  • Carol Sue Mrs. Dash has several different flavors and I only like the one called Garlic and Herbs. I have some in the cabinet that I need to ditch because neither DH nor I will ever use them.

When I complained at one time about my bp going up because I knew this chemo medicine would cause itg to go up because I thought I needed him to up the Lisinopril, he told me to sit for a few minutes before checking bp. He did finally raise it when I told him the oncologist told me that the medicine was going to raise bp. I don't know about you but I have noticed that the mornings I'm really busy dressing to go out to oncology appointments, my bp is usually higher than on the days I'm not that busy. Even when I've done some exercises before checking it when staying home my bp isn't as high as it is on a busier day.

I hope y'all's bp will be better soon.

I had a little bit of homemade veggie soup with crackers to warm me up. Then I had a protein shake later to ward off any hunger.

    Till tomorrow. Good night.
  • My BP is good. They check it before and after exercise at rehab.DH sometimes checks his after coming up the steps and I tell him to sit for a while. when I go to the PCP they check BP after weighing me. I told them that's a mistake. They use a machine hooked up to the wall and I don't think its right. My BP is always very low there.

I'm tired this morning and I don't want to go. We'll see.

    __________________________

I went. It wasn't so bad,but I'm still tired. The are increasing my time on each machine. I heard them tell a man that he will be doing 18_sessions so that's probably what I will be doing. So 13 more. DH stopped and got a hamburger and fries at McDonalds, but I didn't want any. I came home and cooked eggs. Gotta have my eggs!
  • Carol Sue Glad to hear your bp is good today. I guess your DH bp is okay as well? I'm sorry you are tired. I hope you will feel better soon. Maybe a nap will help if you have time to get one.

I have spent the morning getting final things done for company to come in Wednesday. DH will go to the store tomorrow. He wanted me to go with him, but I want to be able to do a few more things tomorrow like dust furniture and sweep and mop kitchen and DR floors as well as get all my exercises done. I had a tendency to just make the cleaning I had to do be my exercises today but I feel like my exercises are doing such good for me legs that I decided to go ahead and do my Mon-Fri exercises along with the other things I had to do. I don't want to get in the habit of making cleaning count as my exercise. I would rather it be extra that isn't counted.

I kind of feel like a nap today myself. Hope everybody has a day.
  • I was happy to see 168 on the scale this morning. I had slight potty issues overnight so I'm assuming that's the reason for the weight loss but thats ok. It was mild. If also remembered to take my second fluid pill yesterday. I often forget until its 8 pm or later and I like to take it around 5-6. We didn't have a real dinner. We got onion rings and breaded mushrooms from the local pizza shop. They were probably high sodium. I was going to make spaghetti and I know DH doesn't like that much.

DH is a little better. Sometimes his blood pressure is up and sometimes its ok. I'm worried and wish he would go to the hospital. I keep thinking about his 2 brothers.

DH just went down the cellar steps and took the garbage out to the curb, then came back up the cellar steps. Then he checked BP and it was 200+ over 100+. What did he expect!! He rested for a while and it was 130 over 70. I told him that's his blood pressure.

I hope we all have a good day today.
  • Carol Sue I'm glad you saw 168 this morning. I was thrilled to see 159.8 again this morning. I know it won't be that low again until I get back OP after the kids leave to go back home and I get back on my lower carb woe.

I considered my bp high today because it 135/6? this morning, but doctor would say it is normal. I think your DH bp being that high after doing stairs and taking trash out to the street etc is normal. I agree the fact that it came down like it did is normal bp. I think that is why my Primary doctor told me to sit down and wait a few minutes relaxing before checking my bp. Now I take my bp before I go to the doctor so that when it is up from them checking it, I can tell them what mine was at home. I also don't drink even the decaf coffee before I go to the doctor.

I talked to DDIL this morning and she is cooking so much food herself that we are going to have a lot of food. It's a good thing I didn't have DH get anything for me to make pies. She is bringing a zero sugar apple pie and a pumpkin pie. Besides making the dressing she is making a broccoli/rice casserole and they are bringing 15 lb smoked turkey. There will be 7 adults and 2 toddlers so we will have plenty of food.

Carol Sue are you cooking your pies today or have you done them already?

Hope everybody has a good day.
  • Trish, I am looking forward to getting into the 150s but I am not staying on plan very well.

I will bake my pies tomorrow, after rehab. It will be an all day thing. I'm making 6 pumpkin pies, A cherry pie, and brownies. I took my turkey out of the freezer to defrost but I don't know for sure when I'm cooking it. I wanted to cook it Friday, but I have to go for an echocardiogram. It might have to wait until Saturday.

Two pies will be for us because DH will have one gone before Thanksgiving. Two will be for Stepdaughter and the other 2 will be if someone wants to take a whole pie home. The cherry pie will be in case someone doesn't like pumpkin pie and also the brownies. My grandson loves brownies so he can take home whatever doesn't get eaten.

I was very surprised that DH would even consider checking his BP after coming up the stairs! Anyone who ever has heart issues is told to avoid stairs as stair climbing is very hard on the heart.
  • I can't remember which Mrs Dash I bought but I didn't like it and probably won't buy any more.

Here is a website you might like.

    https://athome.ctvn.org/recipes/

This was a tv show on our local Christian station. The woman has since passed away but they still broadcast her shows. I've made a lot of the recipes from her show.

I was already in bed but my stomach was growling so I got up and ate some scrambled eggs. Yummy!

I spent the evening online paying bills. I'm stressed because I'm having a hard time getting a replacement for the credit card that was hacked, so I've decided to apply with a different card company. Too much trouble with the company I'm dealing with. We still can use the account because DH is also on the account and we can use his card. It just makes me mad because they are giving me such a runaround because I was the victim. I did nothing wrong. I've been a good customer for years, except I pay in full every month and they earn no interest from me. So I'll move on.

Cardiac rehab again tomorrow. I meant to walk on my treadmill over the weekend but I didn't get to it. I did walking in Walmart but thats it. I didn't even walk at a casino.

DHs blood pressure has been good all day and he says he feels better. Thank God! I'm hoping for another drop on the scale.
  • Carol Sue Thanks for the recipe site. I saved it to my favorites.

Boy that is a lot of pies to cook. Do you make your own pie crusts too? I used to when DH#2 was living because he insisted on it once he knew I was a good cook, he expected to do everything from scratch. Thank God DH#3 doesn't care whether it is from scratch or store bought. Plus he is so picky that there are only few that are his favorites. DH#2 expected 2 of each kind of pie I made and Christmas was worse than that.

I was going to switch back to low carb but I read that the best diet for the heart and low cholesterol/bp is no longer Mediterranean but DASH Diet. It explained the importance of eating enough fiber. So I think I will continue on the DASH Diet along with IF.

I had a phone call today from my hospital to see how I am doing after the stroke. I shared with her what the Vascular doc had told me and she wanted to know what meds I was on and I told her I'm on the meds the hospital doctor sent me home on. She said the only thing she could tell me to do now was eat and enjoy everything I wanted for Thanksgiving. Of course they were also me to score how good my hospital stay was. However, I appreciate them checking on me. One thing I thought was interesting is that they wanted to know if I would know if I was having a stroke in the future. I told her no I would not but DH would know. That seemed to satisfy them.

I hope you will have a good nights sleep and enjoy your pie making. I get my CT Scan in the morning and pray it is good news although I won't hear anything until next week.
  • I use refrigerated pie crust for all my pies. DH does not like home made pie crust because his mothers was not flaky. That's ok because that saves me some work.

I have heard a lot about stroke so I think I might know if I'm having one. Stroke is high risk with my conditions.

I hope your scan goes well.

On Friday I go at 7:45 for the Echo. DH wants me to get the blood work afterwards but I'm going to wait until Monday. I don't want to do it after eating Thanksgiving dinner and I want to enjoy my meal.
  • Carol Sue I wouldn't want to do blood work after Thanksgiving Day eating either. I pray your Echo goes well too. Headed to bed early tonight because I have to get up early tomorrow morning. Sleep well. I hope I do because I don't usually sleep well before early morning appointments.

    Goodnight.
  • I didn't really sleep well. I'm tired but exercising should pep me up. My weight is up 1 lb to 169 but I know that yesterday's weight was due to the potty issues. I just have to keep on trying.
  • I slept as good as I could for knowing I needed to getas soon as possible before 7am plus I peed all night because I drank so much water trying to be hydrated for lab and the IV die for the CT Scan. Now we are home and I am having my coffee I couldn't have earlier because of fasting. Carol Sue do you have to fast for an Echo? I don't remember since I had mine when I was in the hospital. One nice thing about having labs today, I don't have to have another one next Thursday when I have my infusion.

Now we are just waiting for the kids to come in. I'm looking forward to seeing them now that I am sure they are really coming. I have been hearing "coming to see you this year Mama" for a good 20 yrs. I kept waiting for them to back out, but I guess they are actually on the road and should be half way here. I figure they'll be here around 1ish.

It was really cold here this morning. In the 30s and oncology is always cold. I put one of my heavy coats on and it is way too big. I don't have a coat that fits any more. In fact, most of my clothes are too big even the 1Xs I bought this year. I will try to make it through this year with the coats I have because I really don't want to buy another one until I get to the size I want to be. I've looked for new ones and I haven't seen any I really like yet.

Well I'm going to try to have a nap before they get here as well as get some exercises done. Don't know if I will have time to check back in here while the kids are here so I will wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving.

  • Trish, do you have a Goodwill in your town? If so, you might be able to find a coat there that can get you thru this winter until you are at your goal weight. I have found things there that look like they are barely worn. DH used to hate when I even looked at clothing there until the saw some of the very nice things I have found there. On Monday it is senior day and you get 25% off, and every week there is a color of the week (color of the tag) and those are all half off. On Sunday, anything from the color of the week is 99¢. A couple weeks ago I got a hooded leather coat for 99¢. It had been marked $40. No one bought it, even at $20 when it was half off, so it was still there on Sunday. We were there today and there is a really nice leather coat that will be 99¢ on Sunday. Its too small for me and I don't need any more coats. I really love Goodwill. Its great when you're losing weight and you don't want to buy clothes you know will be too big in a few months.

I'm so glad you are going to spend this holiday with your family.. I pray all goes well.

Today step daughter said she wants my help so I will go to her house at 7 am to help with the turkey. She is learning and becoming a competent hostess.
  • Carol Sue Yes we do have a Goodwill here in town. I had a friend years goa whose family was very wealthy. I was surprised when we went to her parents home and she showed me some of her Mother's clothes and she told me that her Mother might where a dress one time then give it to Goodwill. I learned a lot of wealthy women did that. I could look there for a coat that would fit. Thanks for telling me.

The kids got here around 12:45. They bought fried chicken for our main meal so we haven't done much of anything except visit. I will make the candied sweet potatoes tomorrow but DDIL is cooking so much food that I don't have to cook that. We have had a lot of fun with them.

I think it is nice your Step daughter asked you to help her. Enjoy your day and have a Happy Thanksgiving and I'll catch you on the other side of it.

I'm going to bed early cause it has been a long day and it is barely 10:20 pm. Good night.
  • Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends!! Dont eat too much!!
