morning y'all....Can't believe it's Thursday. What happened to the week? Looked at my calendar and this is the last free day I have this month. And realized that next Fri when I direct is a holiday and the people who go to the Citrus Springs game will come to ours. The county closes their building on holidays. Be
30+ tables....ackkkkk that's 120 peoples. Wish I hadn't looked.
Spent the whole day mumbling about will power and why the term drives me crazy. Had an ah ha moment. Way way ago when I was a psych nurse people didn't understand that alcoholism was a disease and not a matter of will power. That sobriety wasn't a matter of will power. The term was used to brow beat and degrade.
Funny how old stuff is just bubbling beneath our surface.
Lyn....10 Days?
Karen...how's your Dad?
Everyone...ONE thats ONE Week until Spring. Hang on it's a coming soon!
Take care of yourself, eat heathy and hugs....karen3
Good Morning Golden Girls, Worked yesterday and had to do a 15 hour again. These long days are killing me! I'm too old for this. But I did well. Usually when I'm that tired and hungry (didn't take any extra food for the additional time) I want to come home and eat. I know the symptoms now. I decided what I was going to eat before I got home. My way of controling the weight is planning.
Lyn, No matter now you lost the 2 lb. it's GONE!!! Glad to hear that you are feeling better too.
Rosey. I'm with you girl, I love my alone time. Mostly because I can't get anything done with DH around. And when he does decide he wants to do something, he wants to do it right now! I'm a planner, give me some time to decide what color I want, and if I want carpet or wood floors. An example: a few years ago we talked about redoing the shrubs in the front of the house. I was working midnight then and came home and went to bed, When I got up that afternoon he called me outside to ask me a question. How do you want the block laid. He had already bought the block, dug up the ground and bought new shrubs and was ready to go. Just a bit overwhelming for me.
KC, Glad you found us. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Beth, Thanks for posting your menu, and good for you for sticking to plan. I like seeing how others are managing their diets, gives me idea and inspiration.
Mary, Make yourself at home. Most of us consider this a second, or third home.
Boddi, Girl, you are down!!!! I know how frustrating it gets, all of us do. If we can help in another way, just tell us how. I know we talk a lot about our lives, but I think the more you know someone, the more you care about them and understand what they are going through. Sorry, can't kick either, but how about a
Karen3, 20 min of the bike! Those legs are going to be toned! You are going to be slim and have legs that you are going to have to wear skirts and peddle pushers (I know, shows my age) to show off. I agree that it doesn't take long to get really weak if you are in bed or laying around. That is why we get so many patients in rehab. I hear so many people say "mom needs to go to bed and rest" That is the last thing mom needs!! She needs to move as much as she can to get strong! I am getting an image of myself with little holes all over from accupuncture, with water and fat leaking out. They encouraged me to go for accupuncture for my back pain, and if I thought I would get double results I might try it.
YoYo, I love your weight loss theory. Sounds as good as anything else I've read in the million books i've read about weight loss.
Phillgirl, 5 lb weight loss is awsome! makes the 3 week weight worth it (almost).
Phyllis, Not only is your new home beautiful, but you have walking trails near by? Sounds perfect.
KC, Looking forward to talking with you.
Linda, The only way I can handle restauant meals is to preplan. I decide what I am going to order before I go in, and I have the waitress bring me a doggie bag when I get my meal. I put the part I am not going to eat in right away. If it sits on my plate I will pick at it untill it is gone.
Well . . . northern Nova Scotia is in the midst of the first of those three storms we have to have before Spring can officially arrive . . . . . . so far we are just hving a little bit of snow mixed with a very big bit of wind . . . hope it doesn't decide to get worse.
Here's wishing the rest of you a great fun day . . .
Good Morning GG's! I've read a lot of the posts and want to Welcome the new laides here! I' m using my brothers computer right now and just wanted to let you all know that they post poned my Dad's surgery. He will be going to the hospital tomorrow at noon for it. The hospital didn't have the pacemakers that they needed for him. So he should be in the hospital overnight and back home on Saturday if all goes well.
We've enjoyed being here and looked at lots of houses. Dad went riding with us yesterday and we looked at a house that is for sale now where I was born!! My Dad said they paid $6,000 for it when they bought it and it is now for sale for $70,000!! It would be real neat to live in a house where I was born but it is just really small.
My realtor called the other day and they have someone really interested but it would be at least a month before they can buy. But it sounds pretty promising.
Well, I wanted to let you know what was going on here and to Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my Dad. At this point I think we are planning on leaving here Sunday to go back home if all goes well.
YoYo...funny but thought I had wee sponges that sucked up water when the fat dissolved and why I never change my weight until 2 weeks have passed. Wonder if acturapunture would help? Millions of tiny leaks.
Too funny Karen3. I got this visual of using all these hollow acupuncture needles and having this little mini fountain on my thighs. I could set it to music like at the Bellagio
Don't know if it's the time change or what, but I am just drained and brainless for some reason. Barely managed to phlump through my workout last night and I'm still on the beginner DVD. Had been planning to give myself one more week then move up to the intermediate but, after yesterday, I'm not so sure. Then I completely spaced putting together my food for today so I had to rush this morning and ended up with oatmeal and leftover whole wheat pasta instead of my usual grapefruit and fresh salad - it's not like I'm going to go to the vending machine for chips and cookies but still gonna go over on my grain servings - I do best at losing if I keep the grains to 1 or 2 servings a week and now I'm getting both of them in one day. Then I forgot to move the laundry to the dryer so had to wear too big clothes today. Am I the only one who seems to get totally thrown out of whack by changing the clock one lousy hour?
OK - enough of my pity party. On the positive side, I did add some blueberries to the oatmeal so at least I got in some fruit. And, I have some raw walnuts and a can of tuna (thanks to planning ahead for just such an emergency - and yes, I have a can opener too ) in my desk drawer so if I feel too "carbed out" at lunch time I can toss the pasta and have the tuna instead.
eww, more storms? Poor Linda. Here I was being annoyed that our temp is supposed to drop back to the 60s this weekend when I was all ready to swap out the sweater drawer into a T-shirt drawer. Instead of being annoyed, I think I'll count my blessings.
Thanks for the compliment Freda Glad I make sense to someone besides me
Isn't it cool to go see your old home Karen31? Last summer DH and I went back my old home town and went to see the house my Dad built and I grew up in. It also happened to be for sale so, even though we hadn't even been thinking of buying a vacation home, we went to see the realator. Price was obscene (1/2 a mil ) which made it totally unrealistic to even consider - aside from the fact that 3000 sq ft is a tad large for a weekend retreat
Been busy putting together a movie from music and pix for the boys' basketball banquet this weekend, also have some display boards with pix on them to celebrate the season. It is alot of work...but well worth it! Tonight is for resting and watching Survivor!
Having a good day at work today. Went and got some soup from the kitchen because it is cold in my office today. BRRR! (Could be from drinking all that water!) Had the points to spare!
B: simply quaker oatmeal, banana (5)
S: italian wedding soup, herbal tea (6)
L: turkey and swiss on rye, apple (9)
S: popcorn (2)
D: veggie salad with italian dressing, green beans, steak (6)
Water: plenty, I finish and refill my glass when anyone comes into the office
Exercise: one mile hall-walking
I will be so happy when I can figure out this ticker thing, but on a happy note I was down .8 yesterday for a week I'm still trying to start my own blog but I'm getting messages from the moderator and I'm still confused. Is this was it means to be 54??
Anyway, I think I got my picutre with my grandson added in to my profile finally.
So, if I understand this correctly, I can get to the page where I can create a ticker, but for some reason I can't use it or save it anywhere. Is this because I haven't been around long enough, i.e. at 30 all of a sudden it works for me? I thought because I had a weight loss I could enter I would get the tickers....I got this thing about the tickers, I guess I'm visual.
Anyway, now I'm rambling. Been a decent day portion wise, but not necessarily nutritionally. When I got to Costco I just have to have one of their hot dogs, but I only eat half now, before I would have that, or the poutine.....
And I got some of my favourite green tea extract, gives me a nice boost for the day, and have added in Q10 and ALS lineolic acid, they are supposed to be great anti oxidants and good for the heart.
We had a surprise snowstorm last night as meowe has already mentioned. DH measured it this morning it was 14 cm and we still haven't seen a plough, lol....
It was a great day and we're having l/f caesar salad with grilled chicken breast and a small roll for supper and I'm looking forward to it. I have a recipe for 1 point caesar salad and would love to share it, where might I do that?
Anyway, have a great day all and thanks for all your welcomes, I know I'll catch on eventually. Tommorrow is Red Hatters here at Whitepoint Beach, 135 km, weather forecast is good and my sister in law and I are travelling with another Hatter and her sister. Should be fun, maybe we'll get a walk on the Beach......
Aww . . . sorry to hear that KC . . . we only got about 1 little cm inch of snow. Such a small Province; so many different weather patterns -- it's amazing. I heard that Cape Breton got quite a lot. For you non-Canuks -- KC got almost 6 inches; I got less than 1/2 an inch. You are definitely correct about having to wait to get your ticker -- 30 days of membership and 30 posts. It's unfortunate that a few 'bad apples' have managed to taint the barrel for all newcomers. Just keep posting, the time will fly by. That's a great avatar picture by the way.
Okay gang . . . I hope you all know that I'm not trying to ignore the rest of you . . . just trying to give a little extra assistance to our newbie . . . and you are definitely not alone YOYO -- I don't think I'll recuperate from the time change until somewhere around mid-June.
See you later . . .

Reason: my mind works faster than my fingers
Hubby and I are planning to leave for Fancy Gap, VA, on March 26, and stay with a friend for a week. Fancy Gap is near Hillsville ?, VA, I believe, it's right across the border from Mt. Airy, N.C. Anyone live near there and want to meet?
Wow! You all have been BUSY while I was on "vacation!" I scanned the posts, but need to go back and read them all more closely. Welcome to all of the new faces!
Well, my house is once again VERY quiet. I don't think I like it too much. My Mother went back to NC with my sister and bil on tuesday and my daughter went back to L.A. yesterday morning. We had a great visit other than the fact that she got a UTI while she was here that made her miserable and we had to skip our "girl's day out" of retail therapy. We did get in an afternoon of shopping while she was here though and had a lot of fun.
I found out some great new yesterday that cheered me up. My oldest son is graduating from LSU in Dec. (my youngest son is also graduating from another university at the same time!) Oldest has been interviewing for internships and got one in a town that is not too far from here, so he will be living with us for the summer while the internship lasts...oh boy, another little bird back in the nest! The house he lives in in BR is being sold, so living here will save him some rent while he and the roommates look for another one for the fall.
Hope everyone has a great day. I'm off to the old fluidity bar and tub, then off to school.
Oh, wait, I have to add something that was kind of funny that happened last night. After watching Survivor, my husband and I were flipping channels and landed on PBS. They had a show about 60's music that was very good. Brought back some great memories. They had old clips of groups singing and then also had some of the same groups as they look now singing the great old songs. We just got REALLY tickled at one of them. It was Eric Burdon from The Animals singing "It's my life". I always thought of him as a "rebel" type of guy...young, speaking out against "the man""the establishment" etc. He does not look "bad", but he is a rather "portly" looking man..not exactly the same as the cute little rebel guy.
The funny part was him singing this rather "rebelious" song. He sounded great, but he was singing: But baby, but baby
Remember, remember
It's my life and I'll do what I want
It's my mind and I'll think what I want
I looked at my husband and said "What a rebel...does he sing that song as he's sneaking out of the rest home?"
I guess that really sounds mean, but it was kind of funny seeing all the "old guys" singing songs with lyrics that came out of rebelious mouths of youth.

Sounds like you'd better enjoy a little 'quiet time' while you can CAT. BTW, I think those lyrics are great (and appropriate) at any age.
Well, we have a lovely but very, very morning. The great mysterious "they" are telling me it is only a lull between storms, however, as the weekend prediction is for downright horrible weather until Tuesday. Guess I'd better get myself in gear and get a lot of things done today while I've got the chance.
Hope everybody else has a great day planned . . . see you later . . .
