Carol Sue I am glad you were able to sleep even if it wasn't as good as it needed to be. It is just good you were able to sleep. Also glad they said you could take your Metphormin and your bs was down to 148. I also want to stop sitting so much too.

Today is day 7 of this round of chemo and I go for lab work tomorrow at 10:30 am. I should start having more energy soon. I am able to do more things. I am now able to use my master bathroom without DH help. I was able to put on my compression sleeves yesterday by myself so hopefully I will soon be able to dress myself without his help. I actually plan to use my walker tomorrow when I go for my lab. It is one of those nice Hugo's (hope I spelled it right) that was DH DM when she was living. It is nice because I can also sit on it. It will be good for me to start walking with it more and more to make my legs stronger. I still get a little shakey sometimes so I think I'm going to start weaning myself off the sleeping pills.

We are having steaks today with our salad and I plan to have a serving of broccoli as well.

Have a good day everybody.

Trish, I have heard those walkers called by a variety of names. I have one that I got at Goodwill for $15. They are $100 or more new and this one is in very good condition. It has the seat and under the seat is a place for storage. I bought it in case I ever need it. I also have a silver one that Medicare gave to my MIL but she never used it. I would rather have it and not need it.

You are doing very well in doing more things for yourself. I'm so glad to hear that.

I hope your steaks were good. DH wants stuffed cabbage tomorrow but we will have to get up very early to go to the store. I usually buy the stuff then make them the next day but we didn't get to the store today.

My blood sugar was down to 79 this evening. I ate a few of DHs French fries to bring it up a bit because I don't like it too low overnight. I hope my weight is back down too so I don't have to call the doctor.

TamTam, I heard a hurricane is brewing. I hope you are not in its path!! .

Well, I heard its on the west coast.

We did not get up early enough to go to the store for the ingredients for stuffed cabbage. We did go late so I can make it tomorrow. I think we will have home made hamburgers tonight unless DH has other ideas.

My weight is coming back down so I don't have to call the doctor. I just took my fluid pill now because I didn't want to take it before going to the store. My blood sugar is getting back to normal. This morning it was only 69 but when I eat it goes higher than it usually does. But I'm not getting any 200s or 300s. I think they gave me more steroid in the hospital than they did for the scan.

I just read the report from my Cat Scan. I don't understand everything but it sounds like I am going to die any minute! Honestly, my health is exactly the same as it was before I read it. This is a very weird feeling, although I knew there were things wrong with my heart.

Normally I take my fluid pill as soon as I get up and I don't pee a lot. Today I took it when we got home from the store instead and I'm peeing buckets. I wonder which is better. (I just read online that it should be taken first thing, but my fluid is usually low then from not drinking overnight.)

Its cool here today. I had to wear a sweater when we went out. Football weather! Its supposed to get hot again in a few days.

Carol Sue My walker is the same as yours. I always liked it because I can carry my purse and any other things that I might need when using it.

I understand how reading the Cat scan must sound to you. When I read the the CT scan I had before surgery, it made me wonder how healthy I was if at all. Not that your situation is serious, but I think they word things as severely as they can in order to get the insurance companies to understand how serious it is so they will cover it. I know my oncologists had a problem getting the insurance to cover my CT scan. I hope I don't have the same problem with the one I am to get next week.

Glad to hear your bs and weight is back down. I pray you will be able to have your procedure easily and be home recovering within a few days. Prayers continue for your.

I used the walker to walk from the car in to get my blood drawn. I was shakey at first but felt good when I walked to the car. Then when I got ready to get back in the car, I was able to use my hands to lift my legs into the car without DH help. We left there and went to the big local store and I used the electric cart to shop with DH. It felt so good to go shopping for a change. When we got home, I decided to try changing my clothes and I'm thrilled to say I was able to do it by myself. So many new improvements in one day. I am so proud of myself and do so thank God for helping me because I couldn't do it without Him.

Today DBS told me that her DSIL diet last Friday. She had leukemia and we thought she was on a medication that is supposed to cure her and keep her from having it again. When they took her to the hospital last week, the doctor told her family that she had stopped taking her medicine some time back, but didn't want to tell them. She came too long enough to appologize to her DH and family but never knew who they were afterwards. I feel so sorry for her DH and family. She was a sweet lady but dealt a lot with depression and I guess all of it was just too much for her. I was shocked, but I do understand how she could give up.

Tam Tam I agree with Carol Sue. I hope you aren't in line for the hurricane.

Hope everybody is having a nice day.

Trish, I am so happy you are getting your strength back and able to do so much for yourself! Thats wonderful.

I fell asleep in my recliner then went to bed so Fitbit says I slept 9 hours. I usually start the cabbage rolls at 9 to put them in the oven at 11. But DH got up and started blanching the cabbage at 7. They cabbage rolls went into the oven at 9 and will be done at 1 pm. I got 30 small ones. Then I made Halushki with the leftover cabbage. So I have lots of activity in already today. When the cabbage rolls come out I will bake a pie with the rest of the apples from step son. Its a busy Saturday for me.

Weight is back down to 170. One more lb and I will be back to 169. I can't seem to get below that.

I wonder why DBS SIL stopped taking the medication. Maybe the side effects were too much. There's a lot to be said about quality of life. That is sad for the family, but we know, she's gone to a better place. May she rest in peace.

I hate to see summer come to an end but this breeze we have right now is very refreshing.

Carol Sue You must need the sleep and then maybe staying busy is helping you to sleep. I personally believe it is good for us to stay as busy as we possibly can. With your procedure coming up, you probably need the combo to help it go well for you. Your 170 won't last long, probably not a lasting thing. I will have the surgeons office weigh me when I go see her Wednesday.

I too wondered if DBIL SIL was experiencing some sort of side effects or maybe she just got tired of it all. I didn't realize that she had the leukemia for 7 years. Maybe she didn't think it was curing it or that it was worth it. I had a few times when I felt so bad and thought this was just too hard and I wondered if it was fighting to live, but I have never really wanted to give up and throw in the towel. Life is worth fighting for and I want my family to know that cancer can be beat. DH first wife's brother's daughter had breast cancer years ago when we moved to SC. She is a cancer survivor and then had their surprise 3rd baby and she is an inspiration to me even to this day. She was on tv at times to let people know that cancer doesn't have to defeat you.

I didn't take the sleeping pill last night because I wanted to see how I would do without it. I went to bed a little earlier and slept until after 8 am almost 7 hrs. I didn't sleep in the recliner this morning because I call my daughter on Saturday and I call my son on Sunday mornings. I think I will just keep the pills to take on those nights when I can't sleep. Just took my tylenol like I used to do and did well. I'll probably get a cat nap later today.

DH helped me get out of bed and got my protein sake, orange juice and water and I told him to go back to bed because I could dress and do everything else myself. This morning walking back from the bathroom I decided to see if I could use the recumbant bike by myself. I actually was able to get my feet in the peddle stirups and rode it for 2.21 minutes. I quit because my right leg started hurting plus I had a tea bag steeping in my coffee cup. I've started drinking iced tea during the day hoping it will help get the fluid off a little faster.

We are having spaghetti today. DH like Chef Boyerdee canned spaghetti and I can't stand it because DH#2 and I lived on it for a short time of financial problems and I lost my taste for it. I got me a frozen Spaghetti and meatballs tv dinner so we both got what we like and it is easy to fix. He found some TX toast in freezer I forgot we bought some time or other. Will have our salad and cantaloupe.

Hope everybody has a nice day.

We baked an apple pie again but only had 1 crust so I made a crumble crust for the top. DH put it in the oven without the baking pan under it but I caught it with the corner of my eye and we put it under. Thank God! Last time clear juice ran out but this time it was thick brown syrup that hardened to the baking pan. What if that would have run out over my new oven!!! The baking pan might be ruined but that's an extra one and only costs a few dollars. I don't know why it was thick brown syrup. DH might have put more cinnamon in.

Step daughter came over and I gave her some cabbage rolls. We have 10 left for tomorrow.

I don't think I ever ate Chef Boyardee spaghetti but the kids ate it all the time. I sometimes buy a box spaghetti mix similar to Kraft Mac and Cheese. It makes a small amount. When I worked, I used to take a single serve Chef Boyardee Ravioli for lunch.

Not much happening here today. DH put a beef roast and veggies in crock pot before he went to bed so dinner is actually ready. I am looking forward to eating some of it. He is becoming quite a cook. He still doesn't like doing it but he does a good job.

Carol Sue I am glad y'all caught things in time to keep your oven from getting so dirty. I agree a pan is cheaper to replace or even clean.

I got the results of my blood test and my CA 125 was up 23 points. I'm not sure why. I guess I will find out when I see the surgeon Wednesday.

Have a good day everyone.

Trish, I'm sorry to hear you CA 125 went up. I'm glad you only have til Wed to find out more information. Its terrible when you have a longer wait.

I've never cooked anything overnight. I hope it turns out good. DH is a dear to do this even though he doesn't like to. He's doing what he can to help.

I'm not hungry. DH ate leftover cabbage rolls, one of the few leftovers he will eat. Its early though and he might want something else. I ate a small piece of pie to try it so I don't need any more carbs.

Carol Sue The only thing I think I've ever cooked overnight in the crockpot was probably beans. DH did a good job with the roast although he had way too much liquid with it. He can't hear very well and I told him to put liquid up over the meat, but he didn't hear me say just over the meat and filled the crockpot with fluid. I will use it as broth when I want something but don't need to eat. Looks like we are going to have roast for most of this week.

I got up kind of early this morning. Vitals are good. Although bp is up for me, it is actually normal so maybe I won't have the side effect of high bp when they start my new treatments on the 31st. I have done .75 miles in, 10 minutes on the recumbent bike, my squats and what I call wall pushups, etc. I still have dumbells to do and DH came in the other day with this little pouch he found in the car wanting to know what it was. God only knows how and why it was in the car. It was the rubber ribbons I bought to do resistant exercises with. So I will start using those today too to exercise legs and arms. I plan to do at least 3 days of those this week since I have appointment with surgeon Wednesday and CT scan Thursday mornings. I am so thankful that I can use the bike without having DH help me because I always liked getting my exercises done early in the mornings while he is sleeping.

It took me years to train myself to eat less meals with IF so I've decided to do 2 meals and a very small snack each day and at least keep them within 8 hrs for now. Since I need fruit, I have fruit with my protein shake in the morning and a little fruit with dinner and then have a little something for a snack which is usually a scoop of carb smart ice cream or an ice cream bar. That seems to be a psychological message to myself that says "That's it for today". It also helps keep my calories down where they should be.

Carol Sue Have you heard anything else about your procedure as to about when you will be having it and which one they will be doing? Prayers still going up for you.

Tam Tam, Fatmad and lurkers: Hope all is going well with y'all.

Have a nice day everyone.

We went out for breakfast this morning. I only ordered 2 eggs over well. $2.99 The server said "Is that all??". I didn't tell her if it was up to me I wouldn't be there. DH gets the mini sampler and I used to get it and give him my sausage but I was eating hash browns that I didn't really want. I know that most people go to Bob Evans and order a huge breakfast but if I did that it would be it for the rest of the day. I like their hash browns but they are too high in calories and carbs. For some reason DH likes to go out for breakfast. Then we went to Goodwill and Dollar General. I used to buy batteries for my Blood sugar meter in a little store that had a card of 5 for $1. That store closed. Everyone else wants $6 for 2. Amazon has 2 for $1.99 but $7 shipping unless you spend $35. I don't need anything else right now.

I does not see the doctor until Sept 7. I will get more info then. I have to get dental work done first and I don't see the dentist until Sept 6. So it will be a while. Maybe not until 2024.

I'm glad you are getting some exercise in. I need to do that, too.

I want to make zucchini bread today.

Carol Sue DH buys most of our batteries at Sam's when they are on sale, but the ones for our diabetic meters and watches I'm pretty sure he gets at Amazon now. He used to buy them from Harbour Frieght but we haven't gone there since the chemo treatments started.

I hope you won't have a lot of dental work to be done before your procedure. I still need to get my one cavity fixed but oncologist said I had too many fish to fry which means I can't have it done now. I really need to get them cleaned and see if the chemo has caused any more cavities. I will try to ask the surgeon about that tomorrow.

Well today is my 80th birthday so I made it to 80. I was born on my grandmother's birthday. She lived to be 80 and died the April before she turned 81. I often wondered if I would live to 80 because Mama, her sisters and most of her brothers didn't live that long. I think she had one sister who made it to 70 and I think one brother may have lived tp be in his 70s. DS and I think we get our longevity genes from our Daddy's family most of them to be in ther 80s. Any way, I'm still here.

I am sleeping very well without the sleeping pill now. Haven't taken it for about 3 nights now. I do a lot of different exercises now but they add up to approximately 40 to 45 minutes in all. DH was looking through YouTube and found some exercises to do for improving or even reversing neuropathy so I added some of those that I can do now and will add the others as my balance improves. They named some medicine that helps so I might talk to primary about giving prescription for trimadol or gabapatin (sp). I have some scriptures I read as prayers while I am on the recumbent and ended up riding it for 11.49 minutes so maybe next week I can up it to 15 minutes and actually end up doing one mile. The exercise probably helps me sleep. I sleep about 5 to 6 hrs in bed and then usually get a couple of hrs altogether in the recliner during the day so probably get at least 7 hrs total for the day. It feels good to be moving around more.

DH is cooking pork chops today since I'm not ready to go out to eat yet. Could go but I have to go see surgeon in the morning early and for CT scan Thursday early and I just didn't want to have to get dressed to go out somewhere 3 days in a row. I checked my schedule and if all goes according to plan, my last maintenance infusion should be done so that day 21 falls on Thanksgiving day. I'll know more about that tomorrow, but since the CT scan won't be done till the day after I see her I won't get those results until the 31st when I see the regular oncologist.

Y'all have a good day everybody.

Happy Birthday, Trish! 80 years is definitely a milestone! Today is step daughter's anniversary, 31 years. No one thought their marriage would last.

My PCP gives me Tramadol for pain but I haven't had it filled for a couple years. Tylenol Arthritis does just as well. I took Gabapentin for shingles and my friend takes it for restless leg. I believe it is a nerve medicine.

_________________________

Not a good day at the casino. He never gets tired of losing. He didn't lose it all, just part of it. 1/3 maybe. I got a lot of reading in. Someone on Twitter posted an article that said that our eating window should be earlier in the day, starting no later than 9am and no longer than 10 hours. I wanted to understand why so I googled and found several articles that I read in the food court at the casino. It seems that our metabolism is higher earlier in the day and wanes as the day goes on. That reflects how I ate when I was single, always eating breakfast and lunch but rarely dinner. And my weight never went over 130. Only after DH wanted me to eat dinner with him did that change. The good thing is, we now eat dinner around 3-4 pm so I can have a 6-8 hour window.

I hope your pork chops turned out good. Next time I make them I'm putting them in the slow cooker. If I fry them DH cooks his too long then complains that they are hard and tough.
