Mel - DH is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing your story, I had wondered how you guys got together, too.
Sacha - a your a police woman? Any my burpees fit, as they most definitely include the F word. Though often it is in my head, as I'm too out of breath to say it aloud...
4.5 mile run last night in 93 humid degrees... Like running through a warm bath.
Haha long story... I bailed out at the last minute when DH and I decided to start a family. It's a great job for a single girl with no kids, but doesn't work for me now. I still work for the RCMP and still do all the fitness parts, but I prefer my office job instead
Mel - my DH1 and I lived in Lansing - he was in grad school there for 2 years. Prob before your time though. Not my favorite place but there were some amazing electrical storms. We used to sit out on the "porch" of married students' housing with a beer and watch them - along with the 4 other couples in our unit.
We are having werid weather this week. Cool and cloudy in the mornings, sun in the afternoon, resorting to warmer and cloudy and humid in the evenings. It rains in places around us but apparently our town has some sort of cover - doesn't ever seem to actually rain - which we could use.
DH and his teenaged helper powerwashed our house yesterday (in prep for the painter) and all my windows are now in desperate need of washing. I know he's not going to be up for that today though.... Me, I'm going to mow the lawn and probably go to town for the farmer's market. I have some photos from a class I took earlier in the month on exhibit at the visitor center today through the weekend.
We're in full blown summer mode around here. warm & sunny and 29C predicted for tomorrow. I've a weekend of R&R planned: biked to the next village yesterday to have my hair cut & buy some new swimgear.
I've got a plain black swimsuit for swimming & a tankini top for hanging around. And I got me the last asparagus of this year. They stop cutting today.
And the rest of yesterday was filled with parental duties... drove DS and part of his field hockey team to a tournament...basically a lot of partying & beer. Still, 5 hrs in the car altogether. Was home at 22.30, and resumed duty at 0:30 when I picked up DD from a festival in the next village.
Nothig at all planned for today. DD is going out to work & I plan a quietr day of house chores & swimming & reading by the pool.
Mel - DH sure sounds like a keeper
Sacha - enjoy the baby!
Whoo hoo! I did the strongman WOD today: tire flipping and beer keg(filled with water) clean and presses honest! It's hard to do with boobs, even squished into a uniboob bra.
I'm leaving tomorrow to visit a 3FC friend in Albuquerque A week off and good times with my "twin" She even found me a nearby crossfit so I may drop in once or twice.
Nice story about you and your DH, I enjoyed reading it - thanks for sharing. Please say to DH for me - I work in Waterloo. :-)
Annoying weather mostly - humid but just enough rain to make the soil muddy for gardening but not enough water to actually water the plants.
We got some nice rain last night - I just read that Toronto got hit really hard, they got 44 mm in just one hour. Here, just a nice enough rain and the weather should be cooler and drier for 3 days.
I am in full panic mode re the front garden, the rain is also a big boost for the weeds and mainly, for MOSQUITOES. The little [bleep]ers almost ate me alive while I brushed the dogs this a.m.
I am still on exercise hiatus but you know? All of sudden I realized that my back DOES NOT HURT. The problem will probably never go completely away and the left side will remain stiff but I haven't felt this good (back-wise) for ages.
When I start again, I won't even know how to hold a dumbbell, LOL.
Bathroom done and now I am itching to paint the living room in a split pea soup colour. Already have a sample from the paint store. BF will have a heart attack.
Alena - I suspect Mel's friend is a new grandmother just visiting in NM. But the baby catcher may figure in the equation as well.
And what about those clip on mosquito repellant things? Do you have them in Canada? Look like they'd be handy. I hate putting on repellant.
We have had rain since Friday night. Finally enough to really get the garden soaked. DH is already complaining about the weeds.... Me, I'm hearing the grass grow, and it's way too wet to mow.
So today for some reason my mind said, gym day, sure, and off I went for a good LBWO. WHy is it other days require a long, drawn-up conversation with myself to get there? Maybe because we started a new 4 week session so I have new exercises to do.
Location: Lyin' in a puddle of sweat on the floor.

Hey ladies, missing you peeps this week! Funny blip: when I signed on 3FC, my new antivirus popped up a warning that this site is "unsafe".
So today, we did a big birthday workout for all the June birthdays at my gym, about 6 or 7 of us. It was a good one, lots of cussing, took me 30 mins and change, scaled.
Sacha, cool about the CF and the zone! I eat paleo zone and it definitely leans you out.
Nelie, the burpees get easier with time. There's definitely a push-up in the burpee at our gym, and it's just scaled for beginners (wall or knees push-ups, walking feet out and back in if you can't jump them out in the plank position).
everybody else, got to do something useful before the day is gone!
Well I happen to agree with the updates...this site is dangerous.
Happy birthday to you Cheryl. Sorry I missed it earlier. I was surrounded by crazy people over the weekend. A little distracted shall we say. Next time, I'll interview my realtors...it will include a logistics test. "Can you unlock the front door." Yep. A little drama. But in the end, I think I be getting closer to selling my home.
Still looking in Chantilly/Mantua/Oakton for my next abode. We found the perfect place in Chantilly over the weekend, went to put in an offer and someone else had beaten us to it. Loved the outdoor living spaces. Really really nice. It even had a cat door in the screened in porch for my little Miss Penny girl. I've got one month. Tick.Tick.Tock.
Alena: Congrats in relieving your back pain. Its so hard to take a break from workouts. How are you doing it? Maybe I can pattern my behavior after yours if I understand how you frame your thoughts around it. I just worry so much about losing what I've worked for, losing motivation, regaining weight, losing strength/endurance. But yet, when I look at the list of pains I'm negotiating around....it's kind of silly. I really should just find a couch for about three weeks. Thing is, I'm so busy here at home too that not going to the gym probably won't make that much of difference. ehh. Anyway, I sincerely mean good for you! And I have no doubt you will pick right up in good form. (muscle memory....like I should take my own advice. )
Anyone familiar with ART therapy/techniques. I'm reading a book about it right now. Intriguing. Remodeling soft tissue as an approach to correcting imbalances that were the orginal cause of injury/pain.
Lydia - the only downside I've heard about Chantilly is it is definitely suburbs meaning you have to drive everywhere. I remember staying in a hotel in Chantilly and the main road didn't even have sidewalks so I couldn't take a walk. If I was living in Virginia, I think I'd try to find a place not too far from the W&OD trail which is nice for biking/running.
Are you sure you don't want to live in MD? The commute actually may be pretty similar if you are looking at places off of 66 (which I find to be a nightmare). Although you have more chance to take side roads in Virginia, only real viable way to VA from MD is 495 south.
Today was review of all the moves we've learned so far then a WOD of
50 squats
40 deadlifts
30 med ball cleans
20 burpees
10 sumo deadlift high pulls
