Children/Ages: someday, but not yet

Occupation: a small part of a large medical center

Pets: None

Hobbies/Interests: writing, reading, cooking

Height: 5'6"

Eye/Hair Color: brown/black with increasing strands of white

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: March 2, 2008

Starting Weight: 155

Present Weight: 147

Goal Weight: 135

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I have lots. I live far away from everyone I know, so when I feel lonely I'm tempted to get takeout. When I do see my boyfriend, he loves taking me to fancy restaurants and insists on ordering appetizers, entrees, desserts, wine and then going out for cocktails afterwards - those are never low calorie weekends! I am in a department where we often have big luncheons. I get bored with excercise. I have issues with portion control. My friends always want to socialize at restaurants.

Following any specific plan: eating food I make at home 95% of the time, cutting back on calories, being stricter about portion control, actually going to the gym and upping the cardio while there

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I bought a pedometer to keep me engaged in constantly tracking and increasing the number on it. I live in a walkable community, I've began to take full advantage of it such as by walking to the supermarket and carrying my groceries home. I am learning to cook my favorite restaurant foods at home. If I am really craving something bad to eat, I have to walk myself to the restaurant to buy it - no driving! I've also began engaging myself in the gym and reading more and this has helped decrease the lonely feelings. I've starting running a tiny bit, never done that before.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I hate that our society is so unhealthy - building communities without sidewalks, being forced to drive everywhere, out of control portions at restaurants, constant advertising of unhealthy foods and glamourizing unrealistic celebrity diet behaviors.
Hi Orthovia,

I know how it feels to be away from everyone you know. My family is all the way back in Korea..and my friends are back in Korea and all over the states. I also tend to get bored easy. My portion control used to be issue until I watched Paul Mckenna's show on TLC...In 2 wks, I'm eating less than half of what I used to eat, which is suprising!
Well, congrats for the weight you lost so far and good luck with this journey!

But I've gained a little weight back and am ready to get rid of it...this time healthily!

Starting Weight: 162

Goal Weight: 120 would be great!

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I have my grandmother's and my dad's super hard-core sweet tooth!! I'm an ice cream ADDICT!!!

Anything else you would like to share with us: I tend to get off track easily... Someone should whip me into shape!!!

Occupation: Tech Support

Pets: 4 year old Beagle/Rottweiler Mix named Nestle.

Hobbies/Interests: Cooking, Reading, Working Out, Hanging out with friends & family & dog, watching TV/Movies, listening to music

Height: 5' 6"

Eye/Hair Color: Blue Eyes, Natural blonde hair that I've recently added some reddish/copper highlights to.

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: December 2006 I finally decided I had to make a change, so in January 2007 I joined a gym & hired a fitness coach.

Starting Weight: 217

Present Weight: 167

Goal Weight: 150's I guess - I just want to be comfortable in my clothes with nothing hanging out or jiggling.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I am a southern girl who loves to eat. I also have a non-stop sweet tooth with a love for anything chocolate & peanut butter.

Following any specific plan: Balanced diet with calorie/fat/protein/carb goals as set by my coach.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I was finally ready to make a real change in my habits & had the additional support of my coach to keep me motivated.

Children/Ages: none

Occupation: Accountant

Pets: none

Hobbies/Interests: Real estate, crochet, movies, reading, hanging out with my family

Height: 5'6"

Eye/Hair Color: Brown/Brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: October 2007

Starting Weight: 220

Present Weight: 195

Goal Weight: 145 (for now, once I get there, who knows?)

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I don't like food, I LOVE it! Food has always been a huge part of my life. My Dad is Italian so we eat lots of pasta, bread, cheese, etc, and we're not active at all. Plus we eat when we're happy, sad, bored, excited, hot, cold......the first thing anyone does when they walk in the door is open the refrigerator. :blushes:

Following any specific plan: Yes, but I made it myself. I'm doing low-carb, plus walking around 6mi a day. I was doing Denise Austen's fat zone exercises for a while, but I've sort of let that go, and I need to get back into it.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Previous times I wasn't doing it for me. My parents would bug me about my weight, and to appease them I'd half-heartedly diet for a couple of weeks, but I would always go back to my normal ways. This time, I'm losing weight for me. I feel healthier, have more energy, and I've had to buy all new clothes twice! It has been great.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I've just found this site, but already I feel quite at home. I'm going to jump right in and do the biggest loser challenge. Keep your fingers crossed!

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I LOVE food. It is my friend and makes me happy. I like to cook, I love the way food tastes.
Another hurdle is I don't have a lot of time for exercising. And when I do exercise, it makes me hungry.

Following any specific plan: not exactly. I'm just trying to eat less and step up my activity level. But I'm determined launch a major campaign against my weight starting NOW!

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Actually this method is the only way I have ever been able to lose weight. The problem is that I usually don't stick with it and/or do it wholeheartedly.
