The temperature was saying 84 and partly cloudy, but I think a midday run is starting to be too hot here in Houston. I was fine during the run, but Lucy was noticeably slowing in areas of shade during the cool down walk.
She is always supposed to sit by the door to the apartment as I unlock it. This time she lay down and then collapsed again a few feet inside. I ended up bring the water bowl to her because I couldn't get her to come to the kitchen. Five minutes later she was moving around again, but I admit I was a little worried.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to finishing up this week and moving on to 5 minute runs. Now THAT sounds like an accomplishment!
Thanks for the welcome! Well after a bit of a rough afternoon I started Day 1 today. It was fine, I run REALLY slowly and I barely pick up my feet or bend my knees when I run, so it's just a step up from power walking. I was sweating (I sweat easily) but didnt really get out of breath. the outside of my lower legs were kind of hurting. We'll see how day 2 goes on Wednesday!
hey guys! so i did my 20 min run this morning!!!! w5 is done! it went pretty good, but i was very tired by the end. i also went on a 1.5 hour hike with the in-laws down by the river today, so i got in lots of exercise!
I forgot to tell you guys that I finished w4d3 on Saturday. It slipped my mind after I did it. W5d1 looks easy (easier than w4, surprisingly), so I'll give w5 a shot! I'm sure I'll regret those words later...
DCchick: Congrats on finishing the first day!

It's pretty cool to think to myself: "Three weeks ago you could barely run for a minute at a time. Now you're jogging 3 minute intervals. In two more weeks, you will be jogging for 20 minutes at a time."
I'm now 1/3 done with the Couch to 5K and feeling great. All three workouts this week went fairly smoothly and I'm not at all intimidated by week 4.
Today's workout was a little different in one respect...
It started raining about 5 minutes after I left my apartment. I figured it was just going to be patchy, so I kept going. It rained the entire time, varying from light sprinkles to heavy drops. I had one wet dog, but at least she wasn't in danger of overheating.
Angel's Dust - Great new avatar pic! W5D1 doesn't look so bad, considering W4 should have been very similar.
Skinnywish - how was the 20 minute run? Can you give us any tips or wisdom?
DCchick - Congrats on finishing D1. It get's easier. Keep going!
I've been thinking a lot about starting the C25K, even talked about it with a few people, but finding this post has inspired me to do it. I've already gotten in my walking/jogging today, for Week 1, Day 1. I'm excited about becoming a runner, which I never thought I would be!
Angel's Dust w5 has been my favorite so far! good work!
rocketbunny the 20 minute run wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, but i made sure to keep a slow, even pace. my only words of wisdom are to make sure you take a rest day after, because i just did w6d1 today, which i thought would be a breeze and it felt SO HARD!!!
munchievictim and carcar welcome!!! always exciting to have some new faces in here! you will be amazed how quickly your running endurance will improve! keep us posted!
so, like i mentioned, did w6d1 today, the day after my 20min run (and 1.5 hr hike) and it nearly killed me. my legs were so sore, only half way thru the 8 minute run. but, i did it, and hopefully the d2 will be easier...i guess i've learned the importance of the rest day!!!!
k i just got back from W1D1! I feel great! Wow. I wasn't expecting it to be as enjoyable as it was. I took my husband and he pushed our toddler in the stroller. I was ahead of him for most of it, he walked behind and jogged in some spots but he's a seasoned runner as it is- he was in it to support me! It felt good. I'm excited to do it again on Wednesday!
I am thinking of doing the 30DS tomorrow for added workout and for more muscle tone and to help my legs out to prepare for running further distances and for longer amounts of time. I've seen some other ladies doing this- is this smart? I don't want to burn myself out but at the same time I don't want to miss out on workout opportunities when I have the gusto to do them!
Ohhh Week 4 and Zumba class make me a very tired girl! I'm trying to increase my exercise time so I can go ahead and get Rid of these extra pounds! I'm gonna sleep good tonight!

What do you think??
I workout 6 days of the week. At the beginning I felt like I needed two days off and then just one. Now I don't need a day off but I take it anyways. I do strength only twice a week because I don't have the time. I do yoga once a week for stretching. I think that it would be great for you to do both, but only if you have the energy. I never missed a workout once, but that's because I juggled and made up for anything I couldn't do. Just do as much as you can, if you're afraid of burning out. It gets easier!
ETA: Just finished w5d1 and it was fantastic. Before I went on, my legs were begging to run. I had fun and actually did an extra 3 minutes on the last 5 minute run! I think I might be ready for d2.

Reason: Added tonight's run
I signed up for my first 5K run today. It'll be on June 20th. I should be pretty far along in C25k by then.
I thought the idea of just Finishing C25k was motivation enough. Now I'm finding that the goal of actually running the whole event is SO much more motivating.
Did W1D1 today, so I'm a little late to the party. I could probably go up to week 2 right away since I had been jogging a little bit a couple months ago, but I don't want to burn myself out (which is what I did a couple of months ago), so I think I'll just follow through with week 1. Hopefully I can stick with it this time!
I'm also going to try and do Jillian's "Making the Cut" along with it, but we'll see how much my body can take.
spikedpunch WELCOME! i thought i should skip ahead at the beginning too, but i think this program works extremely well as followed. it will definitely get more challenging!
Angel's Dust nice work! isn't it exciting when you actually WANT to run more???
rocketbunny YAY to the 5km. the half marathon in october is totally my motivation to get out there...i'm so scared i won't be able to finish it!
carcargood work! i say if you feel like working out more, work out more! all the power to ya!
butterflygurlkeep up the good work and the high energy!!!
W1D2 down! I signed up for my first 5k today! it's on the 4th of July!! And that is almost exactly 9 weeks after my first C25k workout, so it's PERFECT!
