  • I finished w3d3 at 1 AM. My hours are so weird right now. I have to get back to going to sleep at 11 and waking up earlier.

This time it was pure torture. I'm shocked and a little appalled that I didn't quit. I was so sore and VERY tired. I've been barely sleeping these last few days. So, it was absolute ****. I want so much to stop after that experience. I couldn't perk up my mood to trick myself into believing that it wasn't so bad. But I remember how it was! It wasn't fun at all. I'm getting a little bored with the routine as well. I'm definitely repeating this week. I have to make sure I get more sleep. I'm not usually one to not get enough hours, but lately I've been acting stupid with that.
  • Lucy and I just got back from the park and our W1D3 workout. It was warm out and I'm more and more certain that carrying a camelbak is worth the extra weight on these runs.

I'm saying that I "completed" the workout, but truthfully I had only gotten through about half of the last interval when I noticed a woman walking a dog the other direction pointing worriedly behind me. I turned to see Lucy limping. I immediately stopped and checked her paws. I found a spot of blood on one of her front paws (a small cut). I washed it with some water from my camelbak and took it easy the next few minutes. Soon she was again trotting happily and didn't seem affected. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

As for me, my legs aren't nearly as sore as they were last time. I think my body just might be acclimating to running (a teeny bit).

Next week is going to be challenging. On Tuesday night I'll be driving down to my BF's house to spend the night with him. On Wednesday night I need to take the dog, cat, and bunny to my parent's house (Mom is petsitting for me). Aaaand on Thursday I'm leaving immediately after work for a weekend motorcycle meet in New Mexico.

I'm thinking that the only way to get the workouts in is to do them in the mornings. Lucy will be around Tuesday morning, so that should be fine. I'll have to do one alone on Thursday morning and then manage to get out of my hotel room bed early on Saturday morning and see if I can find a safe place to run near the hotel. (I doubt the hotel will have a gym).

Challenge is what Couch to 5K is all about, right? Here I goooooooooo.....
  • Angel's Dust-there's nothing wrong with repeating a week if you need to, it's good that you are just going to keep doing it! I'm sure if you get some more sleep in, you will find it much easier...

Rocketbunny-Good luck with fitting in your work outs! I'm sure you can do it, if you plan it out and commit to it!

I just finished W3D3 today and it felt really good! Starting W4D1 tomorrow and am scared for the 5 minute running stretches...plus it's SNOWING here and I run outside...yuck!

Wow. I have to deal with Houston heat, but at least I'm not worried about slipping and falling. Impressive.

Anyway, the more I think about it, the less sure I am of being able to drag myself out of bed Tues and Thurs morning. I want to make a commitment, but I'm not a morning person. I might just be setting myself up for failure.

I'm strongly considering doing W2D1 tonight after work and then trying to fit in D2 on Wednesday before I take the pets to my parent's house (avoids traffic at least). I don't like the idea of doing a workout on the day immediately following my last one, but I'm feeling pretty good about the idea of running again. Not sore at all, ready to go. 90 second intervals sound doable right now.
  • Hey girls! I just started the C25K program today. I signed up for my very first 5K run...it's on June 27th here in St. Paul, MN. I'm so excited! I never imagined ever doing something like this. But now I have something to keep me motivated to keep running. I have EXACTLY 9 weeks to train.

W1D1 went great. I downloaded a podcast from a personal web page (Go Nicole Yourself I think it's called). Let me tell you, I've tried C25K before, and I hated it because of having to constantly look at the clock. Today was AWESOME. I loved not having to look down every 2 seconds. I could just enjoy the music and change my pace on every cue. I can't believe I didn't find this earlier! This is definitely making me more excited about the program.

Good luck to everyone. I'll be checking in later this week!
  • LaBonita-WELCOME! Good luck with the plan this time...i should check out those podcasts...

just finished w4d1 and it was HARD! those 5 minute stretches make the 3 miuntes seem like nothin!

i cheated a tiny bit, walking for an extra minute before starting the last 5 minute run, but other than that DID It!!!! YAY!
  • I repeated w3d1 tonight and it was awesome. It was nice and comfortable but challenging at the same time. I'm glad I'm repeating.

    Welcome, LaBonita!!
  • finally getting sunny again here, but still pretty cold...i am doing w4d2 tonight and have the worst cramps! TOM arrived this morning, in it's full glory! oh well, i will still run tonight if it kills me!
  • Omg I'm with you skinnywish, tom hit me this morning too! On top of that it's yucky outside, but I'm glad I finished before the rain started! I'm halfway done with week 3. Hopefully I'll finish up on Friday
  • I started mine today but it was a struggle for me pushing my nephew in a stroller at the same time! haha gonna try friday WITHOUT the baby.
  • So after talking myself into it, I finally decided to give C25K program a try. There are so many runs here in New Orleans and I wish I could be apart of them. Now I can .
I did Week 1, day 1 today. Felt good throughout almost all of it. The last 2 intervals were killer. I also brought my dog Dakota out with me. She absolutely hated it. I had to literally drag her the last few intervals, constantly praising her for moving. lol. I hope she gets used to it.
I'll probably do Week 1, Day 2 Friday. Woo!
  • Week 6, Day 1 Done! I am loving it!
  • Busy day, I'm beat.

I had intended to do W2D1 on Monday night. It was POURING rain. So I resolved to get up early Tuesday and do it before work. Well, still pouring. Tuesday night was right out because I had to attend a friend's birthday celebration 40 miles away and would then spend the night with my BF. This morning wouldn't work because I had to commute an hour from my BF's place to work....

Anyway, yeah, life was conspiring against me. Boohoo poor me.

I almost gave up on today, but the last minute decided that I would drive home after work, immediately change, and go to the park before running the pets the 35 miles to my parent's house.

It meant that I didn't get home to start packing until 9:30 pm, but I feel like I've kept my fitness committment to myself and have a plan for finishing out the week while I'm on the road. If I can fit in a jogging workout on one of my busiest weeks this month, I can do anything!

The workout? It went fine. I kept reminding myself that it was only six intervals (compared to W1's interminable eight) and only 30 seconds longer. The two minute breaks were just enough time to catch my breath but not so long that the faster pace was a shock. Once again, the 2nd to last interval felt the hardest, but I'm sure that it'll get easier as I repeat it. I'm going to try for W2D2 on Friday morning.

(And WELCOME to the all the people just starting off. It really does get easier once you pass the first workout)
  • restarted w4 today

I was so beat. I could barely finish. I felt so defeated.
  • OMG, i JUST finished w4d2. w4d1 had almost killed me so i was not looking forward to tonight.

it went so well! i kept a slow steady pace and when my DH said we only had 45 seconds of the last 5 minute interval, i raced him for the last stretch and ended up running and extra 1m15sec! on the first day of TOM no less. i am so proud of myself!

leighishyou've been doing so good! it was probably just an off, low energy day. i bet the next one wll fell much better! let us know!!

rocketbunnyway to be committed! i know i would let those kind of obstacles put me off plan...it doesn't take much for me, so good job!

CeCeLee and PammyFlwelcome! it gets much more enjoyable, i promise!

Angel'sDusti bet after repeating w3, w4 will be a smoother transition than it was for me...nearly killed me!

butterflygirlTOM + running = sucks!!!, but i went out and did it and it felt really good!

HEatherMcGweek 6!?! impressive! i hope i make it that far and live to tell about it

    off to bed now!
