Plan to get myself out and about pretty soon. The weather is pretty overcast right now, but it's supposed to start raining about noon and continue that way for the rest of the weekend. Somehow I don't picture myself walking any distance in the rain.
Hope everybody has a fun kind of day on the go . . . keep things moving and shaking, gang . . .
I finally got to move the little flower on my weight tracker. I weighed in this morning and I broke into the 170s at 179 pounds. That's the second time in two months because of the new scales I bought a couple of weeks ago. A 3 pound loss after almost 4 weeks of not moving an ounce. I haven't exercised today as I usually take off a day or two a week but maybe I'll don my jogging shorts and run around for a while.
I'm donating a pound of margarine, peanut butter, etc. to the local food bank for every pound I lose.
Dull and overcast around here -- seems rather appropriate thoush since I decided today is the day I will do my taxes They aren't due until April 30 in Canada.
Other than that . . . nothing exciting for me . . . hope everybody has a fun day, doing great stuff.
I did jog last night and had a good run--all sweaty and red in the face. But I had a mini binge this morning with the dreaded potato chips. Three or 4 fistfuls gone down the hatch. Now I have to count those empty calories (Tastes good but not filling at all!)into my daily intake of food.
I did income tax returns this morning for my mom and a friend. I hope no one else wants any done. I've done 9 returns and helped my sister with hers so I'm all taxed out. Too bad doing taxes doesn't burn extra calories.
Just finished mine so that's RCT (or whatever they call themselves these days) off my back for a little while -- until they write to tell me how much I owe them for quarterly payments for the rest of this year.
Hidee Ho . . . we have SNOW. Imagine my delight to see that this morning. Oh well, snow at this time of year never last long and we are being promised sunshine for tomorrow.
Have a good Monday, gang . . . see you later . . .
Linda, I'll trade you our 100 degree heat wave for your snow. With no air conditioning and living in a metal mobilehome, it was a scorcher inside and I couldn't get away from it. Today is supposed to get up to about 87, and then drop into the low 70's tomorrow, finally. Even my poor dog was feeling the heat - his tongue was hanging out all day which he never did before, poor guy.
Weight staying the same, but I think I've lost a couple inches around the waist. Typical for this low-carb diet, they say. I feel good so won't change anything.
Gotta get a few groceries today and do some housework before it gets too hot again. Have a lovely day.
Today I finally made the transition to jogging outside. Boy, is it different from running around the house. I mapped out a route on our street running back and forth and each loop I do is .5k, so if I jog it 10 times I'll have 5k jogged. I did it 6 times this morning--jogged 2.5k and walked .5k for a total of a 3k jog/walk. I'm pleased with that and hope to slowly increase the distance by the end of the month to maybe even doing the entire 5 k in one run.
I jog very slowly as I don't want any sprained ankles, shin splints or any more muscle spasms. My lungs feel as if they've been expanded.
I'd really to send you some, Elyn -- but ours is all gone again -- and it's supposed to be a lovely week and it's going to get even milder as the week progresses.
I'm sitting here, sipping hot lemon water and trying to pretend it's going to have the same impact as coffee , but it isn't working. Have to go for bloodwork this morning and naturally I was up bright and early. This would have been a great morning to sleep a little later. Oh well. Actually hot lemon-flavoured water isn't too bad -- just not coffee.
Hey, hope everybody has a great day . . . see you later,
Isabella, Yeah for you!!! Getting outside at starting to jog. Starting out slow is the right way to go. And don't forget to stretch afterwards. Had shin splints last year and not only do they put you out of commision for awhile, they really HURT! And, if those potato chips aren't in the house, you can't forget and eat a bunch before you think. That is one of the first things I did when i started dieting. I had to clean all my "trigger" foods. Some things my husband loves and i'm not tempted by, but somethings are just better left alone.
Linda, Good luck at the Dr. And Lemon and hot water is so good for the digestive system. And it's supposed to help you lose weight too. My Dr. appointment was yesterday (must be the week). First time he had seen me since the weight loss. Shook my hand and congratulated me. My BP is normal and he said he was sure that my cholesterol (which was 220) would be within normal range too. Got those health benefits along with all the other benefits of the weight loss.
Elyn, NOW you ask for snow. Ours just melted! I would have been happy to send you some even last week!
Kathleen, Hope the weather stays fairly cool for you untill you get your air fixed.
Had another good jog this morning. Jogged 2.5k and walked 1k so that makes 3.5 if I still have the energy to do simple math. I have decided that doing 5k walking and jogging is more important than trying to do it all jogging. But I would love to jog the whole 5k as I was doing two years ago. I am doing this very slowly. When I started at 10 am there was ice on the puddles and by the time I finished at 10:40 the sun had come out and the ice was melted.
Yesterday I got a couple of comments from the neighbours about my jogging. My next door neighbour was having a coffee in her living room and saw me go by but wasn't sure of who it was as I had a toque on and she didn't recognize me. And my neigbour across the street from me had the same experience. When I got too hot I pulled it off and suddenly they knew who the demented jogger was.
My inner and outer thighs are burning today from yesterday and they feel worse now so I may have to just walk tomorrow. Time will tell.
I don't normally keep chips in the house because they are definitely my trigger food (if you can even call them food). I describe them as my crack cocaine and I'd snort them if I couldn't chew. I bought them for my mom who lives with us. Last week she wanted some chocolate or candy and I told her there were no more chocolates, bars or chips coming in the house and she told me I wasn't running a very good house. Sooooo...I bought her some bars and a bag of chips last Thursday. The bars don't bother me at all. (I've had a Lindt dark chocolate bar on my dresser since Christmas that I'm saving for a special occasion.) But the chips were screaming out my name and by Sunday I capitulated to their charming lure.
I'm back . . . I've had 2 cups of . . . I feel pretty good.
Oh wow . . . trigger foods, FREDA . . . Peanut Butter is my very, very worst thing. Followed closely by chocolate . . . can't keep either of those in the house. I think a serving of PB is at least 1/2 cup and a serving of chocolate is however much there is available. Actually both are perfectly good food, if you can control the portion size. As for potato chips -- I honestly don't care if I ever have one. Amazing how different we all are, isn't it? You're right, ISABELLA, I really don't think they can even qualify as food.
Linda~ peanut butter, peanuts, and all nuts for that matter are my trigger foods. I guess it's because they were widely available in my diet as a vegan many, many moons ago. Same thing with potato chips, but what else is left to eat, when you are a vegan?
I'm not a vegetarian anymore, so chocolates have also taken over.
I always have peanut butter in the house, but try to keep peanuts away, as I can finish a bag in no time.
Freda~ it is really nice that you're still around giving us all the support that we need.
Congrats on the weight loss, I'm sure your cholesterol is normal when you've lost 45#
My ultimate goal is to lose 45#, but I'm not sure if it is realistic for me. Why is it that everybody was getting snow? and all we got most of the time was some lousy rain??
