DH said he is not going to the doctor about his toenail. I think he has an appointment with the PCP in Dec and if so I will make him get it checked. I'm concerned about infection.
Hi all: got to the pool today. Realized that taking any meds or supplements on an empty stomach affects me. I seemed ok about it a while back, but now it bothers me.
I am in the habit of taking my pills in the morning, but took a few things out, but that seems to be a source of problems now.
I also went to a seniors health fair today. Had a hearing test because sometimes the kids bug me about my hearing. I say it's selective, in that I am totally deaf when reading a book or concentrating on something. In any case, I have excellent hearing. The region has a lot of services and such, most of which I don't need, but may explore a few other things.
Sadly, given that about 80% of the people there are diabetic, there was candy at almost every vendor table.
At least the snack room had healthier stuff like fruit and yogurt.
I didn't have any of it, but was very hungry when I got home. I had a mushroom omelette and some steamed broccoli with butter.
Carol thanks for the info about the vibration stands, that is really interesting. I am not sure about how it would affect my knee, but perhaps I could have the brace on.
Carol Sue Thanks for the link. I will check it out. Men are so stubborn aren't they?
Fatmad Sounds like you had a busy day but it is good to know your hearing is good. I remember reading a book by a man years ago who had developed a drink to prevent or detox cancer. He had learned some of the tea from the Indians who were in the westerm movies he was in. He talked about going for medical treatment and how they always had sugary foods like cinnamon rolls etc to feed the patients which he said fed the cancer. They don't serve pastries any more but the do keep a basket full of junk food for us to choose from.
I've had a pretty good day and I even stayed within 7 hr eating window today and all the exercises are done. I figured out today that I do about 35 minutes worth of exercuses total a day.

When I went to cardiac rehab in the other location they had a basket with individual packets of graham crackers in case anyone's blood sugar went too low. There was a guy who came to the next door treatment room who would come over and take a big handful. They had to tell him to stop. I guess he thought we were getting a special snack. As far as I know they don't have that now unless its kept put away somewhere unless needed. They do have small bottles of water.
At my former cardiologist, they gave coffee and donuts after you did a test that required fasting. I have never been able to eat sugar on an empty stomach. I get nauseated. At the hospital, they gave me pudding as soon as they admitted me. I don't know why.
Mad, I always wear my knee brace when exercising. My vibration platform doesn't bother my knee but I can understand your concern.
DHs toe hurts today but he still says he doesn't want to see a doctor. I guess he wants to wait til its too late like our neighbor did. He probably has to go to a foot doctor but should at least get it looked at and get a medical opinion.

Mad,I dont mean to say your knee issues the same as mine. 15 years ago I was told I have OA and fluid on the knee. No treatment. I wear a brace, use ice sometimes and have a cream I rub on it. No Hyaluronic acid anymore, but it did help. As far as I can tell, the vibration doesn't bother it.
Another good day at rehsb. They keep increasing the time on each machine. I'm enjoying it more. The instructors change each day and they are all nice. I'm going to do my treadmill over the weekend.
Carol Sue I'm glad the rehab is enjoyable for you now. It is strange but I am enjoying the exercises I am doing now and I'm so proud of myself when I get it done. The funny thing today was that I had lowered my bike time to 15 minutes instead of the 20 minutes I used to do since I'm doing so much other exercises, but today I ended up doing 20 minutes without even thinking about it. I think the difference in my exercises now and back when I used to struggle to get them done dreading them is that now I am working towards a goal to be able to continue walking. My goal right now is to get rid of the neuropathy and be able to walk without the walker.
I'm also learning what foods I need to eat and which foods that I can't even bring in the house even if they are considered healthy because I can't keep my hands out of them making them become a problem instead of healthy for me.
DH is cooking pork chops today. He cooked brussel sprouts for me yesterday and served a double portion so I'm eating the other half today. I had him buy me some fresh zucchini the last time he went to the store without me. He got just 2 because they were long. When I went to cook one of them, they were English cucumbers. LOL So I will go cut some of one of them up for dinner. I would hate for them to ruin. When we were in the store together the other day, I showed him what a zucchini looks like. He is really a good cook but he needs to learn his veggies. He is much like your DH when it comes to veggies. Picky eaters.

We went out to eat at Rodneys and we had turkey! Every restaurant seems to have a turkey dinner now. We had it at Bob Evans last week. No more turkey now til Thanksgiving.
I feel like I'm getting a cold. I hope its not covid. I just took Alka Seltzer plus. I don't want to be sick for Thanksgiving. I have to bake pies. And I can't go to rehab if I'm sick. So I hope it goes away if I get a good night sleep.
Carol Sue I certainly will be praying with you that you don't get sick. I hope we both can enjoy our Thanksgiving time with our famlies. Hope your Alka-seltzer and a good nights sleep makes you feel better tomorrow.
Carol Sue I am glad you feel better today. I saw on the weather channel that y'all are going to have a lot of snow coming through your way in a few days.
Talked to DBS and they are going to her DS and DDIL for Thanksgiving. I am glad that she will be with her kids, grandkids and at least 2 or 3 new great grandkids. I don't blame her because I would have done the same thing. It also brings our count for dinner down to 8 or 9 of us plus to little boys. It will make things a lot easier for us.
The nice thing about all of this is that I have my pretty much organized. Hopefully I can keep it this way. I told DH that after my DS and DIL leave that I will get things organized even better by getting a bunch of clothes ready to give to Goodwill. Besides getting my bedroom and bath organized, I spent the morning hemming a new pair of pants along with a pair of sweat pants. I think I've got enough to get me through the winter and I won't buy anything new until spring time. I hope I will have reached my goal of 150 by then. Right now I seem to bounce between 161 and 163 lbs. I was 162.2 this morning.
DS and I were talking this morning about all the times DS and DDIL have said they were coming to see me and didn't and we wonder if they really will show up this time. We keep expecting them to call with some sort of emergency that will cause them to cancel. Sad to feel that but we both have alternate plans just in case.

DH has been in bed most of the day. His blood pressure was up high. Its coming down now. He has been buying and eating bags of potato chips with dip. He buys reduced salt chips but they still have salt. He puts them in a bowl but give them to me after eating half. I guess now he might stop buying them. Once in a while is ok. I'm really not a big chip fan because I dont like salt. He buys pretzels, too. He also salts his food before tasting it. I'm worried about him.
I'm glad you are getting ready for Thanksgiving. I hope step daughter doesn't have any problems. I want to go over in the morning to help her but it will depend on how DH feels. I wish her sister in law would help her. If don't know if she knows how to do the turkey by herself.
I looked online for our snow predictions and there's only 1 inch predicted for Nov, 5 inches for December and 10 inches for January and February. Thats our normal snow for winter. We also get some in March. I hate it because we are too old to be clearing snow.

Carol Sue I hope your DH will feel better tomorrow and not get sick from eating so much sodium snacks. I finally got DH to start usng Dash to season my food instead of salt. I think he finally understands that I can't eat a lot of it.
DH got energetic tonight and put our 2 little Christmas trees up in the LR. We have one that we put up in the guest bedroom but I told him not to put it up yet because the kids will be sleeping in there. He can put it up Saturday after they leave.
I was hungry last night and tonight and gave in to the hunger. I'm not sure why. I am going to have to figure out something that I can snack that is not going to add weight. I just am not sure what that would be.
Headed to bed soon. Hope we have a good nights sleep.

DHs blood pressure is high this morning but so is mine. He thinks something might be wrong with our blood pressure meter. I think we have an old one somewhere. I will have to check. He says he feels better.
Last year I did not decorate for Christmas. DH put some decorations up outside but I didn't put a tree up. DH has to get it out of the attic. I don't put up a big one anymore. I have 2 small ones, one blue and one pink. I alternate from year to year. No one comes to our house until DHs birthday on the 28th. They used to come on Christmas and on DHs birthday but we changed that. Step son spends Christmas with his in laws. They stay overnight on Christmas Eve. Stepdaughter started having her husbands family on Christmas. So DH and I get to relax and have Christmas together.
Trish,if you are hungry you should eat. Maybe you aren't eating enough for dinner. There are some things you could snack on,like vegetables. We didn't have dinner last night. I had a braunswauger sandwich and DH had a Twinkie! No wonder he didn't feel good! I think I will make Meatloaf today.

Meatloaf is in the oven. He told me not to put any salt in it. If I see him pick up the salt shaker when he eats I'm going to scream at him! I think I will hide the salt shaker.
The other blood pressure meter shows the same number but the hose leaks air. His blood pressure is,down again.
I don't know if I'm going to rehab tomorrow. It depends on how DH feels. He takes me and waits for me. Its near Goodwill so he might go to Goodwill while I'm there or we will go together after. I would rather he waited for me. My arms are hurting from the arm bike, right where my arm joins the shoulder.

Carol Sue I'm glad your DH is feeling better and I hope the problem is with a faulty meter. I had to purchase a new one a while back because it was way off. I don't know how accurate the ones in the drugstores are or if they even have them but you could check with them or just get a new one. I'm not sure about my bp because it runs within what is considered normal range most of the time, but I wonder about it since my bp used to run so low all the time. It is crazy that now I take 2 differet bp meds to keep it normal. I have to just trust God to take care of me. I pray all is well with y'all's.
I talked to DS this morning. I don't think I have to buy anything else for Thanksgiving dinner because DDIL is going to bring the things she needs to make the dressing. He is having a 15 lb turkey smoked. With the sides and the 2 desserts DS and I plan to have should be enough for all of us. DS sounds excited about coming to see us so I'm pretty sure they will come this time. Still haven't heard from DGS so don't know what he really plans to do.
Well it is starting to be cold enough to make my fingers hurt. It is going to be really cold around here Wednesday and Thursday. I will be wearing sweats most days from now on.
I would love a meatloaf but DH and I don't like it cooked the same way. I think he needs a break from cooking because he asked if we could eat lasagna or something like that which means a frozen dinner.

DH is complaining that he can't put salt on his food so I guess he is going to stay away from it. I bought Mrs Dash but I don't like it. He is microwaving the potatoes. Says they are not soft enough. I checked them with a fork. Felt soft to me. They were in the oven over an hour. He's the potato connessour. And I'm not hungry but might eat later.
Both of our blood pressure meters say the same thing so I think they are right. There are none in stores close to us.
