Mad My FBG is usually some where between 113 and 116. I did have one reading at 125 a couple days ago because I over did the carbs. That usually just gets me back to behaving right and it will go back to 116 this morning. Although I don't eat extremely low carb, I don't eat too many carbs either.
Carol Sue DH Mother had 3 walkers. She had the silver one they use in the hospital and one like it with a tray on it. The last year or so she lived we got her the Hugo with the seat that I can put my purse in when I am out. I use it all the time even at home. I don't sit on it very often but it is there if I need to. I likeit because it is convinient for sitting if I do need to sit and I don't think it shouts "disabled" when I use it. I used to see a lady in the neighborhood using one walking and I didn't see a woman with a disability but someone who was exercising. I know that sounds crazy and vain. Another thing I noticed when I used the silver one in the hospital is that they don't move around as easily and smooth as the Hugo and I had to be really careful because I felt it would be much easier to fall using the silver one. With the Hugo I can go at whatever speed I want without feeling any danger. DS found a really cute one I've never seen before that is triangle shaped seat, but my rear end would not fit it comfortably if I had to sit on it. However, she also has a scooter that she uses if she is going out some where that others with them are walking long distances. I don't ever want one of those because I am afraid that would rob me of my desire to walk. I haven't said anything to DH yet but I want to go shopping for the food I want to serve Thanksgiving day and I'm thinking I could walk with my Hugo walker behind him and he could use the shoppping cart. Our Walmart never has enough riding carts and they are never ready.
I walked once today with just the cane. I've decided I will start practicing walking with it once a day until I get comfortable and then try twice a day and slowly do a little more each day until I can confidently and comfortably walk with it. I hope to be able to walk with the cane by the new year.

I'm ready waiting til its time to go to rehab. I ate scrambled eggs because they prefer you eat before exercising. I don't like this but I will go until I feel ready to exercise at home. I'm tired.
When DH had his hip surgery he started getting a cart at Walmart. We each get what we want then meet up front and combine into one cart to check out. His cart is always full of junk food and I have the things on our list. Before, he would grab things then walk around looking for me and the cart. This works better.
I will write more when I come home.

Rehab went better this time. I didn't have trouble walking alone for warm up or cool down. I did the same 3 exercises. My knee was really hurting after the recumbent bile even though I had my brace on. I might walk on my treadmill at home on the in between days. I'm just itching to get some more walking in.
Afterwards we went to Walmart but I didn't have a list. We still spent over $100 regardless.

Carol Sue I'm glad your rehab went well. I hope your knee will get better with the recumbent bike. It always helps my knee to feel better. I wish we had a treadmill. Once we decided not to turn one of our bedrooms into an office, I wanted to make it into an exercise room and put a treadmill and my bike in there, but could never talk DH into it.
I've done most of my exercise for today and still need to get on the bike and get that done. DH is cooking chicken today and I am going to cook one of the zucchinis he bought me the other day. I need to make a list and decide if I am going to go with him to the store tomorrow.
I talked to DS yesterday and he is going to either cook a turkey and bring it or they will go to the store and get a whole ready cooked meal for their part of Thanksgiving dinner. I am going to cook the candied sweet potatoes everybody likes, DH is going to make his cauliflower dish everyone likes. DS DH is going to make his green bean casserole he is known for and she is getting cheesecake. I will buy some ready made pies that I will only have to thaw out that day. DBS and her DH will cook a turkey and she will make Mama's dressing as she is the only one who remembers how to make it. Hopefully that will be enough to satisfy everybody without having a lot of leftovers.
I'm going to go get on that bike and get that done because if I don't it is too easy to forget to do it. I want to be more consistent with it.
HI all, BS was 5.5 this am. SO I think 5.6 is 100 in your country. In spite of being in ketosis every day, I have gained weight. I also gained some in the belly by measurement. Will give it a few more days. I see the doc on Wednesday and am clearly not going to have weight down when I see her, but I can't control that at this point. Will just focus on blood sugar and cravings. I am successfully doing 2MAD with a good window of about 6-7 hrs as per Diabetes code recommendations.
Got to the pool this am.
Weather this week is sunny and relatively warm for us, so plan is to do the outdoor decorations. We went and got new light clips today, for the new eavestroughs.
have a good day everyone.

Trish, my recumbent bike does wonders for my knee but the one at cardiac rehab kills it. I think it has something to do with the seat position or the tension adjustment.
My DIL and DGS came over today. They were in town because he had his yearly check up at the pediatrician in our town. He is such a sweet boy. I love him so much..
Trish for years my mother made dressing from old leftover bread but in later years she used seasoned croutons from the grocery store. Thats what I use now and taught step daughter to do that too.
I am exhausted today and plan on going to bed early.
Mad I've thought about doing only 2MAD but will probably decide to do that after Thanksgiving company leaves. DH wanted to decorate before Thanksgiving but I told him to wait until that weekend like we always do, but might change my mind.
Carol Sue You could be right about why the recumbent bike hurts your knee at rehab. I'm glad you got to see your DSD and DGS.
I talked to DH about me using the walker in the store and staying up with him while he uses the shopping cart. I explained to him that I can walk faster with the walker and if I get tired I could sit down for a few minutes. He thinks I need to start walking more to strengthen my legs and that would help with the swelling too. If they are right then I need to figure out a way to walk more often. I did get all my exercises done today.

I do 2MAD most days but I do snack, too. Its not necessarily junk food snacks, just additional eating. I do breakfast and dinner most days. DH also does lunch because he cooks a big breakfast for me but only eats a little himself.
This is a website I want to share. It shows the health benefit, pro and con, of many foods. The one I linked is the benefits of lentils. After you read it, several others will be linked below it, then if you go to the bottom you will see in small letters you can click to go to the next on the left or previous on the right. I've been reading these for hours this morning. They seem to never end. Some are foods I eat, and some are foods I should start eating based on the benefits. Trish, some say they fight cancer and some are good for anemia.
After reading about shrimp it made me want Texas Roadhouse grilled shrimp so we are going there today.
I slept good last night. I woke up with pain under my right shoulder blade. I don't know what that is, but DH wanted me to go to the hospital. I've had enough of the hospital recently and I'm not going for every little thing. If it gets too bad I will go but its better now that I'm up and moving around. I told him he wants me to go so he can go to the cafeteria.
When you go to our hospital now you have to check in with the guard and tell him who you are visiting and they give you a visitors pass. A few years ago I was very early for a doctors appointment and we went to the hospital cafeteria and ate before my appointment. You can't do that now since you have to check in with the guard. Their food is good and inexpensive.
Carol Sue Thank you for the link. You know what I will be doing? I like knowing why I should eat certain foods. I read about the lentils and now I und erstand why I have been craving them but I also see that I shouldn't eat them all the time. I will enjoy reading that site.
This has been a good day. I dressed and went to the local store with DH. I need to do this whether I feel like it or not. I ended up using a regular shopping cart. I was nervous at times but I did it any way. It made me feel so much better when I got home. I also told DH that I thought I needed to use the vibration machine but I use it as a step to get in and out of bed. He ended up hooking it up for me this afternoon and I set on my walker and put my feet on it and used it to exercise my legs and feet and my legs and feet feel so much better. So I will start using it at least once a day.
I bought some of the foods I need for Thanksgiving day. I have the rolls and 2 pecan pies in the freezer. DH bought canned yams last week, but I will need to get some more to make enough for T-Day. We need to go to Walmart next week because I want to get a couple of other pies. This year I am trying to buy frozen pies that only have to be thawed out but not cooked.
I love my bacon on my taquita and I was able to get bacon at the local store with 30% less sodium. I was glad to see it because I thought I was going to have to give it up.
I've got 1/3 of my exercises done today. My recumbent bike has been considered as 1/2 of my exercise, but now I will call it 1/3 and will count my vibrating machine as 1/3 of my exercises. A cycle on it is 10 minutes and it really did help my feet and legs. I think it just might get rid of the neuropathy or at least ease it quite a bit.
Carol Sue A lot of the foods I read about on that link is good to be eating while on chemo medication. I love shrimp and will make that a evening snack from time to time. There is a lot of information on line about healthy eating and I am enjoying reading about it.
I've been working today at cleaning up the living room. I want to work at organizing my closet and get things put away in the bedroom and bath. DH washes clothes and folds everything. That is okay for clothes I wear around the house, but not for clothes I wear out about town or when I go to the store. So I want to get those things hung up in the closet and probably take out clothes I won't be wearing again to give to Goodwill.
Hi all, fasting was 5.2 today, and just now, a couple of hours after eating, I was 4.9! I have not seen a number like that in ages. Eating ultra low carb is hard at times, and I don't know how long I can do this for. Salad and turkey thigh planned for supper tonight. there will be avocado in the salad to increase the fat. I did lose some weight, at least from the high of the last few days. Let's hope that continues, then I don't have to fast for a bit.
Had my appointment with my physician today. My bone scan showed mild bone loss. Not bad enough to need medication yet, but we reviewed my vitamin D supplements and maybe adding more calcium. I don't take a supplement and will have to research which type. Carbonate tends to cause kidney stones, both times I had stones was when I was taking carbonate supplements. I will also be asking about my fasting protocols and how that might impact my bone loss. I am glad I don't need meds, hope I can wait until after 65 when my meds will be covered.
I did get to the pool today.
Ok, that's it for me. I hope you both continue on well. Sounds like you are both getting more active. That is wonderful news and hope things keep going well that way.

Cardiac rehab went well today.
Trish, I'm glad you like that site. I do too. You know we have no way of knowing if its correct so if you aren't sure about something it says you can look that food up separately for a second opinion.
I'm glad the vibration platform is helping you. I'm going to start using mine again too. DH uses it and says it makes his legs feel better. He sits down to use it, too, not for any particular reason. I have a stool I could bring up to mine but as is I stand and hold onto my treadmill.
Today, DH got his toe caught in his pant leg and ripped his toenail off. It hurts and I'm worried about infection so I'm going to try to get a doctor appointment for him or go to Urgent care to have it checked. When his toe got caught instead of reaching down and pulling it out he just yanked it. Not good! Men!!!
I'm glad you are still doing well with fasting, Mad. And I hope you can improve your bone density.
Fatmad Glad you got some answers you needed during your doctor's appointment. I quit taking calcium years ago when I heard that the wrong one could cause a lot of problems even for you heart. I can't ever remember which ones were the bad ones so I just get my calcium from dairy like my Primary doc told me to do.
Carol Sue It is nice that your cardiac rehab went well. Sorry to hear about your DH toenail coming off. He needs to have it checked. DH has a toenail that grows back to a certain point and then comes off. Primary said he would send DH to a podiatrist but he has chosen not to, but may have to one of these days. Primary Doc says his Dad has one that does that to and he just lives with it but then his Dad is a doctor too.
Weight is starting to come down again. I hope I can keep it coming down. I did manage to all my exercises today. Almost forgot to do the dumbells but did them just a little bit ago. I've decided that it doesn't hurt to spread the exercises throughout the day. So it has been a good day.
I think we are starting to get our mojo/routine back. I think it will be easy for me to slip into my routine I want to follow as my woe after Thanksgiving. I think we all will. Fatmad y'all already had y'all's Thanksgiving in Canada and it has taken you a while but I believe you are getting there.

Sleep wasn't bad but not optimal. I have to get on the scale today. I've been skipping it for several days. I don't want to go more than a week. My number has been creeping up.
I don't take most of my supplements anymore. I still take Nac which helps with my cough and Tart Cherry at bedtime. I'm not going to buy anymore Tart Cherry once this is gone. I don't feel that is does anything unless its just the brand I buy. I may switch brands to see if there's a difference. When I started planning for my heart procedure I didn't want to have to tell them the supplements I take and I was afraid they might interfere with the meds they had to give me. I might go back to some of them.
Mad, I want to mention that the vibration platforms that Trish and I have used are said to build bone density. I don't know how you feel about them. I read about them online before buying.
Trish, an elderly man who lived across the street from us had to have toes removed because he got an injury and didn't see a doctor. He was diabetic, though. By the time his son found out it was too late. I don't want DH to wait too long to have it checked. I'm worried about infection. I'm very concerned. He said it only hurts when he walks, but not when sitting. He is ok driving. But lack of pain isn't enough. He hates seeing the doctor.
I don't know what I will do about my woe. I always try to limit carbs but not restrict them altogether. I do pretty good with limiting calories and carbs and doing 16/8 IF or at least 18/6. A 6 hour eating window works well for me. I like JUDDD but its hard for me with DH. The JUDDD forum is no longer active online. The girls who inspired me the most are gone.
Carol Sue DH really does need to have his toe looked at just to be safe. My DH toenail grows back and falls off, but it was seen by our primary doctor. He has a new nail growing on now but some of it is hanging on and I think he needs to go to a podiatrist and have it removed, but he doesn't want to go because he says it is going to hurt when they use a needle to deaden it. I'll make him go if it doesn't get better soon.
I agree with your DH that the vibration machine is strengthening my legs. I didn't know about it strenthening the bone density. That is just another good reason to use it. I know the recumbent bike does wonders for my knees.
I am taking supplements again but oncologist knows about them because I don't want to take anything that would mess up my treatment. I want to try to keep my eating window within at least 6 to 8 hrs each day.
Not sure I'm going to have as many people here for Thanksgiving as I thought. I really think DBS didn't tell her family yet because she wasn't sure I should do that. I talked to her this morning and they have 3 Thanksgiving invites for that day including mine. The difference is they don't have to cook for the other 2 so I let her off the hook and told her to go be with her kids and grandkids, etc. One of her sons has a huge family plus he married into a huge family and they always do Thanksgiving with his wife's family. Things change when kids marry. DS and her DH will still come and one of my grandsons and his 2 sons will be here. So lot less preparations to be done. DS and his wife are bringing a smoked turkey and she will cook a dressing or I will buy it already made.
I've done the recumbent bike already and will go do the vibration now that DH is up. I will get all my exercise done early today.
I have done nothing today but sit and watch tv and eat. I have to change my evil ways! My weight will probably be up tomorrow. All I can think about is I have to get up at 7 am to go to cardiac rehab. I hardly slept Tuesday night thinking about going there on Wednesday. I wish it was warmer so I could wear capris. I don't have many pants suitable to wear there. 2 of the woman wear blue jeans and one older man wears blue jeans and work boots! I have leggings but I dont want to wear them.
You are doing great keeping up with your exercise. You are inspiring me to get back to it, but not today!!
