My balance is pretty good, but I am nowhere NEAR flexible enough for BOP without a whole lot of yoga band.

Is it stupid that 4 hours later I am still giddy at the fact I get to go to the gym tomorrow when I didnt expect to be able to? Or that I am looking forward to summer camp so I can live in the gym?

Quick run through and to everyone. Had a good whole body workout today, though I had to talk myself into going to the gym, including sitting in the car 10 minutes when I got there. Hate days like that.

Crossfit was good!

It was actually a skills test day and the class was small so I got a lot of one on one time. The others did deadlifts but because I was told my squats need work before I do deadlifts, I worked on squat form. Then I did pull downs (not strong enough to do pullups even with band assist). Then I did 500m row (took me 2:30 minutes). Then we worked on shoulder presses with a weighted pvc bar.

The trainer then said he didn't want to torture me any more so I could go home but the others had to do situps so I wanted to do situps. He jokingly said something like 'oh you are going to be one of those, the ones that are never done'.

Anyway, it was a great day, I got to see the end of the last class and then worked on my form.

I plan to go back on Saturday morning.

Nelie! AWESOME that you went to crossfit!

Pat for perseverance

Agorgeous summer day, today. I'll be working at home on a pretty tricky piece of research. Got to write it down while I still understand it. Apart from that I've a light reading book and the usual tons of house and yardwork. I'm still easing myself back into the workout routine with a daily ultra quick pushup, pullup, squats, lunges, crunches routine. you all inspire me to alsoo fix my nintendo so I can resume my "lets yoga" workout instructions.

Lydia, how are you doing on the foot & with the house?

hi to everyone.

have a great day,
Rabbit

Nelie, so glad you had a great time at Crossfit. It sounds so COOL!!!! and yes, you HAVE to be one of those i guess. LOL!!!!

Greetings and salutations to all. It's crunch time - Prom is tomorrow, relatives arrive Sunday, graduation Monday and a million details to get done. Didn't get into bed until 1AM so the 5AM workout didn't happen. I know my evening is full (haircut, tux fitting, etc.) so I am going to do a power walk at lunch so at least I can get SOME form of exercise in. Food isn't where I need it to be - not getting enough in and am too cheap to buy anything downtown. I'll be one happy chick when The Boy strolls across that stage.

Make it a fabulous Friday all!!!

Tiki!

For anyone that is interested, I found this fun article about Crossfit in the Baltimore Sun.

Nelie, I will check out your link when I have more time, but just wanted to say hurray that you went and had a good experience. Sounds like a good one so far. I wanted to kill my trainer at first, because he wouldn't let me add weight to anything until I had the form down, but I'm glad he insisted, since it was the right thing to do. The learning curve is so much faster when you have the trainers right there giving you feedback every workout, every lift. Speaking of, we're doing Cindy today, and it's my first chance to do that one since I got the pull-ups back...I'm curious to see how many rounds I can get rx'd...send me some superpower vibes, people!

Glad you liked Crossfit Nelie! Sounds like fun.

We started Phase 6 of PN/LE workouts this week. (Last one, program ends early July). While most of the exercises are not new, the combination is changed. We're doing 3 weight days (WB, LB, UB) with 3 cardio days, 1 rest day. I did the whole body yesterday and yikes, am I sore! Funny how that goes. The cardio today will feel good. Planning on a bike ride once it dries up. I'll combine it with a trip to town to the bank, etc.

Hello hello!

Day two of the Wh Belly Off workout Wednesday, 7 mile run yesterday, still on with the yoga every morning. Sore today, though. Wow!

Nelie - so glad you enjoyed the CF. It sounds great!

Rabbit - hope your research went well.

Elena - that doesn't sound weird to me at all. I find myself looking forward to things that facilitate my exercise time as well. Enjoy your workout!

Mel - I don't think I will ever get my leg all the way straightened out on BOP, but I'm pretty good at the getting up to standing. Still can't come close to a handstand, though.

Lydia - love the pushup logic. I'm at 12-13 full pushups max right now, too. I like the Real Age target much better.

Pat - funny how a change up of the same exercises makes you sore. How is the sunburn?

Cheryl - super power vibes your way!

Tiki - wow, you have a busy few days ahead. Enjoy the festivities!

Good day all!

Did the "Cindy" workout (5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 bw/air squats, as many rounds as possible in 20 mins) rx'd tonight..woot! 10 rounds, plus 5 pull-ups and 6 push-ups. Rx'd push-ups at my gym are chest to floor from the toes...those were the killers for me.

Strongman practice with my trainer tomorrow morning, ds13 is gone for the weekend, and there's a pound of the best beef jerky on the planet in my fridge. Does life get any better? I don't think so!

Pat and Shannon, great job on the workouts!

Hola Chicas!!

So I did my first (very scaled back) WOD today.

The RX workout was
200m run with 45lb plate (35 for women?)

then 21-15-12 of
kettlebell swings (53 lb for men? 35 for women?)
handstand pushups
burpees

then 200m run with same plates as above

MY workout
200 m run (no plate)

12-9-5 of
kettlebell swing (15 lb kettlebell)
knee pushups
burpees (modified)

then 200m run no plate

I finished in 14:01.

The class was so energetic, it was amazing. After my workout I was shaking for about half an hour. I talked to my husband and told him I'm not sure if 2x/week is going to be enough

Oh and did I mention that the CF is near a Nordstrom rack? No? Well I stopped in afterwards and bought some exercise clothes (didn't try them on but will and return whatever I don't like)

And I think I found my CF shoes, Asics Onitsuka tiger. I ordered them and we'll see when they get here.

I'm so happy you loved it, Nelie! and I like those shoes, too.
Wow...CrossFit and a Nordstrum's Rack. That would be really dangerous for me.

When I started going to Xfit, I was just going to do 2-3 times a week to add variety to my regular lifting. It is so addicting- I don't even belong to a regular gym anymore and if I didn't know that I really do need a day (or two) off, I would go every day.

I did nothing useful today except color my hair and get a hair cut. I was up way too late last night watching hockey and emptying a bottle of wine with friends- dh actually was given a ticket to the game and was there and is even more tired. I had planned to go to the strongman workout at 8 then the regular Xfit at 9. Didn't happen. I WILL be there tomorrow

Except for the wine, food has been on. Tonight I made a huge fillet of steel head trout on the grill. Delicious!

Tomorrow night we are hosting the hockey group. Not sure what I'm making, but I know I'll be exhausted on Monday.

I'm already trying to think of scenarios that have me going 3-4 times/week. It is going to definitely take some shuffling of the schedule and may mean I need to start going into work earlier so that I can take care of my dogs and spend time with my husband. Although I can somewhat foresee him joining for 2x week within a few months.

Oh and today, I took some 'before' pictures. They weren't pretty. I wore some shorts and a workout bra. It is the most revealing picture I have of myself. I don't have any really good 'before' pictures at my high weight so I figured if I'm going to do this, I better do it right or else I'll regret it.

Sounds good to me Nelie!! I've been intrigued for awhile, but the nearest XFit is 50 miles away, so it's soo not happening.

Love the shoes, they're similar to the Nike Free 5.0 that I have (can't find a photo - but mine are over 1 year old, so that's prob why).

Mel - enjoy the weekend!! Sounds like you've got a good start on it.
