HOT HOT HOT!!

It’s entirely too hot outside today! I ran a few errands and thought I was gonna pass out! 101 degrees is just too hot!! Probably feels like 110 lol.

I’ve been getting my workouts in early in the mornings and meeting all my food goals so far. I’m so excited to get into a nice routine again. Although, yesterday was a little tough while we were out school shopping and I didn’t think to pack a lunch or snacks to keep from hitting up the fast food joints. Ended up at Applebee’s and had a nice Caesar Salad (dressing on the side) and a glass of water with lemon. Not too shabby and a much better nutritional choice I’d say!!

Just in case I haven’t mentioned it yet…school starts a week from today!!!emoticon A friend of mine will start running with me in the mornings after we drop kids off at school. I think it will be fun to have a running buddy.

This Saturday I will be going to The Myrtles Plantation to the haunted tour and I’m sooo excited! I’ve wanted to do this for a while and just kept putting it off and doing other things (usually for the kids) instead. But my brother-in-law called yesterday and got he and I reservations to go! Everyone else is working or too busy so it’s just us for some spooky fun and history too!

Today is day one of a challenge in one of my teams on sprarkpeople.com, The Partying Penguins. I’m hoping this will be the jump start I need!

My goals are:
1000 fitness minutes in the month of August
NO FAST FOOD!!

I think if I planned my lunch more I wouldn’t cave in and hit the fast food
drive-thru lines. CROSSING FINGERS!

No fast food today!!

It’s been a long week…

Well it’s been a long week and I have neglected to blog all week long! So here’s my make up blog…short and to the point. lol

I’ve done great on food choices and got in plenty of exercise while helping my mom pack stuff and move it from her home into storage. Later I get to help move it again when she gets her new place…oh joy!

It’s been a pretty uneventful week and not a lot to tell. Just been so tired and worn out everyday. Today is my of day. I’m gonna play catch up in my spark teams as well as emails and other stuff.

WI this week was a 2lb loss!! 5 lbs total!
Started 2 weeks ago at 186 and as of Wednesday my WI day I was 181!

School starts in 12 more days!!! emoticon

Weekend Plan

The truth is I don’t have one…a plan that is. I just want to stay in bed!

All the plans I’ve tried making have either fallen through or have been put on hold. UGH. And to make matters more yucky TOM arrived yesterday to give me the grumps.

SO… for sure tomorrow is our yearly family reunion and I plan on eating and enjoying myself without over doing it completely. No alcohol for me since there will be so much food. I will have a glass of wine tonight instead.
Will also get in my treadmill time for sure!

And in with the *new* Melly! emoticon

Yesterday I decided to do some cleaning in my room and move things around. Which turned out to be more exercise than I had planned since I took the day off! lol Wile I was cleaning out my closet and dresser I kept coming across all these clothes that I’ve just been waiting to get back into. Looking at how small I was then (1 1/2 yrs ago) compared to now was really depressing! And to think I thought I was overweight! Not likely! Thanks to me smoking I was a thin 6-7. Now I’m in a 16 because I decided being a healthy non-smoker was so much better (best thing I ever did!!) …but who knew I was gonna gain so much in such a short time? And that it would be so hard to get it off?

I guess what I’m getting at is it made me really think about my goals. How unrealistic it was for me to keep those clothes and try to GO BACK to the way was when really I need to be moving forward. So, I threw it ALL out! 4 very large yard garbage bags full! My husband dropped them at the goodwill store this morning. They had to go today or I may have reclaimed them…lol.

And now I feel free! What a relief!

And to top it off I had a loss of 3.2 pounds this WI!! So I would say that so far this has been a great week for me!!

Well I’m off to help my brother in law move today…more exercise!

Finally we are back online full time. Our internet has been in and out since Saturday evening, about the time I would log in and change my status it would go back out…ugh. Pain in the butt!! At least it’s fixed now though.

The weekend was pretty good, I didn’t go to RTR Saturday in Baton Rouge cause it was just too darn hot and humid. The kids went with the in laws and had a great time so it’s all good. Sunday was nice and relaxing.

I got in all my exercise over the weekend and over the last 2 days and have also met all of my healthy eating goals! Tomorrow is my WI day so I’m hoping to see a change on the scales.
With all the extra walking I got in yesterday and today school shopping in the mall and elsewhere it should definitely be down a little.

I”m counting that’s who!!! 22 days till school starts!

Ramblings

I need to lay off some of the red meat. It’s just too much and it leaves me feeling overly full and just plain yucky!! I managed to get in all my veggies but could have done better in the fruit department. Got in more than enough water!!

Exercise was 45 minutes on the treadmill @ 4mph. Muscles are a little sore, guess that’s what happens when you fall off the wagon!! Good thing I’m back and taking control.

I will be looking up some new recipes for chicken. I’ll also be looking up a healthier version of Lasagna to take to my father in laws this Sunday for
dinner. This is the one place I seem to have the hardest time staying on plan!!! All of the food he cooks is SO good and yet so BAD for you! Good ,heavy, fried southern dishes. I’m probably gaining 5 pounds just sitting here thinking about it all. But it’s my turn to cook so hopefully it will be healthier & tasty without them actually knowing it..lol

Well school starts back in 26 days…but who’s counting?! LOL I have enjoyed having the kids home but with the prospect of school right around the corner I confess I’m getting a little excited..lol

Today’s Accountability

Just a short blog to hold myself accountable. You can turn away now…boring!!

Yesterdays food wasn’t that great but it wasn’t terrible either. Today was a huge improvement!! Got all my fruit and veggie servings and plenty of water too.
Exercise included 30 minutes of ST and 3 miles on the treadmill at 4mph @ 8% incline.

Also decided today to give up my evening pot of coffee! YIKES!! I’ve never went without it willingly unless it just wasn’t available. It’s more of a habit I think than a necessity. I will update how it’s going.

Today’s Thoughts & Progress

My husband had surgery for an umbilical hernia 2 weeks ago. Who knew it would be the one thing to drive me bonkers and to cause me to over eat every single day!?!? The stress and being cooped up inside taking care of him and worrying was unreal! Now I get that little clause in our wedding vows…”In sickness and in health!!” What about In boredom and whining and all the other stuff?? LOL They left all that out 15 years ago when we were married.

My food today started out really good with breakfast  and although I had a good lunch planned it didn’t work out that way since I had to run some errands and under-estimated how long I would be gone. I ended up at Jack in the box with my bro-in-law and it wasn’t good as you can imagine after I got home and logged in my food! I was so disappointed in myself and diusgusted. But what can ya do? I logged it in and moved on with my day. Dinner was good and healthy at least. I got in some swimming and a nice brisk walk outside today for exercise.  Tomorrow is a new day with a fresh start.

I’m thinking of trying Weight Watchers but would like some input from others who have some experience with the program, so let me know ladies if you’ve tried it or doing it. Pro’s and con’s!!!

Starting over…again!

Well I’ve fallen of the wagon but I guess the good news is that I realized it and have climbed back on!!! I’ve gained a few pounds instead of losing and it’s time to stop sabotaging myself!!
A friend of mine has come up with an 18 week challenge for us and I’m taking her up on it! It seems so much easier when you don’t have to go it alone.

Starting weight: 184

Water intake: 10 glasses

Calories: 1598

Exercise: Treadmill~2 mile walk @4.5 mph on 1.5 % incline
