*********_ WELCOME! Once you've been a member for 20 days and done 20 posts, minimum, then you can make a signature with a ticker. I just got mine yesterday. Glad to have you joining us and the tree sounds like a great idea.
Shan-keep at it, you already know how...just look at the weight you've lost so far!
I posted somewhere about a NSV from yesterday, but not on here, so I'll repeat it. It's my favorite so far. For over a year, I have not been able to reach down and disengage the parking brake. Yesterday, I finally could. I did it again twice today, just because I could. LOL! But it means I'm making progress in a way that the scale can't measure...something that is tangible and useful. Yaay!

As for me, I'm losing the weight I gained from my two days of overeating. I'm down 1.5lbs in one day. Must have been alot of water! 3.5 lbs to go for the challenge! If I can ever let myself get there. lol
I keep hearing about NSV's! Guess what? I finally fit into size 2 pants!!! In two stores I had been afraid to try on pants for a long, long time (and I am really in some dire need of new pants... or a belt.), but yesterday I did it. Walked into two stores and tried on some pants. I didn't buy any in the end because I didn't really have any money on me, but it was nice nonetheless to have them fit me.
In one year, I've gone from a size 12/14 (I don't remember which) to a size 2. Yay! To put it another way, I've lost 59 lbs. in a year! Wow, I'm a slow loser
In other news, I got a job! I just started today. I work the morning shift and the only drawback I can see to that is that it is the same time I normally workout. The rest of my day is filled with cool babysitting of my nieces and nephew. I have to figure out some other time to work out on those days, I suppose... or my dietitian says that I don't have to exercise *everyday*... hmmm.. what are your opinions on this?
We had a birthday lunch at Maggiano's and for the record it is one of my mostest favoritest places to eat. (Yea I made up some words)!! Anywho, I saw the nutrition info last week and realized I may just have to drink water while everyone ate. Well I kept looking and there was a soup and salad combo. I got a Tuscan & Sausage Orzo soup and a Cesaer Salad with the dressing on the side. I shook all the shreaded and shaved cheese off the leaves of lettuce. I got full and only ate 300 calories at Maggianos, at Maggianos!!! I was so excited. Everyone else ate the pasta dishes (1000 cals or more). YEA BABY!!!!!
angel---congrats on the NSV!! aren't they sooo exciting!!!
fruit---glad to hear that weight is coming back off...I have a feeling after the weekend I had, my weight is gonna be up tomorrow...and I'll start working on getting that water weight off!!!
Jiggle... WOW! maybe gettin pumped up like that helped w/your good choices at Maggianos!! You're awesome!! WAY more willpower than I have!! But you help alot!!
to all the newbies!! As I've said before, these challenges are REALLY helpful!!!
mrslovett--I've read several places that we don't need to exercise EVERY day to be HEALTHY...but for weightloss, or atleast accelerated WL, then I think it helps to do every day or atleast 3-5x/week...you've already come so far...and BTW, 59lbs in a year is AWESOME....NOT SLOW...looks like you only have 7lbs to go, so IMOH, I'd keep your calories in check while you start this new work schedule and don't stress about not being able to exercise every day....just do it when you can...maybe even decrease your cals when you KNOW FOR SURE you can't exercise that day??? just a thought
As for me, well I had a sucky weekend! Even after that amazing run and NO DONUTS on Friday, I screwed it all up on Sat & Sun...we took out a friend for a going away party and had Mexican..and as you all know, thats my weakness! LoL AND, of course I over ate!! One good thing from that night, I didn't eat my entire plate...I save a bunch of the meat and rice for DH to eat later...but I totally over-did it on chips & queso! UUUGH! Then, yesterday, DH & I went to this little place in East Nashville called Pied Piper Eatery and it's all homemade AND MOSTLY ALL FRIED! BOO! I had a mambo italiano which is essentially a chicken parm sandwich with fried chicken...then as my side I couldn't resist the mac N cheese! And DH ordered fried pickles and I at just a few of those!!...however, the scale remained the same as it was last Monday...179.4...I'm sure It'll be up tomorrow (considering the weekend eating AND TOM still hasn't showed up!), but I'm workin hard today to get LOTS & LOTS of water!! and hopefully low cals...then, gonna jog on the TM later tonight.....
~*~*~So, I've come up with a new plan to start April 1st...not sure if I'll be able to stick with it, but I"m gonna try it out....changes include:
*1) I'm giving up what I call "White Carbs" (includes things like potatoes, rice, pasta, & bread)...this will be hard considering I don't eat most veggies...and I like to have a "side" when I eat dinner...usually a potato or rice...so I'll be eating ALOT of protein! not a bad thing really but I'm dreading the headache you get from no carbs...i think it's like a withdrawal or something, and even tho I'll have carbs in other things, i still get the headache...i did this version of my "no carb diet" and the headache came 2-3days into it...but I'll get through it!!
*2) I'm gonna also give up weighing myself every day! I'm only gonna weigh on Fridays (Since the challenge ends on a Friday)...I don't particularly like this considering how UNSTABLE my weight is from day to day...and I'm scared on WI days, it'll be up and I'll think I'm not making progress...I like seeing the "new lows" even if it only lasts 1 or 2 days, but it lets me know I'm moving right along in my journey...buuut, I'm gonna try it out for the month of April...
*3)And the last thing I'm gonna change...NO MORE CHOCOLATE!!! I allow myself TOO MUCH...if its something big (cake, candy bar, or reese's egg, etc) I'll count the calories...however, if its just a little piece (say from a candy bowl in the office), then I'll grab a piece and not think anything about it...THIS IS SO NOT GOOD, considering I may grab 4 or 5 pieces throughout my 8hr shift!!! THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!
SO, THERE YOU HAVE IT!! My new plan for April! Considering I haven't lost a single ounce since the beginning of this challenge...and actually have gained 2lbs...maybe this will kickstart my WL again!
And on a non-weight-loss related topic...THE WVU MOUNTAINEERS ARE GOING TO THE FINAL FOUR!!!! Really the only sports I watch are college basketball and football and since I went to WVU and grew up in WV, I LOVE MY MOUNTAINEERS!!! Can't wait for Saturday where we're gonna stomp the Duke Blue Devils!! hehehe just had to add that!
Another great weighin this morning. I can't believe how well I did this weekend. I had chips and beer in the house along wit pizza and I didn't go over once! I woke up this morning excited to get on the scale and I drank my coffee...mmmm..I ran out of coffee on saturday, so sunday was HORRIBLE! So last night after work I went grocery shopping and got what I call "normal" food. Because we were eating out, I would try to get all healthy stuff as in no mac and cheese, no chips and stuff like that, but packing lunches more and cooking we can have that stuff now just in moderation. I made a tuna noodle caserole last night and there was something missing from it, i don't know why. It wasn't bad just not the best i've made which annoyed me to no end...still does...i'm a prefectionist and especially for cooking certain things. I followed the recipe exactly...next time I won't google I'll just make my mom's. Still the caserole wasn't that bad for us...depending on the serving size we choose either 3-5 servings...the bf tends to take alot it would be anywhere from 300 to 500 calories per serving. I only take a little and have a side salad to fill me up. It's coming down to crunch time for school and I'm getting more and more stressed, I'm having a panic attack 24/7 now.....*sigh. Anyway
jigglefree: My god your wonderful! I love your attitude and how well you did at Maggianos.
Thundah: Waahooooooooooooooooooo! You're back! I missed you sooo much! hehe Glad to see your doing well.
MrsLovett: congrats on the size 2, I know how much that means to you. It's a great accomplishment.
KDM: I think your new goals are great and I wish you the best of luck. Oh and fried pickles....mmmmm...I'm obsessed with pickles. You have come so far, you can do it!
angel: congrats on your progress! I know what you meant by NSV by how you described it but I don't know what it stands for......still I'm very happy for you. Great job!
*********: Welcome This website is the best weightloss support I've every had! We are all here for you...Good Luck!
Lori: Sorry about your mask....I hope the doctor can help you feel better and enjoy the weather. So 72 this weekend!? Where the heck was that in Michigan!? It was freezing and raining here...grrrr...Maybe we will get 72 here and the bf and I will go for a walk.
Everyone else I wish you all the best. Im in class right now...lol I'm always on a computer so I'm able to sneak on here for a few. Tonight I just want to go home and eat my dinner and relax.
NSV==(N)on (S)cale (V)ictory. My favorite kind. LOL! I think the scale can measure progress, but the NSV things measure our success. I think I should add that to my signature!
Today i got my workout in, did a 45minute step aerobics dvd then did some pretty intense yoga for 20minutes. I burned 408 in calories. Today is also my higher calorie meal. Im pretty proud of myself this week, i managed to get one lb from my lowest weight. I can't wait to see if I pass that weight on next mondays weigh in
Hello to everyone! I will try and catch up with everyone tomorrow have a great calorie counting day
I'm so PROUD of you all. You are doing what you gotta do and seeing progress. After I got off work I went to the gym and came home to a 200 cal dinner. I stayed within my calorie budget and then I took a nap. I just finished my workout with the resistance bands. I'm glad you guys are so supportive.
Angels - I love that...NSV measure our success. I think I get most excited about being able to do things I haven't been able to do than what the tape measure says. JD - I get so excited because I am doing what I have never been able to do. Get the weight off but not struggle. There are times that it's not as easy as others but you guys have been great for me. Relax, don't be so hard on yourself. As much as you give yourself to something it's never perfect. Encourage yourself like you do us on this site. misspriss - How do you calculate how many calories you lost. You are mighty close to your goal. So is it getting harder the closer you get?
Welcome ********* join the party. We are having big fun.
Time for bed. I have another day to look forward to more progress.
Today I logged a whopping 500 calories by 9pm. So, here I am, trying to figure out the healthiest way to log at least another 500. Tuna fish, here feeshy feeshy fish...
Meanwhile, Friday, I'd eaten 500 by the time lunch rolled around, and then went ahead and rediscovered what an enormous BOOOOOOOOORE I am when I drink wine later that evening.
Ladies, I am glad to be here. Life has been nuts. I have missed a lot of y'all!
I'm at 175, and by Arbor day I'd like to be 170 even. And not exhaling with all my clothes off and holding my hair off the scale to get there.
Hi Everyone..
I'm at work, so I can't really comment on everyone, but you're all such an inspiration!!
I've lost 1.5lbs so far toward my Arbor Day goal of losing 10
Keep up the great work everyone!!
Good morning ladies. Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well, beer, chips and queso aside.
Good new plans, old plans that are working and some plans we need to get re-dedicated to.
I woke up tired today. And exhausted is still asleep. It's been raining outside. No cycling today. Doesn't matter. The wind has FINALLY stopped blowing, so unless the rain is torrential, which it looks like it isn't, then in a little while I will walk to the drugstore to fetch a prescription. I think I will also try to do the stairs atmy house twice each time I need to use them. And maybe see if I can sweat to the oldies. Or one oldie. Or get off the sofa and pop in the dvd.
lori Thanks for the welcome pretty lady! Glad to be here - it's always nice to be part of some kind of group effort, even if that effort means no cookies or booze...
jdon Lookit your new picture, you hottie you! Hope you're well, you're looking wonderful at least!
I have discovered that if I pay careful, careful attention to what I eat in the morning, the rest of my day is pretty much coasting. I'm also eating "2nd breakfast" on a regular basis. For example, I'll eat a whole grain frozen waffle with 1/2 T of peanut butter and some honey. Then about 2-3 hours later, I eat 1/2 cup whole grain cereal and 1/2 cup skim milk.
It's working well. after 2nd breakfast, I don't really care about food much, eat my teeny lunch and mid-day snack and barely look for dinner. It's almost like a magic bullet - except I don't always want second breakfast, so getting it in can be somewhat challenging. They days I don't eat 2nd breakfast, I usually find some junky carbs somewhere sometime before lunch. Like crackers. Bleh.
I am still working out nearly daily, M-F I do circuit training or weight training. I try to get in 40 minutes if I can. If I have the time, I squeeze some yoga in the morning after the workout or in the evening before bed. Saturday has become my rest day. I also tend to eat at maintenance on Saturdays, which for me I'm pegging around 1800 cals to be on the safe side. The last few weekends I've eaten beyond that, even, but as I have continued to lose at a reasonable pace, I've chosen to practice some self-forgiveness; I don't think it's OK that I'm overeating due to stress, but I am not stressing out trying to stop myself. It's weirdly working, I haven't overeaten by nearly as much as I might normally. It's still too much, but a more acceptable amount of too much. On Sundays I do yoga and walking, and eat either at maintenance or at restriction (1250-1400).
Hope y'all are doing well! It's spring here in full force - nice sunny windy days, cool nights. I am bursting with spring happiness!!!
Made it through the first day of my Arbor Day Challenge.
I thought I did good on calories but I was over by 100 at the end of the day! I will try harder today. But I guess its okay to have like a max and min limit for calorie counting...right? Anyone have any experience doing it that way?
ALSO!! Week 1 Day 1 of C25k complete!! I can't believe I did it!! I felt great after and the burn in my legs today is reminding me that I am working out and I love it! Ok...maybe I don't love it yet. But I will some day.
Angels- Thanks for explaining NSV. I have a love/hate relationship with my scale. Part of my Arbor day Challenge is to weigh in only 1 every 2 weeks. 1 day down....13 days to go till the next weigh in! lol
KDM- I'm a MOUNTAINEER fan too!! I can't wait to see them make #1!!
ok not a good weekend for me as far as dieting goes....I gained 4 pounds...ugh...I enjoyed myself way too much. I was having a lot of fun went to Michael Buble (amazing!) had a few drinks, sushi twice, and then yesterday was having some anxiety so I proceeded to just pig out...ugh. oh well i will do much better this week! I have to or I'm not going to make my goal!!!
