Carol Sue Glad you are home. Now you can rest and allow your body to recover.

Fatmad I also feel that at this time that it is important for me to exercise especially if I can't do the extra things but I will do the extra when I am able to do so.

Trish, I agree that the exercise you are doing is very important to your recovery. I cannot exercise now. I have 2 follow up appointments this month so probably after that. They want me to go to cardiac rehab. I want to go but it depends on my copay. I was fully covered when I went before.

For right now I can walk at home, to the bathroom, to the kitchen. I was ok coming up the stairs. No lifting or vacuuming. I can do light cooking.

There was a woman in the next room who hollared for help day and night. She wanted someone to call the police. No wonder I have a headache.

Carol, delighted to hear from you. I hope you heal well. Don't worry about weight until you are on the mend. Just don't overdo DH's junk food. How interesting the hospital food was good, I never hear that!

Still had the headache last night, but slept well and work up without it. I think its flu shot hangover, I had that on Monday afternoon. I felt better than usual after it, except for the headaches, so let's hope that's it. I also have a massage scheduled today, so that will also feel better.

Happy Thursday everyone

Mad, I have never has a problem with the hospital food. Some things are better than others and I know what not to order.

I slept for 10 hours, up twice for the bathroom. Sites still hurt some. I'm concerned about cleaning them and changing bandages, watching for signs of infection. Walking in the house is ok.. I came up the stairs with no problem but will stay off the stairs for now.

Blood sugar was into the 300s and 400s yesterday. They were giving me 8 units of insulin and it came down to 200+ when I came home. I still have to hold Metformin but I took G and it was 107 at bedtime and 130 this morning. I'm ok with that. I
DH made scrambled eggs this morning and I'm having hot tea. All is well.

I'm getting lots of phone calls. I scheduled 2 Dr appointments. I'm scheduled for cardiac rehab. DH chose 8:30 am. Early! He likes to get things done early. I liked that they monitor my exercise to be sure everything is good. He will take me and stays and watches. I think its 1 hour. They said I have no copay. I hope not.

I'm concerned that you haven't checked in, Trish. I hope you're ok.

I slept 9 hours 49 minutes last night. Pain is less.

Weight went up to 171.8 now this morning back down to 171.0. So its all good.

I'm still concerned, Trish, that you haven't checked in.

I slept for 9+ hours again last night. My body really needs that rest and healing. I feel good, though. No pain. Today I will change my dressings and shower.

Carol Sue I ended up in the hospital sometime during Wednesday night. DH said I was scared to death and was screaming for someone to help me. Nothing he did helped me. I was slurring my words he could not begin to understand anything I was saying. He finally called my sister and told her he was sorry but he was going to have to call for an ambulance to take me to the hospital. He said that he and my DBIL kept asking the people at the hospital to do something to settle me down and finally they gave me something that put me to sleep. I woke up in my hospital room with no idea what was going on. Yesterday they checked my heart and arteries and that was fine. They did a MRI and I had a mild stroke. It was not caused by a clot but from the blood on the left frontal side of my brain to just stop flowing there. I have to take a baby asperin a day and the hospital doctor said for me to take cholesterol and added another bp medicine. The sad thing about this is that I scared my DH to death because this was different than he hadn't seen & couldn't figure out what was happening to me. I was not conscience of any of this. I'm just glad I am back home and everything is back to normal.

Carol Sue I'm so glad you are doing so well. I had my kindle at the hospital and then realized I didn't even know the password so I could not write. That is great that you are able to go for exercises. That will be great for you. I am so happy for you.

Have a nice day.

Trish,I was concerned. I'm glad to hear that you went to the hospital and found out what was wrong. I'm sorry you scared your DH but he did the right thing to call an ambulance. I'm glad you are back home. I wonder what caused your mild stroke.

I am feeling good. No pain. I am just sleeping, eating and walking to the bathroom. DH and I cooked dinner together. He changed my dressings and said all looks fine. No bleeding or bruising. I am comfortable. We are so lucky that we have such good DHs to take care of us.

I am glad I am going for rehab because this will get me started on exercising at home. I don't go until 11/7 and that gives me a couple weeks of r & r beforehand. I have 2 doctor appointments before that so I will get to go out a bit. No casino!!

Carol Sue I have no idea what caused the mild stroke. I think it could even be connected to other things like the foot massager. The fact it happened after I used it, I question if it could have used it. I'm so glad you are doing better. I'm glad you have no bruising. My blessed arms black and blue. I even have a gash in my left arm that I am trying to protect. I hope it will be well by the time I have infusion again on November 2nd. I feel we are blessed to have DH that take good of us. I told DH that I would love for him to help me in the kitchen and we could cook a meal together.

Headed to bed and pray we both have a good nights sleep.

Trish, did they check the carotid arteries in your neck? DH said that could have caused the stroke. One of the risks of the TAVR procedure I had is stroke.

I don't understand why I am sleeping 10 hours every night but it is good rest. I hope it continues. I usually wake up at 5-7 am but I am sleeping til 10am. I have not had a nap at all since I came home. I want to go somewhere. I don't need anything from the store. I want to walk around somewhere. When we go somewhere DH does not stay with me. I want him nearby just in case.

I am surprised that I did not get any bruising from the IVs. I had 2 of them in my right arm. I can't even tell where they were.

I did not get on the scale yet. I don't know if I gained or lost. I have been eating a lot. DH cooks potatoes every day. I have not had many vegetables, but I should.

Carol Sue Yes they checked the carotid arteries in my neck and they did a echo cardiogram of my heart and they were fine. I thought I might have to clean the arteries cleaned out. I asked the tech if they could do it here at the local hospital or if we still have to go to Temple, TX to have it done like Daddy did. He said "Your not going to have to have that done. Your arteries are fine". No one told me much about the heart except nothing was wrong with it. DH said he saw my heart and lungs were still on the screen and my heart was enlarged just a slight bit but not much and my lungs were clear. So that was all good news.

Perhaps your sleeping 10 hrs is just part of your healing. I'm not sure but I think that is probably good. Sounds like you are healing nicely.

The funny thing to me is that I am doing so much better moving around than I did before the stroke. If seems interesting to me that I was so full of fear during the stroke, but once they knoced me out and I woke up in the hospital room, I could get in and out of the bed with no problems and used their walker to move around and the swelling in my lower legs around my ankles are thinner. It is almost like something has broken loose. I plan to call my Primary doctor and try to get in to see him Monday or Tuesday. I want to be sure I'm on medicine he would have me take.

DH has gone to get my medicine and pick up a few groceries. I told him to get a whole chicken because I want to roast one in the air fryer and I can snack off of it. He is going to get us a DQ burger and a small bleezered. I'm going to air fry some sweet potato fries to go with it. Our diet is going to be lower carb most days and one meal a week, we will eat somthing we really want like a CB or some other favorite. I'm going to pan fry some of those chicken livers for a snack tonight. DH says he will eat them but doesn't like them as much as he used to, so this way I will eat them as a snack and he won't have to eat them. I have beef liver for liver and onions for next week.

Are you getting out with DH now?

Fatmad Hope you are feeling good today.

Have a good day everybody.

I didn't go out today. DH went to get ground beef. We want to make cabbage rolls tomorrow. I feel good enough to do it. He helps me. He will go to the local grocery tomorrow. They always have good cabbage. Also Aldi has good cabbage but they are farther away.

Trish I am glad they checked your heart good. I hope your foot massager didn't cause the stroke. I hope you see your primary doctor and he understands what happened. I get an echo on Tuesday and see my primary on Wednesday. The next week I see a woman cardiologist. I saw her in the hospital. She is a NP with my surgeon. Then I start rehab on the 7th. I can't wait to get moving more. It should help with healing, that and all the sleep I'm getting. I am not taking anything for sleep. I don't know when I see the surgeon again. I'm supposed to eat a heart healthy diet. I had ice cream today. I don't think that's on the diet but it was good! DH made hamburgers for dinner but I wasn't hungry. Tomorrow I will weigh and see where I stand.

I didn't get up until 9am but Fitbit says I only slept until 6am. I feel ok.

The cabbage rolls are in the oven. 4-5 hours. I didn't count how many I got. Maybe 40. I will make Hamish my with the leftover cabbage.

Trish I'm wondering if they should have kept you at the hospital at least another day for observation. I wish they had kept me another day but DH wouldn't like that. He wanted me home. He didn't want to have to travel there another day.
