rocketbunny it's amazing how quickly my body adapted at running. the w1d1 run, i couldn't finish the last 60 second interval! but 20 minutes seems like loooong jump from 8! and the 5 minutes is tough to jump to, but it makes the 3 minute runs seem really short!

Angel'sDust if i can do w5d3 on Saturday, i'm sure you can too! i will let you know how it goes...if i can drag my tired butt to the computer!

leighish way to get back in to it! i liked w4, i felt really good by the second run.

Default Too heavy to run?

I've read through most of this thread, and this program sounds great! However, it seems like pretty much everyone doing this is at least 50lbs lighter than me!! Has anyone tried this at a heavier weight? Is it bad for you? I've tried running before and i'm AWFUL at it. My legs/feet get tired WAY before I'm out of breath. And I run INCREDIBLY slow!

W2D3 complete.

Well, that was much easier than I expected, especially after not having run since Friday morning. I kept the nice slow pace I've been working at, but didn't experience the usual "out-of-breathiness" typical of past runs.

I haven't signed up for a 5k yet, but was talking to a friend about it this morning. She has completed C25K and is running 3 miles at a time regularly. I may be signing up for a 5k with her in mid-June. I was hedging my bets in not signing up for one already. I really didn't think I could do it. I'm starting to think that I can.

Another thing, and maybe this is obvious to other women: I've been constantly annoyed by my "front" hair. It was escaping my ponytail and flopping into my face. Sometime this week I rediscovered the French ponytail (kinda like a french braid, but without the braid), where I first pull back the hair around my face into a high ponytail and then gather it and the rest of my hair into a standard ponytail at the base of my skull. Works much better!

DC- No, and here's why. I have a lot of unexplained weight issues. I am having several tests run right now to see what is going on. I was losing pretty steadily and all of the sudden, someone flipped a switch and now I am gaining. In Feb, I was 247. Now, I'm 272. So, *please* son't use me as an example. I am not your normal weight loss specimen. (If there is such a thing. )

I will say that my endurance has greatly increased as well as my speed a little. Also, I have a TON of energy using this program. So, my results cant be seen on the scale, but they are there.

Repeating Week 6! Finding it EXTREMELY challenging!!

Don't worry about the speed, just focus on completing week one. And it's perfectly okay to repeat a week. As long as you're doing something, you're doing more than nothing. I don't believe exercise is bad for you unless you have a heart condition or other medical problem and you're doctor tells you not too. No, I haven't lost any extra weight, but when I start a very challenging week my body does get a small boost in weight loss. I burn more calories with the 1 and 2 of 3 runs. I lose more at the start of the week, but it balances out. It all ends up to be the same amount.

I forgot to post that I finished w4d2 last night. I felt this extreme urge to run (I wasn't planning on doing this until today) and my body loved it until...I got a horrible side ache. I had to work around it. It was because I drank some chocolate milk and water 30 minutes before I went on the treadmill. *sigh*. It was painful. For the last 5 minute set, I had to take a break after 1 minute. Then I was able to complete 4 minutes straight easily.

I'm really happy that each week the program gets harder because I get really bored. I find I have to watch a TV show or movie AND listen to music to keep me going.

for w4 I find the hardest interval to be the second 3 minute run. Don't know why.

speaking of w4, doing w4d2 repeat tonight. I'm both anxious and scared to move onto w5

W3D1 done! That was actually (dare I say it?) ...easy...

I wasn't feeling like driving all the way to the park (10 minutes), so I filled up the camelbak, leashed the dog, and stepped out my front door to make a loop around the local high school.

The first 90 second interval was nothing new, I'd been doing it all last week. No problem. 90 seconds was also plenty of time to recover and prepare for my first 3 minute run....and it was ...easy...

While riding my motorcycle for endless hours on I-10 last week, I spent a lot of time spacing out. I mean, I was always paying attention to the road and drivers around me, but the only way to get through that much boring interstate is to disconnect from the idea that you have "this many more miles" or "this many more hours" to go and by the way, don't obsess over your sore rump or how much your shoulders ache.

In both riding and running, music helps. As my eyes range over my ever changing surroundings, I stop thinking about time and distance. I just jam to the beat and perpetuate the movements my body is making.

During the last 3 minute interval, I was kind of annoyed when Ullrey jarred me back into awareness with his one minute warning. I didn't want to know how much was left.

I can hardly wait to do W3D2.
