Carol Sue I can't believe your cards were hacked so close together, but I'm so glad the Lord was looking after you and they caught it.

I think the BP, statin and aspirin is supposed to protect us from stroke. I take them trusting the Lord to use them to protect us. I'm like you, I don't want DH to have to have to go through this again and take care of me. He finally told me today that I scared the death out of him because I didn't seem to know him, he didn't know if he was going to come back to him. The DASH diet is what my baby sister used to get rid of high blood pressure so that is why I have chosen to use it to control this as much as I possibly can. I also want to get our FBG back under control.

Like you, I want to live the life I have left enjoying what I have left.

I drank some chamomile tea to help me relax so I'm headed to bed. Goodnight.

Trish, I only had a card hacked once before years ago and it was right after I signed up with Paypal. Thats what I blamed it on and never used PayPal again. It was always small amounts and the card company always caught it. I never had a charge on my account that I did not recognise.

When I see my doctor I want to discuss stroke risk. I also have Pulmonary Hypertension. I have never been told that but it keeps popping up on the list recently on my portal. I read about it and it could be causing some of my symptoms. I get more chest discomfort than I ever did before. I want answers to ease my mind and I want to do whatever it takes to give me the best quality of life.

Carol, I have to wonder if someone in the billing dept at the hospital, or someone who comes into your room while sleeping copied your cards. They can even do it without having the card in hand with some kind of RFID scanner, which is why they have the wallets that are scan proof. That is upsetting. I never had a problem with PayPal, but one gas station I used to go to my card was scammed a couple of times. I stopped going there. Too bad, it was one of the few places left where they pumped the gas for you, which I liked, especially in winter and I wore skirts for work among the Old Order people. No problem now for years.
Supper out last night was lovely, but had a little hiccup when they didn't get the gluten free part of the order right, but it was obvious and sent back before I had a bite. So at least I didn't get sick. I am tired today after a busy day yesterday.
Did lots of errands and exercise early, and resting now.
Have a good day friends.

Carol Sue I guess I misunderstood because I thought someone tried to use on of your cards after you registered at the hospital. We had a credit card used years ago not long after we married. I think DH caught it and called the credit card company and they took care of it. He had ordered something from a place he had used to buy pc and other stuff for years but this time someone working there decided to add some very expensive items to the account and to send it somewhere in NY. Another time they called to see if DH had ordered something and he hadn't so that one was caught to o. I'm glad they catch things and stop them.

I spent the morning working out my calories and sodium count so we can have chili. I will have chili mac and keep the amount low so I can eat it too. I had oatmeal with banana and yogurt for breakfast. We will have the chili and I will use an angel food cake that I bought yesterday to make us a lowfat, no sugar added fruit and unsweetened cool whip to make a semi-shortcake dessert. I have DASH Diet plan for today and my calories are less than 1300 and my sodium count is less that 1500 mg. plus I will do my 40 minutes exercise for today.

Weight was back up to 159.8 lb but at least I am still under 160 lbs. Now I want to diet between now and Thanksgiving to see how much I can lose and stay healthy. I will have my CAT scan on November 22 but won't have the results until I go for my next infusion on the 30th.

Boy was I sleepy when I checked in before going to bed. What I was saying was DH finally told me yesterday that because I didn't seem to recognize him and he couldn't comfort me or settle me down that he was afraid that I wasn't going to come back to him. I surely don't want to put him through that again. His 1st wife who died from a heart attack had a stroke and things went down hill for her from the stroke. By the time she decided she wanted to die, she had lost toes and was blind and if she had lived after her heart surgery she would have lost her legs because he said they were almost black. Having lost both our previous mates to heart trouble, neither of us want to lose each other, but I wouldn't want to put him through all that again. He doesn't deserve to have to go through stuff like that again.

Guess I better get busy and exercise or this will be another one of those days when it all won't be done.

Have a great day everyone.

Mad, when I had my procedure done at the hospital DH used his card and just swiped it thru their machine. I didn't have my credit cards with me in the hospital. At the doctors office the girl took the card with her then brought it back. I don't think they can copy it if I swipe it thru the machine. It can't say for sure this is xxx what happened but its one way someone could get my numbers. I'm lucky the transaction was denied for whatever reason. I didn't recognise the name of the merchant where the transaction took place nor could I find it online.

Trish, I have a couple books on my Kindle about the dash diet but haven't read them yet. I will, soon, though. I need to be more careful. Exercise is supposed to help, too And i should get back to that when I start rehab. I'm glad all this is available to me. My weight is the best its been in several years and I hope to continue losing.

I can't take the statin. I couldn't remember why we wouln't take it originaly but we watched about the side effects on YouTube last night. First I learned from the paperwork they give you from the pharmacy.hospital that a rash I've been fighting since I started taking it is caused by the statin. Then I saw that it causes to blood sugar to go up. But the 2 big reasons I will have to refuse to take it is it causes cataracts to grow and so does my chemo medication. Plus it causes the platalets to go down and I have to fight to keep them up now because if they go to low I can't get an infusion. Another thing I noticed this morning is that it makes me feel whipped out. I need all the strength I can get to live. So I won't take it at least until I talk to the Vascular surgeon. Maybe he will have some other idea. I did hear and will research today to see how and what to eat to control cholesterol with diet and exercise.

Weight was up to 161 this morning which I'm sure is the food we ate the last 3 days causing some swelling. DH wants chili again today but I think I'm either going to have a baked potato or a homemade turkey burger made on SLMG bread unless I make it into a salad. I didn't stay OP yesterday but hope to eat lighter and healthier today. I had a taquita made with 1 egg, 1 sl bacon on whole wheat low carb tortilla and a banana along with a cup of decaf coffee. I'lll have to go back to eating oatmeal for breakfast to keep my cholesterol low. The tortilla was kinda high in cholesterol according to MFP.

Hope everybody has a nice Saturday.

Trish, many people can't take a statin. They are very contraversial. Why do they want you to take it? For the stroke? They said your heart is good. I don't understand. I think I remember when you refused it before. Is your cholesterol high? Do what you think is best for you!

I ate a lot of junk today. Ice cream. I am addicted. That is not good. I did not weigh today. I have to get back on track. I should be weighing daily because of the CHF but once I skip I don't go back to it. Bad girl!

Carol Sue I'm doing really well staying OP either. I'm back to being bored with planning food. I think I'm just tired of so many rules at this time.

The doctor in the hospital put me on a statin and my primary wants me to stay on it. At the time I would have stayed on it, but I changed my mind once I saw the rash was probably caused by it, but once I realized it could cause the cataracts to be worse as well as cause platalets go down and I could mess up my cancer treatments then there is no way I'm going to stop my treatments. I have gone through too much in 10 months to mess it up now. I hope my appointment with the Vascular doctor will go well.

Trish, when do you see the vascular doctor? I would wait, but considering he's a vascular doctor I think he will advise you to take it. Be persistant. Talk about your concerns. Ask for the one main reason you should take it. Then decide for yourself. Many people refuse it. You pay the doctors to advise you, but its your body and your decisuion.

Do you remember when my dog ate leftover chicken? When I had the pork loin we were feeding him leftover pork. Next time we gave him chicken he wouldn't eat it! 😅. He loved the pork.

I am up to 171. I did not weigh for several days but I've been eating a lot of carbs.

Carol Sue I see the Vascular doc in the morning at 11:45. I could be wrong but I don't think the risk of cancer growing back is worth the risk of taking the statin when the % of help is extremely low. I'm praying the cancer will be cured or they say remission and that is when I will have the surgery to reem out the arteriess. In the meantime, I'm going to work at eating a diet to lower cholesterol. I've also got to get back OP to lower FBG. It was 107 this morning.

Triish i have had heart issues since before age 50, 27+ years. So i understand why they want me to take the statin, but it didn't stop my problems.

I wonder how they will clean out your arteries.

We went to the old casino and it was much better. I was able to walk without shortness of breath or pain.

I looked up my cholesterol tests Feb 1st since it is only done once a year. My cholesterol and triglycerides were perfect. I didn't see any results of them testing it while I was in the hospital. DH says they just see plaque and they decide you need to take a statin. I don't think I need it. I will have to see what the Vascular doctor says.

Headed to bed soon. Good night.

Trish, I think they also take into consideration LDL and HDL. I wonder if there are people who don't have plaque? Actually, we don't know why step son had to get a valve replacement in his 40sbut he was told his arteries were "pristine.". No plaque. So that answers my question. I think that is because he is a big meat eater. Eats very few carbs. Has never been overweight. He is now 57 and still gets very good results from the cardiologist. He gets a thorough medical exam at work every year. They discovered his heart issue and told him to see a cardiologist. Thats when it was discovered that his valve was bad but I dont know what caused the problem. They think it might have been an infection such as strep throat. Infection in the body damages heart valves. His son,my grandson is a big meat eater, too, and also stepdaughters husband. They love to grill.

At 70% you don't have a lot of plaque for an 80 year old! I think they are concerned about the stroke even though they never said what caused it. Maybe they don't really know but are assuming. According to the information on my portal I am at high risk for a stroke but I dont know what I can do about it except take my meds and watch my diet. I'm going to die someday from something, but I want a quality of life in the meantime. I don't want to live on lettuce.

hi everyone: back from the pool. I am doing well and doing it 3 times a week, I am going to try to increase to 4. Since the time change, I may not find the Tuesday class too early for now. At 930. it seemed I could not get my act together early enough to get there, but this week, it may be fine. I have been on the bike most of the days I don't go to the pool, so I am getting good exercise almost daily. Doing weights and stretches as well. So pretty good all together.
Trish: why not measure yourself and go by measurements and not weight for a bit?
I expect you lost some muscle with the cancer treatments and recovery. You are exercising now and will get some muscle and tone back. It may weigh a bit more than your fat, so don't get discouraged about a bit of gaining.
I successfully fasted on Saturday, and am fasting again today. I ate ok yesterday.
Carol, I agree, we have to balance what we do with quality of life. For me, restricting food by fasting means I can eat well when not fasting. But I cannot think about food when fasting or I cave. I am still struggling, although it's the only thing that has ever worked for me.
Have a good week friends.
