We ended up at the casino. I was not in the mood to argue. We had enough comps to eat dinner there then DH gambled. He didnt win but didnt lose all his money. And he had fun. I guess thats the goal. Now I have a few days off. Yay.. Im not tired. i guess i will read for a wgile and hope it makes me sleepy.

I read about fractured eye socket. Some can heal on their own and some require surgery. Eyesight can be lost. She already had macular degenerarion and doesnt see well. Poor woman. My heart hurts for her.

Carol Sue I pray Janet doesn't lose what eyesight she has. I pray she will be able to recover well. We have been conditioned to believe that things get worse as we get older. I made the statement to my RN niece one day about something I was feeling and said "I guess it is normal for my age". She corrected me and said that was not true. She says we shouldn't have pain just because we are getting older. I think that is one of the reasons why I can believe for God to heal me. Plus as I read the life of Jesus, He never refused to heal anyone who came to him for healing. In fact, there is a scripture that He healed them all. So I find it easy to take Him at His word. I know I will leave this world someday, but it doesn't have to be now.

I have been tired, but I realized last night that when you first start eating low carb... Atkins induction which I'm not eating carbs that low, you do get tired until your body adjusts. I think right now I'm doing more of a CAD woe although I don't follow it 100%. They didn't used to fuss at people who used the protein shakes.

Well I've got to call my DD. We talk to each other at a certain time each Saturday. I finally heard from all the kids we expected to hear from during the holiday.

I did not weigh or test blood sugar this morning. I will test before i go to bed. I picked up pills at Walmart today and they gave me a fill of G last week and another today. Thats good because the doctor is retiring and i dont see the new doctor until April. Im just really surprised they did that.

Today we had hot dogsfor dinner. I was not hungry but I ate one hot dog, nothing else. I bought deli ham today and finally had the ham sandwich on pumpernickle that I was craving. That was for lunch so thats why I was not hungry for dinner.

DH and I are both going for hair cuts next week and I made an appointment for Rusty. My hair needs trimmed so badly,I look like a shaggy dog. My girl was on sick leave and i was going to different people and no one cut it like her. I dont know if shes back yet. I have a picture of how i want it cut but DH will throw a fit. Its very short.

Trish,i dont think there should be such rules for a low carb diet. The only rule should be "Reduce your carbs." Whatever that means for you. If a protein shakes is low carb it should be ok. I guess if you are fiollowing Atkins you should follow his diet the way its written, but IMO you dont have to. This is probably why I never said I was on a particular diet, because I took ideas from different books that I read and made a diet that worked for me. Sobif protein shakes help you continue to lose, use them. Thats just my opinion.

Weight is down .6 to 177.2. I refuse to let it stop going down. I want to see the 160s.
I alwaysmake a goal to lose a pound a week and get into the 140s by Christmas. So heres another Christmas that I didnt come close. I need to change my strategy somehow. Hopefully i will start exercising by the New Year. I know exercise doesnot bring weight loss but forme it makesmewant to eat healthier. And I think it makes changes to your body that makes it receptive to weight loss by changing the way the hormones work. I'm going to do this one way or another. I'm determined!

I bought a rump roast and I'm going to cook that today in the pressure cooker. Thats the way DH likes it best.

This morning our temperatures are up. Its in the 40s this morning going into the 50s by afternoon. That would still be cold for you, Trish but its warm for us in Dec.

Carol Sue If I lived by myself it would be easy for me to do low carb everyday. I could even do days of carnivore, but not with DH. He thinks he eats low carb and I guess he does, but when we eat takeout, it is always with higher carbs such as Arby sandwiches, Chinese food and breaded chicken or fish. The only thing I can do on those days is make it more of my version of the old CAD day. That is where the Protein shakes come in because eating takeout doesn't always give me enough protein otherwise.

I can lose weight eating this way but as Dr. Westman it will be slower weight loss than it would be if I ate strict keto 20 g carbs each day. At the rate I'm going, it won't be long till you will catch up with me in the 160s. Weight this morning is down a little to 162.2 lbs. It has been so cold here that I've been drinking diet hot chocolate or diet hot cider at night to keep me warm. That messes with my FBG. When I don't drink it, FBG is under 100 and drinking it is under 110.

Since I have lab draw at 8:45 in the morning, we are having a steak. I would love to have had a beef roast, but I don't have any roasts right now. DH picks up whatever cut of beef steaks we can get on sale every time we go to the store, so I always have them on hand. I definitely want to get a small ham for Christmas. Since I plan to do low carb at least 6 days a week and only eat a CAD type of day once a week, I want to eat some of the meats I haven't been eating because of the sodium. I have the Lasix and hopefully with the low carb most days, I won't need to worry about the sodium, I can fall back on the Lasix as needed. This is really my plan and I think it is a good plan for me.

You know I have a pressure cooker, but have never used it as pressure cooker. I actually used it as a crockpot, but it is so heavy that I have a difficult time lifting it out of the pantry. I need to get it out and leave it on the counter and lose to cook with it. DD used to use it when they lived with us.

I need to drink plenty of fluids today for lab and scan. I will have to force myself to drink it because it is so cold to me.

Have a good day.

My roast was good with carrots, mashed potatoes and cauliflower with cheese sauce. I prefer pork roast but have beef roast for a change.

I love drinking ice water, even when its cold out. My body seems to crave it. I even put it in the freezer to get it really coldd.

Trish, by the time I get into the 160s you will be in the 150s.Im losing too slow to catch up to you. I lose some then I bounce back up. But have to get better control.

I wrapped up all the leftovers fromm our dinner and will have them for lunch tomorrow instead of throwwing them out. Beef roast is not something DH will eat leftover. I buy a smaller roast for jusst the two of us and Eusry usually gets the leftovers. I love the carrots and cauliflower with cheese and will eat a slice of beef with it so it doesnt go to waste, and maybe a smaller breakfast.

Bedtime soon!

Carol Sue I don't know which I like the most when it comes to beef and pork as I think I like them about the same. I like them with carrots and potatoes as well.

I'm doing good with my eating. I had a small lettuce and tomato and radish salad along with my Jello with cool whip dessert and it was really good. I do pretty good, but eating this way with a small amount of starch which is usually a serving of crackers.

We are going to bed soon too since I need to get up no later than 6:30 am so I can dress and be ready to leave by 8 am.
Hope I can go right to sleep. I don't always sleep well when I have to leave so early.

I slept well. scale was 177.0 down .2. Blood sugar was 97. Woohoo!

We dont need much from Walmart but we go every Monday, plus to Goodwill for senior discount day. We went a couple dayes ago because they called about prescriptions so we spent about $50. But we always need milk. and one dozen eggs.I always go thru the meat department to see what looks good. Maybe get some steaks today. I bought a big bag of kale at the local store so I'll make kale and cabbage soon. My fingernails grow when i eat kale. I normally have terrible nails. Id DH wants to we will get breakfast at Bob Evans. Thats not my preference.

Hope your labs and scan go well!

Carol Sue Your weight is coming down slowly but I think that is good. I like losing that way. Glad you got a good nights sleep.

The lady who usually sets up my schedule didn't do it this time. I had called yesterday and had it set up for me to get my lab done 1st before my scan, but someone changed it and the lady who does the scan did the blood draw just before she injected the dye. It worked out very well because I was the 1st person having the scan done and I was out of there an hour earlier than planned.

Everything went fine until I got home and ate. I ended up with diarrhea later. I suffered with it for way over an hour and decided to take anti-diarrhea meds and got rid of it, but I've been really tired since I had been awake since 5 am although I didn't get up until 6:15 am. We went to the local store because I had a prescription to pick up which I didn't need, but I took it because I don't know if oncology will want me to keep taking the bone medicine.

I threw away the stale bread yesterday and when I went to the store, I got foods to start eating more of a lower carb woe. We got McDs CB and I brought mine home and made it into a salad and ditched the bun. However, I did eat half the fries. I canceled my hair appointment for tomorrow. I didn't want to take the chance I'm still having issues so won't go anywhere else until I go for my infusion Friday morning. I will get my hair done sometime within the next week or two.

We are watching Cowboys game and recording Baylor's basketball game. No Christmas movie tonight. I would sleep through it any way.

Hope you've had a good day and sleep well tonight.

Unfortunately my weight bounced up .4. 177.4. It always does. It took a long time to fall asleep last night but then I slept good. Just not as long. That could contribute to the bounce up. Blood sugar was up,too. Im ok with a bounce up if most days show a loss.

DH watched the Dallas game last night . Sorry for the loss. I was watching when they were tied but didnt see the end. The Steelers have 3 tough games coming up.

DH went to get his drivers license picture taken. He could have waited but he wanted to go. We still havent gotten our new licenses and will probably do that when I renew mine. I dont think we will ever fly again and wont need it. We went once but I didnt have the correct documentation. I sent for it but never went back. The birth certificate I've had all these years was invalid, and also my marriage license.

No particular plans for dinner. I could make pork and sauerkraut but im waiting til New Years for that.

We both need haircuts before Christmas. I dont know when that will be. Hopefully this week. He doesnt really need it. He has hardly any hair. What he has left has gone all gray and can hardly be seen.

I was reading about Dr Nowazardens diet from My 600 lb Life. There is a book but its very expensive. Kindle is $19.95. He always, says "1200 calories in 2-3 meals,no snacks.". Online it says high protein, high fiber, low carb, low fat. There is a list of yes and no foods. Too strict for me. This is why im not losing well because i dont stay away from the no foods. I guess i dont want it bad enough. If I did I would do what is necessary.

Carol Sue I hope you had a good nights sleep and are doing well. I hope you have just been busy getting last minute things done before the end of the year. I miss you when you don't post and pray you are okay. I think you said you are getting hair cuts for you, DH and Rusty.

I am thankful for a new day and it is starting out better today than yesterday. DH insisted that I go to bed early and get more sleep. He thinks I'm not sleeping long enough to heal my body. I usually get 7 or 8 hrs, but I got an extra hour last night because I was in bed before midnight.

Weight was down 1.2 lbs this morning to 161 lbs. Since some of that was due to the potty issues, I'm not sure how much of that will stay but I will take it. I got the results of my CBC blood test and everything is basically good. Some #s are getting better and some stayed the same or near the same. All those test results trickle in the scan and my CA 125 may not be in until tomorrow or even Thursday.

I am on low carb 100% today. I will work at keeping it that way allowing myself a one meal a week at a Carbohydrate Addict's Diet Day. This way DH and I can enjoy some non low carb meal when we are out or in a special situation and maybe keep me from having stomach issues.

I canceled my hair perm yesterday because I didn't want to call her at the last moment to cancel. I am playing with doing my hair differently so can feel better about myself. I may just want a haircut or just a body perm. I think I would like to wear it in the old pageboy haircut. It would still be easy to fix and I would feel better.

Have a good day everyone.

Carol Sue We were posting at the same time. I had to have so many things when I got switch from SC driver's license to a TX driver's license, but I felt like that was because we are a border state and they wanted to be sure we were legal citizens. I went into the same problem with my birth certificate as well. I had two certificates that came from the hospital and the county and I still had to go get the originals. The strange thing is that I used them to get FL and SC licenses when I married and moved there, but not here. I checked DH and my driver's license the other day because I read on line that the new licenses have to have a star on them. I can't remember, but I think that is going to be a federal thing, but I could be wrong.

Like you I don't want a diet plan that says "Avoid these foods" etc. There are foods I cannot eat because they cause potty issues and I don't always know what those are. I understand it goes with my situation. My finance lady that I've become friends with at oncology said her husband who is still going through chemo has the same problem. He tells her that he knows that if he eats a certain food that he will pay for it later, but he wants to eat it anyway. I've just gotten to the point that sometimes the problems are so drastic that it isn't worth eating those foods. So I call those my personal foods that most of the time I can just walk right past those foods without being tempted to buy them. I think we may lose slowly this way, but I figure at my age there are a lot of foods I like for quick snacks to ward off hunger that I can have on a low carb/keto type of woe that I couldn't have on a regular diet so I am planning my woe around those foods.

All I know about the new drivers icense is you need it to board a plane or go into a federal building. Otherwise you dont "Need" it. To get it you need your birth certificate, social security card, proof of your address and marriage licence. Neither my birth certificate or marriage license were valid and I had to send for them. All of DHs documents were valid but he didnt want to get the new license until I did. We keep saying we will go and try again but did not so far.

I dont care if a diet plan has a list of foods to avoid but not if they are a specific food that I eat sometimes. I can stay within a calorie count and still eat foods I like. I watch carbs but I know I eat more than I should. Also a longer fasting period helps me. If I take in fewer calories than i burn. I might lose faster if I gave up certain foods but I dont want to. So until I change that I will accept lower losses.

I get potty issues occasionally but I dont know what foods cause them. its not nearly as bad as before. My friend got tested for hers and nothing was really found but microscopic colitis which can be caused by many things. It is much better if she takes Metamucil so the doctor told her to continue taking it. It could be from gluten or dairy.

8 hr 15 min sleep last night. I was up at 3 am due to potty issues, therefore the scale is down 1.8 lb to 175.6. Thats the lowest I've been in a while. I dont expect to hold it since its due to potty issues, but I can hope. Fasting blood sugar was 104. Thats good for me but due to meds at bedtime.

So I dont know what caused the potty issues. I didnt eat at bedtime. Well,I ate a few pretzels for the salt.

Nothing planned for today.. If I feel ok I might make pumpkin piesthati didnt make for Thanksgiving. DH wants them. Then I want to start baking christmas cookies to put in the freezer. I have not baked cookies the past 2 Christmases due to not feeling well in December. This year November was my sick month.

We had pizza for dinner last night. I didnt feel like cooking and I wasnt really hungry so i was glad when he said he wanted pizza. I ate 1 & 1/2 slices. It had hot sausage that was good but too hot for me. The 1/2 slice had only cheese which is my preference. We tried to give the leftover pizza to step daughter but she said No. So its in the fridge and maybe DH will eat it for lunch today. I am going to try to eat when hungry. I will have to eat a smaller breakfast but im not sure i can train my cook to make a smaller breakfast. He doesnt eat any most days and I like the breakfast he cooks but I need to eat less. Once its on my olate i eat it all because its nourishing and tastes good. I never leave food on my plate. Im president of the clean plate club. DH leaves food on his plate at all times. Never cleans his plate. That was one of the first things I noticed about him.

Our temperarure is dropping today so we have already had our high of 41. Asit drops we are getting rain changing to snow but no accumulation. Tomorrow will be a high of 26. Then back up for the weekend. They said this has been the warmest fall on record.

DH is still working on the garage door opener. Step son told us not to use the outdoor key pad but I want it. So hes going to wire it up. We also have a button upstairs to open the garage door. If someone pulls in the driveway in bad weather we open the garage door to let them come in thru the house instead of coming up the front steps. We used the button for the old opener but he had to rewire it for the new one. He did that yesterday. Our Impala came with a garage door button built into the dashboard so he has to program that, too. Thatsthe car that is kept inside the 1 car garage and we rarely drive that vehicle. My car is a Chevy Trax and sits outside and is driven every day. I rarely drive, DH does most of the driving. Thats not good but thats how it is. If I had to drive I could. When he broke his hip I drove for a few months but after he was allowed to drive again he took over. I dont consider myself to be a good driver because I dont do it enough. I avoid the highway when I can. At my last job, parking was terrible, so DH was retired and he started driving me to work. Thats how this started. He takes me shopping because he loves to shop. He takes me to appointments. Before I met him, my friend and I drove to Canada for vacation taking turns driving her car,and I drove by myself to New Jersey to visit my Uncle and Aunt. So I was an experienced driver.

DH is going for a haircut today but I dont feel like going today because I'm not sure my potty issues are done. I like to go on Friday.

Janet is home from the hospital. Her shoulder still hurts although they said its just bruised, nothing broken, and her eye is black and blue but shes able to see out of it. She has to go back for reconstructive surgery. I dont know why they didnt do it while she was there.

I suspect DH is going to want to go to the casino today. He washed jeans and i suspect he wanted a clean pair to wear to the casino. I dont want to go because of the expected snow later. He will have to go a different day or go by himself. I dont want him to go by himself but I wont stop him.

_________________________
I guess were going. I lost the argument, again. It is snowing but unless it accumulates he wont change his mind because of it. I will try one more time to get him to switch to Friday. Its supposed to be warmer.

Carol Sue I hope the weight loss stays. Mine did. I was still 161 this morning so hopefully I am back to steady weight loss. I'm glad Janet is home. I'm surprised she didn't have it done now before the end of the year. I know a lot of people are getting last minute things done because of their deductibles. Maybe they couldn't work her in. I hope you don't have to go to the casino. I know how you feel, I wouldn't want to go with bad weather coming. Would y'all be going to the one closer to y'all?

I got all my test results and everything is improved except the CA125 was up some more. I pray that the CT Scan shows all is okay. My hemoglobin and platelets are finally normal. Creatinine is normal, but BUN and BUN/Creatinine ratio is still high. I will read up on that. I have very few things that are High or Low so it was really a good report. The 24 Urine test is very good as well. I hope I won't have to keep doing that one much longer.

This woe is working very well for me. I am totally enjoying it. I had a 2 egg omelet made with sausage and cheese this morning and it was really good. I love them fried, but it is easier to scramble them or make into an omelet depending on whatever else I'm doing. I make tuna salad that will last me 2 or 3 days and make myself SF Jello that lasts me 4 days. I remember in some diet group I was OA (Overeaters Anonymous) years ago we had a saying you either prepare to succeed or to fail. We made our plans first thing in the morning and had a sponsor that we called our plan to lock in our plan for the day. I will use that way of planning now. We are having pork tenderloin steaks for dinner. I will have tuna for supper and if I get hungry or forget to take my pills, I will have a serving of link sausage for a snack if I need it.

I go get my hair cut tomorrow afternoon. She didn't have a perm right now and I told her that I have body and probably don't need a perm. I want to try the old pageboy hair style, so we are just going to cut it for that style and see if I can get it to grow so I can just turn it under. I have a place on my forehead that would be called a bunion on a persons foot. It doesn't give me any trouble so I've never had it removed. I've heard if I ever have a problem with it that insurance will pay to remove it, but it doesn't so I just have to cover it with bangs. My Mama had one in the same place. Strange thing. We are the only 2 I've ever known to have it.

Guess I need to get busy. DH is starting his salad. So I guess I'll do the rest of my exercise after dinner.

Have a good day and stay safe if you go to the casino.
