My daughter has started a tradition in her house, that the kids learned in school.
For the past couple years, on St. Patty's Day, she has the kids (now 4 and 6, and the baby is 10 months) build a "Leprechan Trap," and they bait it with tin foil coins to fool the Leprechan into thinking they are money for his pot.
They never catch a Leprechan, but he always takes the silver coins and leaves candy and cheese for the kids for their cleverness.
My 6-year-old grandson told me today that he knew the Leprechan had been there, not only because he left candy and cheese, but because the Leprechan had also used the bathroom.
"How do you know the Leprechan used the bathroom," I asked him.
"Because, the water was green, silly," he answered.
I was practically rolling on the floor laughing! When my daughter got back on the phone, I asked her about the green water, thinking she found green Tidy Bowl or something. "Food coloring," she whispered.
I get prouder of her every day.
Has anyone else ever heard of this?

ROSEY . . . you look entirely too happy . . . lucky girl. I don't know if Las Vegas could survive a visit from you, chickie.
PHILLY . . . that is a great story and a great tradition. Wow, wish I'd known about that when my kids were young -- you can bet I'll be passing this idea on to my DIL.
Well . . . we are basking in and again today -- with another nasty freezing rain/rain (and therefore slightly warmer) storm on the horizon for tomorrow. Just waiting for the bathroom to warm up enough so I can have a shower and then get myself dressed and go out to play.
Hope everybody else has a great fun day on the agenda . . . See you later . . .
So grey here...but at least the rain is melting the snow. I maintained my weight this week. A little disappointing - but considering the food I indulged in on Saturday to be expected I suppose.
Rosey - You look so happy - WOW what a picture. Congratulations again!
Lynn - Great news on your smaller size and your diligent eating on your reunion trip. Perky, huh!? That's great too.
Meowie - Spring is really on it's way. Be patient.
Philly girl - loved the St patrick's day story about your DD and grandkids.
Laurie - Glad your business trip was successful and you're back "on track"
Hi Karen3! May hhave to try the tollhouse morsel idea.
Good Morning GG's, Hope things are going well with all of you. I have not been doing so great. I ate everything but the kitchien sink last night. maybe I had better go check, I might have taken a bite out of that too. I kep reminding myself that my body was trying to put the weight back on that I had lost. So I made an effort to at least eat low calorie, healthy food. Still, even too much of a good thing is still too much. But today is another day.
Phyllis, I know you probably won't be readin this, but good luck with your move.
Lily, Holiday dinner are always a problem, and with all the goodies at Easter it can be a challenge. But i'm making the dinner and planning the goodies and I have some controle. I'm making sure there are plenty of good safe foods for me to enjoy too. As for the treats in the kids Easter baskets? They are going home with the kids. Remember to make you a priority and that scale will be moving in the right direction soon.
Rosey, You lucky thing you!! Congratulations!!! Vegas won't stand a chance.
Lynn, So glad to see you back. You were missed. Got some real good news there too, huh? A size 10? How great is that? And perky to boot! I know I didn't realize how much I had lost untill my husband made me go buy new pants. We wear around those old baggy things becaue they are confortable but we need to celebrate the loss.
Karen3, I think treating dieting as a hobby sounds like a great idea. Make it more fun and not such a chore. Think of it as celebrating life.
Laurie, Congratulations for staying on your diet while you were traveling. I know that is not easy to do. I love way your daughter celebrates St. Patty Day. I love to do things like that with my grandkids. I will make this a tradition too.
Linda, Get out there and play while you can girl! If there is another storm on the way you might not get the chance for a while.
To all you Wonderful GG's that are MIA, come back please, we miss you. Zoe, Birgit, Cat, Joanne.......
Lyn, We must have been writting at the same time. Only 7 more days!!!!! I'm sitting here thinking what I would do on that first day off. What do you have planned? Sleeping in? Going out to celebrate?
Wow FREDA . . . not to panic, we all have days like that, unfortunately. Just keep doing the best you can, Chickie -- that's all we can do. BTW . . . most kitchen sinks are calorie-free.
That is a gorgeous new Avatar picture LYN . . . and where did you find those blooming lilacs . . . I can hardly wait until I can smell mine.
Woo hoo Rosey! You should come to Vegas! Let me know when your coming and I can show you all the buffets that have healthy choices
Where abouts in AK are you? I was there a couple of years ago on a cruise - and yes, I behaved exactly like all the gawking tourists I poo poo at when they come here, but just loved it there. Of course, it wasn't the middle of winter................
Welcome back Lynn! you were missed. Great job on the smaller bra and the size 10s (she says as she turns green with envy) And, thanks for sharing that borrowed post - I like the idea of looking at dieting as a hobby. I think we are all doing a lot of that same research and experimentation but never saw it as actually being an enjoyable passtime. Sadly, I haven't seen Bobbi back here since the angry, frustrated post. I hope she's OK. Also haven't seen Birgit in a while. I know she was going out of town too but thought she'd be back by now. I really miss her sense of humor.
So, Karen3, are you telling me that I'm not the only one who latches on to some idea I've read here and dissects it like a frog in a biology class? I spend the majority of my drive time to work and back bantering with myself about whether I should try something I read about in here - or how I can modify it to fit my plan. Had to buy a fake BlueTooth earpiece just so people next to me at stoplights would think I was on the phone rather than some space cadet nodding my head and talking to myself.
It's OK Freda - one day (or night) of a (spring fever?) food orgy won't completely undo all your hard work and all you've accomplished. Just shake it off and regroup. You'll be feeling great about yourself again in no time. And watch those kitchen sinks - they may be calorie free but they are murder on the dental work
Despite my emotionally poopie weekend, I'm right back in the groove. Found a thread in the fitness boards about reasons to stick with our exercise plans and seems one of the top things everyone likes is that exercise relieves stress - Boy are they right. Made myself get in there and sweat it out for the last two days and am right back to feeling positive - about everything, not just the size of my jeans . Had a brief moment of panic when I realized I had tossed my sz 14s in the dryer with the 16s that I broil on hot as possible so they'll shrink and I can still get away with wearing them. I was thinking "well crud, now I'll have to wait another 10 lbs before I can wear them again" Wrong still got them on and zipped with no muffin. Not as exciting as Lynn's size 10s but I'll take it.
Great job all you GGs who have been travelling and stuck with (or really close to) your plans Not this weekend but the next DH and I have a weekend away to watch FIL in a bowling tournament (his big debut since getting his pacemaker so we MUST be there to cheer) I'm a little nervous since this will be my first time away from home since implementing The Plan. I'll be thinking of all of you and shamelessly using all of you for inspiration to make healthy choices.
Have a marvelous first day of the long awaited spring!

Mixed precipitation here with temps hovering at freezing. No robins in the yard yet, so not officially spring in my book. They are making maple syrup at the farm down the road, so it is on the way!
I enjoyed your post yoyo. You made me smile, thank you. I won't regurgitate all of the news and sentiments above...but Vegas and Alaska sound like alot of fun, was in Vegas overnight on a trip out west (on way to southern rim of Grand Canyon). One of my life's goals is to cruise to Alaska. Probably will combine it with a trip to WA to visit relatives!
Love the Leprechaun trap idea, will be sure to share it with DIL to "pull on" grandchildren!
Have a great night everyone. I had a great on plan day minus the exercise...had a lazy 1/2 day off of work.
K3 . . . Does your picture program have an edit function whereby you can decrease the resolution of the picture . . . I know I had problems with print quality pictures having just so many pixels to get the excellent image resolution that there is just no way to upload them to here. If you decrease the quality, you decrease the pixels and then it will upload and it looks fine on here even though it would be somewhat blurry if you tried to print it.
Have been missing in action since I started training with my new job! YEAH!!!
I come home so tired at this point mentally and physically (got used to that late night and sleeping in thing for 5 months) to even think of getting on line.
So just stopped by to say hi!
Did love the Leprechan trap story, will have to remember that for when I have grandchildren.
Hope next week I'm more used to the routine and catch up with everyone.
Need to stop eating the treats in training though. Excited that this company does encourage healthy eating and lifestyle with a lot of incentives.
