I'm not sure how serious I can take my weight loss this AM. I weighed in after my 3 miler so I think it's a little lower than it should be. I think I need to reevaluate my calories too. I'm 5' 6.5", 170 lbs, and have a job where I'm on my feet constantly, plus I run 3x/week (3+ miles), walk 3x/week (2-3miles), and do strength training 2x-3x/week. I've been eating 1200-1500 calories, mostly closer to 1200. Any thoughts?
lene1974: are you feeling okay? Your weight loss rate for the month seems reasonable to me. I like 2 to 4 pounds in a month. Your weight loss since August 16 is pretty fast -- did you change something then? If you did, maybe split the difference? If you were closer to 1500 in the days before then and you've been near 1200 in the last few days, maybe your sweet spot is 1350?
Cheerilos make sure to get plenty of water today so it can flush off!
Jacqui just ignore the scale for awhile and keep at it, I will cross my fingers your body stops being stubborn before the end of the month. Even if it doesn't, you are doing awesome and it'll have to woosh off eventually!!
lene I guess it depends on your intake before and during your run how much it would have changed your weigh in. If you were drinking enough water to replace whatever you were sweating out, it may be right on the money, if you drank more it may be higher than it really is. But the most likely is that you didn't drink enough to replace what your body uses during the run so it also may be an inflated loss. Either way you are doing awesome! Keep it up!
In terms of the cals, are you feeling super hungry, more tired than normal, or cranky or anything? If you are maybe consider sticking to the 1500 side of things. Make sure those extra calories are from nutritious things and not junk. maybe add some avocado to your sandwiches, or add a protein shake after your workouts.
ETA: congrats Gardener!!!
This morning the water is still flushing off from sat night. I have my first day at a new job, woot! I am working customer service on campus in the parking and transportation dept. Tonight is also D&D. So we will see how today goes with sticking to plan. The job is part time but I have no idea how long she will want me there today so I am going to bring one of my meal bars and some almonds in my purse, as well as a bottle of water that I can refill. For D&D I am going to have some string cheese or greek yogurt before we go and bring sparkling water with me so I am not tempted by soda.
Tuscany - What a great reward, you get to fit back into your awesome skinny wardrobe. I have a decend Loft wardrobe around what I weigh now. But I can't wait to get lower to my ~150 wardrobe. I have a couple classic pieces (nothing like yours!!!) but they just look so much better! I haven't weighed 130 since high school, but when I get there, I think I'll go to my parent's attic and look around. Should be funny

Despite the fact I got off and on the scale multiple times after seeing that number, I don't actually believe it. Since I just starting weighing daily this week (had been weighing weekly), I don't have any experience with day to day fluctuations. Also yesterday was my fast day (only ate dinner) so I'm thinking that might have caused the number to appear lower than it really is.
But since I have only lost 1 pound in the last 3 weeks, I would be really happy to see that number stick around for the rest of the month.
Thanks to everyone for the welcomes!
lene, I don't know enough about daily weighing to give any advice, but I still want to congratulate you on your loss.
gardenerjoy, congrats on your new low!
pnkrckpixikat, I haven't been off the soda long enough that it still doesn't tempt me. Good luck tonight and stay strong.

I am having a weird day. Woke up this morning, and it honestly smelt like some one took a crap in the bed. My fiancée has "poot" problems and it was so bad I got so nauseous and had to get up early and leave the bed room. I did some house work and after I finished and sat down for a moment, when I went to go stand up again I got light headed and dizzy and my vision started to turn all black. When I went to go lay back down, the smell was so bad in the bedroom, I couldn't even lay down on my own bed! I curled up on a chair in the sitting room and napped and started to think about calling out from work when my boss called me and said that SHE was calling out from work, which meant I needed to go. I was so tired and lethargic this morning and with me feeling like I almost blacked out, I was not looking forward to work.
So a few questions for you guys, have you ever gotten that light headed black tunnel thing before? What do you do to keep it from happening?
Also... my fiancée and his rancid bodily functions that are SO bad I actually get nauseous. I have spoken to him before about it be he thinks its a joke. Should I go push him to see a doctor? Make him change his diet? I don/t know what to do anymore. Its getting to be really frequent and bad that I cant even sleep next to him.
Bleu maus,
That's pretty bad , my ex had that once. . Lol we had just eaten, and went to bed shortly after. He tooted in the bed, I threw up everywhere, all over the room, it was bad... . I would check around to see if it's normal for some people before taking him in and possibly having him embarrassed to find out how smelly his "normal" is. But it could be his diet..when I overeat, or eat lots of carbs I am terribly gassy TMI, sorry but it's something to look into. What about having him try beano before dinner?

I was very happy with the scales this morning...a 1lb drop...woohoo!! I can't wait to drop below 150 (which for me will mean no longer overweight). That's been a mini-goal of mine for a long time and I'm finally going to get there!

Turtle: You're doing terrific…and, yes, your mini-goal seems to be sticking.
Lene: It looks like you stumbled onto something with the sleeping pills. Given your description of your activity, I think 1,200 is too low. I'd be more inclined to go with 1,400-1,500. That said, a lot depends on how you feel eating your current calories and how much you lose (now that you've removed the sleeping pills and you're able to see a normal weight-loss trend). You might need a little while to work through all the variables and find something you're comfortable with. I hope you're able to get enough sleep, having removed the pills.
Joy: You gotta love new lows!!
Jacqui: Good for you getting back to 197. I'll keep my fingers crossed for 196 soon!
bg124: I'm quite sure about the 30's…you stay OP and you'll be there next month!
Pixi: Way to get back into the 240's!
Tray: Nice loss…but there you go making me tired with barre and bootcamp again!
Leah: TOM along with new BCP are bound to reek havoc into your numbers for a few days…this too shall pass.
Bleu: Light-headedness is often due to low blood pressure, which mean you might not be eating enough, you might have simply gotten up too quickly, or you might have a health issue. I can't really say. I'd keep an eye on things and if it gets to be habitual you should likely have it checked out. I can't help you with your fiance!
Sum: Hang in there…you CAN do this!
junebug: You're doing well so far!
Blynnstrecker: You must have been happy to see the scales yesterday…nice loss!
cheeriloos: Staying away from refined carbs has always worked well for me too. You've done really well this month, despite the recent 0.8 gain.
Stay Puft: Welcome and Congratulations on recently dropping into ONEderland!! Once you've tracked your weight daily for a while, you'll come to understand your ups and downs…just don't get too concerned about any ups if you've stayed OP, since increases will simply represent water retention.
I was so happy with yesterday's weight that I am repeating it today. I tried weighing last night and it was 203! Holy makeral that is a lot of fluctuation. I will not be weighing in the evening again. Ever.
Tuscany, congrats on losing a pound! It must be so exciting to be that close to getting out of the overweight category. I'm really happy for you.
bg124, sorry you aren't feeling well, but good job on maintaining your low.
I thought for sure I would gain this morning, in part because I did tons of exercise yesterday and I figured I'd retain water. Plus I ate more than usual yesterday, 'cause I was hungry from all the exercise. My extra eating was all healthy stuff. I had an extra large salad with my supper, plus I added a bowl of fresh kiwi, melon & pineapple...yummy! So, I was REALLY happy to see no change this morning!

bg124: Way to go in maintaining your new low. That can be an accomplishment in itself, as I experienced this morning. I think your Treat Day plan sounds very sensible. I also think it's far better to indulge yourself with a Treat Day now and then, if the alternative would be feeling deprived, slowly losing motivation and giving up on your diet altogether. My Treat Day is reserved for September, when I will be in Europe!
Stay Puft: Congrats to you for maintaining yesterday's weight, since I know you thought it was a fluke, just like I thought mine was. I can't tell you how happy I will be to get below 150. I will be dancing all around the house that morning! And, yes, you typically weigh at least 3-4 lbs more in the evenings than in the mornings. I always weigh myself first thing in the morning at approximately the same time (after going to the bathroom and wearing only my panties!).
Good luck to everyone else with their morning weigh-ins and with staying OP today!
Puft, congrats on the new low! Lol, it's never a good idea to weigh at night!
Aw, bg, thank you! Congrats on maintaining your low! You go for that treat day. You deserve it!
Tuscany, you are killing that scale! Good for you!
Bleu, I have experienced near black outs while standing up quickly lots of times throughout my life (yo-yo dieter here). I just stop and hold on to something and it passes. You need to stand up slowly to have that not happen.
Leah, no doubt that's water retention. Hang in there!
Turtle, it will drop soon for both of us!
Thanks Pixikat! Still waiting on that whoosh! You are doing great!
Congrats, Joy!
Looking good, Lene! It seems to me that you are right on target calorie and exercise-wise. You definitely don't want to go down in calories because of how much you exercise. That would stall your metabolism, If anything I would stay in the 1200-1500 range (although 1200 may be too low for how much you are exercising) and then have a 2000-2500 day every once in a while to shock my system into moving again. You can't gain a real pound on 2000-2500 calories, especially while exercising!
Cheeri, hang in there! After a slowdown comes a whoosh!
Staypuft, that's what happens at night for me too,i have been doing it recently to know what to expect in the morning.. seems like I am way off because, one night I went to bed 243 woke up 238, last night went to bed at 239 expecting 237 got 238.6.lol I probably shouldnt trust the scale at night anymore eith e r
