Staypuft I usually weigh around 9, if I weigh earlier than 8 I tend to be up to .5 heavier and if I weigh later than 10 I will sometimes show lighter then what my 9am number is, these are all fluctuations based on biological processes but can still throw me off. I weigh before I eat or drink anything and after I have used the potty.

Similarly, sometimes I will forget to weigh before I go for a run (usually this is fairly early) and will weigh after the run, which means after sweating off a ton of water and downing a bottle or two more. Sometimes this weight will show me with a fluctuation up from drinking more than I sweated, or a new low that is gone the next day, from sweating more than I drank so the water replaced itself later. For example today I weighed at 6:45 before the run: 248.6 and after the run and a bottle of water at 8:00 248.0 For todays weight I am keeping the 248.6 and hoping that it means I will see the 248.0 again soon since I am pretty sure I sweated out alot more than I drank.

8/1: 251.4
8/2: 250.6
8/3: 250.2
8/4: 251.4
8/5: 251.6
8/6: 250.6
8/7: 249.4
8/8: 251.6

Puft, after reading what Pixikat wrote, I have to correct what I wrote earlier. You can have an inaccurate reading on the way down because of water lost after you've exercised. Your body does have to have a balance of water and if you sweat away water lbs, as soon as you drink, you will gain those lbs back. If you weigh before you drink, that lower weight could be considered a fluke.

Jaqui I sure hope so!! Apparently my "small" goals before were too big so now I'm trying baby steps.

The whoosh fairy is smiling down on me today! I'm back down to 197!

Leah, I think your strategy works!

Tuscany, That's fantastic!

Cheeri, wtg on the drop!

Hi Ellie! You just joined! Now just set a goal that you'd like to reach by the end of the month and we'll help you reach it! There are only a few days left in August, but it's still enough time to make a small goal, like maybe losing a pound or maintaining what you've already lost until the new month starts. (GardenerJoy will start a new thread for us in September.) I am trying to reach 196 lbs by the end of the month!

Thanks to everyone for the info about weighing at the same time. I'm up a different times depending on my plans for the day so I guess I'll have to live with a little fluctuation from that. I at least weigh after the bathroom and before I eat or drink anything.

Tuscany, you've had a great month! Congrats on being in the 140s!!!!!! Way to go!

Jacqui_D, nothing you can do about TOM gain, but know it isn't real. Even when nature is being especially cruel about a second TOM.

pnkrckpixikat, thanks for all the info. A friend and I are going to start the C25K program when the weather gets cooler (probably late October). So I hope to be a runner like you next year. You are ending the month with some great weight loss!

cheeriloos, so glad the scale is moving for you again.

elliemackay07, welcome! I joined late as well. Just jump on in!

See turtle, just what I predicted! lol

sum thats great!!! keep it up

staypuft you dont have too much fluctuation so far, just try to remember that the scale is a tool, an inaccurate tool. As long as the over all trend is downward that is all that matters because there will always be water weight fluctuations, or more or less food being processed through your system etc..... I am flattered you call me a runner I can only jog for about a minute at this point before my lungs demand I stop. But I am trying and thats what is important right? Good luck with c25k when you start, I wish you better luck than me

Thanks everyone, I agree, smaller can be so much better. Now I'm considering maintaining for the month of September or maybe for two weeks. I'm curious if a forced plateau such as a period of maintaining can jump start weight loss. But my birthday is at the end of September and I would like to lose as much as possible for that.

Well, I had a week last week. I got a severe sinus infection, which then moved to my chest and I had to go to the ER. I'm doing better now, but haven't been able to workout obviously.

I was down to 170, but that was definitely due to loss of appetite and illness. Back now and ready to finish off August strong!
