within 8 hrs. If I can do this everyday it will be good. That is my goal.

Lisa I start getting hungry for Thanksgiving dinner on Nov1. Some restaurants start serving turkey dinner and I want to order it. There isnt anything at Thanksgiving that I dont like. My mother never made sweet potatoes so I never ate them til I met DH but I like them now. I think my mother didnt like them so she didnt make them. They are very healthy without the brown sugar and marshmallows! Trish and I always talk about food!!😅
When I was a young school girl there was a girl in school who said her mother made stuffing with ground meat. I never heard of that except for cornbread stuffing with sausage. And there was a girl at work who said her mother stuffed the turkey the night before. They always say not to do that because it breeds bacteria. But she said nobody ever got sick. One time I had chicken that was sruffed with rice stuffing and it was very good but I would never
try to make it.
i slept for 10 1/2 hours with only 1wake up for the bathroom. Scale is down to 182.6. This time I REFUSE to let it go back up! Down only!
Trish, remember this summer when the police were looking for an escaped woman near my house? They were doing it again last night around 9 pm. Step daughter heard about it and called us. DH heard helicopters and he looked out and saw they had big spotlights on the helocopters lighting up the neighborhood, just like you see on CSI. 😅. I dont know if they found who they were looking for. On Saturday DH saw cops up the street surrounding a car with 2 guys on the ground in handcuffs. We dont know what they did. I know It sounds like we live in a high crime area but we don't. Its just that we are a half mile away from a major highway. Our neighborhood is mostly senior citizens and a couple families with small children.
Today is Monday when we usually go to Walmart and Goodwill but we did Walmart yesterday. I dont know if DH will make a separate trip for Goodwill. We will go to the local grocery to get a few things I forgot at Walmart because I forgot my list. I need Clorox So I can wash sheets.
Weight down to 159.8 lbs this morning. I'm like you Carol Sue. I refuse to let it go back up. FBG was 107 and don't remember what bp was but it is really good. My health is so much better these days.
Carol Sue I don't think I've ever heard of making dressing with ground beef or sausage, but I guess that depends on what people like and don't like. DD 1st husband's family didn't like turkey so they had something else. I remember how that seemed so crazy to me until I married DH and he doesn't care about it. Now when we lived around his kids and his 1st wife's family, we had turkey for Thanksgiving but Christmas was always ham. But when everyone moved away and it was just us, I didn't want to cook a turkey for just the 2 of us. I think we did a turkey breast a few times, but we like the dark meat so now I just cook chicken. The only thing that changed for me when I married DH is that with ham being Christmas dinner used to be a New Years Day meal when I was married to DH#2. Now New Years Day eating is no different than any other day. As for dressing in the turkey, I stopped doing that when they said it was dangerous. DH family would leave food out all day cause everybody would go back and get food all through the day. No one got sick from it either, but I think we didn't have all the processed foods etc like we have today.
We are having Salisbury steak tv dinners today. I got one that has 340 calories in the dinner. I am going to have to watch DH when he buys tv dinners because he doesn't think about calories. He has a chicken tv dinner which might be a whole meal with no sides, but it is almost 500 calories.
I've decided that I will continue doing the 3 meals a day but will work towards eating lower carbs by January and work toward 2MAD by then as well.
