This is surprisingly awesome. When I put it together it looked gross — but tasted delicious when it was done. My husband loved it too - he ate the rest of the dish in one sitting.

I made this and added fat free refried beans and it is wonderful. What a great recipe that takes minutes to make and you can throw it in the oven and walk away!!! It is GREAT!!!

I thought this was very good. It makes you full and is great with a salad. One of the reviews said that it would be great if you add beans. It didn’t say to the receipe or on the side. I would think on the side would be better because there wasn’t much room to add beans. Easy and very good.

This was delicious and easy to make. My picky husband loved it too.

My husband loved this. I added fat free refried bean to get extra protein. Made the dish “heavy” but still very tasty. Could use extra salsa/fat free sour cream when serving.

Very simple to prepare and tastes great. Makes a good leftover as well.

this was good, but the turkey layer was too thick, I thought. next time, i’m going to only use 2/3 to 3/4 lb. of ground turkey and add some refried beans like a few others suggested.

Absolutly loved this recipe, I used ground turkey breast. Would make again & again

I love taco pie. I make it constantly. Sometimes I substitue baked doritos for the tortilla chips (minus olives makes it about the same points wise) and it tastes sooooo good!

This was pretty good. Hubby & teenage son liked. I guess the ground turkey I used wasn’t ectra lean, as I had to drain the grease from around the pie.

i never saw anything look so nasty, but it tasted pretty good. like a taco with no shell.

One of the ugliest recipes ever made– but delicious. HA! No really. It may not be pretty, but was really good. I ate one serving and my husband ate the rest. No leftovers. He really enjoyed it.

I LOVE THIS DISH! I’ve made it probably close to 10 times. It’s not the prettiest dish…but it is wonderful!!! I’ve always thrown in some vegetarian refried beans, it adds to the points…but boy is it good!

This was a very family friendly dish, since it was so easy to make I let the kids make it and they loved it as well. I didn’t have to cook and it tasted great, what more can you ask for. My daughter asked if we can have this dish once a week.

I like this because it’s quick to prepare, easy, and makes my 2 year old happy. I do add corn and black beans before the chips.

Good, not great. But a simple, easy weeknight recipe. Will probably make it again.

Do you brown the turkey before putting it in the pie pan??

  20. Marci on April 23rd, 2010 12:21 pm

I added corn and green chili’s (I’m from New Mexico and add green chili’s to everything I can! LOL) and it came out FANTASTIC! I also made my own homemade salsa for toppings and used Fat Free Sour Cream instead of light to save on total fat grams. It was a winner in my entire household. My 9yr old wanted 2nds and “some for school tomorrow, mom”! LOL

I have not tried this one yet. I am only 2 weeks out from my surgery with a lap band. Just trying to get some receipts to use.

I am with a lot of people here.. it looked gross, but tasted great! My lean turkey also ended up leaving grease around the edges. But we were pleasantly surprised!

  23. Karen Peavy on July 9th, 2010 12:37 pm

I haven’t tried this one yet, but my guess about the “grease” is from the cheese used…unless you made it with reduced fat or fat free cheese instead.

  24. Danielle Crowley on February 9th, 2011 1:09 pm

someone else asked this and it might seem silly, but do you brown the turkey first or does it just cook on its own while its in the oven?

  25. Karen Peavy on March 2nd, 2011 11:44 pm

I made mine with raw turkey meat. I thought at first that it may turn out badly because of the liquid(not fat) that the turkey sometimes has in it. But by the time I took it out of the oven, and fixed glasses for drinks, it ha redistributed back into the pie. It wasn’t soggy at all! This is one of our “Keeper” recipes that we prepare often.

This is fantastic. wow what a treat. My husband is so happy he said oh ya you can make this again.

  27. kortney on August 4th, 2011 7:10 pm

This was really good… I added onions to the sour cream mixture and chopped some iceberg lettuce for topping…. Very good meal served with a salad. Will make again.

  28. kortney on August 4th, 2011 7:12 pm

To answer the question no u do not brown the turkey first.
