Today has been a very good day. I got all my exercise done which made me the week with 5 days of completed exercises. I am so proud of myself. I even stayed OP with my eating. I plan to have a good nights sleep and even sleep in in the morning. I hope all of us have a good nights sleep.

Good night.

I did have a good nights sleep. 9 hours total and Fitbit says it was good sleep. I slept until 3 am when I had to go to the bathroom.that was without my Cpap. When I came back I used my Cpap and took 1 Benedryl and slept until 8am. I stayed in bed til 9:30 but no more sleep.

Right now I am exercising at rehab 3 days a week for 45 minutes or so. They are increasing the time and intensity of each of 3 exercises. I hate the bike so I try to do it first to get it overwith. 15 minutes. Then the arm bike for 10 minutes, then the nu step for 15 minutes. Before and after 2 walks down the hall for a warm up and cool down. The instructors vary 2 at a time and there are 6 of them altogether. One male and the rest female. I'm looking forward to starting back at home and want to do it gradually on the days I'm not at rehab.Soon. I still get a good walk at Walmart once or twice a week. I go all over the store for prescriptions and health and beauty aids, to the pet supply area for dog food and treats, and then throughout the grocery section. DH gets the candy and snacks then goes to the auto section for things he needs. We keep in touch by phone and meet when we are finished up by the checkouts to combine our carts. We usually do self checkout. DH rings and bags. After he had his hip surgery he started getting his own cart. Before he would walk around looking for me to put his things in the cart. This works much better.

I bought a bag of romaine salad but never ate it so it will go in the trash. I don't trust those bagged salads. They didn't have any other romaine. DH doesn't like romaine because he doesn't like the hard stem going up the middle but if I buy fresh romaine I can cut the stem out. He likes iceberg so I will buy that too. We need to start eating more salad. DH order salad when we eat out but I do not. I prefer to have a hot vegetable. He doesn't eat everything in the salad so I get to eat his onion, cucumbers and spinach. They have a very good salad at the casino but its all romaine so DH would not eat it. I eat it occasionally.

I have to start baking for Christmas. And also cleaning and decorating. I hope I have enough energy to do it all.

I hope all are doing well and have a good Saturday!

Hi gang: happy Saturday to you too, and Happy December. I have put the tree up and put on the lights and the beaded garland. Decorations later. I also cleaned off my roll top desk and put photos on Kijiji and will see if it sells. Will ask DD about doing things to find buyers, would be worth it to pay a little as I want a lot for it.
Finally feeling better from this cold. It was never horrible, but just enough to drag me down, and I was staying away from people to avoid spreading it.
But I will go out tonight and have some fun. I have one tune on the uke that I can play decently enough to be in public.
You are both doing well and getting exercise. I did less this week than usual, but will go back to the pool on Monday.

Have a good weekend.

Fatmad Glad you felt like putting up your tree and able to do a little more.

Carol Sue I'm glad you finally got a good nights sleep. I hope you have enough time to do your cooking a little bit at a time without wearing yourself out.

Today has been a good day. It feels good being able to do more. I took some of the left over roast and added veggies and made a beef stew. DH had salad and stew but I just ate the stew. There is still enough beef left over for another meal. Maybe sandwiches. No exercises today or tomorrow as I plan to exercise Mon-Fri.

I slept late today too. I didn't get up until after 10 am and I went to bed early. I realize that when my body tells me to rest that I need to do it. I had 2 meals within 4 hrs. I will eat a snack of a few carrots and end with 7 hr eating window. Now to relax and watch movies with DH.

Hope everyone has a good evening and night.

Mad, i'm glad your feeling better and getting the tree up and decorated. We got our decorations down from the attic and DH did the outside but no lights yet. I want to find my tree skirt before I put up my little tree.

We went to the local casino today and lost our money. DH likes that casino because we are home in 20 minutes. I went because he wanted to but I don't like it. We used to win but not any more. Other people we know complain that they don't win anymore but they keep on going, like we do. Its a very bad habit.

Trish, when I exercise I usually do it M-F because I like to watch tv while I'm exercising. Weekends are my rest days even though I know you are not supposed to rest two days in a row.

DH wanted to stop at Walmart on the way home but it was 8 pm and I don't like to go that late. There are many unsavory people there and they are out of a lot of things. I didn't have my list so we will go tomorrow. Sunday is usually busy too but at least its daylight. I don't need a lot. I don't like to go at night because some people target the elderly.

We came home and DH made grilled cheese, sandwiches. Eating late at night and carbs!! I hope I sleep good again.

It has been unseasonably warm here. Coming home it said 55 degrees. That's unusual for us in December. Tomorrow it will be in the 60s.

Weight is 173 this morning. Darn grilled cheese! It was very tasty but I know better than to eat that, especially at night. I'm in trouble if I don't turn this around soon.

I slept good again. I didn't go to bed until midnight. I was up late reading online. I just can't stop investigating my health issues. I can't get over the fact that I truly thought getting this valve replaced was my only problem and I would be in great shape afterwards. It was all in my portal but I never read it as thoroughly before. And the doctors never discussed this with me that I can remember. I'm shocked about all this. And other than not having much energy I feel fine.

The football game starts at 1 pm today so DH wants to go to Wal-Mart now. I don't remember ever going this early.

BBL.

The football game was stopped twice due to a heavy storm in Pittsburgh. They are about 25 miles away from me. Now we just had a big hail storm!

Trish, I read that one thing that is good for me to eat is cauliflower so I'm cooking some today along with baby carrots.

I was able to get some romaine today but they only had 3-packs. I hope we can eat all that before it goes bad. They didn't have any singles.

My weight isn't moving the scale up or down. I slept good last night myself. In fact, my sleep has been very good for the last 2 nights.

Carol Sue I understand how you feel. I didn't expect to have all the problems that I have had since I started battling cancer. I don't think I expected it to be easy but I didn't expect a lot of the problems either. However, I didn't expect to have a stroke caused by the medicine I'm on. I read today that statins could have protected me from some cancers as well as a stroke.

I have been blessed to have a Primary care doctor to help me understand things I don't. Example, if I had not had him to explain what my hospital tests revealed, I would have thought I had CHF, but he assured me that what I was seeing in the report is normal for all 80 yr olds. It doesn't keep me from taking care of myself by using the heart diet which will be good for my health all around. I hope you will get help you need too.

Trish, what tests did you have that made you think you had CHF? I never knew I had Pulmonary Hypertension for the the past 6 years. A couple times I saw it on my list of health issues but never asked about it. I just went Hmmmm. Even recently I wasn't told but I have started reading my portal more thoroughly and googling things I dont understand. The PH is life threatening. I guess the CHF is too. I got that diagnosis when I went to the ER in July unable to breathe. Thats why I have to take the fluid pill and limit my fluids, but I never have puffy ankles that I can see. There's one pill that I should be taking for the PH but they took me off it because it makes my ankles puffy. They might put me back on it anyway. As far as I know,I dont have any of the symptoms except for the chronic cough. I never knew why I had that and now I know. I only have mild SOB with activity except for the 2 times it got severe and I went to the hospital. I looked online and from what I see there are no PH specialists in my area. There are some in Pittsburgh but I won't go there. My portal also says I am high risk for stroke and also for blood clots in my lung. I never thought I would live this long because no one else in my family did except my half sister who lived to 85. Everyone else died in early 60s. I am not going to fight to live a long time, but I don't want to suffer. I am looking forward to going to heaven and seeing all who have gone before me. I want to hug my mother one more time.

My doctors answer questions but I don't always understand the terminology. Recently my PCP has brushed me off like he's in a hurry. He mostly just takes care of my diabetes and I leave the heart and BP to the cardiologist. When I go to the cardiologist I plan on paying cash for my copay because they are the same ones who had my credit card right before it got hacked. The credit card company never sent me a new card but we are using DHs card. I plan on applying for a card with a new company. I get offers all the time.

I'm waiting for DH to get up. I'm having coffee and will get dressed soon to go to rehab. I have so much to do at home later on.

____________

Cardiac rehab was hard today. They are increasing the intensity and I'm tired with no energy. My weight is up to 175. Cripes!! The dietician was in today and talked to each of us. There is just me and an older man, maybe my age. DH talked to him. He had a heart attack and got 5 stents. Anyway she gave me some papers to bring home but I think I already have them from the hospital.

I made a salad for lunch and had 2 hard cooked eggs. I don't know what were having for dinner. I'm not hungry now. I wanted to cook a pork roast but its still frozen.

I want a nap.

Carol Sue When I was in the hospital the cardio showed that the left side of my heart was enlarged. I thought that meant I had CHF, but both my Primary doctor and the Vascular surgeon said that I do not have CHF. They assured me that every 80 yr old's heart is like that. I was thankful to hear that.

How many m.ore cardio rehab do you have to do? My team nurse said that exercise is always helpful. So I am trying to do 5 days a week. I've decided to do Mon, Tues and Wed then take Thurs off and then do Fri and Sat. That way I won't be taking 2 off together. DH thinks I should do every day and I might eventually exercise 6 days a week but not yet.

I have a virtual appointment on the 14th with a dietician, but DH doesn't think I need it. I just want to know what oncology dietician says. Did you learn anything from your appointment? The hospital doctor told me to follow the heart diet. DASH seems to be the same diet and they are similar to WW.

I've got chicken leg quarters in the air fryer and DH is making our salads to go with it. We will have the left over veggies from the roast we had.

Hope you feel better after your nap Carol Sue. I had a sinus headache when I got up and took tylenol and a nap. When I woke up I did all my exercises. I really want to stay on schedule.

Have a good day everyone.

I'm glad you don't have CHF Trish. I think exercise is very important for everyone . I think I have 18 sessions at cardiac rehab and that will take me to finish up the Friday before Christmas. I like to exercise but for some reason I hate cardiac rehab. The recumbent bike is different from mine and it hurts my knee. I like the nu step and the arm bike but if its not adjusted right its uncomfortable. It was uncomfortable today. The people who work there are very nice. There are 4 of them, 1 guy and 3 girls. There are 2 at a time and they also work at the hospital. They adjust the machines and set the time. They check BP before and after and check weight on Monday. They watch a screen that tells them how our heart is working during exercise and if they see a problem they stop you. The other time I went to rehab they stopped people and one went to the hospital in an ambulance. One they just called the doctor. One woman got dizzy and her Glucose was very low. I think its important to be monitored for a while. Once I'm finished I will exercise M-F at home. When I see the doctor next week I will ask him if I can start exercising at home now and will do it on the in between days. I want to ask him what my condition is now, do I have afib, will I need a pacemaker, . Both my MIL and my BIL got a pacemaker after getting the valve replaced. MIL lived for 10 years after but BIL only lived a few.

I didn't get a nap. I'm getting sleepy now at 7:30 and will go to bed early. If have not napped since before I went to the hospital in July. I broke that habit even though I think it was a good hsbit. That might be why I dont have any energy.

I wanted to make cabbage rolls but we didn't buy the ingredients so maybe I will wait til the weekend. I also want to cook my pork roast.

I'm happy to see the scale to down 1.8 lb this morning to 173.4. I want to continue doan. I went to bed at 9:00. Forgot says I slept from 11 pm to 6 am with no wake ups. I went to the bathroom at 6 then back to bed and dozed until 9 am. So I was in bed for 12 hours but not sleeping the whole time. DH and I talk and plan for the next day. He puts the tv on but I am usually able to fall asleep depending what he's watching. I guess it was a good night.

I hope we all have a good day.

My pork loin is in the pressure cooker because it is still partially frozen. DH cut it in half so it should cook more evenly. I love pork! I put a bunch of baby carrots and half an onion in and 1/2 cup p beef broth. I have some pork gravy to serve with it. Either mashed potatoes or rice pilaf. Probably broccoli.

Carol Sue Congratulations on your weight loss. Mine seemed to be stuck at 1I was tired yesterday although I did get my exercises done and I was able to cook our dinner. DH had to wake me up for me to go to bed. I have no idea why I was so out of it yesterday. I don't know how I can sleep off and on during the day and then go to bed and I slept good and actually went right to sleep. It felt like I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I only remember getting up to go the bathroom 2 times before I got up at 9am.

I'm tired of trying to follow a diet plan mainly because I'm bored of trying to figure out what to eat... trying to plan an OP healthy plan whether I am hungry for it or not. I ate what I wanted this morning. I had cheese toast and a slice of toast with diet jelly on half of it along with a c of coffee. This shows me that some days I would eat little or no breakfast at all. I think that is why I always liked IE and WW Simply Filling plans.

DH has dental appointment so we are going to fin for ourselves. He will eat soup and I think I'm going to heat up one of those stuffed green peppers that I bought a while back. I have some tv dinners in the freezer that needs to be eaten or thrown out because I don't know how long they last. I'm careful as to how often to eat them because of the sodium in them.

I need to get my exercises done now. Hope everyone has a good day.

Trish, for the most part I am eating what I want but watching sodium and eating more vegetables for fiber and nutrients. I know I must lower my meat consumption and I'm not sure I can do that with this pork roast around. There will be leftovers and I enjoy it cold, too. I didn't realize how much I like pork. I haven't been buying it a lot til recently. I have some chops I'm saving for New Years. I will cook it with smoked sausage and hot dogs in sauerkraut. I wish there was such a thing as low sodium sauerkraut!! I will take the chance with it for New Year! I love sauerkraut but not as much as I love living!!

Carol Sue I feel the same way about sauerkraut. I love it with hot dogs, but can't eat them both at the same time because they are to high in sodium alone and of course even worse when eaten together. I used to love link sausages but stopped buying them because they are so high in sodium. Most of my Daddy's health problems came from the fact that he wanted them all the time and ate them constantly until he went to live in the nursing home. I don't love them enough to end up living in a nursing home. I give them up on my own so I can live in my own home as long as possible.
